Greetings Paizonians,
I am looking for additional players to join my long-running game, Chaos in Sarlona. It started back in August 2014 with six players. Of those six, one dropped out early due to not working well with the rest of the group, while four have since dropped out for real-life reasons. In October 2014, I did another recruitment thread and recruited three more players. The second recruitment was more successful, in that two of the three players stayed for a long time. Nearly two years later, two of those players have dropped due to real life reasons. I am down to a group of two (not including me), with one player (Te’Shen) having been in this game since the beginning, and the other player (mdt) joined in a couple months later in October 2014. I was discouraged by the large number of players who dropped out (though I’m pretty sure the players I lost dropped out of all there games, not just mine). Nevertheless, the two remaining players and I agreed that we want to keep going with this game, but with a bigger group. Although this game has been going on for quite some time, we are right at a major transition point in the story so far, and this time is ideal for bringing new people into the game. I am looking to refill the group with up to four additional players, though I could squeeze in a seventh person if there is an unexpectedly large amount of demand. I’m really hoping that this time people won’t come down with sudden cases of real life, and we can keep a decent sized group for a long time. Hopefully the third time recruiting will be the charm…..
The world and setting:
This game is set in the Eberron Campaign Setting, on the continent of Sarlona. I will expect you to have at least some familiarity with the setting. Eberron Wiki is a decent free resource for information on the world of Eberron. The best introduction to the setting is the original Eberron Campaign Setting book (first published for 3.5 in 2003 as a hardcover, but released as a PDF in 2014). That book mainly focuses on Khorvaire, though, with only a brief overview of Sarlona. The definitive reference for Sarlona is Secrets of Sarlona. If you character is from Khorvaire and has only arrived in Sarlona recently, your character probably won’t know much of the secrets in Secrets of Sarlona.
Wait, what happened in the last two years of the game?
I don’t expect you to read the entire gameplay thread. Your character wouldn’t necessarily know everything that has happened to the previous PCs, anyways. If you want to tie your character’s backstory to events or characters that were previously introduced in this game, though, it would be helpful to have some idea of what has gone on so far.
The campaign so far has taken place mostly in Adar, and concerned the Adarian struggles against constant Riedran invasion. However, I expect the campaign to move into a new phase centered in Syrkarn. Syrkarn is an odd place in Sarlona, because it could be conquered easily by Riedra, but Riedra has chosen not to do so, and Adar has not made any effort to stop Riedra from conquering Syrkarn.
What follows is my attempt at a reasonably concise summary of the key events in this game so far, along with information about the world (not covered in the published books) that the PCs have learned and that I expect to be relevant in the game going forwards:
Campaign summary begins here:
For centuries, Adar has been sealed off from the rest of Sarlona, and from Khorvaire. Recently, however, the Adarans have decided to allow a single ship from Khorvaire to land in the coastal town of Dvaarnava. The Khorvairian passangers were given considerable screening to ensure that none of them were under Quori influence. Among the passengers from Khorvaire were Esmeralda, Haazek, Gedeon, and Revion four of the original six PCs.
Upon landing in Dvaarnava, those four were quickly diverted from the other arriving passengers and were ushered into a hidden cavern. Seemingly by chance, also arriving in the cavern were Helac the kalashtar and Acorn the oakling, both of whom were previous residents of Adar. These were the other two original PCs. Once all six adventurers were together, a kalashtar named Qara (or ‘Q’) revealed herself. Qara explained that she and her partner had orchestrated their arrival in Adar and at this location in particular to recruit them for an important task. Qara claims to be an ally of the Summit Road, a group of Adarans dedicated to protecting their land from Riedra. She also explains that a Riedran conquest would be devastating not just for Adar, but for Khorvaire as well.
