Oh, and as for the theme of Issue #2 will be.... Tech. As in Magitech, Steamtech, Geartech, Clock-tech, Vril-tech, Bio-tech, and yes, if you want, as I know I do Psitech. This was always my plan for issue #2 since KQ#24's tech theme never saw the light of day and seeing as it doesn't seem like Wayfinder will go with Numeria for #12 - well, hopefully I can learn a little on this issue and get things together a little better. ;)

Oboyoboyoboy!

Maybe I finish Engineer before... Or should I keep Arcangineer as a name?

Calm down Gyrocaptain. Let's get #1 out of the blocks first. ;)

But I do like Arcangineer.. :)

I've already got ideas going through my head now...hmmm the possibilities.
;)

Can you give some reference books to look at for what you'd like to receive?

First off, glad to hear you're all right OSW. Secondly, I can't wait for the zine to come out. Tech for #2 you say? Well then, I suppose I'd better get brewing...

Y'know what, I just wanted to say again, publicly: THANKS OSW!

Seriously, I was just in another thread gushing over the old Paizo Dungeon mag days and I wanted to say that in that thread I mentioned how honored I am to be part of Yggdrasil.

I can't imagine all the work you're having to do to put this thing out but on top of that you chose my stuff and were extremely understanding, professional and encouraging. I am just so glad and excited and grateful for it.

I'm really looking forward to the finished zine. I can't wait to see all the excellent submissions and talent involved. Thanks to OSW for the work, time and effort in this thing!

Liberty's Edge

Agreed Mark - I'm pretty anxious to see the finished product myself! :)

+1 =)

Thanks for all the kind words! And even more thanks for being patient... ;)

In other news, James Thomas has linked me too a fantastic resource of "art from old books" that has some killer graphics and images. Thanks James!!!

Not sure what you mean Bardess - do you mean RPGs or sci-fi/steampunk etc art/lore generally?

Specific RPG manuals.^^ Tech has many nuances in fantasy, so if you can give some directives on the special kind of flavor you want, that would be good.

Missed the deadline for the Kobold Press fiction contest deadline, so I've got this nearly finished short story set in Zobeck and nothing to do with it...at least until the call for submissions for issue #2 officially goes out.

Liberty's Edge

Heh ... Let's get the first one out before we start talking about issue 2 :)

I might have an idea for an issue #3... :P

Gaaaahhhhhh. Too. Much. Pressure. :)

@Shadowborn, by all means send me an email at

when your story is done….

Hey, Oceanshieldwolf started it...

Since you're here (or were here), I figured I'd ask:

1) Has Kobold Press/Wolfgang/you considered setting up a Midgard wiki, similar to the one for Golarion? I know it'd be a huge undertaking, but it'd definitely help increase interest in the setting and help those who wish to contribute via Yggdrasil and KQ website articles but don't have all the PDFs yet.

2) Does psionics exist in Midgard canon, specifically as psionic classes and/or abilities PCs/NPCs might have? (I searched the campaign setting PDF, but had no hits.)

Yes, I'm entirely in favor of a Wiki. It just needs someone to lead it. I'd be happy to host it at the Kobold Press site (or we could host it elsewhere), I'd be happy to help with graphics and getting the word out.

Psionics does not exist in the Midgard canon to date.

Hey any chance Jeff Grubb is going to do much with you guys? I thought he worked for you, but looking at links off your site it looks like was only helping with your Midgard launch.

He really did a good job with the Forgotten Realms comic in the late 80's/early 90's. The other comics associated with TSR published by DC at that time (Dragonlance, Dungeons and Dragons, Spelljammer) were just horribly written.

I've actually reread his run on that several times. There has been a lot of drek published when it comes to fantasy comics over the years, but his books are as readable as 1970's Conan comics.

That is praise, btw.

Hmmm no idea if he actually enjoyed writing for comics (it is a bit different from books), but have you guys ever thought about sponsoring your own Midgard webcomic?

Obviously you have access to artists. Not sure of the economics of this sort of thing, but if someone had a simple style (not OOTS simple) it shouldn't be too hard to produce pages in a timely fashion.

Obviously webcomics for the most part are a labor of love, but if you split up the art and writing duties, the way most comics are done it should be a fairly easy thing to make.

Hey, thanks! I agree that Jeff's Realms comics were a big highlight for the Realms.

Jeff Grubb continues to work with Kobold Press now and again. He did write some of Midgard, and he's also written for the Kobold Guide to Worldbuilding and the Kobold Guide to Magic (shipping soon). And some adventures. And judging some of the Open Call contests.

For webcomics, nope, we haven't gotten a pitch for one, and it's not really what we do (though I agree it would be cool if someone did one). I don't think Jeff is writing comics these days, though.

The way Paizo does their comics is by licensing it out. I suspect that the Kobold Press approach would be similar: work with someone who is really focussed on making great comics.

To try to get back on topic: Anyone want to write and draw a comic for Yggdrasil? That might be a good starting point...

Just wanting to give a special shout out to Timitius/Tim Nightengale, editor of Wayfinder who has reached out and contacted me in an offer of various levels of support while I wrangle this precious beast-tree into post-submission.

This is the stuff that makes being a member of this community energizing and fulfilling.

Thanks again Tim!!!

Nice work Wolfgang, and yes, a comic would be awesome!!! I see Jacob Blackmon is doing some nice comic-y style stuff at the moment. Might ask if he has any Midgard lore in his background…

I would love to see Wormy updated for the Mharoti...

