Gunslinger / Pally Feat help

Advice

Dark Archive

I was working on the whole Divine Hunter 2/Mysterious Pistolero x for a build a few months ago and after seeing others talk about Gunslingers in general over the past few days I had posted that I had a build WITH all feats and then I look at my progression and I had like FOUR =/ So now after trying to build him out at 3am I utterly failed and attempted it again when I woke up and I managed to list out all my feats but idk what levels to take them for maximum efficiency. So far the build stands at

Human Mysterious Pistolero/Divine Hunter
20 PT Buy

STR 10
DEX 16
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 10
CHA 16

1 Gun 1 PBS,Rapid Reload, Gunsmithing
2 Pal 1 Precise Shot
3 Pal 2 Rapid Shot
4 Gun 2
5 Gun 3
6 Gun 4
7 Gun 5
8 Gun 6
9 Gun 7
10 Gun 8
11 Gun 9 Improved Precise Shot

The other feats I want to include are Deadly Aim, Dodge, Mobility, Deft Shootist Deed but im not sure in what order they should be incorporated let alone most efficient. Im sticking with my first 2 levels but Rapid Shot may not be the best choice at level 3 so any help and feedback from the board would be welcome. Oh and this is as of now a PFS build in case there was confusion

So does anyone have any handy suggestions or am I just shooting bull here =(

Deadly aim is key, ASAP. Your feat progression is good once you add that. There was recently another post about this same build. I will try to find the link for you

I would take it just like youve got em listed. Unless you think AC will be a problem for you in which case I'd take Dodge at 3rd and move Rapid Shot to 5th. Otherwise looks good to me. :)

This is fantastic, cant believe i havent seen that one...I read up on another Holy Gun thread from a couple months ago but it wasnt as good as this one. Guess Deadly Aim will be my level 5 feat then

Yeah I never considered that build viable until I read the build that was brought up

Well the Holy Gun archetype is pretty bad for a dip if you're going the Gunslinger route hence the mysterious stranger love. I was still against this idea til I found out the pistolero got pistol training making it so much more viable. I still feel though that 18's in DEX and CHA for this build would be better but I really do not wanna dump any important stats for this guy atm so I'm stuck at 2 16's if I go human and well those feats are too important to get on board ASAP to NOT go human.

Agreed. The mysterious stranger and divine hunter are the way to go

1 person marked this as a favorite.

the build that I ran last night was pretty impressive. i managed to take out a huge threat in like 2 rounds. also the Saves are amazing for once I don't dread rolling a will save only to know that I will fail.. my only thing is that my dm was a little cheesed out by my double pistol build. I did take merciful for my guns. to make up for it. but all in all it was a pretty solid damage dealing build.

Are you TWF Double Barrel Pistols with weapon cords??? If so yeah its quite cheese but in a way kind of effective...idk I think Im just gonna focus on a +1 Reliable Double Barrel Pistol that way I dont run into a GM that hates on the weapon cord trick haha plus I like the whole Vincent Valentine mysterious badass with one awesome gun haha

That is the weapon I use with my gunslinger

no TWF I have to spend a swift action to Add my CHa to damage or smite evil. that take up my Swift action. soo No TWF for me.

I chose to do +1 merciful DBL barrel for my back story and to ease the dm anger at me doing 90 damage a round.

Well a Merciful gun makes for a really nice Pally weapon and would be a nice touch to keep up the LG standing so no innocents would be killed.

Last week my friends and I tried building this type of character for a ninth level start in a Kingmaker campaign. We figured that you really only need one level of Mysterious Stranger (for the cha bonus to damage) or take four levels (for the bonus to initiative and the bonus feat)- everything else should be paladin, which gets you more smites.

You can also take oath of vengeance, which allows you to convert two lay on hands to smites as well.

Ultimately we choose to ditch that build as Kingmaker often has us fighting encounter after encounter with no rest, and being limited in smites and focused aim can lead to a tapped out gunslinger doing minimum damage just when the cyclops juju zombie mummy makes an appearance. I went with a min/maxed Pistolero 5/ Fighter 4 instead. Turns out playing a none-to-bright and socially awkward gunhand from the wild west mysteriously transported to the Stolen Lands is lots of fun.

What about getting 5 levels of Gunslinger 1st, so you can grab that DEX to damage ASAP? Then 2 Paladi, then whatever you feel like.

Also... I know Mysterious Stranger/Pistolero is most likely a misprint. But am I the only who thinks combining those archetypes is perfect for a Clint Eastwood-like character?

no those work By raw as of now.

I considered it. the other thing to consider is ammunition I always pack silver bullets cold iron bullets and admantuim bullets. that bypasses 75% of the DR the rest I will leave up to Smite

Ah, I know it works by RAW, what I mean is that I (an many others) believe it's gonna be Errata'ed. (Which is a shame, if you ask me)

Or did the errata for UC combat came out and they left the archetype combination? 'Cause that'd be awesome!

Anyway, if your DM allows the Mysterious Pistolero, go with it! 5 levels for DEx to damage, 2 Pally levels for awesome saves and then... well... whatever you want... There is also the possibility of getting a Synthesist Summoner and spend lots of Evolutions on Dexterity and extra arms so you can make MANY attacks per round.

Mysterious Stranger 5 - Paladin 2 - Summoner 13 is pretty good! Even if a bit bizarre.

"Hey, whats that?"
"Well... It looks like... and 8-armed gunslinger with divine and arcane powers! It's so... Beautiful... and graceful..."

And then you show them you are also deadly and terrifying! Just leave a free arm to reload! :D

I don't see it.

Lemmy, Mysterious Stranger 5 doesn't get dex to damage.

Pistolero gets Pistol Training at level 5 which is the equivalent. And Lemmy I know you want Pistol Training ASAP but you also dont wanna blow a feat on Precise Shot so at least one level of Divine Hunter at 2 will help early on