Qara initially sends the PCs to investigate an anomalous confluence of extra-planar portals detected in Syrkarn, which she fears could be turned into a weapon by the Inspired. Qara’s partner, a xeph named Sidrian (or ‘S’), psychoports the PCs to an area near the western border of Adar, from which the PCs have to proceed on foot. (Neither Q nor S can go with the PCs, as their intelligence suggests they will be needed to ward off an open invasion from Riedra along the eastern border. S couldn’t teleport the PCs directly to where they needed to go because the Shroud restricts teleportation within Adar.)
The PCs never actually left Adar, though, as they were quickly side-tracked into another adventure. The PCs found that an Inspired lord had managed to sneak into Adar for the first time in centuries, but that he had already been killed. His killer was not a defender of Adar, but a group of yuan-ti from Syrkarn with unknown motives. The PCs investigated these yuan-ti further, and discovered that they were searching for something called the Tremble Tooth, after previously obtaining the Shadow Tooth.
Upon further investigation, the PCs eventually discovered an ancient city buried deep underground in Adar. The city had been inhabited by yuan-ti thousands of years earlier. By the time they had arrived at the city, however, Acorn, Esmeralda, and Haazek had been separated from the other three. Esmeralda’s player announced that they had had a change in work schedule and so needed to drop out of almost all pbps. Haazek’s player disappeared completely without prior notice, and stopped posting anywhere on Paizo.com. Acorn’s player stated that he really disliked psionics and didn’t want to play in a game in which psionics would play a large role (I think he was previously unfamiliar with Eberron, or he would have known not to sign up for a game set in Sarlona.) Those three were made NPCs, separated from the group, and have not been seen in-character since.
At this time, the three remaining PCs encountered three others: Kiana, Nik’o, and Tierney the new PCs arrived on the outskirts of the underground city shortly after Helac, Gedeon, and Revion. These three had also been recruited by Q and S, but they had actually been sent to this area. Qara soon contacted all six of the PCs telepathically, and asked them to find the Tremble Tooth from the Starlight Tomb in the center of the city.
Along the way, the PCs witnessed a halfling named Charivia being brought back to life by a shapeshifter for unknown purposes. They also encountered a bunch of yuan-ti, all with Syrk accents, in the “abandoned” city. By the time the PCs found and entered the Starlight Tomb, both Gedeon and Tierney had been separated from the group. Tierney’s player posted saying they would no longer be able to access the forum regularly, and so dropped out of all games. Gedeon’s player just vanished without a word, and stopped posting anywhere on this website and didn’t respond to PMs.
Once they were inside the Starlight Tomb, the PCs encountered two other groups that had arrived slightly ahead of them. The first was a small group of the Harmonious Shield, led by a changeling named Leehlan. Leehlan and his followers had come to Adar and broken in to the Starlight Tomb to acquire an artifact from the Age of Giants.
The other group they encountered in the Tomb were part of a Syrk tribe called the Prugshuuns, consisting of a mix of yuan-ti, eneko, and humans. They are also looking for the Tremble Tooth, but they are just as hostile to the Riedrans as they are to the PCs.
The PC learn that the Prugshuun are part of a three-way rivalry among the major Syrk tribes. One of their enemies is the Shaaral tribe from norther Syrkarn, and the Shaaral are widely believed to be under the influence of the Inspired. Kiana also realizes that her family was killed by the Shaaral. The Syrk also claim that their Queen is a direct decended of Fremaryllis, the ancient king who was buried in this tomb.
To get into the vault with the Tremble Tooth, the PCs needed to collect four Keys hidden throughout the tomb, as well as a “living key.” They discover through eavesdropping that the leader of the group of Prugshuun, called Lord Anesti, has gone to search outside of the tomb for the living key. The PCs ultimately get the four keys, and drive off or kill most of the Harmonious Shield soldiers (but not the leader).
