So.
Based on a recent post in which I recognized that I had all but one of the achievements in the 101 Achievement for Playing an RPG thread, I figured I should compile the things I've accomplished from that thread... and open up a place where others could, too.
The most recent post, as of this writing, so updates thereafter might see future posts from me!
Some are spoiler'd for space:
Mission Impossible: Get through an entire, multiple hour session without anyone making a Monty Python reference.
Huzzah!
Scams:"The rich and powerful take what they want." Lose something to someone who abused their position/wealth... "We steal it back for you." ... and get it back."Can't cheat an honest man." Turn someone's own greed and desires against them.
"Well I had to indulge in a bit of Mickey-Waffle" Stall someone by talking a lot without actually saying much.
"How much you wanna bet I can't bite my own eye?" Use a glass eye to your advantage (not necessarily your own glass eye).
"The con is on." Bring someone down without having to fight (and make a nice pile of cash in the process).
Took me a while, but I've come up with all of those.
"It's a very distinctive X." Roll a natural 20 when identifying something (a spell, a creature, an NPC's job, etc).
Yes.
Social Guffaws and General Forgetfulness:Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Fail a Diplomacy check at a crucial, campaign-changing moment.Open Foot, Insert Mouth: Receive an impromptu amputation from something with sharp, pointy teeth.
Must You?: Play a bard and successfully seduce your way to bed with at least three different NPCs.
I Thought You Had It?: Misplace an artifact or other item that you were sent to retrieve.
Did We Forget Something?: Leave a plot-crucial NPC for dead.
<snip>
That Guy: Arrive to a session with a cheesed-out character.
Anybody Want a Peanut?: Roll a natural 20 on a Perform (oratory) check.
But It's What My Character Would Do!: Avoid having your alignment becoming changed with a well-thought-out argument.
<snip>
"Must You?" is a little questionable, because I've not actually done that as a bard...
Leadership Three:A Lot Of Friends: take the leadership feat (or any similar feat from the Cohorts & Companions book) and only have noncombatant followers and cohorts.Mage's Guildmaster: take the leadership feat (or any similar feat from the Cohorts & Companions book) and only have Spellcasting followers and cohorts.
War Leader: take the leadership feat (or any similar feat from the Cohorts & Companions book) and only have followers and cohorts with a base attack bonus equal to their level or proficiency in all martial weapons.
YUP.
A good deal: Succeed at 8 profession checks
Yay, me!
A Big Ball of Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff
Give the GM a week-long migraine by abusing the time-travel device they thoughtlessly gave you.
Avoided this as a GM several times now. (On the other hand, I've had this with a comparatively mundane portal device several times now...)
Not How You Use It: Fail 5 use magic device or disable device checks pertaining to a single object
Sigh. That was an embarrassing period.
No One Expects The...: Kill an enemy with an improvised weapon
Especially not if they're undead!
I SHIP IT!!!: Marry an NPC after completing the adventure
Done.
There can be only one: Be the only being to survive a dungeon. Not just of the party, but everything else in the dungeon must die or be destroyed also.
Yes. Fortunately, I went in alone...
Andoren idol- succeed at a perform check to try and change a creature's mood
Hooray!
"That is Not Dead Which Can Eternal Lie..." (communicate with a dead god)
"...And With Strange Eons, Even Death May Die" (resurrect a dead god)
Run 'em both as GMs, but, interestingly, in different campaigns.
A Team! - Have every party member contribute something significant in a boss fight.
Not the Intended Use - Destroy something big with a mundane object. (Like a demiplane with rope)
Yay for teamwork and unintended uses!
Life and mostly Death:"Not Today" (return from the dead)"Not Anytime Soon" (return from the dead 3 times)
"Not In This Lifetime" (return from the dead 5 times)
Done.
Castlevania - Wield a whip and a vial of holy water or a holy symbol at the same time.
Hah! Yeah. Didn't work that well.
Chips Ahoy! - Deal out a tiny amount of chip damage to an enemy and have it be the deciding factor for bringing an enemy to 0 HP or below before your next round.
"Achievement Number 404: Good Job Breaking it, Hero!"
