To rule Nex: a guide to the Arclord of Nex / Mage of the third eye

Advice

So, after obsessing over the possibility of a new game where I might play an Arclord of nex, I decided to experiment & write a little guide on the prestige class. Arclord Guide

I am awaiting comments & ideas that might complement the guide.

I'll admit it's not very constructive, but... the trait Mutant Eye would give you yet another eye. Four-eyes, anyone?

I mention it in the guide. It's thematic, but not useful for the build.

There is a construct guide already (did you do it?) - worth referencing.

Dwarf wizards also have a good favoured class bonus: Select one item creation feat known by the wizard. Whenever he crafts an item using that feat, the amount of progress he makes in an 8-hour period increases by 200 gp (50 gp if crafting while adventuring). This does not reduce the cost of the item; it just increases the rate at which the item is crafted.

Dotting.

I did make the construct guide, AND I referenced it. Hadnt noticed the dwarf FCB before. I better start working on construct guide V2 soon.

Apologies but good guide. Cheers will read further.

Haha. That mutant eye makes me wanna make Tien!

Also, Can't Arcanist qualify for this as well? It would just take school understanding right? That nets you arcane school and one ability.

Skills:

Humans can get Focussed Study which is up to 3 Skill Focus Feats for the price of one. If a character is going to craft several types of item this MAY be useful to have.

Dwarves gain a bonus on crafting metal/stone with the crafter trait. .

Half-elves get a skill focus feat for free.

Gnomes get the 'obsessive' trait +2 on a crafting skill.

While I acknoledge these, the usefullness of crafting (as in the regular skill craft) is limited for constructs, and the use of spellcraft is more generally applicable.

While focused study is GREAT, and I use it for a number of other prestige classes (such as the Noble scion or Loremaster), it is of limited use here. However, it doesnt slow progression to the desired PrC, so I will give it an honorable mention.

I dont think this would work, since school understanding only gives you a single power of a school, and not the school itself. The PrC also requires a 3+int (and not 3+cha) ability. I know this is nitpicky, but I'm trying to avoid going too far from RAW.

Just a thought but since you already are looking at a familiar (I love the valet archetype too), you might want to consider some teamwork feats -- escape route and shake it off are both nice and with your familiar right beside you... well that's an always on +1 bonus to all saves and never provoking while you move again.

If your party happens to have some other people with teamwork feats all the better. The only other one I might really consider is lookout if you went with the divination school (or any of its offshoots).

Good notes, though that is good general advice and does not necessarily specifically apply to the Arclord of Nex. However, it might be worth making a familiar guide eventually, as well as a teamwork feat one.

The Int vs Cha bit is a good point. That would break it.

I think you do gain the arcane school as if first level school, but you lose the benefits (outside the ability) in exchange for not having opposite school.

That's too bad it would be pretty neat

Well... it's started...

I was wondering if anybody hadany comments about the scholiast power & related School power that could be chosen. For the moment, the best I can find are metal school, void school & admixture school, though I would love to hear from others.

Sovereign Court

Interesting.

What about wayangs as a race? Just like elves and tieflings, good ability modifiers, but also the advantages of being Small.

I think you're selling Fabricate short. Before you start enchanting items, you first need to build them. Fabricate can shortcut the normally obscenely long crafting times of mundane crafting.

The arcanist does have an archetype that gives it the arcane school class feature.