Anesti returns to the Tomb and negotiates with the PCs over the Tremble Tooth. He agrees to let the PCs get the tooth if they can bring him a locket held by Leehlan (the leader of the Riedrans who are in the tomb). The PCs ultimately fight Leehlan and get his locket, but the changeling himself escapes alive.
Once they have the locket, Anesti reveals that he was the one who brought Charivia back to life: she had been the living key before her death 100 years earlier. Bringing her back restored the Key, but also transferred it to Nik’o, making him the living key. Anesti’s followers are abruptly sent back to Syrkarn to deal with an event occurring there, but Anesti himself remains in Adar. With all the keys in tow, the PCs and Anesti enter the vault to encounter the ghost of King Fremaryllis and search for the Tremble Tooth….
Campaign summary ends here
And here’s where you come in…
Although the PCs are currently in Adar, they will soon exit the Starlight Tomb. When they do, they will be given a strong incentive to go to southern Syrkarn, near the port town of Ardhmen. If your character is from Khorvaire, you could be just getting off of a boat at Ardhmen. If your character is native to Sarlona, or immigrated to Sarlona long before the campaign starts, then you will need to decide on another reason your character is in or around Ardhmen. Maybe you were secretly hired by Qara and Sidrian, just as the other PCs were. Maybe you are affiliated with some other faction that has a stake in the battle between Adarians and Riedrans over Syrkarn. Maybe it was just luck that you will end up meeting the other PCs….
Character Creation
First and foremost, your character ought to have a compelling background and motivations that connect them with Sarlona. If your character is not originally from Sarlona, what drove them to come here? What are they trying to accomplish? If your character is from Sarlona, what are their standings with respect to the major Sarlonan nations (Adar, Reidra, Syrkarn, and the Tashana Tundra)? Is your character affiliated with an existing faction within Sarlonan society? For bonus points, include two things your character is deeply afraid of.
I WILL MAKE MY BEST EFFORT TO INCLUDE YOUR CHARACTER’S BACKSTORY AND GOALS IN THE PLOT OF THIS CAMPAIGN, so please do put thought into them.
Now, let’s move on to the crunch of your character. The PCs already in the game are currently level five (we are using the fast xp track), so you should create 5th level characters. I use a single xp value for all everyone, so you will start with the same xp total as the other PCs (currently 13,135).
Ability Scores: Generate your character’s starting ability scores using 20 point-buy (and increase one ability score from levels, since you are starting at level 5).
Classes and Races: Any classes and races from the list of pre-approved sourcebooks (see below) are allowed. For anything outside the list, ask.
Traits: You can start with two traits from any of the pre-approved sourcebooks. You can also take up to two drawbacks for extra traits. No campaign traits are allowed, even if they are in a pre-approved sourcebook.
Magic items and equipment: You may start with your choice of gear with a total value of up to 14,000 gp. That is a little more than normal 5th level WBL, because you are effectively starting about half-way through level five. You may not start with any single item whose worth is more than 3,000 gp. Other than that restriction, your starting gear can consist of any items from the pre-approved sourcebook list (for anything else, just ask me).
Pre-approved sourcebooks:
--Pathfinder Core Rulebook and Bestiary
--The Secrets of Adventuring
--Pathfinder Bestiaries 2, 3, 4, and 5
--Ultimate Psionics
--Advanced Players Guide
--Path of War
--Ultimate Combat
--Strange Magic
--Ultimate Magic
--Ultimate Antipodism
--Ultimate Equipment
--1001 Spells
--In the Company of Monsters
--Pathfinder Advanced Race Guide
--All official Eberron products written for 3.5: conversions for some content from 3.5 to Pathfinder can be found in the “campaign info” tab. For conversions of all other Eberron content into Pathfinder, ask me.
…Oh, and since this fact caused some confusion for one of the original players who wasn’t familiar with the setting: Sarlona is the continent in Eberron with the most psions and psionics users. There will be many psionics-using NPCs, in addition to at least one psionics-using PC. If you are one of those people who doesn’t want psionics to be a part of your D&D games, this campaign probably isn’t for you.