[Unlock: Character must break the game and ruin things for everyone.]
Look. "Everything" is a little bit of an exaggeration. >.>
Firefighters do it!: have your character shave his/her beard.
Yeah. It was kind of skipped over though.
Not an Orphan
Created a PC whose parents weren't tragically killed.
Hah! Yeah...
I had one that said something about roll a 1, then roll on the critical failure chart and end up injuring an ally instead of your enemy.
Friendly Fire Isn't.
Look, now, that wasn't my fault!
I'm just that Charming: Seduce the BBEG at the end of the module.
Hah! Oh, man... yeah. :I
The Power of Snuggles Compels You! - Grapple a charmed or dominated party member in order to keep them from going crazy/
Hah! Oh, man... yeah. :I
Dawg - be the only male party member in an otherwise all-female party, and hit on every last one of them.
Hah! Oh, man... yeah. :I
(Incidentally, this was the one where the non-bard ended up with the former BBEG...)
Fearsome cubed warrior
Convince (not create) a construct to join the party.
Done it!
Skills:Know-it-all: Have at least 1 skill point in all knowledge skills.Cunning Linguist: Have at least 10 skill points in language.
Renaissance Man: Have at least 1 skill point in all skills (to include all knowledge skills). Requires only 1 point each in craft, perform, and profession.
Master Craftsman: Have a skill rating of 10 or higher in 4 craft skills or 1 skill point in all craft skills. [/b]
The Entertainer: Have a skill rating of 10 or higher in 4 difference performance skills or 1 skill point in all performance skills. [/b]
Chairman of the Board: Have a skill rating of 10 or higher in 4 different profession skills or 1 skill point in all profession skills. [/b]
It... it's like you're reading my character sheets... >.>
Chump Change: Get past a werewolf's DR by using silver coins.
Hah! Classic! I GM'd this one, though, and it wasn't werewolves, so maybe it doesn't quite count? I don't know. Still fun.
It's mine now!: Take something that wasn't intended to be loot from the dungeon.
... yes.
I'd like to errata these two:
"The Best Defense Is A Good Offense" (forge a magical weapon)
"The Best Offense Is A Good Defense" (forge magical armor)
To add some new ones:
"Think of the Happiest Thought...." (cast fly)
"Tempus Fugit" (cast haste and slow in the same combat)
"Making Lovecraft" (cast black tentacles)
I've done all of these. In the same combat. (Yes, that includes the weapons and armor. :D)
((Admission: I might be cheating a bit: limited wish to fabricate stuff into masterwork stuff, then magic weapon and magic armor on them miiiiiiiiiiiiight not count. But I've still done all of those within the same game, and the last three within the same battle, even if you don't count the above.))
"I'm Batman.": Become Batman. (Not sure how, but I am fairly sure someone's done it at some point.)
Only seen as a GM, not done as a PC.
There are a lot of ways to accomplish this, though, depending on what you mean.
Interestingly, many have been done by my wife...
Are you KIDDING me?:Roll nothing above a 10 for one session.
... I wish I was kidding you.
Unconventional...- create an unconventional character
... most of mine?
Slartibartfast. I told you it wasnt important - Create an unconventional name for a character.
Also could be used as a gm achievement for when you failed to name an npc, but the players insist on getting a name anyway, so you had to come up with something ridiculous.
Done on both ends.
A good sign: As a team, confirm 5 or more critical hits at level 1.
Doing it wrong, the right way: Kill an enemy by throwing a weapon you're not proficient with. Bonus points if you lack throw anything.
Yes!
Campaigns:"Ursa Minor" (successfully complete a "personal quest" campaign)"Lyra" (successfully complete an "artifact" campaign)
"Draco" (successfully complete an "epic" campaign)
<snip>
"Aries" (successfully complete a "war" campaign)

"Ophiuchus" (successfully complete a "conspiracy" campaign)

"Capricorn" (successfully complete a "bizarre" campaign)
Yes to all those I've left listed here, depending on the meaning. Some have been as GM, some as a player.
"Bite My Shiny Metal Ass!" (have what would otherwise have been a critical hit against you nixed by fortification armor, an appropriate spell, etc.)
