I'm still getting the "new" notice that won't clear over in the PBP boards (which is the opposite of what was happening before the update -- I wouldn't get "new" updates at all). I tried the Focus trick, but while it clears the "new" message for that moment, the "new" gets stuck again as soon as there are more posts.
I'm using Firefox 16.0.1.

Not sure where things stand on the lists update, but:
I haven't used lists before, and just tried to create one. I was able to add one thread to the list, and now I can't add any more. After adding the thread, I did edit the list - changed its name and settings. So I created a new list, and named it before adding anything to it. Now I can't add anything to either list. The add box pops up, lets me pretend to add the thread, does the little timer circle on the screen - all as if the thread is being added. But nothing shows up on the list.
Are y'all fixing this, or am I doing something wrong?
Edit: using IE 9

We just rolled a bunch of bug fixes. Some are still on the list to be fixed.
Things that should be fixed now that weren't fixed yesterday:
RSS feeds
Campaign tabs
Campaign threads
Dots and x new for campaign threads
Focus always includes active campaigns
Inability for some people to see some threads when signed in
Known bugs yet to be fixed:
Sticky threads are not.
Some formatting weirdness, especially in Internet Explorer.
Intermittent "administrator has been notified" messages that go away on page refresh.
If you still have troubles with "x new" for campaign threads, let us know in this thread. Thanks!

Just posted in this game thread and still getting (1 new) for my own post. Going in and reading my post still doesn't clear the (1 new) when I go back to the messageboards or my Campaigns tab.
EDIT: And the GM just posted in the discussion thread, I went in and read it and came back out, and that (1 new) didn't clear either. So they're still not working for me.
I'm using the latest version of Chrome, if it matters.

I have a few issues to mention that I have been experiencing since the update on Tuesday. I have replicated these issues in Firefox, Chrome, and IE. I have also deleted my cookies, as well as tried accessing the forums on different computers, clicking campaign titles, (X New), and thread titles, etc.
First, I continue to have (X New) problems like others above me. They are inconsistent at present; some threads clear, while others have shown the same thing since Tuesday.
Second, whenever I add a new thread to the PbP forums, I no longer have the option to add it to, or create a new, PbP campaign. I have tried new Recruitment, Gameplay, and Discussion threads to no avail.
Finally, I am currently unable to edit a campaign I created on Monday with a Recruitment thread. When I click the campaign's title, it directs me to a blank page that says "Online Campaigns" in the upper left corner. Link is here. (The campaign I am referencing is the first one listed in my profile)
I hope these details provide some assistance in smashing the bugs. Thanks for all your hard work, any changes aimed at improving the boards are greatly appreciated.

x new is still acting strange. When I make a post, sometimes it shows up in my (x new) as a new thread. Then I have to go back into the thread using the campaign link (Gameplay, Discussion, etc), not the (x new), to clear it.
Also, when I click on the Gameplay tab on some of my campaigns, it takes me to the right thread, but I do not have the normal tabs at the top. Usually you have Campaign, Gameplay, Discussion, Players, Characters, etc.
EDIT - Clicking on the link - Gameplay, Discussion, etc clears the (x new). Clicking directly on the (x new) takes you to the post, but does not clear the flag.

Are |

Likewise. The flag seems to partly clear when I make a post (some times), but it starts a new (x new) for that post, which then continues until the next time it mysteriously clears again.
For instance, yesterday it increased to (13 new) or so by the time I logged off. That flag was still there this morning, but when I made a post those (13 new) were cleared, and a new (1 new) was started with that post. That one hasn't cleared yet.
If this functions the same way for me as it did yesterday, then it will continue increasing over the course of the day.

Monkeygod |

I too am still having the various issues with the X new posts, and all the silliness therein.
I understand there are "fixes" other members have mentioned, but 1) I'd rather it all just be fixed, period.
and 2) that's a bit more complicated via my cell phone, which is how I view a lot of my games during work.

It doesn’t work for me (no news since October 17th). If I use a browser to see “http://paizo.com/paizo/blog&xml=atom” (present on the index/main page and what I was using for quite some time) I get forwarded to “http://paizo.com/nostore”. Without surprise my RSS reader complains from XML errors (probably because the nostore page is xml).

click on the thread's title in the messageboard,
not the "X new" or time stamp. It'll reset the "X new."
Yes, but only that one time. That's the problem I am trying to note. It's a pain to keep having to click on the thread title and then zip to the end (especially pbp posts that are pages and pages long). I realize that's a workaround, but the bug still exists, and I am noting for tracking purposes that it is affecting me.

X new is still not functiuoning properly, and threads that I have posted in (my own campaigns, even) are not showing up in my focus screen. I have a campaign with over a thousand posts I'm in, and it never shows up.
Great job, aside from that, guys. :) Thanks for updates...it means you're making our experience better.

lynora |

x new still not working right for me either. And clicking on the title only works until I post in a thread. Then I have to start over again, click the title to clear the x new. But at least now it's actually posting x new in the campaign threads even if it's not clearing as it should. Yesterday it wouldn't even do that. Also using firefox.