Are archetypes from the approved sourcebooks kosher as well?
Yes, archetypes from the listed sources are allowed. (For archetypes from other sources, please ask.)
DM would you prefer a Half-Elf Cleric of the Traveler of House Medani (Chaotic Neutral)or a Warforged Inquisitor Heretic of the Sovereign Host (Lawful Neutral) submission?
Either way I am interested!
Either of those could work. Which one do you have a better story for? Why do you think they are on Sarlona?

I have a better story for the Warforged. I would need to give thought s to why he was on Sarlona and I could probably have an extended background and level him up to 5th no later than Wednesday. The juices are already churning as to why he is going to Sarlona :-)

I briefly played a character in a local Eberron game in which I portrayed a shulassakar divine mind - would this be doable? Shulassakar are a human branch that serve the couatl in a fashion similar to how the yuan-ti are connected to demonic snake spirits, described here.
The divine mind class is essentially a psionic paladin-esque character. It appears in the Complete Psionic for 3.5e.
Thoughts? Such a character would be a psionic crusader, and would obviously have hooks into fighting the Dreaming Dark in Sarlona.

Tyeal |

I've always been curious to play in Ebberon. Even better that I get the rare chance to play a Psion of any kind.
I have an idea forming in my mind over a Tiefling Shaper that I'm still hamming out the fluff for. Crunch is largely complete. Should be a pretty interesting beginning if I can make sense of it... Details soon to come.

![]() |
Also, FWIW:
* I'm a longtime fan of psionic systems.
* I also enjoy the Sarlona storyline in Eberron as provided in the Secrets of Sarlona sourcebook, because I think they did a pretty good job of doing a pseudomystical reflavoring of the cultural conflict between China and Tibet.
* The particular character that I'm pitching, Atsu Tzolotl, is effectively a psionic human who is embroiled in the ideological warfare of the psychic force of the concepts of good vs. evil.

Lore Militain |

And here he is! Lore Militain, a Tiefling Shaper that wasn't summoned or bound or the result of a curse. But of the last expenditure of the will of a powerful Shaper to carry on his name/legacy. Or to complete some long-held quest. He's not sure which. All while he tries to find a way to keep from fading from existence when his 'time' runs out.

Sarah Rylin'dar was born to a wealthy merchant family. She spent most of her early life accompanying her father on Caravan trips. When not traveling with his caravan, she enjoyed the pampered life available to the rich and affluent in the city of Coran. Her fairy tale life danced along until the fateful night her father's caravan was attacked by orcs. Unable to hold off the orc and goblin raiders, most of the men including Lord Rylin'dar fled from their attackers. In doing so, they left Sarah unprotected. She was taken that night by her assailants. No one knows what happened during that night of torment; but when she was found the next day by a few caravan guards rummaging for anything left of value, she was naked and beaten to the very edge of death.
Sarah was taken home and cared for by the best physicians in Coran. After months of care, her body was healed. Unfortunately, her mind was never the same. Lord Rylin'dar spent the next few months attempting to live with what had become of his daughter. She began to show signs that she had been impregnated by one of the orcs. Full of shame and regret for his cowardess the night she was taken, Lord Rylin'dar placed Sarah in an institution. Her bastard son was born there. An nurse who was assigned to Sarah at the mental institution named the boy Arvangail, which meant son of my torment in elven. The boy was quickly taken from his mother after birth and sold on the black market as a slave. He was bought by Men from Issut Hold and groomed for mining. The first fifteen years of his life were spent in hard labor. With each year and each stroke of his pick, hatred grew in the heart of Arvengail. His slave masters reminded him time and time again of his bastard birth and lunatic of a mother. He prayed for the day he could break the chain of bondage and reap his revenge. That day would soon come.
One day deep in an iron mine, Arvangail unearthed something rather unexpected. A chip in the wall exposed the opening of a shallow hole in the side of the cavern. A blood red light pierced through the pin sized hole Drovic's pick had made. Dark voices whispered to him as he peered through the hole. As he continued to slam his pick into the wall, more and more of the rock opened until he could make out a small room. It took him only a few minutes to make the hole large enough to crawl through. Once inside, he found the object that was casting the light, a small grotesque leather mask. Both of the slits used as eyes were glowing and drawing him. Arvengail reached for the totem mask, but was startled when he could almost hear voices. Arvangail reached for the mask. As soon as he touched it, power coursed through his body. Slowly he raised it to his face. When it finally touched his weathered skin, every sin that had been committed against Arvangail raced through his mind. He laid on the ground for what seemed like days. When the memories finally faded, he was left with a feeling of absolute power. Armed with the mask and his pick, Arvengail went back into the cavern. Led by the spirits he could now seen and feel, and armed with powers he managed to stow away on a caravan far away. He has managed to live off wandering until now with the goal to free the greater lore totem spirit that was bonded into an object of power. The greater Totoem spirit that help free Arvangail from the bonds and shackled.
His search has landed him to Sarlonia, the continent of secrets where the object he seeks was brought.
Tonight, as he heads out of the boat in Ardhmen he feels closer to his quest and the fulfillment of the bargain he made many years ago

