I been in a plastic bubble since March please help.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So I use to be able to keep on Paizo and the comings and goings of Pathfinder. My wife and I had a child in March and I have been lost since then. I have continued my subscriptions not really opening any of the books. I have tried to run a Play by Post on here also not very successfully. I have really been out of the loop on the developments and of the game and mechanics can someone please help me. Thanks

lots of errata

Occult Adventures just came out. Before that was Pathfinder Unchained. Oh yeah, Advanced Class Guide and Advanced Race Guide got updated (in the case of Advanced Class, only the errata file was done; actual updated new printing to arrive soon). Congratz on the new addition to your family.

Shadow Lodge

You mean you want the hilights of things that came out since March?

Unchained Adventures features:

  • A more martially effective but somewhat less spiritually complete monk, to much discontent
  • A summoner with a nerfed spell list and less thematically open-ended eidolon, mixed reception.
  • The Unchained Rogue is an improvement.
  • Unchained Barbarian is not a big change but notably gets a per-attack damage bonus instead of a Str bonus, reducing the advantage two-hander barbarians have over TWF, and also gets some rage powers as "stances" which cannot be combined.
  • Variant Multiclassing is a neat mechanic that lets you trade half your feats for some of the class features of another class. The actual worth of the class features you get varies - wizard, magus, and bard are some of the favourites, while gunslinger is at the bottom.
  • Many people enjoy the innate magic item bonuses which replace the usual use of "big 6" items.

Occult Adventures (only skimmed it myself but from the forums):

  • People are really excited about the kineticist in particular because it provides elemental combat characters that were hard to pull off with the current classes.
  • I personally am a fan of the occultist since it introduces a versatile object-focused magic.
  • I've also seen some interest in the Mindblade Magus which provides a psychic blade (and the mechanics are an improvement on the Spellblade)

The Advanced Class Guide has errata (download here). Biggest changes were probably revising Slashing Grace so it works on light weapons but can't be used with TWF or spell combat, and heavily nerfing Divine Protection so it only gives you Cha to one save per day. Also removed Parry and Riposte from a number of swashbuckler-like archetypes such as the Daring Champion and Kata Master.

Advanced Race Guide also got errata including the Scarred Witch Doctor no longer using Con for casting.

Melee Tactics Toolbox features the Elven Branched Spear, a finesse-able reach weapon.

I know Heroes of the Wild, Cohorts and Companions, Monster Summoner's Handbook, and Andoran Birthplace of Freedom are recent, though I'm not familiar with the content.

Dirty Tactics Toolbox is coming out soon, with a feat to let characters bypass Combat Expertise for maneuver feats. There was also a playtest recently for a Vigilante class (defining feature: secret identity) for Ultimate Intrigue, a more skill-focused supplement.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Let me add my congratulations!

Ultimate Combat also got errata'd. They changed Crane Style again, fixed the Myrmidarch's Ranged Spellstrike, changed Monk of Many Styles, and altered a few other things.

So all in all it was a quiet three months.
