It occurred to me that someone here might know more than I do about the update cadence. I'm looking forward to playing a new GM credit character, but I'm getting a backlog of concepts that are dependent on new material.
Have any of you heard anything about when the next update to the Additional Resources will be? The last update was on April 4th. It makes sense that they would hold off changes until after PaizoCon, but now that we are past the major convention I'm itching to get at those new books.
I know it is a long shot, but maybe someone here has some details or perhaps heard something at PaizoCon?

We're combining several months' updates this week and should see them on the website shortly after that.
Why does it take so long to get it online once it out of your hands? Do you not give it to them in a "publish ready" format?
This really is a pain point for your user base and anything that could be done to streamline this process will make zounds of people much happier.

In case you don't realize, Paizo is actually a *very* small company. At this time of year, the tech staff has an amazing amount of work to do for PaizoCon and then GenCon, on top of maintaining everything on a daily basis. Things like the AR update have to be put into the work queue and prioritized. While many players look forward to AR updates and eagerly await new resources being listed, that may have to take a back seat to things that the business needs to operate.
Be patient, grasshopper. ;-)

This fairly accurate. With the exception that the task of uploading/updating the page is performed by myself, and not our Tech Team :)

Yes, I do realize that. But an important part of customer feedback is for the ability for customers to provide feedback.. I get that multiple people have to work on it before it's ready. I don't understand why this process isn't more streamlined than it appears to be.
I would think there'd be a tool in place for John to do this directly rather than having to wait on Chris (i.e. the middle man) to be able to get to it.

Hear that Chris? You're a tool, man a TOOL! (kidding)
Seriously claudekennilol, I, and I'm guessing you, have no idea how the pages are updated, what programs they use, etc. I doubt John knows deeply as well. If John loaded the page and file, and made a mistake, then Chris would lose more time fixing it.
To look at it through the lens of my job. We handle intake of claims and can answer general questions. Now with my medical background, I can read the medical stuff that comes in, but I'm not trained/allowed to make that determination. why? Because I don't know all the intricacies of the systems we use. Yeah, I could get it right, but the risk is not worth it. So I'll make my intakes and let the examiners handle the claim, and John can write up the update and Chris can load it. :-)

Long story short with my programming background I know there's always a simpler way--especially in this scenario. If the tools are getting in the way of the product it's time to find a new tool.

Yes but a new tool requires someone to research it and make it (taking time away from other activities at the moment)followed by training in the new process. Followed by discovering all of the new things that now become inefficient under the new system (because it's like an ecosystem and undoubtedly other practices are already in place to account for whatever quirks arise). My experience with small organizations and talented people working with them is that most of the perceived concerns arise from the observer not seeing and understanding enough of all the different moving pieces to the organization.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if a new tool was on a to-do list or in an issue tracker somewhere. The problem is often prioritization! Paizo's team has a ton to do and not a whole lot of people to attack the backlog with.

Like I tell anyone I meet, I'm the kind of person that will spend an hour trying to automate a 5 minute process. I really don't know what you guys are trying to convince me of--if it's that a better process can't be implemented I simply won't ever believe you. If it's that my opinion that I've simply stated (and restated and subsequently needlessly defended) is wrong I also won't believe you.
John "turned in" the original update literally weeks ago. This isn't the first time it's been in limbo until it's been able to be published. I doubt it will be the last. Can you guys honestly sit there and tell me there isn't a better path from "document ready" to "document published"?
I shouldn't need to defend my simple yet well informed opinion that a better way is possible.

A better way may be possible but isn't necessary.
It's a good thing this phrase isn't given any credit. Otherwise we'd still be cavemen.
yeah cars may be possible, but they aren't necessary.
yeah, safer cars may be possible, but they aren't necessary.
Yeah, the internet may be possible, but isn't necessary.
The world functions and progresses because of doing things that weren't necessary but were possible and beneficial.
If it takes Chris 3 hours to convert the finished form John gives her to the Published form than that's what, at least 3 hours every month that she needs to fit in to publish this, 6 if it's bi-weekly updates.
If we create a better process than Chris can do it in 15 minutes and now saves 2.75 hours a month, or 5.5.

Hey folks, conjecture about how I do my job and our content management system isn't really necessary or even really appropriate. The main thing blocking the update has been time available to devote to it given other high priority items (such as our own convention and catching up from that). I have it on my radar, and it will get updated soon.

I appreciate the effort put into making our Organized Play what it is! The "Additional Resources" page has actually become one of my default browser tabs that opens when my home computer boots. Partially because I love to see the moment new content opens up, and partially to remind me to always double-check my stuff because I have a history of getting too excited about a recent find in some older module and accidentally using something that isn't PFS legal.
My point?
While I wouldn't mind knowing what day of the month/day of the week the AR gets updated, part of me actually likes the child-like whimsy of checking everyday "just in case", which keeps it more flexible a tool (especially in case they need an emergency errata).
I hope this post makes sense. I shouldn't be posting this late.