I say submit a character Oceanshield! Or at least submit something to the Eberron Recruitment I'll be placing up on the boards in the next day or so. :-)

Hey Shakraal! My favorite female Orc!

Storyteller Shadow |

Pierce is different from most Warforged, he never fought in the last war as one of the last of his “kind” to be created by House Cannith before the forges were ordered to be closed by the Treaty of Thronehold. Pierce was in training to become a Ranger but perhaps due to an accident in his creation his mind was much sharper than many other members of his “kind”.
In addition to ending the Last War, the Treaty freed all Warforged leaving them without purpose. Pierce was left disillusioned, only weeks after stepping into the world from, wherever his kind gained sentience, he was now alone. No friends, no allies, no family. Pierce wandered from the Sharn Enclave of House Cannith into the streets of Sharn.
For months he wandered around the city gaining insight into its layout and the beings that dwelled there. All the while, he kept his form as hidden as possible from the “living” who seemed to despise his kind. Warforged do not sleep and Pierce used that time well spending many nights reading on numerous topics in Morgrave University. Professor Dash Dannigan on the faculty approved Pierce's nightly ventures in part to get to know on a personal level a Warforged as they were fast becoming more than mere servitors and in part because a Warforged attached to the Library would make an excellent night watchman and one for whom no payment would be required.
History, Engineering, Nature, of Sharn itself, Geography, Magic and finally of Religion. These books though did not provide Pierce the answers he sought, what was his purpose?
In interactions with the Warforged who did return to Sharn – Pierce did not gain any further insight from them but certainly the bitterness he felt was mirrored in these poor constructs. With all avenues exhausted, Pierce sought out High Priest Phthaso Mogan of the Pavilion of the Host to seek the Dwarves wisdom. While Pierce found few answers he did hear the call of the Sovereign Host, most specifically Aureon seemed to whisper directly to Pierce.
Perhaps it was because Pierce was not present at House Cannoth long enough to be warded away from religion like others of his kind but he took to the religious duties as few Warforged have. His calling was not that of a Cleric but of an Inquisitor, he was too aloof and disliked to be a member of the clergy proper. The life of an Inquisitor though suited the Warforged quite well.
For a few years Pierce served the Sovereign and the High Priest by default. However, his view of the Gods were much different than others of his order. He saw himself in a partnership with the Sovereign and more specifically with Aureon, after all, was Pierce not immortal unlike the “Breathers” who made up the vast portion of Sharn and the world at large. Perhaps House Cannith was merely a vessel for the Warforged to be created?! Such discussions led to censure by the High Priest.
Pierce, not one to worry overmuch about such things, began operating on his own. In such a large city it was easy to serve the Host and Aureon the way he saw fit, the Order itself be damned.
His work has recently begun as an Inquisitive for Information Acquisitions, run by Kalaash’arrna, a half-orc with the Lesser Mark of Finding. While dour in nature, Pierce is perceptive and knowledgeable, his spells granted by the Sovereign only heighten his abilities. In the course of his dealings he has come into contact with the dwarven associate of Abraxus Wren, Torin.
Torin has utilized Pierce on matters too small for Wren's attention or in matters tangential to cases Wren is working on. Pierce has yet to meet the famous and somewhat reclusive Wren, he has little interest in doing so really, after all, he is just another Breather who counts his life in shorter and shorter amounts of breath.
In addition to his acquaintance with Turin, Pierce has also struck up an unlikely friendship with Dorius Del Davandi, a charasmatic Gnome reporter of the Sharn Inquisitive. As with all of Pierce's other relationships, this is one of quid pro quo. Pierce assists in questioning witnesses for the gnomes articles in places where the gnome fears to tread while the gnome feeds Pierce information on cases where necessary.
Recently Pierce joined a group of Inquisitives, the Wandering Eye. After his first successful mission with the group uncovering a Professor seeking to usurp the findings of an associate Professor one of his old acquaintances, Dorius approached him with a new assignment.
”The market for Dreamlilly within Sharn has recently been growing exponentially. A source of mine in the Sharn Watch has stated that the drug is coming from the mysterious continent of Sarlona. The drug is highly addictive and can cause serious side effects. I would like to write an expose on this growing story could your new group of Inquisitives investigate for me?”
Pierce and the group agree to the assignment and within a week are able to find a syndicate which is importing the drug into the city. Pierce spends the week moving among the addicts in flophouses addicted to the drug and takes some pity on these Breathers. After the article is published in the Sharn Inquisitive the syndicate is broken up by the Watch but Pierce knows this will not be the end of it. He approaches the Watch commander and convinces him to hire the Wandering Eye to root out further dealers within Sharn while he journeys to Sarlona, specifically to the port town of Ardhmen in Skrkarn where the drug seems to be originating from.
Prior to heading to Sarlona, Pierce contacts Professor Dash Dannigan to learn more about the history of Sarlona and its peoples and environs. After a week of non-stop study Pierce boards a ship bound for Sarlona ready to start his investigations into the importation of this drug…
What does Pierce fear: (1) Being wrong about his heresy, this fear is at a subconscious level and he would never vocalize it, and (2) finding out the secret of what makes Warforged what they are. He feels this this information is best left hidden. Especially since in his estiation it was the will of the Soveriegn that brought him into being, the Soverign simply utilized House Cannith to make it so.

