Interest Check : Legend of the Elder Souls

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 99 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

This is an interest check in an usual game set up. I'll give the creation rules first, and a very high level over view of the game.

Character Creation:

This will be a modified Gestalt game. By that I mean, the characters will eventually be gestalt, but will start out non-gestalt.

Races : Human only.
Stats : Pick one of the array's below. Everyone picks from the same 3.
Stat Array 1 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18 ⇒ 14
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6) = 15 ⇒ 8
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 5) = 18 ⇒ 13
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 2) = 16 ⇒ 14
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 2) = 9 ⇒ 9
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 1) = 12 ⇒ 11

Stat Array 2 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) = 9 ⇒ 18
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) = 15 ⇒ 17
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 5) = 17 ⇒ 10
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 5) = 19 ⇒ 14
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14 ⇒ 9
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) = 18 ⇒ 18

Stat Array 3 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4) = 11 ⇒ 6
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 2) = 12 ⇒ 17
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) = 12 ⇒ 17
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 6) = 18 ⇒ 16
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 4) = 17 ⇒ 13
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3) = 19 ⇒ 13

Note : Low stats will have non-mechanical effects in game. If you have a 6 str, people will treat you like you are a weakling on sight. A 6 con will have you being sickly, usually sniffling and often catching colds. A 6 Int means your character will be perceived as borderline at best, and the village idiot at worst. I don't need to go into details, just be aware.

Classes : Aristocrat, Commoner, Expert, Warrior

Starting Level : 2nd Level

Starting Wealth : None, you'll all be getting equipment in game.

Background : Your background is up to you, and it's the background that will get you in the game, if I run it. You can make any person that would reasonably exist in the real world right now. You will get a one time bonus to Skill Points based on your stat bonuses at character cration. For every positive point of each stat you have, you gain one skill point that must be spent on a skill associated with that stat. For example, if you have an 18 str, you can spend 4 skill points on Str based skills (for example, 2 climb and 2 swim). If you have more points for a stat than you can spend at 2nd level, you may 'bank' those points to spend them when you level up.

Gestalt : You will gain a PC class to gestalt with in game. Which class you get is somewhat open to chance, and even if you tailor make your character for a specific class, you may not get it, you are warned ahead of time.. There will be no gunslingers, Samurai, or Ninja. All other classes are possible.

Alignment : You can be any alignment (there will be an in game reason for evil and good to work together). However, if one alignment (good, law, evil, chaos) decides to shut out the other alignment, that may cause you problems in game (and them, honestly). Remember, you are creating people who exist in the modern world, so extreme alignments need to be backed up by your background. A farmer from the midwest is not going to be CE or LG. He might be NG with Lawful tendencies, or he might be LN with good tendencies. Or even CN with evil tendencies if he's a jerk. A serial killer might certainly be CE, or LE if he's got a code and system he kills by. A very very idealistic young police recruit might be LG if he's had a relatively sheltered life, and grew up believing Saturday morning cartoons.

Advancement : When you gain a level, you will continue to gestalt in that one PC class (no prestige classes) and NPC classes. You may switch out NPC classes as you wish, but the PC class remains constant at each level. Advancement will be at the speed of plot, and not all characters will advance at the same rate (there will be quests for each character, and completing certain quests will bump your level up, as well as unlocking non-standard abilities and resources). Again, you've been warned that not everyone will be equal at all times.

Mythic : Mythic rules will be in effect, and just like your advancement in your character classes, will depend on how well you do in your individual quests.

Traits : You may take up to 2 traits, and may take a drawback for a third. Traits should be refluffed to make sense for the modern world (+1 Kn(Engineering) and CS could be refluffed as College Educated for example).

Feats : Feats must make sense for a modern world. So weapon focus (great sword) doesn't make sense (without a good background reason). Weapon Focus (Pistols) might.

Guns : There are no guns in the world. This doesn't mean guns can't exist, it means there are none currently. If people bring knowledge of firearms with them (requiring knowledge and craft and feats), then you can build them in world, when you have resources and you've built the tools to build the tools to build the weapons. Just know it's not going to be anytime soon.

Posting:

I expect at least a posting every other day. If two weeks go by and you don't post, without warning someone ahead of time, you'll be placed on inactive list. Someone else will then be recruited to take your place, and the game world will experience severe repercussions from your loss. Give warning you can't post for a while, and that's fine.

