Hey, I said BOOOOOOOOOB! not BOOOOOOOOOOOB! Two completely different things.

That said, I'd watch a show entitled BOOOOOOOB'S BOOOOOOOOOBS. It would give Bob's burgers a run for its money.

Congrats. Always happy to see people lose weight. I'm doing my best right now too. I'm doing it without surgery as much as possible, even getting my degree in nutrition as part of that plan. I'm hoping that if I do have to do surgery at any point, it will be a cosmetic thing.

Bob_Loblaw wrote:
It's been a while since I've poked my head in here. I just wanted to give everyone an update on my weight loss surgery. I am down 70 pounds from the day of surgery and 90 pounds overall. That's 10 inches around my waist. That's going from a size 26/28 to a size 20. I feel wonderful. I haven't bought any new clothes because I'm losing weight so fast.

Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster!

Pathfinder has been a huge help to me, coming to accept myself as a trans woman. Getting the chance to play female characters (and one in-particular) gave me a safe space to explore my feminity and allowed me to be comfortable in my own skin for the first time, which was instrumental in giving me the confidence to finally share my lifelong secret and take steps to live my life as myself for the first time in 27 years.

But even before that experience, Paizo's wonderful and vocal staff and the dedication to visiblility that comes through in their products helped me feel like there was a place in the world for girls like me. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me to not only see strong trans characters in their works (I wish to someday be like Anevia too and marry a beautiful female paladin *wistful sigh*), but to also see their trans staff living openly and proudly (I love you, Crystal Frasier! <3 ). You are all awesome and do awesome work, and you should be 100% proud of it. You all made a huge difference in my life, helping me to find happiness when I had given up on being happy long ago. I can (and often do) tell people of the good that RPGs can do because of my experience with Pathfinder :)

Additionally, I am a very active member/GM/organizer of the local PFS community, and I recently came out to them as well. I have received nothing but support and well-wishes, particularly from the Venture Officer corps, and I couldnt be happier or prouder to be part of such a wonderful community! I even spent the last con out to everyone, with my proper name on my badge (albeit still in androgynous boy mode as I'm still working up confidence to go out full en femme), and it was no more eventful than any other con. Thanks to all of them for their amazing support and well-wishes.

I'm nearing my 6 month tran-iversary on HRT, and I'm down almost thirty pounds (20-30 more to go!), and I'm happy for the first time in my life! This entire experience has been magical and absolutely glorious, and I kick myself every day for not doing it sooner.

Now, I just need to find a girlfriend....

That's awesome, Hrothdane!

Congrats on taking the step of coming out and also finding the local support of Society as well.

If there's a suggestion I can make from the sidelines, it is related to losing weight. It is only one step of a process... and far too often the 'rebound' is worse than the weight that one takes off (personal experience there).

If you haven't looked at them already, examine your eating habits, physical activity, and how much you're altering them, and how much the alterations are going to stick?

As far as the 'finding a girlfriend' thing? Humbly, I would suggest giving it time and letting things happen as they will.

You're taking dramatically and impressively huge steps with your life right now, and a relationship may or may not impact those steps.

Be safe, careful, and may you have continued good luck!

@Wei Ji Thank you! I mainly am anxious about meeting a girl because I am comfortable in my body for the first time, and actually feel like dating. I never sought it out much before because of all the issues.

As for dieting, I've been quite careful to pick up things slowly. Stopped drinking soda, then started exercising, subbed in salads for other meals, stopped snacking as much, etc....

@Kalindlara *high five sister* Nice! My goal is to start full-timing by my birthday in around two months. I'll be done with all the laser hair removal on my face by then, and I'll be nearing 7 months of HRT by then. I have no makeup game, and I'm incredibly anxious about passing :/

I'm lucky and insurance covers HRT in my state, and I found a good specialist for it through one of the local LGBT centers that got me on it right away.

When I first transitioned, I lost weight mostly through portion control and getting rid of sodas. Congratulations on everything Hrothdane ^_^ Sounds like you're well on your way to finding a great place for yourself. If you're going to be at paizocon, feel free to say hi and stuff. =)

Girlfriends come with time and self-confidence; for now you get to be selfish and love yourself the way you'll eventually heap praise and love on a GF!

I'm so glad I could play a part in helping you find happiness. Sad as it sounds, that's a big reason for everything I do here and why I try to be very out and frank about who I am and where I came from. Hopefully someday I can congratulate you in person (I'll be at PaizoCon and GenCon this year, so please say hi if you're at either event!)

Thank you so much everyone!

Lissa and Crystal, aside from what I got from listening to your stories and using them to help understand my own experiences, you two being visible has given me a lot of inspiration to be visible myself. With how completely positive my transition has been and how much of a support network I have, I feel like I owe it to the community (the lawful good in me talking hehe) to give back, since so many others dont have that luxury.

I would jump to go to one of the big cons (I've never been myself) and meet you gals in person, especially after a friend of mine raved about playing at Crystal's table a few Paizocons ago. But I am a poor student one quarter away from graduating, and Paizocon is right at the end of my last quarter and Gencon is really far away (I should probably be in the middle of my legal name and gender change by then too). I am taking a year off before grad school to focus on getting my transition stuff in order and probably work a bit, so I should hopefully be able to make it up next year!

I wish I had a little more money to spare - I'd try to help you get there. Unfortunately, my writing money will barely get me there. :/

That said, if there's ever anything that you think I can help with - trans-related, Pathfinder-related, whatever - feel free to PM me. ^_^

(+10 to everything you said about visibility and inspiration, by the way. I don't say it enough, but Lissa and Crystal were instrumental to my coming out and gaining of confidence.)

