Every now and then, someone posts a unique magical trap that isn't really a trap, but an advantageous magical device. This thread is meant as a brainstorm hub for PC trapmakers looking to make traps that clearly advantage the typical adventuring party, or skew the world in some fun manner.

In short, please post your magic traps that are fun, interesting, and possibly abusive.

I'll start:

THE GOLDEN GOOSE
This golden statue of a goose continuously lays golden eggs.

An automatically resetting spell trap that duplicates the effects of fabricate (to create a gold ingot, egg, coin, etc.) costs 14,000gp to create plus 100 times the cost of the item to be created (100gp for a coin). Set a metronome or similar device in in the trap area to trigger it continuously, and it will pay for itself in the first day.

Infinite wealth.

LAZARUS WELL
This large water well lacks a water bucket, but rather has a flat platform suitable for lowering corpses and raising the living.

An automatically resetting spell trap set at the bottom of a large well. It duplicates the effects of raise dead upon any corpse lowered into it.

Is the cost of a small kingdom (522,500gp) worth it if it means absolutely everyone in your land can live out their lives to old age?

Silver Crusade

Doesn't fabricate require raw materials? Isn't this just a trap that turns existing gold ingots into golden eggs?

Shower cap of prestidigitation.

It cleans you real good.

Elamdri: It requires expensive material components which generally come in the form of raw materials. Magical traps that automatically reset and duplicate traps with expensive magical components add the cost of the material components 100 times over. However, once done, the trap can duplicate the spell effect infinitely.

Cheapy: That sounds more like a magical item. Traps are generally stationary (such as my golden statue or well). Call it a "Stall of cleanliness" or something and the concept still works, however. :)

The death star was a trap, and it wasn't stationary. Therefore, showercaps can be traps. QED.

Trap of mass heal. Great health plan for Your Capitol.

Silver Crusade

Raygun of Awesome

Automatically resetting Disintegrate trap.

Pew Pew Pew

Trap of imprisonment. Best. Jail. Ever.

Come on guys. Put your bac...flavor into it!

Trap of shape change. Limited in area, but best utility workforce ever. Every low level peon can take whatever form is most useful for the task at hand. An army of dragons, for example.

Limit use to the most loyal citizens.

Silver Crusade

I said pew pew pew!

Trap of wooden phalanx. Dm discretion, but in theory everyone could have d4+2 wooden golems for 18 hours at a time. Useful for labor and defense.

The Love Seat / The Heart-Shaped Bed

This trap, be it in the shape of a very comfortable recliner or a lavish, soft bed with red silk sheets, is activated by pressing a red button located on the side of the device on the left side (if a chair) or at the head (if a bed). When pressed, the bed targets anyone sitting in the chair or laying in the bed with the Waves of Ecstacy spell (CL 20). This effect lasts for 30 seconds if only the button is pressed, but the full 2 minutes if 1GP is inserted into the slot above the button before the button is pressed. This trap finds widespread popularity in Kaer Maga's Hospice district, particularly it's many brothels.

Fun hallways: Forced perspective. If you travel east through the corridor, you go down a size category. West brings you up a size category. The west end is larger by a gradual increase so you might not notice till the second time you walk down it in the same direction.
Tunnel of love. Acts as a Philter of Love to all susceptible creatures once per visit.

You could have it transform any nearby corpse into golden energy. The golden energy is sucked into the goose causing it to lay an egg. The deceased is very hard to raise. Range is an encounter area. Not a distance in feet.

I think low-level, infinitely resetting traps are fun, especially when spells are combined in their creation. I did a whole thread of these elsewhere involving the Create Water cantrip. Stuff like:

Prestidigitation + Create Water to craft colored, flavored fizzy water (soda fountain)
Create Water + Cure Light Wounds for a healing water fountain
Create Water + Shock for pools of slow punishment

So what's something else we could make...

I'm on Goal, you can't tag me
This innocuous post has several divine glyphs of Abjuration. Those who touch the post are continuously blessed with the gift of Sanctuary.

An automatically resetting spell trap that duplicates the effect of a Sanctuary spell on anyone in contact with the column. Any creature that happens to notice the user of this trap will then need to make a DC 16 Will save to take any hostile action against them.

Or how about a nice combo-trap...

Pharasma's Warding Hand
This device appears in the form of a hand on the doors of Pharasmin crypts. The palm is open and numerous arcane runes have been inscribed in it; the necromantic sigils of fear and positive energy as well as the Mother's Spiral are among them.

The trap is triggered if any undead are in the vicinity. Each round the creature is targeted by a spectral hand of pallid energy which burns their profane corpse and fills them with an otherworldly dread such that the Restless Dead will flee the place post haste.

The trap is created using Ray of Disruption and Chill Touch but, since it's only targeting undead it only inflicts the Fear effect of the touch attack. Since the thing would be so cheap to make, Pharasmin arcanists who anticipate very powerful or numerous undead might line the door's archway or lintel with multiples of the door, inflicting perhaps multiple D6's of damage as well as a very overwhelming and long-lasting urge to flee.

Anyone else got something here?