Overview:

The characters, without giving away too much, will find themselves in a world they have never heard of, and will be the only ones that have Elder Souls. Those souls allow them to do things no regular mortal of that world can do. The world is in danger, though it doesn't know it. The characters will find this out in game, so please play them at the start as having no idea where they are or why they are there.

At this time, if you are interested, specify so, and then type up a background. If there's enough interest, I'll winnow out based on background. I'll take 4 to 6 players. Note that this may be a fairly lethal game. So please know that going in. If you die, you can make another character, however, once a class is killed off, that class is no longer available for play, which means there's an upper limit to how many times character death can occur before the world is trashed beyond repair.

Dark Archive

Okay, I'm interested. I'm at work now, but I'll be able to post more in the evening.

Can you post more about your world? If I am expected to create a background, I do need some reference points.

I gather that we use the real world as the setting for creating our characters, perhaps with a smidge of magic thrown int there as well. Otherwise it wouldn't make much sense to start off as adepts.

Row number two or three, it's kind of a toss-up at the moment.

Here's something to help me work stuff out:

Spoiler:
6d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 2) = 11

Yes, background is real world, so the world you're going to shouldn't factor into your background at all.

Note, Adept is not on the list of NPC classes to start off with. Adept will be allowed for future gestalting, but not for beginning characters.

I'm intrigued by the concept, but I am not certain if I'll have be able to actually throw a character in the ring, let alone play it afterwards.

I have 2 questions though that might also be helpful for other people that might be interested :
- Do we use the stats your rolled or what you have written down behind the stat arrays. I ask because I think something went wrong between rolling and posting. I assume you are were rolling 4 and discarding the lowest to come to your result? If so then the arrays should be this :
Stat Array 1 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18 ⇒ 16
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 6) = 15 ⇒ 14
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 5) = 18 ⇒ 16
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 2) = 16 ⇒ 14
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 2) = 9 ⇒ 8
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 1) = 12 ⇒ 11

Stat Array 2 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) = 9 ⇒ 8
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 5) = 15 ⇒ 12
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 5) = 17 ⇒ 14
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 5) = 19 ⇒ 15
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14 ⇒ 13
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) = 18 ⇒ 16

Stat Array 3 :
Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4) = 11 ⇒ 10
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 2) = 12 ⇒ 10
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 2) = 12 ⇒ 11
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 6) = 18 ⇒ 15
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 4) = 17 ⇒ 14
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3) = 19 ⇒ 16

- You said "You can make any person that would reasonably exist in the real world right now". So I assume we can not have feats, traits and other things that have anything to do with anything magical, divine or unrelated to humans? For example, a human taking the racial heritage (allowing you to count as another type of humanoid for feats and other such things) feat would not be allowed?

Right, I misread "aristocrat", sorry :). I have a couple of questions.

-Will we be proficient with firearms as martial weapons per the "commonplace guns" variant, or will it require a feat?

-Can we bring stuff we carry on our person with us across the veil, so to speak? (one of my character ideas carry a gun at all times, so this ties in with the first question.)

-Should characters originate in America, from a particular city, or even travel to a speccific place at the end of their backstory? I'm looking at my character being either Swedish, Welsh or South-African at the moment.

-Could my character be from the real world in a different (earlier) time period? (I'm just throwing that one out there.)

To All,
Sorry about the confusion with the stat arrays. Don't ask me how, I did a preview so I could do the 4d6 drop lowest to help everyone. I then later edited the post to add some more information, and somehow editing the post seems to have redone the die rolls. I've never seen that happen before.

Anyway, Theorythmus is correct, and has the correct stat arrays. It's basically 4d6 drop lowest. Please go with the ones Theorythmus has posted as correct. Unfortunately the really nice ones got eaten.

@The Dragon

1) If you have an NPC class that has all martial, then yes, you are proficient with modern firearms (but not black powder style). Being proficient with black powder would require an exotic weapon proficiency.

2) Yes, but remember, just having a gun is rather useless without ammo. :)

3) Characters can be from any part of the world, so long as they are not completely isolated from the modern world. So someone from the heart of the amazon who never heard of an automobile or movie is out, but someone who had heard of them, and might have some reason to travel outside their own village, is fine.

4) There's some leeway on the time, anything from WWII would be fine. Anything before WWI is too early.

Well, drat. I actually had a good bit of my backstory hinging on those stats. Guess it works out though.

