First Steps Part 2+ (sanctioned PFS)

Recruitment

We have recently finished First Steps Part 1, and are looking for 2-3 more characters that want to join for the next 2 parts. The current party is: Fighter (melee), Magus, Druid (non-healer).

First Steps is meant to be an introductory scenario for new players to the PFS. It is three sessions long, and live can take around 8 hours total, so it should not be a crazy long campaign. Part one took around 1 month. Anyone playing all three parts will be level 2 at the end, a much better starting point for PFS play going forward. So any characters applying should be brand new level 1 or with only 1 xp accumulated so far or you will level and not be able to play part 3.

Posting Frequency
We have been a very fast paced group so far, with everyone posting around once a day or more, and myself multiple times a day on weekdays. Please plan to post/check at least daily, or you run the risk of missing out on asking an NPC a question or participating in a dialogue. You will be "botted" if you are absent for an extended period of time if you don't let me know ahead of time.

PFS
Please note this will be a PFS sanctioned scenario, and the following restrictions (and more) apply:
Level 1, new characters or level 1 with 1 XP
Core races
Core classes, APG, UM, UC (check the allowed resources list for extras)
Everyone starts with 150 gold
Max HP at first level
You do NOT need to pick a faction before First Steps

Note: I absolutely do not mind players new to PFS, but if you are please do take 10 minutes and read the Guide to Organized Play. It's free and a quick read!

Character Submissions
Unlike other threads, PFS characters do not always need a novella as a back story. Basically, we are all Pathfinders and members of the Society. We are gathered at the Grand Lodge in Absalom to get a mission from the Venture-Captain.

What I would like to see from your submission is 2-3 paragraphs describing your upbringing, why you came to Absalom, and why did you decide to become a Pathfinder. A full statblock is not necessary to apply, but you can add it if you wish (spoiler tag it if posting it in this thread).

Recruitment Window
I want to leave this open throughout some of the weekend to allow players to post but the party and myself are eager to get going. Plan is to close it sometime Monday at the latest. Some players with outstanding submissions may be picked earlier, so yes, an early submission will have an advantage. But that those will have to be excellent submissions with full backgrounds and full CORRECT stat blocks.

Other Requirements AFTER we begin
I will need an email address to mail you your chronicle sheet, as well as links to the maps. Maps are hosted on google pics.
You should have a PFS number by the time we start

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

I'm new to Pathfinder. Haven't played RPGs for 20 years but recently started GMing for my two boys. This would be a good way for me to get to play. I think this character I came up with might fit in...

Gaspar was a curious halfling, always interested in taking things apart to see how they worked. As a child he built a crossbow out of spare parts. He was also curious about the natural world and loved to sketch pictures in his journal of unusual (or mundane) plants and animals. He apprenticed himself to an alchemist in his hometown, but after he accidentally started a fire when experimenting with the reagants, he was afraid of the consequences so he fled in the night, setting out for the great city of Absalom hoping to continue his studies there. He was delighted to find a society dedicated to exploration of the unknown and was eager to join.

Gaspar is gregarious and excitable, if a bit absent-minded. He is quite nimble (when he is paying attention) so he has is pretty handy with an alchemical bomb. His favored tactic when threatened is to drink his special mutagen which increases dexterity, then throw bombs and/or fire his crossbow with pinpoint accuracy. He can brew potions of Cure Light Wounds, which come in handy when he gets into accidents.

EDIT: changing him from a gnome to a halfling, it fits the stats better.

Grand Lodge

I already have a Samauri @1st level w/ 1 XP.

Here is the Link to His Sheet:

Bao Trang, N Human Sword Saint 1(Samauri)

Bao was a Samauri in the Service of Lingshen's Military, Which is the Greatest in Tian Xia. Lingshen's ruler gives his enemies a choice, surrender or die. In all the time of Bao's service, no one had ever opposed their might.

Untill one Day a small, but stuborn country refused to surrender, and chose to fight. Bao was greatful for the chance to prove himself in open combat. However, much to his horror, when the Ruler said " or Die" he ment everyone.... Woman, Childern, the Elderly, and the Infirm.

Bao did his duty, but is forever haunted by the memories. Bao left his Lord Service after the conflict, and became a Ronin, travelling from land to land, seeking a way to redeem himself for his actions. While searching, he fond of warm Saki. It was at a bar he met his first pathfinder, and decided to join the Lantern Lodge.

I have a Tian Xia monk at level 1. I haven't had a chance to play him yet. I would love to join!

He is the traditional kung fu movie style monk. :)

EDIT: I should warn you that I played this one before, with another character many months ago. If you don't feel comfortable including me, I would understand.

I will enter the 2-3 paragraphs when I have a little more time this weekend.

Well, I really don't know what to say as I am pretty knew to Pathfinder (not table top rpgs in general) and this would be the first game if I joined in it. But there's a first time for everything, no? Anyway I would really love to be able to join as I have a lot more time on my hands now. This is the first character I've made for pathfinder though so I might still make some minor tweaks to him at the end.

Darbi Dasidbro Darayabvahush Dunovin, a weird name for a adult to have. But the story of this man sadly doesn't follow in suit to it. To how his name came to be is a question, his skills are not. As a young boy, Darbi was born into a family of hunters who lived in a small village. It was expected for him to become stronger and more hardy then his brothers as family traditions predicted. Instead he was estimated to be of sub-par average when compared to his older brothers. This eventually caused Darbi to miss out on some of the finer points of melee combat training out in the forests. He was given though, the chores of both skinning the kills that were brought back as well as cooking with his mother.

