Illegal PF downloads found

I was using Google last night to try and find information on Golarion that might exist outside the Wiki. I ran across a website that has scores (hundreds?) of PDFs for free download for dozens of different game systems and settings, including many PF products (GameMastery Modules, maybe the first three APs, the PCCS, Guide to Korsova and some others...)

I won't post the URL here, lest any fine upstanding citizens be unreasonably tempted.

Who (at what off-board email address) needs to know about this?

Paizo Employee Director of Brand Strategy

Probably Vic. vic.wertz@paizo.com

Paizo Employee Director of Sales

Thank you for the tip!

Vic is, indeed, the one to notify.

(I've pointed this thread out to him)

Okay, it's done.

A private E-mail would have been a better option, imo.

Problem being, pirate sites have more lives than Captain Jack.

Yep. Sadly, once they are in the ether, it is easier to exterminate cockroaches then to make the files disappear. Just ask the music industry.

He didn't post a link, and while staff e-mail addresses are all formatted similiarly, if he didn't know.. he did the best he could.

Actually, I think its good to see this sort of thread. It reminds people that Paizo IS protecting their copyright and that pirate sites will be dealt with...harshly.

What's that I hear? Yes, the sound of a score of lawyers sharpening knives. Yep that's it. Unmistakable, tell you... *shivers*

When the (copy)cat is out of the bag, you can't get it back in, not with all the king's horses.

and given the number of lawyers on this site I can see a lot of them mentally calculating damages now

Keep in mind that Paizo will probably only have a chance in shutting down any kind of warez site if it's under US jurisdiction. If their servers are on a remote island somewhere in the South Pacific, it becomes more difficult to actually enforce US copyright law. International cooperation in this field of law is somewhat limited, even if international agreements on intellectual property exist.

Still, it's good to make things such as this public.
