Music for a chase?

Advice

Heh. I seem to have difficulty finding music for my planned chase scene.

It happens underground. Any musical suggestions are welcome. Lyrics or not, but lyrics are not preferred unless they refer to running, chasing, being chased, etc.

I'd prefer it to be high tempo and indicating great danger.

Too bad you're not into a humoristic campaign, this one would have been awesome :

Do you need a continuous loop? If not, then about what length? Instrument preferences?

Underground

Another Underground
Danger/Chase
Possibly Faster Feeling Danger/Chase

The soundtracks for both games are really great, and while I could probably reference some really good music that comes from some earlier games, I don't know if that would break the immersion style of your group.

I'd go with the conan soundtrack!

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Rulebook Subscriber

I'd go with this. Its "Night Shift" by Nujabes from the Samurai Champloo music.

I do not need loop or specific length. The game is online, so I send them to a link to the piece that I've uploaded on box.net. They can listen to it looped or once, or not at all.

I don't have instrument preferences. We've had gentle pieces like Jurassic Park's theme and also ones like Where Everybody Knows Your Name from Cheers and Pink's Get This Party Started. Wide range. If it sounds like an exciting chase, I don't mind if they play the triangle or the trombone.

Those who've suggested pieces, thank you very much. I will check them out as soon as I'm on a computer with sound.

Dark Archive

I found the Infamous soundtrack to be great for chase scenes. dumb game, great soundtrack

Naruto Shippuuden OST, Shouryuu

Naruto Shippuuden OST, Kakuzu

Kung Fu Panda OST, The Bridge

Shrek OST, Escape From the Dragon

These are just off the top of my head; if I think of more, I'll post.

It's a little on the short side, but see if you can find the track "Meat for the Beast" from the Nightbreed soundtrack (Danny Elfman).

Grand Lodge

One of my favorite underground pieces would work well for a chase (a bit slower, but very careful).

Delerium: Embodying

Just imagine a dwarf cavern.

Now imagine a drow cavern.

Look up Two Steps From Hell. On their recent release Invincible they have a sequence of music you could loop called "Black Blade" that might be what you're looking for. Actually, several songs can work on that album. . . master of shadows looping into black blade is not bad. . .

The Shrek OST is just Shouryuu again. Not that I mind, I like that piece.

I recommend The Last of the Mohicans - Promontory scene:

It conveys a strong sense of urgency to me.

Ahh, that's a fantastic piece of music. I keep forgetting about that...

If your group can handle it... just...

DO THE MARIO!

:-) These are fantastic. The session was two weeks ago, so it is a little late, but I will keep these in mind for the future.

The party had to flee a Colossal Shoggoth while the cavern was falling apart around them.

I was beaten to the punch!

Seems like I was late to the punch with this response but I use this for chases.

Mission Impossible Theme!

Sczarni

William Tell Overture.

Old thread is old! But I'll add my say in anyway, because I'm nosy like that.

I like the Assassin's Creed soundtracks for chases and the like, but there's also one of the tracks on the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack called Oraculum (included with the 6 track sampler from Reznor's website) that is, as of this thread, stuck in my head and supremely apt.

iron maiden -run to the hills?

That's exactly what I expected!

Sczarni

Use the Mentos song.

I also saw the title, and immediately thought of "Yakety Sax." I guess I watched way too much Benny Hill when I was younger.

RUN! I always think of that music when it comes to a chase. Old school and has sort of a toony feel to it, so it might not be great for a Pathfinder chase... but still not a bad choice. :)

Here's another one with less of a toony feel. And yes, I played lots of Final Fantasy growing up and have a biased nostalgic stamp imbedded in my soul. :p

Benny Hill.

Scobby Do any episode 13 minutes in chase scene. Use their music.

The soundtrack from 28 Days Later should keep you sorted.
