Our group has played many games over the last 5+ years, and for the most part we have played together. Some people have come, gone, and others have been flayed horribly (one even joined and was swallowed by a giant worm almost immediately).
We're currently have just started a new game (LINK), after completing a short prequel on the same thread, that is starting as level 0 children with the intent of going to level 20.
Some fresh blood might be nice, and with that in mind we're opening recruitment to consider another player, or perhaps two if the four of us are unanimous in the decision.
What are you getting into?
- One post per day minimum 7 days per week. Sometimes life gets in the way (hopefully not that often or a troll will eat your face), and this is no problem if you let the DM know ahead of time, so everyone isn't standing around waiting on you
- Commitment to the long haul. 5+ years together, and this group has been together for the majority of it. None of us will simply disappear on you
- We are rotating through DMs for this game with one running the level 0 characters, then the next tagging off to run levels 1-5, and so on. We would want you in the rotation probably as the 3rd or 4th DM
- Roleplay focused. We're not looking just for a reaction to what's going on, but a dynamic character with personality (some great advice here from Painlord: LINK)
- Decent writing skills and the ability to wander through their posts looking for glaring mistakes. Not expecting perfection, just a quick spell check and read over
- A focus on fun! We're here for that after all. So we're hoping to get along and share a giggle
World Information and Characters: LINK
- Paizo sources
- Alignments: Any, as is my norm these concepts are a device to flesh out the character and not manacles that dictate all behaviour. Some of the nicest people occasionally do bad things.
- Experience: does not exist in the traditional sense, the group all levels at the same point at the whim of the individual DM
- 43 point buy, no score below 10 (for serious, these are epic heroes of legend we are crafting)
- Traits: 2
- Drawbacks: please take 2 from the following list: Drawbacks
- Races: Any up to 14 RP, or should you wish to craft your own race you have up to 11 RP to make one (Creating New Races) and will need to pen a full write-up describing all manner of aspects of the race you have created (example of racial write-up Alman Race)
- Classes: All available (minus classes that are more modern like gunslinger)
- Starting gold: none, you are a street urchin
- Equipment: you have one prized possession from your family up to a 36gp value
- Maximum hit points at all levels
- You're making a character that can get along with the other players, and has reasons to adventure and join this specific group. Our group rarely has prolonged tension between members, and never does an argument fall into a true battle or PVP
- Hero points are active, you start with 1
- Rolls will be done as normal in the game thread by the players and DM alike (unless the DM is being sneaksie pants)
- Myth-Weavers as usual for character sheets
- House Rule: Mana system is live. e.g. If you can cast 4x first level spells and 3x second level spells, you have 10 mana total, which can be used in any combination you wish.
- House Rule: Magical and masterwork armour only has Armour Check Penalties based on weight, DEX limits and arcane penalties remain as normal
- Gods: Using Pathfinder deities
- You start alone, not knowing any other character
- World: Sel Torin
- Notes: Humans are dominant both in numbers (over 85% of the population) and influence (every major city is controlled by them), other races are treated as second-class citizens or much worse the more monstrous they look, arcane casters live in fear for their lives, all worship of evil deities has been outlawed, human armies march upon their neighbours perpetrating unspeakable atrocities on those that stand in their way
- Background: You are the unwashed, desperately clinging to life in the gutters of whatever city the fates have cast you. Clutched in your tiny child hands is the only remnant of your family. Your bones ride against your scarred skin beneath the rags that wrap around you, speaking to a short lifetime of poverty, disease, malnutrition, and an existence constantly on the run from those that would perpetrate against you for your meagre scraps of food, meting out beatings, slavery, and worse
- You each start as a level 0 child/immature specimen of your race (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/simple-templat e-young-cr-1)
If chosen, please complete the following exercise for your character, but do not share it. This is to help flesh your character out for play. It is something we have only done for this game, as our goal is longevity, and each of us has seen benefit in the exercise.
Throw any questions you might have out, and one of us will field them.
Welcome

