A new hydrokineticist question: I have a player with a 5th level hydrokineticist who wants to know how large a craft he could move upstream, using basic hydrokinesis. PC has a Con of 18.

That's supposed to be 'some'....stupid autocorrect.

To save me some time checking my copy -- which pages are faint in your copy?

p 232
p 249
p 252-3

I guess as long as their allies are alive, they fight to the death?

There is no such box on the chronicle. The other special box referenced in the paragraph does exist on the Chronicle.

P 19 the info about the Warriors morale seems to be missing a line, possibly covered by resources box. When do they flee?

Question regarding "Living Shield" Talent: Do grapple penalties to AC apply if the grapple fails?

Question regarding Warlock vigilante spell list, is it just the list from the Core rulebook or does it include sorcerer/wizard spells from other (PFS legal) source?

Northern Lights will be joining your settlement. Well, me at least, assuming you approve my application. I have informed my fellow Northern Lights company members. But, I have no direct control on which settlement to join, or indeed if they do so at all.

Welcome from me, too.

It would be reasonable to say that high tier, both sides of the chasm are 100 feet, right? Instead of 70 feet on one side and 100 on the other.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

I finally found them. Luckily, there was no major impact to the game. But boy, did I feel dim.

Where are pipes of terror? I've been looking all over and can't find them.

Just an FYI, if the wight hits, he gives a negative level each time. The save is done 24 hours later to try and remove the temporary negative level and it becomes permanent on a failed save.

Very late reply, sorry. He only got hit once and he did the save 24 hours later, so no permanent damage.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

Thanks. That's what I thought but I had someone tell me I should be using the stats from the adventure.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

Do I use the stats in the adventure, or the ones in Bestiary 3?

Shadow Lodge 2/5

And here's a nice stupid question. What does Riddywhipple look like? It's been 6 months since I played the scenario & I finally qualified to convince him to be my familiar, so I no longer remember. And he is a 'he', isn't he? Or is he a she?

I want to make sure I have a good description of him.

Addendum: since I only just bonded with him, do I apply Animal Archives or not?

My suggestion is similar to one already provided. Make the adventures levels 2, 5, 8, 11 and people can play the adventure if they are one level off. This means one set of monsters/traps no varying dcs. Plus 12th level characters would have more to choose from.

And the suggestion from the podcast is just like what we played in RPGA. And I don't miss it AT ALL. If there really is a need to prevent this problem then this one is pretty good.

Frankly, the only time I've seen someone playing up or down like this, is to make sure the game makes and to make sure everyone has fun. I think the very best option is to leave it as is.

Is there a offical rule on what items a animal companion can use for PFS or is this up to the GM.

What about mundane items? For example: animal companion dog or wolf wearing saddle bags (there may be a trick required)? Familiar monkey with a backpack? Familiar fox with saddle bags?

Does it follow the same rules as magic items (barding/neck/or specifically for that animal only)?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I ran Accursed Halls on New Year's Day for 4 players; a Ranger 1, Paladin 2, Saurian Shaman 1, & Cavalier 2.

With the big halls, the cavalier was able to ride through most of the adventure. I took a PC down to single digits at least twice and managed to tag the paladin with the wight but he made his save and didn't get a negative level. However, thanks to the stirges they did get a chance to really tour the town while the ranger recovered her 7 Constitution damage.

On the funny side, the cavalier had a We Be Goblins cert and bluffed their way up to the goblin dice game so they got into melee range before the goblins realized something was wrong. One got away and there was a chase through that narrow tunnel with just enough time for Murgmo and the other goblins to try an ambush. The cavalier tried to bluff the goblins again but Murgmo did not fall for it (I rolled a 20 on her sense motive, allowing her to beat his bluff score by 5).

The ranger's riding dog and the druid's stegosaurus made a huge difference. I almost killed the dog twice (the druid healed him more than the rest of the party).

ETA: edited for clarity

Ah well. Maybe I'll be able to draw the maps ahead of time.

Thank you.

For the quasi-clueless, which Venture Captain is closest to Thornkeep and likely to be the one sending Pathfinders to investigate?

I'm running Accursed Halls on Tuesday (too soon for me to have the flipmats *sob*) and I want to have my ducks in a row before I go away for the weekend.

Can someone help out a 'blind' woman? I found the PFS rules for The Midnight Mirror but all it had was the Chronicle. Is that it? The previous ones I've run have had notes about using the module in Society play and a tracking sheet.

Never mind, it's in the organized play guide

There is no "player faction." You choose factions for your characters, not for yourself. If you've possibly made a mistake during the registration of your character on this website and assigned them the wrong faction, that's something we can fix. Let me know!

I made a mistake during character registration. Renshalla (my 1st character) is supposed to be Qadiran instead of Andoren. JenJen _is_ Andoren, so she's fine.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

And what do you do if you entered your faction instead of the character's faction? My leaning is Andoren but my first character is Qadiran. After a home game, the gm noticed that my character is listed as Andoren. Whoops. Is there a way to change this or have I done something truly unfortunate?

Can you tell that I much prefer to look for similar question/discussion to piggyback instead of starting a new thread?

Look at the description of the Pounce ability in the Bestiary:

"Pounce (Ex) When a creature with this special attack makes a charge, it can make a full attack (including rake attacks if the creature also has the rake ability).

Format: pounce; Location: Special Attacks."

Okay, when the tiger gets pounce, he'll also be able to rake when he does so.

I'll now show off my ignorance; since the tiger doesn't have hands, which attack is his 'grapple'? Is it when he manages to bite? When he lands both claws? Is it a completely separate attack using the grapple rules? When/if it does grapple, does the tiger rake in the same round or on the next action?

However, he doesn't get grapple until 7th level. So how does he rake?

Am I reading something wrong? Should he have grab instead?

So, no answer? Buehler? Buehler?

Shadow Lodge

I think I understand, but I want to clarify.

I've chosen a tiger for my 1st level druid's animal companion. Tiger in the Bestiary has bite (damage plus grab) & claw (damage plus grab). The base tiger animal companion does not have grab, but does have rake. Rake does not apply unless grapple has succeeded (with bite or both claws).

So for my animal companion to rake, it must hit with bite or both claws & then next round make a grapple attack?