Sovereign Court

GM: I am interested in the concept as I've played a game with a similar premise in the past - which worked well. However, I do have one concern and one question.

Concern: While classes are somewhat to-be-determined, is it possible to at least know if you have, say, a 10 in intelligence you would not be forced to pick between wizard, witch, magus, and alchemist? Certain classes can circumvent attributes, but if you're talking about a level 1-20 caster, that's not really the case.

Question: Is is possible to select an actual person from the world instead of simply creating someone living in it? Betty White, for example. Not that I'm planning on making this the Golden Girls or anything.

Though that could be an interesting campaign...

Silver Crusade

Hrrrmmm color me interested...

I'd prefer if you shied away from anyone who was alive currently. Anyone dead for, oh say, at least 10 years is ok (just to avoid the ghoulish feeling of someone wanting to play, say , Casey Kasem. A bit too soon for that).

This is mainly due to a bad experience with someone running this scenario playing Hulk Hogan. *shudder*

You won't be forced into a class you can't use. However, that doesn't mean you won't be sub-optimal based on your background and how the game unfolds. For example, if you have a 14 Int, you are a perfectly viable wizard at lower levels, and you have 5 stat bumps to put in to Int over 20 levels to reach 19 (not to mention stat items, tomes, etc). But no, if your casting stat is 10, you won't be forced into a class you can't cast in.

If for some odd reason, you absolutely had no choice but a casting class (more likely to happen if someone dies and makes a new character), then you'd be told ahead of time to 'tweak' your stats.

Also note that archetypes may be used to 'tweak' classes to fit stats. For example, if you happen to have a highly intelligent character who ends up with Sorcerer, for example, there's an archetype for that. :) Same with a wise character.

Also, there's some leeway on witch in my games (I tend to let them pick one mental stat as a casting stat, rather than forcing int. The Crone (Int), The Matron (Wis) and the Maiden (Cha) are all classic archetypes of the witch. Good example would be the Discworld's Witches Three).

Ok, have an idea for a professional hunting guide who lives in Alaska. Came from WVa, where he grew up in a less than urban kind of area (yes, that is Dueling Banjos you hear in the background).

I suppose Warrior 2. Stat array 1 looks pretty good. He would be proficient in black powder weapons as well as normal ones since he's been an enthusiast for all the game seasons (archery as well). Not a lot of book learning in his background, but really knows the woods.

Alignment most likely CN. There's a reason he's in Alaska.

This seems very interesting. I'm thinking Expert, stat array 1. A professional bank robber LN with evil tendencies.

So, ehh, I wrote up some stuff. It's kinda long-winded.
TL;DR, she's a sweedish body-builder cop with daddy-issues on the verge of a PTS-induced breakdown, who always carries a loaded gun.

Edit: Current incarnation is expert1/warrior1, but that's heavily subject to change depending on her other class. Or maybe not, depending on whether I get to know my other class beforehand.

a) What would you say was the pathfinder stats for a SIG Sauer? D20 modern puts a similar gun at 2d6 dmg. with 30ft range, but their gun-rules are different, no touch ac rules. (although it assumes bulletproof vests are the armor of choice, so it makes sense like that)

Edit2:
b) What classes will be included in your random draw? Psionics from Dreamscarred Press(they're on the PFSRD, if unfamiliar), The playtest classes from the ACG, and maybe even the martial warriors from Dreamscarred Press' Path of War(Stalker, Warder, Warlord) are things that I'd like to have included, even while I can see why you might not want to.

Meet Lina Passgard

Spoiler:
She was born in Sweeden, and spent her early childhood with er parents in a house deep in the forests near the Finnish border. They lived an hours drive from the nearest town, Kiruna, where her parents worked in the town clinic. When Lina was seven, they moved to Malmö. The experience had her shell-shocked, used as she was to playing by the lake, alone with the trees and their house. While not an enourmous city, it certainly seemed humongous at the time. It was right about that time that her younger sister, Karina, was born.

In her early teens, Lina developed a passion for horseback riding and athlethics. In her late teens, she turned to heavy lifting, something she's been keeping up, developing a rather impressive physique. At this point, you name a sport or a strain of athletics, Lina's probably practised it for at least a month.

A series of unfortunate events.