Hmm, interesting, I had not seen that article before. The catch is that Sarlona yuan-ti are quite different from Xen'Drik yuan-ti (I'm somewhat surprised Baker glosses over that distinction in the article).
Anyhow, it does seem like it could work, and there are plenty of ways I could work it into the story.Yuan-ti (and hence shulassakar) are quite strong for a PC race, so you'd probably need to be a couple of levels lower than the other PCs (technically in 3.5 you would have to be six levels lower, from 4 RHD and a +2 LA. That's too much IMO, as the 4 racial hit-dice aren't really worth four levels, and the +2 LA should be knocked down due to Pathfinder's races being stronger in general. I'd initially eye-ball the whole package as being worth about two or three levels, so you'd be starting with two or three class levels. That assessment might alter slightly once I've gotten a full night's sleep, though.)
As to the Divine Mind class...eek. Last time someone in my home campaign tried that class, he was grinding his teeth over its clunky-ness and had difficulty keeping up with the rest of the party. More importantly, it would require some conversion to deal with the xp costs for some of its features, and, like many manifester classes, it doesn't play nicely with level adjustment or racial hit-dice. If you really, truly have your heart set on using the Divine Mind class, there might be a way we could get it to work, but I won't encourage it....
I would be interested. Do you allow Warforged?
This alias was made for another game (didn't get selected) but could be easily adapted. Can you give a link to your 'campaign info' tab?Edit: Found it HERE!
So let me rephrase: Would you allow a Magus with the Mindblade archtype?
Warforged are allowed (see the campaign info tab for a conversion to PF).
As for the Mindblade, I hadn't heard of it before today, so let me read it over...hmm....okay, that looks acceptable.I will go on record as saying, I highly recommend you strongly consider Jesse Heinig. Quality guy, there :)
Oh ElegantlyWasted! Back atcha. We did some connected characters briefly in another game that folded due to other obligations on the DM. Fun and cooperative! :D

