Ah,
WATAGAIDKWIM*
Aside, anyone getting Xtreme X-men? You have a gay James Howlett (called Gaverine on some forums) and Hercules. It's been pretty funny.
Oh, and there might be romance between 616-Allison Blair and a black civil war Scott Summers (Blaclops?)

Hey Gang,
Thanks for the enthusiastic response to Pathfinder #5!
I've just put up a blog post with some more of my thoughts on the issue and the inclusive Pathfinder game setting.
Please give it a read and share:
The Inclusive Fantasy World of Pathfinder

I think I missed the announcement of the trans* iconic? When/where was it revealed that one was trans*? Because it would make my millennium if I could truly identify with one of the iconics...

Just read issue 5 last night, great stuff! I really liked the background highlights for the iconics and the subtle suprise in Kyra's flashback (She's still my 2nd favorite iconic!). Between that and the other story bits about the party I had a better idea of the characters "whole person concept". Hoping this series has a long run.

I know Kyra is right handed by the art. Selyiel is hard to tell. Both as the iconic magus and the iconic EK he's holding his sword in his left hand, but he's casting with his right. So it's unclear. I know when I picture a caster casting, he casts with his dominant hand
(Aside, apparently they flipped the art with Valeros, he holds his long sword in his right hand in the art, but left in the mini.)

We've said for some time that there's at least two gay iconics (one male, one female), one bisexual iconic, and one trans iconic. There could well be more. But until the time is right and appropriate we had no plans to reveal that.
The comic is the right place to reveal those things; we've now revealed Kyra is gay and heavily implied that Merisiel is bisexual. More revelations about the iconics will come along in the years to come, maybe or maybe not in this or another comic, maybe or maybe not in an entirely different medium. The time has to be right is all.

Part of the reason Pathfinder doesn't bother with handedness is because we often end up having to mirror art in order to make it look good on a page, which changes what hand a character favors in many cases, of course... ;-)

Believe it or not, handedness is actually a much trickier issue for us than sexuality, because art often gets flipped in order to fit better on a page, which changes which hand holds the weapon. So we'll all just have to assume there are some lefties in there, then turn a blind eye to the matter...

Why is sexuality important in a fantasy roleplaying game? It seems this thread was made to push people's buttons, and if you need to have homosexuals in your d&d game you can do so without making a big pointless thread about it.
Because love and romance tend a play a big part in fantasy. They're often involved in motivations for heroes and villains.
I suppose you could have a game and a setting without any mention of sexuality, but that would involve never mentioning couples or parents or pretty much anything besides monsters and loot. Sounds boring to me.

Oh, I understand. It does strike me as strange the entire "I can't identify with X because it doesn't have me in it." I can identify with Kyra just fine (even before I found out we both like girls), or Ezren or PAthfinder w/o needing a leftie iconic. But we *are* 10% of the population, roughly.

Kind of off topic.
While I don't agree with the need to have someone you relate to to enjoy a story, I *do* like having them as a way of crossing the media. I've been trying to get the girls into reading comics, and suggested Secret Six. Both because I have 'em all, and because Amber's a bit 'butch' and I think she'd enjoy reading Scandal and Liana.
Edit: Fixed! Thanks Cori

You mean Secret Six? Sinister Six is another company entirely

Because sexuality is a part of humanity, and roleplaying games are about playing different characters—aka exploring humanity.

As a side note, all these posts are displaying nicely in holographic Dabus now that I've upgraded the SubEtha box to the latest service pack.
Well, everyones' posts but Matt's, whose posts still oddly display from right to left.

I think it's the most surreal thing I've thought of since Eat Your Own Clone Day.
I've seen him ninja'ing about, but he seems to spend most of his time sneaking into bioengineers' houses with his stuffed tiger and planting subliminal recordings encouraging research into cloning dinosaurs.

Did he steal my ninja jammies AGAIN? -.-

Why is gay and gender bending now the end all be all of "diversity" ? None are fat, none are dyslexic, none profess unusual religion, nothing ever seams to need or get attention except sexuality/gender. It honestly reminds me a little of the blaxploitation craze. Yet so much other diversity goes ignored. in all walks of life.
