Why is there no "Extra Ki Power"?

That's pretty much it. So many other similar class features allow you to invest Feats to get more of them (Rage Power, Rogue Talent, etc.), and this one is very conspicuous in its absence. It made sense before Unchained, since Ki Powers were a function of an archetype, not a class, and as such not necessarily supported with Feats. However, with Unchained making Ki Powers a class feature, it seems like there should be the equivalent Feat added to the game.

If vigilante is any indication, I would not hold your breath...

There's also the added complication that ninjas get the exact same class feature but draw from a completely different list of ki powers. Allowing extra ki powers as a feat would mean that ninjas and monks can dip into each other's ki powers unless the make the wording of the feat very specific.

Not that it's much of a loss for monks anyway. There are so few ki powers worth taking that most monks I've seen end up taking close to identical choices for their ki powers and I haven't seen anything in Unchained that would impact these choices.

Technically those are Ninja Tricks. Which, also technically, you can invest a Feat to get (Buying Extra Rogue Talent, and picking Extra Ninja Trick as that Rogue Talent).

I don't think the Monk class can really afford even a "much of a loss" at this point...

There's a mat that let's you gain some back through meditation.

I think the OP means feats to pick up more Ki Powers like Diamond Soul.

Ah. Well, then, I don't think it's a stretch to create such a feat given Precedent.

Because Jason Buhlman hates Monks.

At least, if the testimony from the other devs that the Unchained Monk was even WEAKER and they had to coax him to make it better is anything to go by.

Anybody ever think that Monk could use Ki equal to level+WIS instead of 1/2 level, and would benefit from getting the good Will save back? And maybe the good Quivering Palm, too?

All three things my homebrew re-write of the Unchained Monk included, and more.

Just curious- what else did you put on your Unchained Monk?

Improved some existing abilities, moved others up to earlier levels, and generally shuffled things around.

Still a WIP I haven't had a ton of time to work on, but it's still mostly better than the extant Unchained Monk IMO.

It's a pretty easy feat to houserule in. Sucks if you want to play PFS though.