Joana |

If you go to any post other than one of the new ones, actually, the (x new) seems to clear. I had a thread with 401 posts with 1 new post, clicked on (1 new), and it took me (as usual) to the end of post 400 at the bottom of the previous page. I then nexted to post 401, and the (1 new) cleared, right after another thread with 2 new posts in the middle of the page didn't clear the (2 new).
Just in case that behavior creates an "aha!" moment for the PMG. :)

I have not read this entire thread so... I don't know if the situation is being resolved coincidentally at this time or if I have discovered a further symptom with the (x new) issues. If I click on the (x new) link, it is not disappearing when I return later. If it read (6 new) when I clicked on it, it says (6 new) even if there are no new posts later. I did notice that just now, when I clicked on the actual thread title... the (x new) disappeared finally.
Not sure if that is new, or helpful, but I thought I would mention it in case it helps. :)
Cheers

I'm still trying to track that down. The people who are complaining about it participate in a ton of campaigns and nobody ever says which campaign is having the problem....
It's all campaigns. If you get into them by clicking on (x new), there are tabs; if you just click on the thread title or Gameplay/Discussion/Whatever from your Campaigns tab, there's no tabs.

baldwin the merciful |

Gary it's in each campaign that I'm in. I linked my COT game in a previous post on this page.
This is what I've noticed on the PBP campaigns regarding the tabs on top. The game tabs (Camp Info, game thread, discussion, recruitment tabs) don't appear until after you post under a section, then they show up. So you can't toggle through the campaign without either posting or backing out of the thread completely.
The second issue is which has been discussed here is the (X New) which keep appearing.
These are the issues for each game under my profile. Thanks.

Sir Jolt |

I'm in a bunch of campaigns but they're all having the same problem.
*No link I create to any Paizo thread works; it just comes up as a blank page. For PbP even finding the thread and clicking on the title doesn't work. I have to go to the original recruitment thread (which I can open) and click on the link there. That's a real hassle since I can't even link to the recruitment page. It's hard to remember what the thread is called since, normally, I don't click on it; I click on a link or favorites tab (neither of which works).
One was a Carrion Crown game by DM Haldhin, one a Jade Regent game by DM Hamied and a Skulss & shackles by DM Immortal. I just can't remember the actual thread name and they're hard to find as the dots and new posts are usually missing.
*I get dots and new post messages on threads I've never been to. Ones I have been to often have no dots or new post notifications and those few that do have wildly incorrect numbers.
*When I make a new post, it always goes to a blank page. If I hit refresh 4 or 5 times its about 50/50 whether my post shows up or just vanishes.
Also, these are the same problems I had on Tuesday. Not one thing mentioned is working better for me today than it was on Tuesday. I'm running IE 9 on a Windows 7 (64x) machine. No compatability mode (a pointless feature that few websites gain any benefit from; most get screwed up by it).
EDIT: Post came through, got lucky. Interestingly, the Edit feature seems to work without problem.

Just because I'm sure poor Gary is being run ragged darting around to try to put out fires, I'll point out some good things about the update.
(Not at all to downplay the problems experienced by users like Sir Jolt and chavamana, which sound like a nightmare. But the update isn't uniformly bad, and once the glitches are ironed out, it ought to be more convenient for everyone. I'd still like dotted threads in closed subforums to be viewable in focus view without opening the subforums, though.)

ThorGN |

Rough week! Sounds even worse than mine...
All of the Campaigns I’m in have similar issues.
There are no tabs for navigation between threads.
When new posts come up if I click on the (x new) then it does not recognize that I have seen the posts, but if I click no the thread name and scroll down to the new posts, then it does register that I have read them.

We just rolled the site with some bug fixes:
Sticky threads are sticky again.
Focus includes focused threads from collapsed subforums.
If you've hidden a lot of threads in a forum, the forum no longer appears half empty.
Collapsed subforums are now displayed in lighter colored type at the top of the page.
Campaign tabs should be back for all campaigns and all campaign threads.
Viewing any campaign thread should properly reset "x new" for that thread.
Fix bugs related to "x new" not updating counts properly.
Thread display improved on mobile devices.
Prompts to connect play-by-post threads to campaign, or create new campaign should work properly.
Fix bugs deleting wishlists.
Fix messaging when looking at your own wishlist.
There are others under the hood, but those are the ones that are publicly visible, I think.

Patrick Harris @ SD |

Hey, so, I notice that when I click to hide a thread, it goes grey, but stays in view until the next refresh. I think that's a pretty cool workaround for the issue of wrong threads being hidden, because I can click and make it come back.
Except that I just tried that and instead it removed that thread from view and turned another one grey. So the problem is still there. ;)
