RAW? No. Alchemist do not have a Caster Level and therefore do not meet the Prereqs for Craft Wondrous Item.
I believe the OP is talking about the new Discovery that allows Alchemists to count as spellcasters for the explicit purpose of crafting magic items.
I believe you are correct. Disregard my above reply, if you take the Spell Knowledge Discovery you will qualify for anything that requires a Caster Level equal to or lower then your Alchemist Level.
so with the alchemist's spell knowledge would it allow me to use craft wondrous items? just wanting to cover that base.

Also, I haven't heard anyone mention the Promethean Disciple alchemist discovery yet. (Or if they did, I missed it!) That was a genius stroke by the design team to break out a chunk of the Promethean Alchemist archetype to allow all alchemists to create constructs. I know there's a lot of people who have been looking forward to that! :)
Yeah, I've been looking for a way to get Craft Construct to alchemists for a while. Pulling out that ability as an early-access discovery seemed like a no-brainer when I went in for the development pass.
