Why would they update the cover of a pocket edition of an old book? Or give previews for it?

Oh, so that's what a natural 1 on a Sense Motive check looks like.

Is the price really right?

I can understand that the Core Rulebook PE has to be $25, but $5 more for 64 pages more (than the other pocket editions) seems a little too much for me.

Bad enough that the old hardcover(s) has/have gone up in price $5, but if the pocket editions start going up, i won´t buy them anymore.

I thought you only buy pdf´s nowadays and don´t want any more "dead trees".

Besides, don´t you have this book already? ;-)

Ah, Germans and their immunity to irony, sarcasm and other indirect figures of speech.

Page count isn't the only consideration in pricing books. The expected sales and the assumed ROI are as important.

Dark Archive

That's absolutely right.

But if the Gamemastery Guide PE, which will probably be bought in a maximum number of one per gaming round, is $19.99, why should a book which every single player plus the GM needs expected to sell less copies?

Maybe this book is priced higher to compensate the expected lower sales of the GM Guide PE?

I intended to buy 2-3 of these so everyone could shop at the same time, but that was with an expected price of $20, not $25.

I know that the measurements in Pathfinder are forever married to the counter-intuitive, backwards and outdated Imperial system, but can we few non-Americans have a bone thrown at us with the dimensions and weights of pocket editions listed in those crazy centimetres and grams we use?

I just took measurements of the four released pocket editions:

Height 21,5 cm
Breadth 16,5 cm

Thickness differs from roughly 1,7 cm (GM Guide 320 pages, Bestiary 328 pages & APG 336 pages) to 2,8 cm (CRB 576 pages).

The UE has 400 pages, so it should be around 2 cm thick.

Us crazy Germans and our thoroughness.

A-ha! Marco manifestly isn't Prussian then. He must hail from one of those regions of Germany which were influenced by ... less disciplined cultures. Rheinland, perhaps?

Yeah, this is kind of my most eagerly awaited Paizo product in a while. UE finds massive use at my table AND my hardcover is the first printing. Win-win with the Chibi Edition!

In German, the Gamemastery Guide weighs 561g.

The Core Rulebook weighs 990g.

Or, in not-terribly-precise Australian: "not much" and "aw yeah, a bit"

Hey, you can only bump threads with a "ME WANTS" few times...

I know it's too late to influence this book, but I'm really hoping they add items to revamp how boosting unarmed attacks work.

Amulet of Mighty Fists is:

- Expensive
- Restricted to +5 without the ability to gain other mods
- Takes up the slot for a basic magic item staple (Amulet of Natural Armor)
- Also enhances natural attacks which drives its cost too high for unarmed dudes, avoidably

Here's hoping we finally see something like this printed:

Runed Handwraps
Aura: Faint evocation; CL: 5th; Slot: Hands; Price: 3,250 gp (+1), 13,000 gp (+2), 29,250 gp (+3), 52,000 gp (+4), 81,250 gp (+5), 117,000 gp (+6), 159,250 (+7), 208,000 (+8), 263,250 (+9), 325,000 (+10); Weight
DESCRIPTION
When a pair of runed handwraps is worn, they grant an enhancement bonus of +1 to +5 on attack and damage rolls with unarmed attacks, regardless of the appendage used to make that attack.

This enhancement does not apply to additional attacks granted by two-weapon fighting, or by feats with Two-Weapon Fighting as a prerequisite. However, it applies to additional attacks granted by other sources, such as haste, Flurry of Blows, Brawler’s Flurry or Medusa’s Wrath.

Alternatively, these handwraps can grant melee weapon special abilities, so long as they can be applied to unarmed attacks. Special abilities count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of the item, but do not modify attack or damage bonuses. A pair of runed handwraps must have an enhancement bonus of at least +1 before special abilities can be added to it. A pair of runed handwraps cannot have a modified bonus (enhancement bonus plus special ability bonus equivalents) higher than +10.

CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
Feats Craft Wondrous Item; Spells greater magic fang; Special creator’s caster level must be at least three times the handwraps’ bonus, plus any requirements of the melee weapon special abilities; Cost 1,625 gp (+1), 6,500 gp (+2), 14,625 gp (+3), 26,000 gp (+4), 40,625 gp (+5), 58,500 gp (+6), 79,625 (+7), 104,000 (+8), 131,625 (+9), 162,500 (+10)

I'm pretty sure that designers are looking for inspirations in a thread that's about a pocket reprint of a book ;)

Anyway, now that the previews are behind us and all secrets are laid bare, it's time to enter the state of catatonic fear that for some reason, this book won't be ever released.

You can find inspiration in the strangest of places.

Are we there yet? Or maybe this is all an illusion and this book won't come into being? Is there anything left certain and sure in this shattered reality?

It's not listed in the October new release thread... maybe the shipment is delayed?

Well, I got my authorisation email for October and it is part of the order! YAY!