Yes.
I'm an Engineer, Not a Magician! Fumble a Knowledge: Engineering roll

I've done the first two, my players the last (on more than one occasion).
Let's You and Him Fight
Convince two enemies/enemy factions opposed to each other as well as you to fight it out between themselves, leaving you and yours out of it.
Hah! My favorite one was where they weren't opposed to each other before I got there. Instill a little religious confusion amidst some evil cult leaders, some subtle-but-convincing (and not so subtle) room to doubt the "faith" of the other major "group" (when before it had been harmonious), then convince one to march a group down to face off against the other one for their "crimes"...
(And, in the middle of combat, shout, "Hey, everybody, I'm on you're side!" while they're in the midst of trying to kill themselves, and you're doing your best to hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.)
Referential:<snip>I am your father

Bluff, bluff, bluff the stupid ogre
Eliminate a succesful bluff check of an ally
Hah! ... yes. >.>
Please allow me to introduce myself...- make a deal with an outsider
YES!
VM mercenario wrote:Question, does it count if you seduce them before you discover their species? Because in one campaign there was a Kitsune Sorcerer with 20 charisma and let's just say she gets around. The Kirk
Seduce a member of a different species in the same day you discover the existence of that species.

Continue playing a character after completing the campaign
Yes! Lots of fun, actually.
I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate: Fail an improbable persuade task with a roll of 1.
Go back to juggling apples: Have a casted spell misfire or fail miserably.
Both. Sigh.
Kenny: Have a PC die and get revived 10 times in a single campaign.
Doing one better: as a GM, having a character die and get reincarnated so often, that you just give it to him as a constant effect whenever he dies, as you know the PCs will do exactly that thing. Also, it's funny. Also, have him reincarnate into the same six races over and over again in the same order, so that you eventually rule that he only reincarnates into those races.
A Popular Tax Dodge: resurrect a character who's been dead for more than 1 year
And Then John Was a Zombie: get TPK'd in a fight against Undead
It Gazes Back: have a gate spell backfire when summoning a Demon
<snip>
Fly, you Fool: use a fly spell to escape a potential TPK

To be clear - this wasn't for bragging. I honestly expected maybe a few dozen... but I found a lot more the more I actually thought about it.

Nice work. (Both playing and editing/formatting that list)
Thank you! (It wasn't easy...)
The three I listed were all things the party did in a single game. I have one player who just loves the Apocalypse Now?! one though, he does it nearly every chance he gets.
It's always amazing when players engage in unexpected creativity, and it can result in strange things!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm Hiding In Your Closet wrote:"Am I A Pedophile?" (seduce a Human when playing an Elf or other very long-lived race)... why do you come up with terrible names for your things. :I
Because you Favorite it anyway! >:D
Anyways....
Wow dude. Just wow. Slow Clap.
What he said.
My tabletop RPG experience has actually been comparatively limited - bad luck and lack of friends/opportunities due largely to living in the wrong place. Pathfinder Society's been the most of what I've managed to do, aside from a few short/aborted/otherwise unsatisfactory attempts at people's home games. All told, let's see what I've managed (this including games other than D&D/Pathfinder):
1. "He's dead, Jim" (Be the first to die during a game)...
3. "It belongs in a museum" (Take an Artifact from a dungeon)
4. "A wizard is never late" (Be the last person to arrive at the game)
5. "Today is not that day" (Get Healed from 0 HP during an encounter)
1 was achieved in a Cyberpunk one-shot.
4 and 5 are easy.
I have achieved 3 in a TORG game at the very least - and it might be *just about* to happen in a game I'm in on here right now.
6. "Did I do that?" (Injure another party member through incompetence, or intent)
My Bloodrager had a non-lethal duel with a combat-oriented Oracle not very long ago. No hard feelings.
Longer ago, my Monk was on a mission to Nidal, where the temples of Zon-Kuthon accept pain as an alternative method of payment for their services. Being a Kuthite herself (and having a kind of "Laurel and Hardy" relationship with the Barbarian), my Monk volunteered to administer the pain (which took the form of an untrained Profession [Torturer] check) when the Barbarian chose to pay that way.
