Training Enchantment: Qualifying for Feats

Rules Questions

When applying the training enchantment to a weapon, some classes are able to ignore the requirements of feats due to some sort of class ability. Rangers, etc,

If the feat granted by the training enchantment is among those that the class treats as bonus feats, does that class use the enchantment as a bonus feat, or must they fulfill the requirement for the feat normally?

This was such a stretch that I had trouble adressing the question at all.

Bonus feats lets you ignore prerequisites, yes. But you don't get the ability to ignore prerequisites for bonus feats you don't have. Simple as that.

As an addon to what Wonderstell says, if you have a feature that says something along the lines of:

"This counts as Combat Expertise for all feats that require Combat Expertise as a Prerequisite"

You can use Training on items that require Combat Expertise, using your class feature as the stand-in.

That's not what I'm getting at.

I'll explain by example: Rangers with Archery combat style, get Far Shot, Focused Shot, Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, and Rapid Shot as bonus feats they can choose from initially.

At 2nd level they naturally get 1 archery combat style feat from that list. They ignore prerequisites for those feats.

If the ranger gets a bow with the training enchant and chooses say Focused Shot as the feat, does he or does he not have to "qualify normally" (as in not ignore prerequisites of Int 13, Point Blank Shot, and Precise Shot) in order to use the training enchant?

Or because this feat is on his list of bonus feats that he is normally allowed to ignore the prerequisites is he able to simply use the training (Focused Shot) enchantment out of the box?

I am expressly not talking about using the training enchantment to qualify for other feats. I'm asking how they interact with a class ability that allows a character to ignore prerequisites of a feat.

In those cases (such as a brawler's ability to ignore the 13 int requirement) you would be able to wield and benefit from a Training weapon with such a feat.

But Rangers don't get the ability to ignore prerequisites for all feats in their combat style. They get the ability to ignore prerequisites for the combat style feats they choose with the class feature.

If it worked as you propose then you would be able to take Point Blank Master as your second style feat and then take Improved Precise Shot (ignoring the BAB+11 requirement) as your 7th level progression feat. Which you can't.

I understand that rangers don't get to ignore prerequisites for certain feats until a certain level. That wasn't the gist of what I was saying. But I think you understood ultimately.

But my presumption of being able to ignore the prerequisites of the feat granted by the enchant as long as the feat qualifies as a feat who's prerequisites can be ignored is accurate.

You don't get to ignore if you don't take the feat as your bonus feat. So no you can't take it with training and ignore.

This needs a FAQ I think.

There is a master thread for this now. It's going to have large amount of table variance until FAQ.

Yep, definitely agreed there.
