Evangelist's "Aligned Class" Interpretation ... or, OMGWT*?

Rules Questions

At first glance, this ability seems unbelievably broken. For reference, Evangelist, and for specific reference, the 2nd level "Aligned Class" ability reads:

Quote:
... At 2nd level, the evangelist must choose a class she belonged to before adding the prestige class to be her aligned class. She gains all the class features for this class, essentially adding every evangelist level beyond 1st to her aligned class to determine what class features she gains. She still retains the Hit Dice, base attack bonus, saving throw bonuses, and skill ranks of the prestige class, but gains all other class features of her aligned class as well as those of the evangelist prestige class.

So... whathuh? First of all, I assume that this ability is not actually increasing the effective level of the base class? So, for example, it won't give you more bardic music uses per day, or more rage? Or more uses of domain/wizard school abilities? Otherwise, this ability is unbelievably broken.

Second, how does one interpret this for abilities like Sneak Attack? Is each die increase for Sneak attack its own class feature? Or is "Sneak Attack" the class feature, with total damage dice dependent on class level? If it's the first, then this ability still seems ridiculously overpowered, if not quite "unbelievably broken".

Grand Lodge

No, it definitely increases the effective level of the base class.

And Sneak Attack is the class feature, not each individual dice.

Silver Crusade

It means what it says. Yes, your bardic music or rage or spells increase.

It looks powerful on first sight but it really isn't overpowered. There are several threads discussing this and as far as I know no actually overpowered builds were identified.

The abilities one gains from an Evangelist just aren't game breaking, especially since you DO essentially lose a level in your base class.

Its good, mind. Just not OMG broken

If you are a Rogue 5/Evamgelist 3, and you have your aligned class feature set to rogue, then your rogue level functions as if you were a Rogue 7 (4d6 Sneak for the 7th level, and Trap sense +2 and a rogue talent for the 6th level).

You keep the BAB, Hit dice and Saves from your 5 levels of Rogue, and add the BAB, hit dice and saves from your 3 levels of Evangelist.

Don't forget that an evangelist must perform their deific obedience every day, or they lose all the class features of their evangelist class, including all abilities gained through aligned class.
