SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
Adaptability (Ex) Half-elves receive Skill Focus as a bonus feat at 1st level.

Anatomist You have studied the workings of anatomy, either as a student at university or as an apprentice mortician or necromancer. You gain a +1 trait bonus on all rolls made to confirm critical hits.

Armor Training (Ex) You are more maneuverable while wearing armor. Whenever you are wearing armor, you reduce the armor check penalty by 1 and increase the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed by your armor by +1

Bonus Feats At 1st level, and at every even level thereafter, a fighter gains a bonus feat in addition to those gained from normal advancement (meaning that the fighter gains a feat at every level). These bonus feats must be selected from those listed as combat feats, sometimes also called "fighter bonus feats." Upon reaching 4th level, and every four levels thereafter (8th, 12th, and so on), a fighter can choose to learn a new bonus feat in place of a bonus feat he has already learned. In effect, the fighter loses the bonus feat in exchange for the new one. The old feat cannot be one that was used as a prerequisite for another feat, prestige class, or other ability. A fighter can only change one feat at any given level and must choose whether or not to swap the feat at the time he gains a new bonus feat for the level.

Bravery (Ex) You gain a +1 bonus to Will saves against fear effects.

Child of the Streets You grew up on the streets of a large city, and as a result you have developed a knack for picking pockets and hiding small objects on your person. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sleight of Hand checks, and Sleight of Hand is always a class skill for you.

Elf Blood (Ex) Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.

Elven Immunities (Ex) Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Favored Terrain (Underground) (Ex) You gain a +2 bonus on Knowledge (Geography), Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks when using these skills in underground terrain (caves and dungeons). Likewise, you get a +2 bonus on initiative checks when in this terrain. If you desire, you leave no trail in this terrain and cannot be tracked.

Hunting Companions (Ex) You form a powerful band with your companions. You may spend a move action to grant half your favored enemy bonus against a single target to all allies within 30 feet who can see or hear you for 1 rounds. This bonus does not stack with any favored enemy bonuses possessed by your allies; they use whichever bonus is higher.

Keen Senses (Ex) Half-elves receive a +2 bonus on Perception skill checks.

Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Multitalented (Ex) Half-elves choose two favored classes at first level and gain +1 hit point or +1 skill point whenever they take a level in either one of those classes.

Track (Ex) You gain +2 to Survival checks made to follow tracks.

Undead (Ex) You gain a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks when using these skills against undead. Likewise, you get a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against such creatures. You may make Knowledge Skill checks untrained to identify such creatures.

Wild Empathy

Wild Empathy (Ex) You can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. You roll 1d20+3 to determine the Wild Empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly. To use Wild Empathy, you and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal circumstances. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but as with influencing people, it might take more or less time. You can use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but you take a -4 penalty on the check.

tnx a Lot !

Looks right to me. I'm not sure how you chose to generate your attributes (looks like 13 point buy?) or hit point totals, and the total value of your magic items seems to be well below recommended wealth for an 8th level player character, but it's all well within the rules. I use pcgen myself, and it's pretty good for the most part. The only common issue is that it often rounds incorrectly when it comes to average hit points, but you don't appear to be using average hit point rules so that's not relevant to you.

That said, I do have a two big concerns with the design of your character: your damage and will saves are abysmally low. Bare minimum as an 8th level character, you should have around 30 damage per round if all your attacks hit (that's before accounting for buffs or crits, by the way), and for will save you want at least a +6. Preferably you want closer to 50 damage and +8 will saves.

To raise your will save, there really aren't too many options that are affordable. Cloak of Resistance is pretty much mandatory so you'll need to lose the Cloak of Elvenkind. You can always use shadow armor (an enchantment that can be added to any suit of armor) if you want a competence stealth bonus. Add on a feat like Iron Will and a trait like Indomitable Faith, and if you can swing it a few more points to wisdom, and you can easily get into a better range.

For damage, more powerful enchantments on your weapons is a very good start, but you're so far behind the expected curve it's not nearly enough to make up the difference. Your options depend on what sourcebooks are available to you. There are some great third party feats for this kind of character, with Piranha Strike from Ultimate Psionics and Deadly Agility from Path of War being particular stand-outs off the top of my head. If that's not available, then Unchained Rogue from Pathfinder Unchained is a good alternative to the Ranger here, and will get you a lot more damage, but unfortunately will lock you into using a single weapon type. Obscure items like the Effortless Lace can be used to dual-wield Rapiers without penalty, but you'll probably be stuck with two short swords or two kukris if you go the unchained rogue route. If you're locking into one weapon-type, then the weapon master archetype for Fighter and the Weapon Specialization feat can be very handy. If you've only got core Pathfinder available, then Power Attack is pretty much the be-all and end-all of melee and every competent melee build needs that feat. That means 13 strength is non-negotiable. Add on weapon specialization, and you should be a little bit better off.

Good luck with your character, hope he ends up being fun to play :-)

I agree with Dasrak, your damage output is extremely low.

Why take double slice? You have no strength bonus. Take weapon specialization instead. Dex that high is not worth if for the sacrifice in will saves. Drop the dex down 2 and spend the points on getting wisdom bumped up, put it to 12, then you can cast a spell also.