Then of course there was a PARANOIA game or two....
...14. "'Igor Allergic to Avocado'" (subsist for a week or longer on rations of a distinctly unappetizing variety)
...
19. "'Why Couldn't She Be The Other Kind of Mermaid?!?'" (back out of a sexual encounter with a monster)
...
23. "'I Think This Is The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship'" (add a new party member after the game has started)
Definitely achieved 14 in a nasty adventure Orthos and I were both in on here for a while.
Achieved 19 in a Call of Cthulhu one-shot (it wasn't very Lovecraftian, though - it was about some kind of werewolf).
Achieved 23 at least a couple of times, both as addition and when someone else was the addition. There were two times that did not work out well at all, but there was a TORG game where that happened a few times and worked out, and I'm also in a game on here where that's happened a few times (others have come and gone, but only a small band of hard-cores manage to keep with it).
26. "Wait, No, they're....never mind!" (Be the one who charged to attack NPCs who may NOT be foes. Until now.)
My Cavalier earned 26 - then again, they were in the process of committing a hate crime against a child.
31. "That's what they all say." (Fail a bluff or diplomacy check to convince the law of your innocence.)
...
33. "Dead men do tell tales." (obtain an important bit of information from a Speak With Corpse spell.)
Sort of achieved 31 in a game that didn't last for me - it was a xenophobic small town, I was a definite "xeno" kind of person, they demanded I register myself, I didn't want to give them my real name, yadda yadda, they let me go because I hadn't done anything wrong, but that didn't mean they liked or trusted me, kind of thing.
Achieved 33 a few times in (what wound up being) a CHAMPIONS one-shot where I played a necromancer who made a living as a detective.
44. "Neo maxi zoom dweebie." (Succeed on 100 knowledge checks)
I'm sure I've earned this by now. I normally play brainiacs.
47. "'Did Somebody Roll A 5 Or An 8?'" (free, deliberately or otherwise, someone or something who has been magically imprisoned or bound)49. "'My Bugs! My Bugs! My Bugs....'" (defeat a swarm)
I'm pretty sure I've done 47 at some point in my Society career - and who hasn't done 49?
55. "Knock Knock Knocking on Heaven's Door" (Fall into the negatives 10 times without dying)
Definitely achieved 55 - I'm kind of the king of close calls, and only suffered my first D&D/Pathfinder character death very recently (and it was only because an enemy had an unnatural hate-hard-on for Elves, of which mine was the only one in the party).
61. "One Small Step For A Man...." (travel to another plane)
62. "There's No Place Like Home" (return to the Prime Material Plane from somewhere else)
67. "'It's Full Of Stars....'" (travel to the Astral Plane)
My Kensei achieved 67, and since it returned, earning 61 and 62 go without saying.
73. "Soul Survivor, so-o-oul sur-vi-vor". Survive an otherwise TPK.
74. "Fire! Dah-nah-nuh!" Survive being set on fire or encounter with significant fire using opponent.
75. "you're as cold as ice!" As above but cold.
76. "Why you're Greased Lightning!" As above but Lightning....
I earned 73 in that "nasty adventure that Orthos was also in" I mentioned earlier. No doubt I've earned 74-76 along the way, depending on the parameters (offhand, I can remember my Summoner surviving a fireball that killed another PC, and my Alchemist surviving a lightning bolt that killed *that same* PC in a later adventure - and that time, it was for good).
82. FATALITY! (defeatoutright kill an enemy with a confirmed critical hit)
My Cavalier did that; that was fun. Others may have accomplished it along the way as well.
85. "Missed it by THAT much!" Fail an important roll by 1.
...
88. "And LOVING it!" Accept a suicide mission.
89. "If only he'd used his powers for niceness." Defeat a main villain.
...
No doubt I got 85 at some point. That adventure with Orthos (which I shall hereafter refer to as "Skiron's Redemption" for convenience) would qualify as 88, and I achieved 89 in it - as well as other times.