Spoiler:
Qualifying with flying colours, Lina entered medical school. She kept up her studies there for a little more than two years. At that point, her mother died of cancer, and Lina realised that med-school wasn't her project, buther parents'. The ensuing argument with her farther has left them estranged.
She dropped out, and started at police school in Stockholm, much to the surprise of her friends. After a few years of education se got a job as an officer, working mostly patrols in Stockholm city.
She tried dating a few times, but her relationships invariably turned into arm-wrestling matches, after which they broke apart. By now, she's sworn off serious relationships.

The beginning of the end.

Spoiler:
Half a year ago, Lina went on a weekend trip to Berlin with Karina. They hadn't seen much of each other seens their mother died, but they turned out to have a great time together.
Sunday afternoon, however, the bus they were taking was captured by right-wing extremists who, in order to demonstrate their opinion about the European situation held hostage the bus full of tourists for 29 excruciating hours.
Lina spent these in 'cop mode' remaining calm and collected throughout the ordeal, and seemed perfectly fine immediately afterwards, unlike Karina, who went into hysterics.
Coming home, however, Lina didn't feel so fine. She could deal while she was on duty, but in her off hours, Stockholm seemed a new and threathening city. She felt that she was waiting for the other shoe would come crashing down, seeing a potential terrorist in every stranger she passed.
She quickly started bringing her service sidearm home, and while she's aware that it is strictly forbidden, and that she could lose her job over it, the weight of the SIG Sauer in her handbag helps her deal.

It's not all bad though.

Spoiler:
Her life seems all grim and bleak, huh? She feels that way too, at times. There are high points too, though. Training, for one. There are few things as rewarding as a good work-out. Then there's her friends from med school, who're all starting out as doctors by now, Anna, Alexandra and Lotta, whom she sees almost every friday night.
The there's Karl, her standing booty-call. They tried dating once, but it quickly fell apart. They settled for being friends with benefits instead.

@DrBuzzard - Sounds good so far, do up a background.

@Bane88 - I assume the L part is personal code, given the bank robber part. Sort of like Niel Caffrey from White Collar TV show, or Nathan Ford from Leverage?

@The Dragon - Looks very good, and lots of detail. I like. Build looks fine. Don't forget traits.

@all - For black powder, if your character has martial weapons familiarity, they may take black powder proficiency as a trait. If not, it requires a feat. Again just to note, guns are allowable, but don't expect to have a lot of use of them until you can build up enough tech in game to build replacement rounds, replacement pins, springs, etc. There's a *lot* of tech in a modern firearm.

I wasn't really expecting to get a lot of mileage out of it. I was thinking I fire the first eleven of the twelve rounds, and then see if I can't get some wizard to reverse-engineer the proccess of making bullets.

Reiterating the questions I ninja-edited in:

a) What would you say was the pathfinder stats for a SIG Sauer? D20 modern puts a similar gun at 2d6 dmg. with 30ft range, but their gun-rules are different, no touch ac rules. (it assumes bulletproof vests are the armor of choice, so it makes sense like that)

Harry Hudson:

Harry grew up in the town of Mount Storm Lake. If you've never heard of it, don't worry. That's normal. While there are such places as pass for cities in West Virginia, Mount Storm Lake is near none of them. To call the area rural is simply stating the obvious. You might find a supermarket if you drove 40 miles or so.

The Hudsons had a farm in the area where they grew corn and some vegetables for their own use and trade. It wasn't a real big farm like you might find in Iowa or Kansas, but it was enough for them to get by. Meat was mostly venison, because the area had no shortage of whitetail. His family followed the pro-forma process of getting a tag for all the seasons (buck, doe, black powder, archery) and then supplemented the meat out of season when the freezer got a bit low.

Of course Harry hunted from when we was old enough to hold a rifle, or at least lean it on a tree branch. In his family you all had to do your part. He really had a knack for it though, being able to hit a running buck moving through some serious brush.

Sure, we went to school (that sure wasn't a short bus ride), but he didn't much care for it. He learned what he needed to learn on the farm and in the woods. Over time he got a reputation for being the best hunter in the area, bagging the record black bear for W Va one season (with a muzzle loader at that), and consistently putting up competitive racks every season.

His brother inherited the family farm, and heck, he wanted to hunt, not to drive a tractor (not that he didn't know how of course). Anyway, he wanted to go after the biggest and best hunting in the US of A. That meant Alaska, so he packed up his copious supply of firearms into his truck, bade his family farewell and headed for the last frontier.

