Crew of the Wormwood seeks a new GM

Recruitment

Ahoy!

I’m Skaldi the Tallest, conscripted crewman aboard the Wormwood. We seem to have gone a bit adrift and were hoping for some kind soul out there to help us find our course again. The sea’s been quiet for near two weeks and we just received word that, without intervention, it’ll be that way for a good time longer.

Does anyone out there want to intervene on our behalf?

If so, you can find our ship at 25° 21’ 34” N by 71° 45’ 22” W We’ll be seeing you there.

Kindest regards,
Skaldi the Tallest

Greetings and salutations all!

A crew of pirates are seeking a new DM. monjebleu has just stepped forward to announce that he’s no longer able to run the several pbp games that he’d originally signed on to run. If anyone is willing to take on some scurvy sea dogs (and a sea cat) (and a Viking). Please let us know. A link to our discussion thread can be found at the link above. We’re just about to wrap up the first night on the Wormwood.

Many thanks,
twil

Aye!
We have a very nice crew, and are looking forward to continuing our story. Most of us can be found posting in excess of once per day (this being the minimum set by Monjeblue when he recruited us) because we enjoy ourselves so much.

If there is a DM out there who is interested in running a killer campaign for a killer group of..well, killers (aarrrr!) you have found it!

Kind regards, and salty seakisses

Satinder Morne,
Calistrian Virgin

Oh, how I would love to try my hand at this. I've always wanted to try to run a pirate themed game, but, sadly, I'm not keen on doing anything that requires me to purchase an adventure path (I'm tapped out with some new pawns I just bought and a few flip maps) and also I'm not sure I'd be good at another adventure set in the Golarian campaign setting. I'd prefer a "non-descript" setting myself.

But good luck finding a GM. I've read some of the game discussion and game thread and you are all great players.

I'll give it a looksy. I've been DMing the S&S Adventure Path for some friends, but due to them getting jobs (pfft), we haven't been able to meet up for quite some time, and when we do, they've been more interested in Black Crusade.

No guarantees, yet, but I'll give your old campaign a look-over and see if its salvagable, and if I even want to try my hand at DMing a PbP. I do love this AP, though..

Also, how many players are in this? Its hard to tell..

Do you by aany chance have a vacancy for a new cabin boy on the ship?

You know if you guys are okay with a GM who has little experience with Pbp then yeah I can do it. Since I'm gonna be running this for my AFK table too.

@Eldmar: We've already got 6 players, which is a full boat as far as the campaign is concerned. Apologies.

@Rafael & Crustypeanut: Here are the PCs currently in the campaign.
Skaldi the Tallest
Satinder Mourne
Maeleg Valdemar
Gideon Stronghand
Lux
Lt. Ambrose Jeggare

You're both welcome to the helm. If you're both interested in the job, I'd appreciate just a brief description of your GMing style. Terse vs. Verbose. Mapmaker vs. theatre of the mind. etc.

I'm not really sure about the terse or verbose, I think I am somehow between the two(More tending to terse), I have a weakness with characters drscription though, Now generally I go theater of mind, though certain types of battle's and situations work much better with a map. I like the roleplaying of a RPG part more than the game part I think. So I like advancing the story and throwing characters and situations at players and seeing the reactions XD, mostly that. Since I haven't yet run anything Pbp only played them then I not absolutely sure how my style will end up.

I prefer running already made campaigns because making setting for a campaign is quite a lot of hard work. I do end editing them to add or remove things, both for myself and for players. For example if players dislike dungeon crawling and there's a module that is basically a dungeon crawl.

And if I'm not using some tool to make gramatical corrections my english sometimes is written wrong, since it's not my native language.

Cool beans. Feel free to peruse the thread if you get the chance. I think all the characters stand out in their own way at some point or another.

I don't have the AP, so I can't testify to where we are page wise, but we're still in the first night. There's a lot ahead of us.

I'd say you're pretty safe saying Verbose. Nothing wrong with that at all. I really like the whole story aspect of everything. I haven't been itching to play Skaldi because he's broken. Rather, because I really enjoy his story and where it might go.

Already reading I'm in page four and yes you are at the very begining if all players are active then I don't see a reason why this crew could not keep sailing.

I honstly have zero-experience with running a PbP campaign, so that much doesn't give me any advantage over Rafael XD. As for my style, I've only Dm'd for an in-person group. For that group, we're relatively Rp-light, combat-heavy, although since I've been playing in a PbP lately (As a guy from the Shackles, no less), I'm pretty heavy on the roleplaying detail. That being said, I'd probably be a mixture between Map-making and theatre of the mind, depending on the circumstance. For combat, definitely Map-maker without a doubt. I cannot run a combat without a map, plain and simple. As for non-combat situations where there is no chance of combat, I'm far more alright with not having a map, though I'd still give good details on what the room/area looks like.

I'm also quite intimate with this particular AP, as not only is it an awesome setting, but its a fun one so far, too.

However, I'll let Rafael decide if he wants to DM or not first - if he's up for it, I'll stand aside with no issue, as I just got another campaign on my plate I'll be playing in, which makes four.. not to mention the unlikely chance we'll get back to my RL campaign (Damn jobs!). I'll probably be watching, though, if Rafael DMs. Maybe see if I can't get on the back-up list in case you guys lose someone.. I've -really- been wanting to play in this AP as a player. :P

Well I'm okay at going at it but I think it really depends on the players.

Meaning you want to evaluate us or want us to vote on it?

Want you to vote XD.

That's very honest and chivalrous of you, Peanut.

And if such is your decision, than I as a player will respect it. I "vote" for Rafael as our DM, and have high hopes seeing his posts that he will steer our ship in dangerous waters once again.

I even applied for one of his recent recruitments I believe, with a different character.

I mentioned this in the Discussion thread of the game itself, but I'll certainly support you Rafael. You're already doing well in the Legacy of Fire campaign.

I will say that if you're new to PbP, don't overburden yourself with too many games at once. That's what drove the last GM off. He kicked off 3 campaigns all at the same time.

Yeah well If I take this campaign that be my RPG quota XD. (Since I already running the Legacy of Fire one, and playing in another one), but since I'm gonna be running this for my friends alot of the work will serve for both, plus one thing I realized about Pbp is a certain easiness of management when compared with AFK campaigns. Since you have time to after making apost writing in your GM's journal XD

Indeed. You can take your time answering, think things over, look things up, without "slowing down" the game :)

I'm planning on leading one aswell, but it will be PFS.

I would welcome raphael.

I add another vote to support raphael.

Well we only need Jeggare opinion now, that being so I will begin making notes and preparations though. Since seeing as he posted in the discussion boarsd he is in for continuing. By Besmara if the wind is good then this ship moves again yet today.

Huzzah!!

You already have a majority, and pirates were known for democracy. Welcome aboard, Rafael.

Democracy?! Not on the Wormwood! :P Good luck with the campaign guys!