I don't really have much income and stuck living at my parents place and can't really come out to them with how trivial they seem to get upset and need help. I have graduated college and still have not gotten a job with interviews being nearly impossible. I wish I had better living conditions but pathfinder gives me hope. transitiong when your parents end up fighting each other in 5 minutes sometimems is not good.

Congrates, Hrothdane! I'm still pretty young, but only my mother knows about my identity and is comfortable and supportive. Everybody else in the house either a) knows and isn't comfortable b) doesn't know or c) doesn't know and kick my teeth in if they did. My gaming group is the one place where I feel safe. Anyways, I'll stop ranting about me and continue supporting you! We're all here for when an a+!+*!~ inevitably rolls around for you to rant and vent. And if one doesn't, lucky you!

Good luck on your journeys! If you suspect someone of being an asshat, take the safe route and smite them. It's the only way to be sure ;P

I'm wanting a sequel to Jupiter Rising (which I think everyone should have loved and gone too...but unfortunately...that didn't happen).

Not that it will happen now, but wanting more of their imaginative films (which apparently I'm am part of the minority who really enjoy everything they've ever come out with and supported their stuff as much as possible).

I liked the movie, thought it had glaring flaws (montage was messed up - you could see how some scenes were not flowing properly into the new scenes). There was also a lot of fault on the watchers side where they did not follow the rational in-world conclusions ("hahah genetics don't work that way" - "dude, have you watched the movie? our civilization is a scam run from the outside, they have vehement interest in distorting our biological sciences to keep us from messing with their plans").

The Sun's headline today was that the Queen allegedly backs Brexit (the UK's departure from the EU). Anyone who knows anything about UK politics is that the Queen never expresses public opinions on her government's politics.

The Murdoch press clearly decided to steal back the "scummiest paper" award after just a single day.

Well, as a fortysomething, marrried, cis, straight-identified guy... I have no qualms saying that I LOVED Jupiter Ascending, while accepting that it was completely absurd.

I took my then-15-year-old daughter to see it at the local multiplex while my wife (her mom) was out of town. Afterward, we laughed over how utterly bonkers the flick was over burgers at a local fast-casual place. I think we were both in exactly the right frame of mind to see it.

Where I think Kajehase was heading towards was 'if they believed in censorship, they'd censor the living bejesus out of the Daily Mail first'?

No argument that holding folks accountable is necessary.

However, to eliminate the ability of folks to perform actions they are accountable for is a bit extreme, in this case via censorship?

At least, that's how I'm reading that, clarification requested?

I am sorry that your home is treating you this way. Whether you moved there or grew up there, whether you can't stand to leave it or can't leave even though you want to, I am sorry that your home has failed you in this way.

Also Kansas. Their legislature just proposed a $2500 bounty for reporting transpeople in "inappropriate" bathrooms, which I guarantee with be the catalyst for all sorts of abuse beyond that of the bathroom ban itself. A financial incentive to mess with transpeople? That's just what we need.

I... guess... there's a benefit to living in a state that hasn't had a budget or any sort of legislative work complete for almost a year?

Not all the programs dying because there's no money, but at least the really stupid laws aren't getting passed because... they'd require money...

We can't have those 'crazy' people confusing our simple people with non-binary identities! It'd disrupt our powerbase and really squick people out! Also, it's an election year so something like this is a cheap easy target, someone will sue probably it'll probably get tossed out but that don't mean nothin' t' me, I'll get elected for upholding good moral values!

Public bathrooms are not for sex. Or taking a shower. GET A ROOM! Seriously, that's kind of squicky to me.

But hey, THOSE laws are already ON THE BOOKS!

But as far as the gender of the person using the stalls? Meh, who cares? Just please don't leave the stall with everything hanging out?

Truth in text, sadly:
...admits that he's done 'hanging out thing' a few times because the stalls were smaller than the average space a person gets on an average commercial airliner and he's a big guy. I have tried to wait until I was the only one in the room, at least?

I just canceled our planned summer vacation to the Outer Banks. When I canceled, I let the hotel and Air B&B owners know that we're canceling because of this brutal and clearly Unconstitutional legislation, and to let their representatives know exactly how much money they've lost.

Beyond the obvious evil stupidity of these laws, I wonder about the actual enforcement.

What evidence is required to get the $2500? Will there be authorities on hand to whom I can point out the suspected transperson? Otherwise, unless I detain them myself or know their name ahead of time, how can anything be verified? How do these idiots even think this will work?
Also, transpeople are pretty rare. Why do I suspect that a majority of complaints will be false positives? Targeting people who don't match our normal feminine or masculine standards. I bet there will be lawsuits over cis people accused of being trans and forced to prove otherwise? Sadly, something like that going public is more likely to get the law repealed than a change in attitudes towards transpeople.

Oh, no, Jeff, that's Phase Two.

Get the lawyers involved.

EVERYONE HATES LAWYERS! No, not really, there's some scummy ones, there's some awesome ones

And then one can grumble and gripe to one's heart's content that those lawyers messed everything up, and not even bother to change one's basal behaviour patterns and mores, which is what is needed.

The "bounty" is in the form of specified damages you can receive if you bring a suit against the entity that owns the bathroom. So not only is there a bounty, but it's structured in a way that makes progressive institutions (like colleges and universities) foot the bill for not enforcing genitalia checks.

That still requires a little thing called proof, which could be hard to come by.