His nature savvy, and talent with a rifle got him hired on with a major outfitters outside of Anchorage. Over time he built up his reputation and took on repeat clients. He also amassed a hell of a trophy collection (even bagged a Kodiak with a bow once, and that was a bit hairy).

When he's not working running professional hunts, he lives in his cabin which really is close to the middle of nowhere and enjoys the company of nature and nobody else.

Just posting my alias.

You'd think that pathfinder being a game with female warriors, there'd be more portraits of buff women that weren't dark-skinned or tattoed all over the place.

Anyway.

@The Dragon

Sorry, didn't see your edits. :)

Gun Power - Generally, I'd say take the existing gun stats from Ultimate Equipment, reduce Crit by 1, Reduce Misfire by 1 (Minimum 0), double range. Increase capacity to either 6 (Revolver) or 12 (Semi-Automatic). Note that revolvers are significantly easier to keep functional with little/no tools. Semi-Automatics require a lot more upkeep.

Classes - All base classes. All APG classes. Magus. None of the new classes (not official yet, and there's a ton of work I have to do for every class I allow). No psionics (not that I have anything against them, but again, ton of work).

@Buzzard - Looks good on the background. Go ahead and stat him up.

I situationaly read L as discipline. My character will be a professional bank robber, as in he's got away with it multiple times. No civilian killing, gun shooting, joyriding craziness for him. Same reason that assassins are usually LE, Chaotic doesn't lend itself towards the type of discipline required of that type of lifestyle.

Liberty's Edge

Interesting!

I'm thinking about a rock and roll madman...possibly into industrial metal...make that definitely...

'Kong' Groder:
As a child, Kory excelled in math, science, and music...though his parents tried steering him into more traditional directions, Kory was unsettled, and suffered from manic-depression...and so rather than doing what was expected of him, he started hanging out in the bad neighborhoods...of Berlin.

There, he experienced the angst and urgency of punk, and he played with a punk band for a while, on drums, and lending backup vocals...the band's name changed regularly, as did the members. Kory never quite found what he was looking for, with them, but he did stumble into industrial noise.

Punk had introduced him to violence, and he had become a bit of a street fighter. Industrial let him explore the darkness inside, in a more intellectual way. Kory became fascinated with death...with the decay of society...with the occult...

I can give him more background...thinking about more story...I'm thinkinghe's actually killed someone, but was using drugs, and doesn't remember it clearly...

One of those guys that Lina would give a long hard look as she passed him hanging out on Alexanderplatz.

I don't know anything about elder scrolls, So I'm flying blind

Sterling was born lucky. His Father was on the board of Citibank. His mother was an aging ex-beauty queen, who was rarely without a drink. He was raised mostly by tutors and nannies. He had a stunted emotional relationship with his parents. It leaves two choices for a child, either achieve or become a blacksheep.

Sterling was a model student. No one worked harder at school than him. Harvard Business, Harvard Law and valedictorian. Genetics establish his intelligence, but He earned his accomplishments. Yet he was empty. He saw his family on the holidays, except when his father was working.

Sterling had girlfriends periodically. It never lasted. He was funny. He was charming. He was attractive. He was rich. But he didn't know how to connect.

Being an international banking lawyer, Sterling is constantly flying to cities all over the world. He has three homes(Kaui, London, Amsterdam)

is this what you're looking for?

I may have to put something together for this

@Sterling/Litany - LOL, nothing to do with Elder Scrolls. Elder Souls. :) It'll become clear sometime during the game. As to skills, you can switch out two class skills per class you take to match background. So, for example, if your Warrior grew up in the wilderness, he might switch out Kn(Engineering) for Kn(Nature). You can also use traits to add background skills (again, just refluff them for modern world). And the background is a good start, if you can flesh it out.

@Bane88 - Yep, that would be Caffrey and Ford from those two shows. If you haven't watched them, I highly recommend them, excellent shows. Very much the case of disciplined thieves with morals. Crunch looks fine.

@EldonG - Yes, need a more fleshed out background, but it's a good start. And I'm fine with him having killed someone, but you'll have to flesh out the details on that, it'll make a difference (why, how, when, etc, did he get caught).

@All - I'm also looking at character motivations and personality types. Please make sure your background gives me an idea of what type of personality he has (Loner, Rebel, Conformist, Psychopath, Giver, etc).

