LOL@Scythia!
If Piper was a Synth it would be hilarious.

Spoilers. Now I know there is a female synth companion :(
I'm 27 hours in and still haven't met a synth.I've met plenty. All but one has been shown mercy.
Mercy is my custom 10mm that does 43 damage.
~laughter~ I like that!

.308 ammo isn't that hard to find.
When I was using a .308 weapon as my primary, I blew through it like candy and then was disappointed when Halloween was over. My stockpile of .308 is just starting to recover back up to 200+, which I can burn through in 1 super mutant dungeon, as I proved with my 10mm (I have a bonus damage vs super mutants pistol). My .38 ammo on the other hand only goes up, despite me using it most of the time. I'm sitting on over 1200 rounds at this point.

Really? I have like 67 .308 ammo, since it only takes like twoshots to kill a Super Mutant Skirmisher. I spent all of 6 killing a Legendary Brute, and that was because he Mutated after the first two and got all his HP back.
Of course, my Sniper Rifle does 76 damage a shot.

~LAUGHTER~ So very true!!!
I haven't gotten into decorating yet. Too busy building towers covered in beds.

Because my pipe rifle does what I need it to do, I haven't upgraded a .308 gun yet, so what I'm finding are mostly 40 dmg guns that just aren't enough of an upgrade from my .38. I was mostly <lvl 10 when I ran out of .308, though the 10mm was more recent. .308 guns also tend to be much slower fire rate, so they don't work as well vs ferals and other fast moving things.

Yar.
My current loadout:
Left quickslots (Melee):
-Spiked Knuckles
-Cavalier's Chinese Sword (15% more damage reduction when blocking)
Top Quickslots (Two-Handed Guns):
-The Terrible Shotgun (Hardened Long Barrel Marksman's Tactical Quick Eject Medium Mag Combat Shotgun)
-Marksman's Sniper Rifle
-Hardened Armor Piercing Submachine Gun
Right Quickslots (1 handed guns):
-Powerful Tactical Quick Eject 10 MM Pistol
-.44 Revolver (all the cool s++* requires Rank 3 Gun Nut =()
-Nothing
Bottom Quickslots (Consumables)
-Stimpaks
-Frag Grenades
-Molotov Cocktails
Gives some options for pretty much every situation TTS is my go-to, with the Sniper for longrange and the Pistol for finishing off weak enemies and checking for Ghouls who play dead.
SMG for hordes of enemies. So far, only used once. Revolver is a new addition, I only have like 8 rounds for it.
Knuckles are because I mistakenly invested a perk into make unarmed weapons better when I have found zero good unarmed weapons, and I take out my frustration by beating Raiders to death with them.
Sword is just so I don't forget it exists, Cait is going to be using it when I can upgrade it.

If you plan on doing any Crafting, a strength of 3 or 4 is advisable. 3 nets you Armorer and 4 nets you Blacksmith. Perception of 4 nets you Locksmith.Charisma of 6 nets you Local Leader, if you plan on doing any settlement building. Intelligence of 6 nets you Science as well as Gun Nut, Hacker, and Scrapper. Those are the "essential" perks IMHO. Crafting can be valuable.

Someone said that this is the DC version of Piper. I agree.
Here's the "super" interesting thing on that comparison: the voice actress who plays Piper is the wife of Brandon Routh, who played Superman in "Superman Returns" (horrible movie IMHO though I thought he was a good pick for the character). So the "Lois Lane" character is Superman's wife....
I think it's coincidence (I certainly hope she was chosen for her acting ability and I enjoy her performance) but I found that amusing.
On the subject of voice acting... different people have opinions on both the voicing of various characters (especially the main char) and the lip sync with the animation.... but I do like that they've worked to give the character models far more obvious emotes. I remember trying to get screencaps of characters in Skyrim and FNV with different looks on their face (for the purposes of a roleplaying journal which is embarrassingly a thing I used to do) and apart from some vaguely different combat faces, I realized they never really had changes in expression. It's nice to see the characters really smile, scowl, frown, etc. Some of it is even possibly overanimated, but given the nature of animation I prefer that to underdone.
OT: on Elder Scrolls, modders are working on a "Skyblivion" which runs Oblivion in the Skyrim engine (you have to own both to play)... certainly what they've come up with looks great. If they finish it should be interesting. As for ES6, yes, I believe they are working on that.

Hmmm...
I am scrounging for money for the game, and I am plotting out my build in advance. For starters, how does this sound?:
S: 2
P: 4
E: 4
C: 5
I: 6
A: 5
L: 2
This is very close to what I started with, except I swapped Endurance and Luck. I would take a look at the perk chart and decide what the highest thing you want is. I wish I had done it before my game, but if I were to go back it would be:
Str 3: Armorer
Per 4: Lockpicking
End 1: Nothing
Cha 6: Local Leader
Int 8: Robotics Expert
Agi 3: Sneak
Luck 3: Bloody Mess
There are 4 points left over. 2 into Agility if I plan on using VATS, 2 into Endurance just for HP, or perhaps some in str if I want to make melee mods.

Doomkitten, echoing the others in that if you want to craft, you want a higher Strength -- also because you want a decent carrying capacity.
If you don't care about crafting or settlements, you're probably fine. Check the perk chart and think about what you want too. If you find certain items in game you can also raise your attributes higher.

Never been, no. I'm sure I'll find it eventually.
My current mission is to track down all these "Eddie Winter" holotapes. They seem interesting.
Rynjin |
My latest accomplishment is slaughtering my way through Quincy. It took me the better part of two hours to do it, but I killed all those damn Gunners, and pissed on Baker's corpse. I earned my 20th level, I think.
Whole lotta work when I just wanted a holotape that, so far, has no discernible purpose, and had to take a little Ghoul kid home.
Probably would have been better for them to just stay out of my way.

She likes it when I pick locks and shoot unarmed people in the back of the head and take their s#@&.
Something that might help with this, don't know if it's a glitch or not, but for a safe with a terminal linked to it that can lock/unlock it you can pick the lock manually, reengage the lock, and repeat. Get EXP too so it should also keep granting approval.
Again, I don't know if they're all like this or if the one I tested it on was just bugged. It was in the police station next to Bunker Hill that has a Fat Man. Funny Raiders too.