I will keep these comments in mind:)
My only venture in Ebberon have been trough Shadows of the Last War
and Whispers of the Vampire's Blade.
Well, and Aubrey's campaign for awhile, until you had disagreements with him (unless my memory is getting really bad).
Oceanshieldwolf wrote:Looks like you have some strong contenders here DMB, and some that are more invested in the Sarlona storyline than I am. I'll bow out of this one. Have fun all!!! :)I say submit a character Oceanshield! Or at least submit something to the Eberron Recruitment I'll be placing up on the boards in the next day or so. :-)
I agree with Storyteller Shadow on this one.
For those of you who already have complete submissions
I'll comment on all of them in seperate posts tomorrow!
And to think that just two days ago I was worried I wouldn't be able to find enough players....

Thanks for taking a quick look at my questions. To clarify:
* I would be playing a shulassakar who is basically just a flavored human. If permitted I would take the snake blood feat. This gives a strong flavoring of the shulassakar heritage without taking an actual yuan-ti subrace and associated powers/abilities -- basically, a human cultist with just a touch of the strange.
* I didn't have trouble with the divine mind when I played before, but I'm not necessarily married to having a high-performance high-output character.

As for me, I am leaning towards a Warforged (likely Psiforged) Cryptic (likely Lost Mind archetype*)
*Regarding the Lost Mind Archetype, that is in Psionics Augmented, which I do not see on your list of allowed books. If that was a purposeful choice, then I have no issue with that, but I was wondering if you [forgot about the book / didn't know about it / chose not to include it since it came out after your game started]. though upon closer inspection it seems that Psionics Augmented falls under Ultimate Psionics??
I will fluff out the character idea more, particularly why a psiforged is on Sarlona (involving potentially the fact that a creature that doesn't dream is ideal for use against quori). I just need to re-read Secrets of Sarlona since that is a supplement I rarely got to use back in the day.

the Nagaji PF race somewhat mirrors yuan-ti, particularly if DMB were to change the Ability Score racial trait to more closely mirror a Sarlonan Yuan-ti. The other traits seem fairly spot-on.
I guess I'm not being clear: the character is not intended to use one of the yuan-ti templates. Maybe think of it like this: the yuan-ti come in varying degrees of "purity" (or corruption, if you like), ranging from halfbloods to purebloods to abominations. This character is not on that scale -- not even at the halfblood level. He has "just a touch." Mechanically he is just a human with the snake blood feat and a very unconventional background.

Presenting:
"ARVANGAIL
Lore Shaman Witch Doctor 5
Medium Half-elf / Humanoid (Half-elf)
Snip
First off, the fluff. "Orcs raiding a caravan" is not a common occurance in Eberron, so this whole story seems somewhat jarring. Where in the world is your first paragraph taking place? For that matter, where are Coran or the Issut Hold? It's okay if you want to invent (for example) a village or small town for your character to have come from, but it should at least have a place in the established world of Eberron.
Also, in your third paragraph, you refer to " A blood red light pierced through the pin sized hole Drovic's pick had made. " Who's Drovic? Now on to the crunch. You picked a class that wasn't on the pre-approved list without asking first. You also have Dervish Dance, which I don't think is in one of the sources I listed. I'll allow Dervish Dance anyways, but ask next time first, please.
Hmm, interesting background!
I get the sense from the description that he is not originally from Sarlona, and so is probably from Khorvaire. Is that assumption correct on my part?On the crunch side of things, I only see one trait (Seeker). You get one other for free.
Otherwise, everything seems to be in order.
Storyteller Shadows full submission. Pierce - Agent of the Sovereign. Inquisitor (Heretic) 4/Artificer 1.
The crunch looks good, I don't have any comments on it.
The traditions of the Sovereign Host actually originated in Sarlona, so perhaps that is another reason he has come to Syrkarn. Otherwise, it looks good. Now, to answer the individual questions (in a seperate post)....