Sure Ptolmaeus, nice to see you again. :)

So we have full run of Paizo Archetypes. Good, a lot of the Inner Sea Combat archetypes look interesting and I'd like a chance to try them sometime.

What about a Knowledge(Math) Skill. I'm not sure it would be useful for the game. There is just a large amount of Knowledge a banker or lawyer would have, that doesn't translate well to the current skills

Addendum: I'll just use profession.

I'm not sure if Law Enforcer will be useful to any degree, but it seems like something she'd have. I'll take that and reactionary.

Liberty's Edge

That night...:
Kong was stoned. He'd been depressed again, and wallowing in it. He was drinking, pretty early that day...and when Skank came to the basement apartment to drag him to the club, he had drugs. Skank always had...the crazy stuff.

Kong sampled, that day...a cocktail...a little of this, a little of that.

They were playing under the name Saccharine Krush that night...a long set, with only one other band, but they were still the opening act. They went on at eight, and were supposed to play until nine-thirty. They had the material, and nobody cared if half of it sucked, anyhow...it was all angry, loud, and aggressive.

Ok, somebody did, apparently.

In the middle of the pit...some college dork...wearing five-hundred dollars worth of Hot Topic style ripped clothes threw a beer bottle. It cracked Skank in the head...messed him up. Skank collapsed...and Kong went into a black fury...the manic was on him. He grabbed the bottle, and smashed it on the edge of the stage.

Already, it was a melee. Blood was everywhere -most of the punks on their own favorite drugs, they didn't care who they hit, as long as they got swings in. Kong, though, he had a target.

The man left on a stretcher, but was DOA. His face was hamburger. Kong barely remembered it...and nobody pointed fingers. There was so much broken glass on the floor...most...those that said anything...said he fell...and someone fell on him...someone stepped on him...it was all true, after all. There wasn't enough evidence, so it never went anywhere...but the lieutenant had it figured out.

Kong cleaned up...a lot, after that. It wasn't always pretty, but that night haunts him.

Skank, on the other hand...is still Skank.

Everything is looking good so far.

Everyone please also add the following to your character submissions :

Aspiration : This is what your character aspires to do, to accomplish. It could be to gain money and power or to make up for something they did in the past. Maybe they want to be the expert in something, or maybe they just want to be left alone. If the character has one aspiration that they admit to, and a different one that they don't admit to (or one they don't know they even have, in the case of subconscious desires), list both.

Sovereign Court

Please see the idea spoilered below. Feedback is appreciated:

Jake Schoenherr:
A shopowner on Mackinac Island, Jake led a prosperous, enjoyable life. Grandfathered into the tourist island's gentry by his ancestors, he inherited the local fudge shop. Yet he only oversaw the operation - he was no candy-maker. Instead, his passtimes were rather special to his place of residence: bicycle riding and sailing. Motorized vehicles were outlawed, so he was a fan of the alternate methods of transport.

His partner - Drake - was a cop. Occasionally, the two would go horseback riding together on the precinct's steeds. During the ride, they'd usually have a "discussion" of some sort. More like an argument. They were both stubborn, but they had different styles of argument. Drake was more direct and abrasive, while Jake was a better weaver of words.

In fact, it was his skill at wordplay that had landed him some lucrative deals exporting his shop's goods - both to the mainland and across the lake to Canada. His studies in uni had paid-off; the French he'd learned helped give him a leg-up on the competitors on paper, and in practice, it wasn't called the language of romance for nothing.

Basic in their interests, the two lead a relatively peaceful life. That was, until everything changed...

In summary, Jake would be an aristocrat with a disposition to go the skill/spell route later.

Should these be something that they could acomplish in a fantasy world?

Conscious aspiration: Make amends with her farther.

Unconscious aspiration: I'll have to work on that. I don't know her that well yet. Give me some time, it'll pop up. Hopefully it's more useful to the story than the above.

Aspirations:

The banking trade today is global control. Dictators have the state press to control information. We have mega corporations to control our information. Pacs and superpacs means we can buy politician's favor in a perfectly legal way. We created financial instruments which uses math developed by quantium physicist. All to justify lending more money than we have.

Low risk. Nobody goes to jail unless you're stupid. You don't need to break the law. We are the law. We are the masters of the universe. We shape mankind.

subconscious: Sterling looks at the world as if it was an equation to be solved. Unaware that his fathers approval is what drives him.