As he was forced to stay home at the village, he would eventually pick up different skills in medical training when he interned with the village doctor. Eventually though, when he was well in his teens, he was allowed to go on hunts. On his first hunt he loved the anxiety of the hunt, and actually proved to be quite skilled in the forest. Even though he lacked the skills of melee combat, he picked up the bow as if the bow had chosen him. He never had any real trouble tackling the bigger game such as bears when they were distracted by the others in the party.

After a couple years of hunting with his family, his second eldest brother, D.D. Dunovin, was killed one night when their campfire was attacked by a pack of wolves. Even though this was a tragedy for the family, it was also an embarrassment as they let their prey get the best of them. After the eventual slaughter of the wolf pack by the remanding members of the Dunovin family, including their mother. This was when Darbi decided that he wouldn't be returning back to the village, as he wanted to hunt more then just game animals. Even though his father protested, claiming to be too naive to survive in the real world, his mother understood that the best education is that not at home in a tiny village but out in the unknown where he can be himself. Thus she gave him money, saved up from their trade, as she knew he would need it to start his own adventures. With a hug good bye in the darkest of nights, Darbi parted ways from his family, his village, and his back woods in spite to search for the unknown. Eventually, stumbling the Grand Lodge in Absalom with just a few scraps of copper to his name. Desperate enough to take the most foolish of jobs not for the money, but for the adventure.

Fung Xi was a child when he was taken to the Master of the Four Winds for training. There he met three other children, they were to be the Four Winds of the Qain. During the years they trained together, Fung became the best of friends with the others, they were almost like family.

One day when, they were almost 18, his "brother" and rival to the rank of East Wind decided that we was tired of waiting for their master to choose who would gain the right to learn from the Master's Scrolls. Confronting his brother Tsing in the Master's Hut, Fung tried hard to dissuade his best friend from this path. Soon, words dissolved into action and the two faced off against each other. Brother Tsing was always more cunning and eventually gained the upper hand. As he was about to deliver the knockout punch when the Master entered his hut.

Immediately, the two students stood at attention. "What is going on here?" the Master of the Four Winds spoke in an even and controlled voice.

Without missing a beat, Fung Xi spoke up, "Master, I was here to steal the scrolls, Brother Tsing discovered me here and tried to stop me."

There was a long silence, and Brother Tsing said nothing.

"Fung Xi, you are expelled for your insolence. You will leave immediately. Tsing, return to bed."

--

It is more than likely that the Master knew that Fung was lying, and possible that he felt that the young monk was ready to leave and continue his training alone, but no one truly knows. Since that day, Fung wandered, eventually ending up in Goka. Now he works as a new Pathfinder...

Luisila was adopted as a child from the Temple of Calistria by a childless human couple, who ran a successful dry goods store in the Grand Bazaar. Although her parents were by no means wealthy, Luisila never went hungry, had a stable loving home and there were always new clothes when she wore out her old ones. This was in stark contrast to the street children and beggars that Luisila saw everyday in her neighbourhood.

As an adolescent, she was curious about her elven heritage. Though she learned little from the Calistrian clergy, they did spark her interest in helping street people, especially those in service to the Sacred Sting. Who knows – one of them could even be her biological mother? By this time, her aged parents had sold their business, reluctantly accepting the lack of interest their daughter had in becoming a simple shopkeeper. By the time they had died, Luisila was in holy orders and working as a missionary amongst the general populace of the Puddles.

Despite her efforts to help the people, Luisila became frustrated by the nature of the people she worked with to exploit each other for petty gain, while being preyed on by drug pedlars and street criminals. This was not helped by the corrupt constabulary, local officials and politicians she encountered. Luisila eventually conceded she was setting about the problem all wrong. If she couldn’t make a difference at the grass-roots level, she would break into the world of the elite and take revenge on the greedy and corrupt from the top. Now all she needed was a path to fame and fortune. From her time serving adventurers in her parents’ store, she knew just the group to help her – the Pathfinder Society!

Liberty's Edge

For your consideration: Irijaya Suchitra, Human Oracle of Lore (she changed from Cleric/Monk to Loreacle on further thought).

Irijaya grew up in Niswan, capital city of Jalmeray. Her parents were well-known and respected scribes in the Grand Chronicler's Circle, and she learned their trade as a very small child. However, it was when she was 13 that it began - uncontrolled outbursts in the Celestial tongue, strange trances that provided unusual insights, and generally odd behavior. Concerned, her parents brought Irijaya to many doctors and priests before an old sage of Irori confirmed the truth: Irijaya was an oracle of the Master of Masters.

In Jalmerayan society, this led to even greater prestige for Irijaya and her family. Being the mouth of one of the most revered deities of Jalmeray made Irijaya the center of attention - some of it unwanted. The beautiful young woman soon found herself the sexual target of unscrupulous priests and travelers, as well as a sort of curiosity to most of the people of Niswan. She tired of the stares and was scared of the possibility of rape, so she, with the help of her parents, fled Jalmeray and joined the Pathfinder Society. She's new in Absalom, but has already found some common ground with the Osirion Faction, given their motto of "Power Through Knowledge." She's ready to explore her gifts and abilities without the constant harassment she faced back home.

Liberty's Edge

New link for my character sheet: Irijaya. I changed one of her first level spells - from "Abundant Ammunition" to "Protection from Evil." Seemed like a better choice upon reflection. I don't anticipate making any further changes.

Thank you all for the applications. Roster has been updated, and PMs have been sent to the people selected.

Keep an eye out on the recruitment forum, because I will probably be running these First Steps Series in a rotating basis in the future.
