Someone suggested going to one of the bars but I don't drink much anymore. It triggers panic attacks. I'm already going to be nervous (even though I shouldn't be since it should be an acceptable place for me). I need to find out what events are going on and if anyone wants to go with me. Even if I don't get dressed up, it would be a boring day if I was down there alone.
You could skip the parade and just hit up the Queer Geek afterparty instead? There should be non-alcohol options and board games available. :-)
And I'm so old that I have no idea what "crunk" means.

Not sure if this link will work, but this is pretty cool.
In case it doesn't it's a picture of some cops helping to deliver cakes to the couples waiting in line to be married. A friend said it reminded her of the cops delivering pizza to the protestors in the Capitol.
Times like this, I love my adopted state of Wisconsin.

Saw mentioned a couple of times yesterday that, now that a lawsuit has been filed in North Dakota, every state in the union either has legal same sex marriage or a pending lawsuit on the subject. Everyone's going to get there, sooner rather than later.

It seems that police departments are getting into the spirit of equality. It'll be interesting to see if this is a sign of things to come or if it'll be an oddball case of not tolerating discrimination.
We have like three smaller gay pride parades here in the various boroughs in New York City.
Sunday June 29th is THE BIG ONE in Manhattan...and Intact America.org is encouraging everyone there to participate and spread the word:

One of my homelands has legalized gay marriage. Now I just have to sit back and patiently wait for Hell to freeze over. That's how I'll know that Florida has legalized gay marriage as well.
It's always been weird to me that places as vibrant and liminal as South Florida and Louisiana can be or still are bigoted. I mean, the land itself says "there is no either/or."

Let's say that before we rejoice too much, we have to think there will be people who will use this to their advantage, but not in the spirit it was meant to be.
Tokenism remains a concern in just about every field.
Never said it was. But it is a concern. Its certainly something I worry about professionally.
Tokenism is a lot more easily dealt with than the discrimination. There will always be those who are hired as being just a token [insert whatever here], but that is the unfortunate side-effect of people being, well, people.

Apparently in journalism, there are certain "rules" you have to follow in order to maintain objectivity. I have only seen and heard Lady Chablis referred to as "she" and "her" but seeing her being referred to as a "he" in this article is quite jarring.

Of course, even in Ft. Lauderdale, which has a sizable LGBT community and in the whole, supports the community, my girlfriend and I still have to watch out for cops that'll assume she's a prostitute and stop us. Because apparently, a transwoman can't possibly have a loving relationship with a cis male, so clearly she's a hooker. *rolls eyes*
Indiana strikes down same-sex marriage ban.
The ruling is the 21st consecutive victory in state and federal court for the freedom to marry since the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Windsor v. United States in June 2013. The ruling is the 17th win in federal court for marriage since June and comes just one day before the landmark first anniversary of the Windsor ruling.

Well, some people actually would prefer arranged marriages. If it works for them, at least let them live with the consequences of a choice of their own choosing.

Sometimes those are the worst sort of walls. You can't see them. Sometimes you're not even aware of them.
