Tensei will quickly reach to grab the coins off the table and then kick off some from the table.

GM Roxtar |
Reflex: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
The ruffian on the table manages to stop Tensei from launching a coin off the table, which gets all the spectators grumbling that he even tried.
”Stop that. That’s a boring tactic. Play the game proper.” Chimes in Devargo.
His man reaches for coins.
Grab: 1d10 ⇒ 3
GM Roxtar |
Barely avoiding the shoulder slam, the brigand grabs for more coins.
Gold: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Then gets a clever idea and snatches up the dagger.

GM Roxtar |
AoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
He swings at the half-orc, but misses. Tensei on the other hand gives a mighty shove knocking the other man off the table. The crowd lets out a roar of booing and the King shakes his head.
”And here I thought you would at least be a good sport. Claim your coins. I will make the offer one final time. If someone wants to play the game to the proper conclusion, we may be able to make a deal. But none of this chicken s**t tactics of kicking coins or knocking people off the table.”
Hue Ma'an |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
I wonder if he is just a sore loser?
"Are these regional rules? Because all I've seen from here is a display of good tactics and use of the rules for advantage. I'm sorry if your men here aren't thinkers, but to change the rules of the game, mid-game, because you don't like watching them lose is poor sportsmanship and not befitting a man of your stature. I would expect it from these ignorant louts, but not you."
"The game ends when a coin is knocked off the table. I'm certain it isn't expected to move on it's own, so logically someone must knock it off. The game ends when one participant is knocked off the table. Again, unless the person is taking a dive, logically one must conclude they are supposed to be knocked off by their opponent, yes? Your men need to be better tacticians. It's not too late to stop backing the wrong people and place your bets on the winners."
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Either he will ponder that or, more likely, being a small petty tyrant on his little boats, he will call me out for speaking up. Better search the crowd for an easy target to challenge.
GM Roxtar |
Turning to Hue.
"Have you ever been to the arena? Watching the fightin' there can be quite the thrill. But when you see two combatants ready to scrap, and then one lands a lucky hit right at the start, the fight is over before it ever got interesting. Knocking folks off or kicking coins around, that's the cowards way of doing it, and not entertaining in the least. You want to brighten my mood, you'll stop doing that."
He pauses for a moment.
"So, is it you of the bird lady that want to give it a shot? And do try to not disappoint. You want a deal, right?"
Hue Ma'an |
"Right... So it is regional rules. You should have lead with that. Now we have to change our strategy. So what is it you want? It's not Knivesies, since we're throwing out perfectly good rules. You want a prolonged bought of brute-" Hue rolls his eyes. "-physicality. Well if that's what you want, and we're clear about that now, then you'll want to give our man Tensei here another go. He's most likely to deliver you the show you're looking for."
GM Roxtar |
He looks skeptical, but motions for Tensei to get back up on the table.
"Fine.
GM Roxtar |
Gold: 3d6 + 20 ⇒ (1, 4, 2) + 20 = 27
As the contestants climb up on the table, more coins are set down. Plenty of calls from the crowd offering encouragement and laughing to their buddy standing opposite from Tensei.

Swing and a miss. As the thug ducks the blow, he scoops up coins.
Gold: 1d10 ⇒ 7
Then using his move action, snags the dagger. His eyes darting to the side and nods to the previous rounds contestant.
GM Roxtar |
As you move closer to the other end of the table, they cheer.
”Yeah, join our side! Jirson can take that big guy, no sweat. Just be quick on yer feet”
Tensei the Half-Orc |
Tensei will activate his healing judgement and launch a destructive blow to the opponent

As Tensei swings his mighty fists, the thug pokes at him with the dagger
AoO: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Missing the attack he then drops the weapon, grabbing quickly for some coins and ticks them into the pouch.

The with a grin, picks the weapon back up as the crowd cheers louder.