104. "Shouldn't we stop now?" (Set a numerical goal for something, reach it, and then just keep going)
Wellll...maybe not in an actual RPG. :)
"Put on the glasses!" - Win a fight that lasts longer than 10 rounds.
...
I've probably earned this at some point.
'ROUS's? I dont think they exist.' Survive an attack by giant vermin
Sure.
"Down here its our time. Its our time down here" - adventure in an underground cave system
Of course!
"Excellent!"- Obtain a magical vehicle"The Joining"- Survive a dangerous rite of passage
"Griff Ball"- Be the butt of 20 jokes
The first? Yes, but it led to the game being aborted due to a miscommunication gone totally haywire.
The second? Oh, yes - especially where my Bloodrager was concerned.
The third? Don't get me started!
..."'I Used The Brainslave Spell On My Dad!'" (be recognized for having the most impressively large gaming library in the group)
...
...
No doubt I've earned this.
"There is do, and do not. There is no try." Succeed with the exact number required on a roll.
Evidently, my Sorcerer earned this once.
Once More Into the Breach: Survive the Blakros Museum. Again.
Sword-Chucks, Yo!: Be proficient in three or more exotic weapons.
Achieved the first, and anyone with a Monk PC has achieved the second.
"Living The Dream I" (slay a dragon)
"Living The Dream II" (rescue a princess/prince)...
"Living The Dream IV" (recover a Good artifact)
...
Achieved I and II in Pathfinder, and IV in TORG (see above).
Now it's an RPG: The first time the campaign has a quest into the sewers.
Certainly got this.
We Interrupt This Program...
Join a game session that you are five minutes late for.
Judging by myself and my parents, I've concluded that punctuality is strongly influenced by genes. Mine aren't very good.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Have a good character, evil character, and a character with a Charisma score lower than 8 in the same party.
We may have had that when I was in The Dragon's Demand.
I will call this PART 1. I'll get back to you on the rest.

So, about the alchemist achievement I called "How Breaking Bad Should Have Ended," that's because Breaking Bad didn't end with Walter White dying in a colossal meth lab explosion like I was expecting. I was a little disappointed.
Also, I named a couple achievements after Phantasy Star Quadrilogy stuff and I'm surprised nobody got the references. ;_;

Alright, time for PART 2...
Win by the skin of your teeth: Win an encounter where everybody on your side is hors de combat--but not dead--at the end of it. (Yes, this is possible--drop the last enemy with ongoing damage or else some AOE attack dropped both sides simultaneously.)
The MMO version of this would be to win a battle despite a TPK. (It's happened to me--we were all dead but I got off a resurrection spell before I died.)
THIS. The "MMO version" of this was my crowning story of glory from World of Warcraft. My Balance-major/Restoration-minor Druid single-handedly (possibly with the help of a Warlock's Soulstone) turned a TPK into a victory in one of those early dungeons with the red orcs in the Outlands. The corpses of my party members were cheering me on as I clung to life with Nature's Grasp, Rejuvenation, Innervate, and most significantly, Force of Nature. As one of the others said, "don't ever respec, Daghda (my Druid's name)!" I wasn't planning on it. :)
An adventurer is you!: Create a Pathfinder character.
Gee, YA THINK?
All in the reflexes: Make a Reflex save at a dramatically appropriate moment.
Possibly; I can't remember anything in particular off-hand.
It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time
Take a level in a prestige class.
Done this a time or two (and more on the way).
A Wizard is Never Late Be the last to arrive for game, bonus if it's more than half an hour later than everyone else.
I've probably done this. Judging by my parents, I think punctuality is influenced by genes. Mine are bad.
"And if you do not listen, then the hell with you"
- Failed a request for divine aid. Bonus experience if said request was done in an Austrian accent.
I sort of got this when I was playing a pre-gen Cleric of Corellon Larethian in a one-shot. I cast augury and got a "weal and woe" result where the "weal" was only "weal" in an iffy technicality sort of way. As the DM said, "your god's Chaotic, what do you want?"
No Austrian accent points.
According to the Onion: Fumble a Knowledge Check
I've made many a Knowledge check in my time; seldom do I fumble them, but probably not never.