Welcome Dorian.
Hello,
I am attempting to read--and comprehend--the background stuff.
I assume first level, pathfinder, point buy? Any class/race restrictions?
I have a character concept in mind. Do you want the basics?
I have decided race, but torn between a couple of classes. And what is the character sheet formatting?
Thank yee
Ps. I am in Michigan, so Eastern Standard Time.
Hello all,
I have played in many PbP games the pass 2 years.
I am currently in a RotRL game only, although I do play F2F PFS games weekly.
I am interested in joining a new PbP group. I have been attempting to grasp all your information. Please be patient...lol. And thank yee.
It is a lot to digest indeed. Verbosity is a curse that I have been afflicted since I ran afoul of that witch.
Our little merry band had hopped around to a few different games over the years, from D&D 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (for like a second), Pathfinder, EverQuest, Shadowrun, and a few others. Our norm is to craft campaigns from scratch using different campaign settings, Forgotten Realms was one of the longest ones we used. Currently we're starting with a newly minted world: Sel Torin.
I was reading through your campaign stuff. I was thinking dhampir warpriest [sacred fist]. He would be a follower of Irori. He would have the knowledge and law blessings. He grew up in the streets of a big city. His go to place for food and comfort was at a monastery of Irori.
Not completely sold on sacred fist, and may just go brawler, but I like the divine aspect of it..
A dhampir sounds like an amazing addition to the team. It's a human-centric world where everyone else is a second-class citizen (at best), so of course to a man we all picked outcasts. A dhampir has a lot in common with the group , especially since all but one character has darkvision (mine), and one other character has sensitivity to light (mine).
The group currently has a rogue, slayer, and two wizards (one remaining wizard the whole way, and the other planning to delve into mystic theurge), so a hybrid divine spell caster would be a great addition (our slayer will need your services the most, but he's a zealot, so giggles are likely to ensue there).
/opens the floor to the others to chime in

Glad to see another Michigander in the group, as both EJB and myself reside in this lovely state (Ann Arbor area).
I'm not sure if Loki fired over the link already, but we use Myth-Weavers for the main character sheet. If you want to make a character profile page once you get up and running that's groovy.
I would say that we are a very role-playing heavy group, hence the start at 8 years old, we enjoy us some development, lol.
Giving the lifespan of the Dhampire (similar to elves) I might do a little tinkering to make the age thing work. Also, I have no problems with a half-dead person in the party, more fun times, plus they look pretty close to humans, so that's helpful. I think I'm playing the only race that is very nonhuman out of the gate (Dragonkin).
I generally try to post in the morning after I get out of work, and am usually available for chatting/private messages/or returning posts until noon-1 ish. Some days I'm up much later, insomnia is fun like that :P

Thank you for responding. I appreciate the invite. I have been gaming(one form or another), since age 9, so I have experience. I also enjoy good PbP, because the role-playing part is highlighted.
Was considering negative channels, but I could go positive, if the group prefers.
I am not sold on warpriest(especially sacred fist), so please allow me some serious thinking...lol.
I have a live PFS game in a bit, but I will post some ideas tonight or tomorrow after work.

There's a CoC quote in the title of this thread, which everyone seems to be ignoring, or atleast not referencing/adressing. This somehow worries me a little.
Very perceptive of you to notice.
The horror-themed game we played as a prequel to this one was heavily influenced by Lovecraft. It did not end well for the players, who are each relegated to horrors unimaginable for all eternity.
"You will fall, trapped here in this lightless place forever. The denizens will feed on your bodies for eternity, leaving you screaming and cursing until centuries hence madness will steal your every waking thought."
We are playing in the same world, and though the nightmares have turned their dispassionate eyes elsewhere that is always in the back of our minds. As is shown by the self-crafted campaign setting, which starts with:
"There was a time when mankind knew not of the gods, or things beyond the mortal ken, as the gods had long since turned their backs upon mankind. Mankind, in their arrogance saw themselves as unto gods. The ancient gods revealed themselves and ruled for millennia, but in-fighting made them blind. This complacency was their downfall, for things who witnessed the birth of time itself, had gazed down upon the ancient gods with indifference and cruelty. These "Dark Ones" slaughtered the ancient gods and brought fire and ice to ravage the world of man. The current pantheon holds sway over the few that have survived, impersonally demanding that temples be erected in their honour through their revelations alone, unaware that they too are being watched with indifference and cruelty."
The description also is Lovecraftian: "We each dwell upon an island forged by our ignorance amidst the black seas of infinity. Should your feeble mind correlate the seemingly disassociated contents of your skull, thus affording you an opportunity to leave your island behind, terrifying vistas of reality will entomb you and you will never know peace."
All hail Cthulhu!

Ok, I built him on myth-weavers.
I still need to pick feats, traits, and drawbacks.
Wouldn't that end up being 4 traits total then?

Hello!
I've only been doing PbP in this sense for a couple of years, but I've been roleplay ing online for about eight years and I've got about 13 years of tabletop roleplaying experience. I am also on EST.
That bit of an introduction out of the way, I have THE character idea (for me). I'd actually be writing part of her story as we go since her childhood was already written to be precisely how you've described we would be starting.
I'll get together what I mean soon. Just to be clear though; are you still looking for someone?