GM Roxtar |
Again as the big bruiser swings for the scrawny thug, he tries to lash out with the dagger.
AoO: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
But is unsuccessful. The heavy blow from Tensei lands and rocks the smaller man on his feet. He repeats the same maneuver from last round, dropping the knife and then grabbing it back up once the coins are secured.
Coins: 1d10 ⇒ 2
Tensei 0, Thug 18, Remaining 59
Tensei the Half-Orc |
Directing his comments to the spider tensei will yell
I thought you wanted something entertaining, or are we just cleaning the table here! This is what you call entertaining..GLORIFIRD CLEANING!
Punch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d3 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
GM Roxtar |
As the next blow lands, the thug loses consciousness, slumping down on the table. His buddies nearby pull open the pouch and count the coins.
The king steps forward and claps.
"You knocked my man out cold and won this round. At least it was more enjoyable then the last two. I do believe we can work out a deal for the documents you wanted. Eight hundred gold and we'll call it square."
Tensei the Half-Orc |
Tensei will hold his arm up in triumph and then hop off the table. And give a nod to hue and Faust to work out the deal details. Tensei will then move back over next to behest and take break
Behset |
Behset will nod in appreciation of the show. She will reach out to heal any wounds but pauses as she is surprised to see none, instead she will shift the incantation to guidance in case any more talking is required.
Faust Hawkins |
Faust will look and give his friends an accepting nod and then approach the spider a bit and hold out his hand. I believe we have a deal then. I glad we could all get some out out of this. Faust will give a chuckle.
GM Roxtar |
The King shakes hands with Faust. As he does, the spiders on Devargo's armor are busy scuttling to and fro.
"Perfect. I'll return shortly."
He heads down below deck and returns a few minutes later holding three neatly folded pieces of paper. The scent of perfume drifting off them is nearly intoxicating. He exchanges them for the bag of coins and bids you to have a fine day, ushering you all outside before shutting the doors again.
The previous door guards are nowhere to be seen.
Faust Hawkins |
After we are outside, Well that got a little hairy for a few but I think we got what we came for. Good job Tensei. We should go pick up our stuff then get back to the commander with this information ASAP.
GM Roxtar |
Getting back to Zellara's is easy enough, as is returning to The Citadel. Once inside you are able to meet with Cressidia and hand over the letters. She starts to read them, and quickly blushes, then calls a clerk over to take the letters and secure them.
She pulls out a coin pouch with an additional five hundred gold and hands it over.
"I trust all went well?"
Faust Hawkins |
Faust actually would still have some wounds on him since I never healed the 5 damage I had.
Faust chuckles, Yeah it was no big deal. It was actually a little fun
GM Roxtar |
"Perfect. Well then I don't have anything else for you currently, but I'll let you know if something pops up."
As you are leaving her office, she heads out as well towards one of the other outbuildings.
and with that, everyone can level up to 3. good job folks
Faust Hawkins |
Faust will go back to rest a little at Zellara's. During the downtime Faust will go around the pubs and different areas to try to get any information about what is going on in the town, trying to listen for rumors.

Hue Ma'an |
Tensei? Can I ask for your help in upgrading my armor and weapons? I know you used to work for a blacksmith and still do from time to time. Can you take me shopping for better stuff?
Behset |
I assist weapons too. Poultice in oil imbue magic to blade. Limit use but cheap aid. ... No drink from sink, antagonistic comorbidity is dog mother. Vigor and vitality mixtures tomorrow.
Behset will purchase materials and vials then use the kitchen sink to make 4 potions of magic weapon oil for 200 gold over the next 8 hours.
GM Roxtar |
Behset is able to make her purchases with no issue.
Hue and Tensei go on a shopping spree.
Faust does his best lumberjack impersonation, and hangs around in bars. While doing so, he hears some interesting things.
There are several people still banging on about the queen being a murderer, but a new batch of rumors has started to gain some traction. That of a confession overheard by several guards (both castle and city). "The King was having a painting done of himself and had hired this poor girl from the Shingles that was supposed to be of remarkable talent. She and an accomplice were hoping to strike a blow for freedom and equality for the downtrodden or something. Well, the artist girl slipped a poison into the King's tea after finishing her painting. No one knows her name yet, but she's in a heap of trouble when the law catches up to her."
Faust also hears that the missing pawn broker has been found dead. After concerns from a neighbor, the guards came and broke his door down. The discovered the man as a bloody mess all over his bedroom.
"Reminds me of those killin's a few years back. The Key Lock Killer they called 'em."
Tensei the Half-Orc |
I can take you down to my boss, he is a bit crotchety at times but you get used to it. What are you looking to get done. Im currently working on a set of armor but I would be happy to work on what you need after Tensei will lead Hue down to the shop and make the introductions to the boss.
After showing Hue around the smithe. Tensei will start his work in the forge and get back to working on his new full plate set.
Crafting armor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Faust wants to see if he can take a look at the pawn brokers place. See if the guards are still investigating and if they are he wants to see if he take a look at everything also.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
GM Roxtar |
The guards are not on the scene any longer. The door has been closed up and secured. As Faust is checking things out, one of the neighboring stall keepers calls out to him.
"You were the one asking about Bellis the other day, right? Yeah, looks like he made somebody mad. Only thing I can reckon. He was a cheapskate, but fair with his prices. Crazy what they did to him. Practically turned him inside out from what I heard. His cousin was sent notice and sounds like he'll be coming to take over the place soon."
GM Roxtar |
"No and no. Like I said, he wasn't a bad guy, but must've ticked someone off."
Faust Hawkins |
Faust in his downtime wants to talk to the commander and see if he would be able to look into the murder of the businessman.
GM Roxtar |
Talking things over with the Commander, she seems a bit reluctant to talk about the murder at first, but does relent and shows Faust the file on what they have uncovered so far. Most of the file repeats info that he has already heard, but does include notes to return once Bellis’s cousin Royland arrives to ask about inventory. Cursory investigation it does not appear that anything was missing.
Faust Hawkins |
Faust would have asked the commander if there have been any other murders the same way and if so then what other information do they have.
GM Roxtar |
”Similar, perhaps. About ten years back there were several murders done in a similar fashion. It is unlikely that the killer would have been quiet all this time, so this makes me think some sort of copycat. If you are interested, I can dig out those files, but they are pretty gruesome.”
Faust Hawkins |
Yeah if you don't mind I would like to look into this. If there is a copycat in times like this, it needs to be taken care of.
