Best class for a magic jar or possession focused build.

Advice

I am thinking of trying to make a character focused around this spell and I'm trying to work out what would be the best potential class for this. There's a sorcerer bloodline but for some reason the only relevant ability is at level 20 which isn't of much use

I know there's a feat that let's you make a saving throw to bypass protection from evil, that will be mandatory, any other suggestions.

The easiest way to bypass protection from evil is not to be evil; the protection from possession only applies to the alignment that the spell protects against.

I'd like either go exploiter wizard for the boosted DCs or witch for the debuffing prior to casting possession.

Psychic might also work well as you would still be able to cast in forms that can't perform verbal or somatic components, though you could just take the metamagic feats to get around those as well.

Psychic also has the major phrenic amplification Dispelling Pulse available at level 10, which gives you a shot to dispel any Protection from X effects.

The Dream discipline Psychic has a 13th level ability (Waking Dream) that is basically free long term possession of anything asleep, including via Cloak of Dreams spell or weaker sleep spells. You can actually use this to chain possess things (put to sleep some weak creature where you stash your body, use that to adventure, jump to something better if you put it to sleep) that will have no memory of what happened in he interim, usually a problem for possessing info you don't want to kill.

Alternately there's always being a fighter so you can take advantage of any physical abilities properly. Specifically the steelbound archetype, stealing possession from the medium list when they get a 3rd level SLA at 9th level. Or I guess a medium could be about as good, if a level later.

Mesmerist hands down. Go Kitsune, take the realistic likeness feat and face skills. Your gm will cry.

Sovereign Court

Try the Formless Adept archetype for the Psychic - that has that as its main focus for the later half of its life.

Actually, I'm a big fan of beast-bonded witch. Their 10th level twin soul ability allows them to permanently posses their familiar - and from there, it lets them attempt to possess other creatures any time they want, as with magic jar but without a receptacle and without the inconvenience of leaving behind an unconscious body.

Oh, and a more general note for possession shenanigans: while magic jar and the like aren't available until at least 9th level, you can get an early start with marionette possession as quickly as level 5. It has a shorter duration and is limited to willing targets, but unconscious creatures are automatically considered willing for the purpose of targeting restrictions, so you can just knock out your enemies and possess them to your heart's content.

...and those targets don't need to have souls of their own.
