GM Dinketry |
Hey folks...welcome and congratulations. Let's have a good game!
I'd really like a post each day from y'all, but knock yourself out if you want to do more.
I need character sheets/HeroLab stat blocks....something like that...via email - webedunedinpfs@gmail.com. Thanks!
Please help me out by posting in your title line the following:
- hp
- AC (including touch and flat-footed)
- CMD (including any situationals)
- Saving Throws
- Initiative
- Perception, Sense Motive checks
I'll get other checks from you in PM if I need to do so...
Please use typical formatting for the posts...
this is out of character voice. try to keep this at a minimum in the Gameplay thread
"Try to bold and quote your dialogue."
These are thoughts. Use them as much as your character likes to think.
Ok, enough rules....We should game!

Dot, I'll update my sheet this morning and get the post up. Do you want day job checks up front?
L'Mont Penumberton |
Is anyone else having trouble posting on the gameplay thread?
Mongo DePon |
Updating my sheet now, I'll get it sent off to you this morning.
L'Mont Penumberton |
Hello!
It looks like the first post may have been deleted, which will mess up the gameplay thread. You may have to post in Website Feedback for some technical assistance.
That's odd. I'm pretty sure I posted a dot in gameplay last night to get this added to my Campaigns tab - it may have been the first post (I was pretty tired). But I don't think I deleted it.
Mongo DePon |
Well, I also just tried posting in the gameplay thread, only to see my post disappear. It did, on the bright side, cause my character to appear on the Characters tab.
GM Dinketry |
Hey folks - I've messaged website maintenance to get the Gameplay tab fixed. Sorry for the technical glitch. Once it's reopened, we will get started straight away.
In the meantime, send off your character sheets/files to me, please, at we.be.dunedinpfs@gmail.com.
Day Job checks right now would be fine, thanks!

Just sent off my character sheet. Day job check:
Craft (tattoo): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Well, that certainly makes spending a skill rank feel worthwhile.
GM Hmm |
I'm sorry this happened to you guys! If you delete your first post, it messes up your gameplay post. Only Paizo staff can fix it. Hopefully Chris will be on this soon, and get it reopened for you.
Hmm

While we are awaiting character sheets and website maintenance, I'd call attention to the Season 8 Faction cards and the rewards that you may reap from them.
This is an interlinked series of 5 quests, where completing more quests equals more gold and treasure. You can only make a Day Job or Faction Mission roll once (Sorry, L'Mont) for the entirety of this scenario - but your choice as to how you'd like to handle it.
Check out the Faction cards (free download!) while we get started. Thank to all who've sent me their character sheets to date.

Bolty |
Sent you relevant docs.

Wherever it is that we will start...
The small, cowled figure in black sits in a dark corner, next to a pile of little daggers. He holds a whetstone in one hand, and methodically sharpens each knife before replacing it in its place on his bandolier or in a concealed sheath on each wrist. He has arrived early, to be certain he would have time to finish this task before they would need to get started.
GM Dinketry |
I still haven't received two characters - TOZ and Master Glitterhoff...and we are still having technical difficulties. Hopefully we will launch soon.
Mongo DePon |
A burly half-orc awakens in his cramped, sparse quarters in Absolom. He stands, his joints popping loudly as he stretches.
"Oof"
Ugh, I'm so tired of these jobs in the sewers. Even when we're not fighting the kobolds they always "forget" to tell us where the traps are. Hope I get a few days off before my next gig.
Seeing one of the jugs of applejack scattered around the room still has a little left, he picks it up and takes a big swig.
Just making sure I have all the formatting right. Please ignore the dice roll below
Testing: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
I am here... will intro tonight or tomorrow AM
Ushi Goroshi |
Day Job Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Doing really good with these Day Jobs lately.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
GM, my stat block is on my profile, and my tag line is pretty complete. I need to confirm it is all correct, but is this good enough? Or do you still want an email?
GM Dinketry |
I'd still like an email for my records, please. Thanks. And your speed in your stat line is awfully fast for a gnome, or a mortal being. *wink*

I'm still awaiting one more HeroLab file, but I'm done waiting for the non-functioning link to be fixed.
I have migrated our Gameplay thread to a new link. Please click here. This Discussion thread has been merged with the new one; so all should work well.
"Should work well".