1. Ah, okay, a shulassakar-themed human would be a lot easier. Okay, you can take the Snake Blood feat as well.
2. You can play a Divine Mind if you want to.

For Warforged, use the conversion in the campaign info tab. Lost Mind is in Ultimate Psionics on page 265, so it is allowed. The "Psionics Augmented" products released before UPsi were compiled into UPsi and only released seperately for those who already had PU and the Advanced Psionics Guide and didn't want to re-buy that content. "Psionics Augmented" products released more recently are not included in UPsi.
Just realized I did not do HP, are we rolling, 1/2 +1, some other system?
Oops, I should have put this information in the OP:
For HP, you get maximum HP on your first hit-die and half-maximum HP on all subsequent hit-dice. Do not roll for HP.@Ben: Thanks! I've started putting my submission to together, but I'm working 12 hour shifts right now. When do you plan to close recruitment?
I want to give everyone a minimum of a week to get their submissions done. I can extend recruitment a bit past then if necessary (or if there are fewer than four completed submissions.)

As I was falling asleep last night I was considering how the Archtype Heretic might fit into his motivations for the trip. Did not now the Sovereign Host originated there, that is pretty perfect actually, will update the background to reflect this port of the motivation.
Thanks DM.
Will also update with HP as per your comment above.
EDIT: Profile updated.

Bingo. His swampy home is located in Khorvaire. Annoying the CRB didn't include a WORLD map, just a few key continents.
Psychoportive Talent IS his 2nd trait. Here's the link to it on the PFSRD - [Psychoportive Talent]
Oh, and because I couldn't find room for it in the full write-up of Lore's background (this is simply a potential plot hook), his index finger can turn into a key. And he has no idea what it's for.

Deranged_Maniac_Beth |
Do you use background skills? Guessing no, but wanted to ask.
No.
For the half-value of dice, do you mean, for instance:
a D8 would be 4 HP because 4 is the mathematical half of 8
or
a D8 would be 5 because 4.5 is the actual average of a D8 roll and that would round up to 5.
By half max I mean half of the maximum, not the average:)

Huh, I don't know why I didn't see Psychoportive Talent there earlier. Never mind:P

I've built out an alias for my shulassakar divine mind, Atsu Tzolotl.
This character can tank defensively pretty well, and if he's using his attack aura he can hit reasonably hard too -- plus when he charges his weapon with psychic power he can really slam it home.
In roleplay, he tends toward the taciturn side: Lots of short, terse comments, maybe the occasional grunt. He's very dedicated to the whole "lawful good" idea but he is willing to maybe bend a bit here and there (as needed for the RP to be a good group dynamic!).
I took some Aztec inspirations for the character's style, hence the use of a terbutje, but he also has the kind of heavy armor one would expect of a "modern" warrior in Eberron. I felt that having some Mesoamerican influence fit well with the idea of being a couatl cultist.

Wait, a recruitment thread that uses my favorite realm, Dreamscarred Press psionics and Path of War, In the Company of (et al) and 1001 spells? Are you my evil twin clone, Deranged_Maniac_Ben? Submission coming in after two questions.
A)Would you support the other In the Company of sets that weren't a part of the entire Rite Publishing PDF, like in the Company of Unicorns or the one that allows you to be a construct?
B)Are artificers allowed, given the background?

Okay, it looks pretty good. I should probably warn you that I use neutral NPCs a lot, so you might have difficulty making use of your psionic protection from evil (remember the 3.5->PF transition nerfed PfE so that it no longer affect neutral creatures). If you're comfortable with that, then it's fine, but don't expect it to work all the time.
What are Atsu's greatest fears?
Otherwise, it looks good.

I am not at liberty to discuss my origins, and I will neither confirm nor deny claims that I may or may not be a clone, simulacron, ice assassin, or an evil twin.
A)I'll allow any of the In the Company of series except for In the Company of Unicorns and In the Company of Rakshasa (because I don't have either of those two yet:( .)
B)Yes, see the the campaign info tab for a conversion of the articifer to Pathfinder.