I suppose his aspiration is to kill the biggest baddest critter he can.

Unconsciously he likely wants the fame for that, but because of his independent streak he doesn't want to admit that to himself.

Suppose I should make a profile for this one. I'll do it once I have the build done.

Can I have bodyguards?
Personal Assistant?

Sovereign Court

Aspiration (overt): Getting married. Difficult for him, so he wants to change that - using his money and influence as necessary.

Aspiration (covert): Acquiring the rest of the island. Jake wants to have his own territory - without the obnoxious tourists.

Okay, I think I've got it. Lina wants revenge. She hates extremists fundamentals or radicals, whatever you want to call it, be they religious or political, she really, really wants to kill them, has ever since that day in Berlin.

She's not admitting to that. It'd come off as biggoted, discriminatory, and in some cases racist, all things that stand against how she views herself and her ideas of right and wrong. So, she's supressed it along with a lot of other stuff.

Liberty's Edge

Kong is a rebel...I'm leaning toward 'Catch Off Guard' as a feat...his aspirations: conscious - open people's minds...open their eyes...
unconscious - find support...acceptance...even love.

Package deal: Zoey Starr and I are looking to join an RP together. I perfectly understand if this is not to your liking. Thanks in advance for consideration!

The Stats:

Neri is Chaotic Neutral with Good leanings. He's never had anything truly test his mettle, that wasn't a choice related directly to self.

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=929638

The Story:

Neri was born into a broken home, and it took him far longer than was ideal to get out. He suffered several broken bones, a burn, and a severely bruised ego before he made his getaway.

Neri truly did run away to the circus, and at the age of six, with no willingness to tell anyone who his parents were... and worse still, showing obvious signs of neglect and abuse, the circus simply didn't turn him away.

The circus he arrived in traveled the United States, based in Las Vegas. He traveled across the country, learning as many tricks as the circus would teach him. Despite his frailties, he was a prodigy in several of the different acts; trapeze, tightrope, sleight of hand, and the art of the con.

Neri rapidly became a daredevil, blossoming into daring escapes, magic tricks, highwire, feats of acrobatics, and more. He became addicted to the rush, seeking bigger and better thrills, until he found something that was able to quiet his heart. Art calmed his mind in all of the ways that the rest of his life pushed him to the limit, whenever he wasn't actively soaring, he was painting, becoming ever more skilled.

Eventually, however, even this became tainted by his need for the next high. He began reading into security systems, lockpicking having come along with learning how to make a great escape. Neri became an art thief; with the help of a contact, he gained high definition photos of various pieces; nothing you've ever heard of, but thus more easily replicated. He began painting these portraits over... and then moving to the location, making the swap, and collecting the real portraits. His art on show, under another's name, certainly, but his all the same. And he had the 'real' art, all stowed away... at least, when he did not trade it to his contact.

The Aspiration:

Neri, outwardly, seeks the next big trick, he seeks thrill and thrill alone. He seeks challenges that he can rise to... and they may well be the death of him.

Unbeknownst to Neri, what he truly seeks is acknowledgement; he proves himself capable time and time again, and it's the roar of the crowd, for those few moments that rejuvenates him... but it's a more personal acknowledgement that he truly needs; one that was denied him.

Ok, looks like there's sufficient interest.

All those who have posted interest so far, make sure you have your character crunch and background how you like it. Please try to consolidate it all in one place, either in an alias or in a google doc or other cloud dock with a link, so it's all in one spot for me to look over.

I'll leave recruiting open until Wednesday, and then have the decisions made by Thursday night.

@Sterling - He could have had them, but he won't once the game starts (not until 7th level at least).

@Hotarukin - No problem, I understand wanting to be in a game with someone you know. I have no issues with people saying 'both or neither'. I'll keep it in mind when selecting.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, cool. I'll find somewhere to stash it all. Oh...Aspiring Bard and Surprise Weapon.

its paul hopkins (john hopkins is the hospital) And I would say he wants to be rich, but more importantly famous amongst certain circles(or infamous among the general populace.

Liberty's Edge

Couple of quick questions...how are we doing HP...and favored class?

HP : Max at first, average per level thereafter, plus bonuses as appropriate (FC, retraining, etc).

Favored Class : Your favored class is the class you gain in game. You will get retroactive favored class bonus's when you gain your two gestalt levels in that class.

Liberty's Edge

Cool. :)