"My Hovercraft is Full of Eels" (fumble a Linguistics check)
Same as previous.
Should've Taken a Left Turn at Albuquerque Be the last person to arrive to game.
As previously alluded to, I'm positive I've been this frequently enough.
After 5 agonizing days the cobra died - Make a fortitude save vs. poison with a natural 20
Entirely possible, not like I'd remember in particular.
Tom Marvolo Riddle Award for Scholastic Merit: Take your first level in Wizard with 20 Int.
Of course!
"What do you see?" (cast a detect spell for the first time)
I did this at some point, obviously.
Sic Simper Tyrannosaurus Kill a dinosaur
I think we did this in TORG....
Know-it-all: Have at least 1 skill point in all knowledge skills.
Got this.
This is Sparta: Fight an army from a pass they have to squeeze through slowly.
Pretty sure I've been party to this at some point.
"Think of the Happiest Thought...." (cast fly)
"Tempus Fugit" (cast haste and slow in the same combat)
"Making Lovecraft" (cast black tentacles)
Done all three of these ("Tempus Fugit" and "Making Lovecraft" both by my Summoner).
Unconventional...- create an unconventional character
Oh, YES!
Slartibartfast. I told you it wasnt important - Create an unconventional name for a character.
How does "Winter Qadathra Pyramid" sound (a character I made for a single-player 1e adventure)?
Fun while it lasted. Be the only survivor of a near-TPK.
Yes. I was in a "Way of the Wicked - meets - Tomb of Horrors" game on here that turned out that way.
Rise, Rise from your Graves! Raise/resurrect/reincarnate your entire party after a battle, bonus points if that includes yourself.
I nearly did this (sans the "includes yourself" clause) in that adventure, but everyone else had decided enough was enough.
"Virgo" (successfully complete a "rescue" campaign)
"Scorpio" (successfully complete a "stop Sauron" campaign)
The only campaign I've ever completed to date, sad to say, is The Dragon's Demand - and it's one or the other of these, so I got that one.
What do your Elf Eyes See: Elf fails an easy Perception check.
Given my affinity for Elves and my penchant for using Wisdom as a "dump stat," I'm sure I've done this plenty of times.
Voted off the island- get kicked out of a gaming group
Yes. :(
A Team! - Have every party member contribute something significant in a boss fight.
I'm sure this has happened.
"Not Today" (return from the dead)
My Alchemist has done this - and to date, is the only Pathfinder/D&D character of mine who's died (and it was only because he was the only Elf in a fight against a harpy archer who HATED Elves for some reason)!
Not an Orphan
Created a PC whose parents weren't tragically killed.
I don't tend to think about my how my characters' parents are doing, but I certainly don't assume they're orphans.
The Power of Snuggles Compels You! - Grapple a charmed or dominated party member in order to keep them from going crazy/
Even though it was mainly the Druid's lion Companion who kept the huge Barbarian under wraps when he'd been dominated, I think my Monk helped too.
Go Go Power Wizards
Get a Colossal construct to fight a kaiju.
This happened in a Society adventure I was in (unless they were Gargantuan and not Colossal).
Well, that covers me up to page 8 - until Part 3!

Here we go again! PART 3...
I SHIP IT!!!: Marry an NPC after completing the adventure
Well, technically yes, having played Poog in We Be Goblins! (although the final line of that game was, "Poog, uh, Poog think that he...maybe he like boys").
Sir Hickenheim Olgenford Winthrop Galadeir McPharny XIV, Last Glorious Heir To The Opalescent Throne Of The Majestic House Spaggendeer Of The Land Of Xorgil, Where The Will Of The Mahogany Xylophone Reigns Supreme: Play a noble character with a ridiculously long name
Does this fellow count?
How about him?
No One Expects The...: Kill an enemy with an improvised weapon
I think I may have done this when I played RAVENLOFT adventure "The Created;" as best I can recall, I killed an animated roller skate with a steak knife - while I was riding inside it!
Can't You Play an Elf Like a Normal Human Being?
Replace one race's entire set of default racial traits with alternate racial traits.