As others have said, your dex is far higher then necessary. Get some more wisdom. It will enable you to cast lead blades or gravity bow, as well as other useful 1st level ranger spells.

If your going 4 levels in fighter (not sure why you wouldn't just stick with ranger) then drop double slice. It is doing absolutely nothing for your character unless someone gives you a str boost. Instead get weapon specialization- rapier.

Since your using dual rapiers, find the cash to buy an effortless lace (from Gianthunter's Handbook). It will make the offhand rapier a light weapon, making your attacks -2/-2 instead of -4/-4. That will help your damage.

You have boots of elvenkind (bonus to acrobatics) but no points in acrobatics that I can see. Unless you are specialized for mounted combat, having more then a point or two in ride fairly low priority. I can see having a few points in healing, if your healer gets dropped to negative, nice to be able to help prevent them from bleeding out. I guess your putting points into escape artist for getting out of a grapple. You should probably drop spellcraft entirely.

Why do you have Agile Maneuvers? It only adds to your CMB, not CMD. Without combat expertise and the other associated feats (improved trip, disarm, etc) that feat is doing almost no good what so ever.

High dex, low str martials tend not to do a lot of damage in melee. Unchained rogues and a few feats will let you do dex to damage but I don't know if you want to go down that road.

Your character badly needs dex to damage. That means either agile weapons or 3 levels of unchained rogue. If you gave up 2 weapon fighting you could do fencing grace.

Guys I think he is asking if there are any techincal issues with his sheet. He stated that he was using PCgen so he probably wants to know if the software is reliable not if his character is any good.

I made one of the versions of the paizo board formatted output sheet that pcgen uses - that one looks like it, maybe slightly modified.

If you compare it to a standard output block, they handle where they put things a bit differently in Pccgen then a standard pc stat block, but nothing super important - mostly where they put special attacks vs special qualities, listing things twice, etc. Its all small stuff though, unless your writing for them.

Move is 9m - using sane (i.e. Metric) units are we?

The biggest problems pcgen has are animal companions and spells for newer classes. It always seems to have AC issues.

If you use wizards ever, make sure to populate their spellbooks as you pick spells. It wtll print out the spellbook too.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well thank you guys.

My Intention is/was a high crit double striking Halfelf. In my main Group we are using critical hit and fumbel cards.
So I would get +15 +13 +10 (1d6+1)(15-20/x2), so I get every full round 3x 25 % (+1 to confim; avarage total 33% for cr8) chance of a fumbel card.

Indeed the magic and will saves are realy week points.
The next 3 levels must be rougue.

@nicholas storm: I could not find what you meant with agile weapons.

The Rouge build would get the improved crit at lv 9.

Im replacing Double silce with weapon specialisation.
This build has also a high count of skills for the role playing part. He is very stealthy!
Pcgen does not seam to have Fate's Favored as a trait.

What other weapons would you suggest for a lot of attacks with a high crit chance?

I did what I could do with 33.000GC at lev 8

at cr8 it would mean 15% more crit (Aprox)

Agile - It's a weapon property that lets you add your dex to your damage instead of your strength.

If you're using fumble cards (i.e. never use fumble cards, your GM is a jerk), then you want to attack as little as possible. You want a character that never needs to roll any dice like a witch, buff-centered character, control-oriented wizard, etc. If you're a two-weapon fighting or natural-attack focused character, you basically have a 1/4 chance of fumbling per turn at your level (higher if you're a natural attacker and assuming buffs).

Improved Critical doesn't stack with keen. So having both is pointless. Your crit range is 15-20. Not 12-20. (so this is an error with pcgen)

Being a dex-based fighter you don't want a scroll of enlarge person as it decreases your dex--which lessens your chance to hit (and if you're using agile weapons your damage decreases as well). It does increase your damage die by one step. From a d6 to a d8--meaning your average damage goes up by one--or up by two if you crit. So on average you get 2 damage by dropping your to-hit by 10%.

If you stay as a ranger you keep getting more ranger-goodness. You lose out on two feats--but that's ok. You don't need agile maneuvers because you have no combat maneuver feats so you can drop this one. Endurance is usually only useful to qualify for other feats (unless your GM makes use of nonlethal environment stuff a lot) and anything that would require blindfight can usually be overcome via magic--so drop one of these two and you can be eighth level ranger instead of a 4/4 fighter/ranger.

Keen and Improved Critical are stacking - Confirmed.

Please open a Jira @ jira.pcgen.org, and someone will look at it.

I would but it looks like I'd need to sign up for an account first.

Yup. That is the result of too many a#*%!#+s opening up spam accounts to propagate their spam. It was completely open for a while till one of the head monkeys finally had enough.

I know this is further off topic, but is there way to just implement a "I'm not a robot" check, or is that too easily circumvent-able now? (or does Atlassian not have a way for groups to do that?)

Not that I am aware of. The site is run by the folks who code/own Jira, not the PCGen group. We are just users.

However, I did find several Closed Jira Code requests for this. Currently it is not possible (at least not easily) to fix this issue. It looks like we are waiting for a major code re-write in the formula code (I think) to handle this.

I guess you guys are right.

I thought that I found a nice way to get some more action. Sadly there is no way, crit to stack!
Multi cassing does not work as I have expectet it. If someone wants a mix of them classes they better take some from the advanced players guid or other Books!