You might check with STAN! Morgan. He did comics for Kobold Quarterly you know.
If he's not too busy he might be able to help out. :^ )

Wayfinder hordes informed of the need for Midgard art!

I hope that some of the artists do strongly consider getting behind this project...

Thanks Tim, and your followup email was pure gold. Thanks again.

Volunteering if you need any editing work for this; I helped edit Wayfinder #10, and if you need anymore eyes let me know.

Hi Oceanshieldwolf you contacted me a couple months ago about doing a map, but I guess that fell through on your end.

Anyway I just saw Tim's post about you needing art, so I thought I'd let you know that I'm still interested. As long as my work schedule allows me to I'd be willing to contribute an illustration, or map.

I don't really know the setting, but I'm happy to support the community, and it never hurts to get my work seen!

Congrats on the well-deserved forum titles by the way!!

Thanks for the reassurance. I'll send you something to look at... but likely not today!

Already received two emails from two artists with impressive portfolios - including one from Silvia "Crescentmoon" Gonzalez, who, if I'm not mistaken, illustrated the Bonewitch archetype I did as my first foray for Wayfinder!!!

If there's any writing to be done for said comics or future issues of Yggdrasil you know I'm down. I stink at art quite frankly (steal a lot of public images for home games) but OSW said he liked my maps. I'd be more than willing to craft those to scan and send as well. I'm sorry I haven't been more help on the publishing end of this but I've never edited or published anything, so I don't really know how. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to learn...

I wish I could draw. Period.

Would be a lot of fun.

Poke. No reason... really!

Tumbleweed (or whatever Land-Down-Under equivalent of tumbleweed is) rolls here.

I think we have lost contact with OSW, the rescue team and the reascue-rescue team again...

*sigh*

Who's next for search mission?

Liberty's Edge

Hmmm ... I've seen him post in other threads recently, so he's not completely MIA :)

Maybe if we cast a heightened summon OSW spell, he might pop in and let everyone know how close Yggdrasil is to being released ...

Fruit salad, yummy yummy!

How about I try

"The Wallabies beat the All Blacks three times straight and take the Bledisloe Cup"

If that doesn't get an Ozzie hurrying he should be ashamed :D

Should we turn on Man-At-Work "Land Down Under"?

That would be Men At Work, sir! :)

Actually, I'm just bumping the thread in hopes that OSW pops in with an ETA :)

Sorry I couldn't get something together for issue 1. I'd have liked to have been in on the ground floor.

Sadly, some opportunistic debt-dodger decided to make a spurious complaint against my conduct in dealing with them, and I spent all of Dec, Jan and Feb, plus a bit of March, having to deal with what should have been a five minute open and shut complaint.
Three months+, to bin a malicious, timewasting complaint that wasn't worth the paper it was scrawled on.

So, while I had what I thought was an evocative idea (a ratfolk fleshwarped siege tunnelling creature), I didn't get past the research stage, to see if it meshed or clashed with material already printed in Zobeck or KQ.

So, roll on issue 2!

Sorry for the extra-super-annoyingly-extended-sounds-like-another-brush-off post about the continuing delay folks.

* I'm on my Easter break. So I'm actually looking at the submissions again today/right now/in a minute. ;)

* I have 23 articles in editing. Some articles are fine, one or two are requiring more substantive edits to Midgardify them properly.

* I have made contact with artists, but not as yet sent articles to artists to be illustrated - some will not need illustrators as the art is in hand. I hope to get the art orders out today...

* I have some maps to be created. A large and awesome adventure has six or more maps, and finding a cartographer to take on that has been difficult - I may have to draw them in Illustrator myself. ;)

* Hugo Solis is still on board for the cover, he is finishing some paid-for work and then he will get back to me.

* Snorter, seeing as you contacted me well before the due date, I will accept any rat folk flesh warped siege tunneling creatures, as long as they mesh with Zobeck or greater Midgard. ;)

Thanks again for your kind regard!

@Mach 1.9pants - be as scurrilous as you like regarding egg based games. I'm a Footballer/Soccer player through and through. AND as an immigrant I rarely support the often boorish "Ozzies". Nationalism and Sports. Nice mix. ;)[/offtopic]

Aaaand art orders sent!!!!

Aaaack…. the maps the maps!!!! [rushes off…]

Haha fair enough, although nationalism and sports beats hooliganism and sports :p Round ball means Pom, I reckon, in Oz! Always hard work that, some of my ex-RAF buddies are over there flying various things, the banter rarely stops.

Anyway, back to topic. Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing it :D

Sovereign Court PaizoCon Founder, Wayfinder Editor-in-Chief

Man, I hope you didn't occupy too many of those artists....I am starting MY art assignments for Wayfinder #11 tomorrow!

I did tell a few of them to let you go first as I am late Tim...

Liberty's Edge

Hey, I'm a soccer fan too! Woo hoo!

OSW, do you have a good handle on a revised release date for Yggdrasil?

Well they don't call it "the beautiful game" OR the "world game" for nothing...

As for a good handle on a release date... Let's see, how about we shoot for the end of May, and if it isn't out by then that's completely all right. ;)

Seriously though, I'm now hesitant to make any promises - mostly I'm waiting on some art, and my own abilities to edit a few pieces and/or delegate such editing effectively. What i can say is that issue #2 will be much more organised. I guess the lesson I have learnt is that I can't pull all-nighters like I used to, and also that EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!

Sorry. But I did really enjoy the LEGO MOVIE...