This might count for that - he still has the 1/day spell-like ability, but it's one from a variant Celestial heritage.
...And Desert You...: Spend an every round in a combat adjacent to an ally.
I've been in a lot of combats, so probably at some point - definitely if you include familiars/Eidolons!
Mission Impossible: Get through an entire, multiple hour session without anyone making a Monty Python reference.
Done that many times. SHAME ON US ALL!!!
Well, You Promise You Won't Tell? - sleep with the BBEG
It wasn't exactly a "home run," but I did seduce the BBEG in a SERENITY RPG one-shot where I played the femme fatale character and got at least as far as "First Base" before I started stabbing him with a poison knife, then
I've Got to Keep Control - succeed at a Will save against a mind-affecting effect
Who hasn't done this at least once? Easy-peasy.
That's a Rather Tender Subject - engage in cannibalism
I forget if MMOs count for this - because if so, Lydia the Forsaken Warlock certainly did this often enough.
There's also this character, who gains the wisdom of the dead by eating bits of them.
What Charming Underclothes - be stripped of all your belongings
Happened to this guy when he was sentenced to a prison-hell.
There was also a 3.5 one-shot I did years ago where the party suffered that same fate.
Some Kind of Hunting Lodge for Rich Weirdos - the party gains its own keep
I actually got this, once - sadly, that game could have gone A LOT better, and was finally scuttled when one of the players' cars, in which most the game's materials were kept, was stolen.
I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse:Roll a natural 20 on a Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate check.
It's too generic to remember specifics, but no doubt I've managed this one occasion.
Claude Raines Was the Invisible Man - spend an entire session separated from the party
I was being "groomed" as a latecomer for a 1st Edition game where all the other PCs were ahead of me, and the DM was requiring me to reach their level by playing through, so I did some solo playing - the DM was a cool guy who knew what he was doing and all, but I learned I just didn't care for solo D&D, so I dropped out of that.
Fantasy-Western-Cosmic Horror-Politcal Intrigue-Mass Effect 2: Have fun in a setting that, by rights, should be an insane mish-mash of incoherence with no internal logic, but the DM somehow manages to pull off.
That might describe the RISUS game I was all-too-briefly in.
It might also describe TORG, which I enjoyed.
Is this the real life? - play a game set in a your home town
I briefly played a CHAMPIONS superhero game like this (although in my case, "my home town" is a tricky thing to pin down); the PCs were we the players ourselves, and the premise was that it was THIS REAL WORLD, save that suddenly there was a mysterious phenomenon that turned some of us into supers. Cool idea, but I found the execution a bit boring, sadly.
Is this just fantasy - play a non-human character
GEE, YA THINK!?!?
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see - acquire a new patron deity in game
This happened to my TORG character when an Aysleish priestess rolled super-well on a heal spell for my Orrorshan Byronic lunatic-occultist. Dunad's better than the Sacellum, I'll say that much.
Anyway the wind blows - gain the ability to fly
Absolutely. Numerous characters, numerous places.
Of Doom! Wield any item named _____ of Doom!
Does the "of Doom" item enchantment from Might & Magic VI-VIII count?
They agree with me Attempt to win a rules argument with the GM by showing them a forum thread you started that doesn't have a post by anyone who writes the rules or a proper FAQ entry.
I might have done this, though I don't know if all the criteria was ever met.
Obscure Mnemonic: Remember that obscure item you kept 'just in case' and use it when needed.
I might have done this.
The Gamer: Successfully cast a magic missile spell against a creature shrouded in darkness.
Does attacking an undead shadow - and in a dark room, to boot - count?
A Terminal Case of Newt - the target of your baleful polymorph spell fails both its saving throws, and lives out the rest of its days as a harmless animal
My Witch finally did this in his previous adventure. A milestone if ever there was one. :)
Multi-racial Harmony: Each member of the party is a different race.
Breadth of Specialisms: Each member of the party is a different class AND there are at least one of the Martial, Arcane and Divine classes within.
Multi-faith Counsel: Each member of the party follows a different faith.
I've been in all these.
That's all for now, I'll return for PART 4...sometime!