GM Dinketry |
Ushi, if you wouldn't mind, could you please list your stats as per my very first message in this thread in your by-line? Thanks.

Did you all migrate sately?
I hope so, and I hope you have a great game!
Hmm
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
GM Dinketry, could you close the defunkt game, please? This will get it off of our campaign page.
Thank you.
GM Dinketry |
Done. I just hope doesn't affect our current Gameplay and Discussion threads (they were linked/merged by the Powers That Be).
Let me know if anyone experiences any glitches. Apart from natural 1s.

Ushi Goroshi |
Doesn't seem to have caused any trouble. I see one inactive and one active on my Campaigns tab.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
Worked perfectly! Thank you!
GM Dinketry |
...am I supposed to see Batman in this?
I don't know what you're talking about. You've obviously failed a mind affecting spell of some sort.
GM Dinketry |
Do any of you know how I can put coordinates (i.e. A-L, 1-9) along the x- or y-axis of the maps in grid view using a Mac? I've got the digital files. I can edit the maps, but I'd like to put coordinates on the files so you can tell me where you are going. (Such as, I move to C6). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What application are you using, on what kind of file?
GM Dinketry |
Preview. On a PDF. I've also tried it on a JPEG. I also have Adobe, as well as GIMP.

I do this sort of thing in the Gimp.
I read in the maps that I have either from my PDFs of flip-mats or map packs, or I pull them out of the scenario. I measure the scale (pixels per square) of the map, and rescale it so that it's 50 pixels per square. (If it's out of a scenario, this almost always means scaling the map up. Occasionally, it means scaling down. If I read a PDF of a map pack or flip-mat, I can just read the PDF at 50 dpi to start with.)
That done, I have a file that I made before with numbers and letters spaced properly for 50dpi maps. I copy the layers with the letters and numbers over to my new map, cropping down the layer to fit if the map is smaller than my template. I save the thing out as a .xcf (Gimp format) to preserve the layers. I also read in character tokens (and resize them to 50x50, or 35x35 if they're small) and keep them as layers.
I move things around as necessary, including moving around the letter and number labelling. (That is, I keep them as their own layers so that I can still move them around!) I then crop out the relevant part of the map and post that for a PBP game.
Here is the Gimp file that has the layers with letters and numbers. (It also has a grid, in case I need to put that on top of a non-gridded map I've made or found myself.) 50pixgrid.xcf
Here is an example .xcf file for the Blakros Connection PbP I'm currently in the middle of: ForaeLogos.xcf. (Warning: mild spoilers for 07-09.)
These are the .jpg files I posted for the players in the game during the recent exploration and combat (Warning: more significant spoilers for 07-09.)
- ForaeLogos_01.jpg
- ForaeLogos_02.jpg
- ForaeLogos_03.jpg
- ForaeLogos_04.jpg
- ForaeLogos_05.jpg
- ForaeLogos_06.jpg
- ForaeLogos_07.jpg
I should probably also post this all in a general PbP thread.... :)

I would just add the letters/numbers in a text box in preview, then import it into Slides. You can add cropped screenshots of the avatars as moveable tokens, so we can handle our own moves that way (and may not even need the coordinate labels at that point.)
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
actually, you don't even need to crop them.
All I have ever done was to put the images in either google slides or draw, add the character's tokens, and let the players move themselves. Has almost always worked very well.

I haven't done it myself, so you're one up on me there. I just meant cropping out anything from the screenshot that isn't the avatar - if you can just right-click to save the image itself or something similar, that works even better.
L'Mont Penumberton |
And while we are on the topic of maps, Ushi is absolutely right. That map is a drawing of Batman.
Glastor Gilderhoff III |
Here is an example of a game I ran...
It is Horn of Aroden, so if you don't want any spoilers... let me know, I can put up Emerald Spire 1, Lyrics of Extinction, Scars of the Third Crusade, or Consortium compact, among others.
GM Dinketry |
Thanks for the "Aid Another" checks, everyone!
Despite all the excellent suggestions, y'all are going to be disappointed at my lacklustre maps...
Ha!

Here is the map I used for the first pbp I ran back in 2013. Thornkeep p1.
Actually that map is pretty awesome all things considered.
