Hi everyone. Sorry for the delay (again). Real life can get in the way of fun sometimes.
In other news, my local group stormed the elven keep in Kingmaker last night. My now 6th level aasimar druid continued her run of not having taken a single hit point of damage--although she only joined at 4th level at the beginning of Rivers Run Red.
I won't say any more in case some of you haven't played through Kingmaker and don't want to read spoilers. : )

elven keep in Kingmaker
One of my favorite things about Pathfinder APs is hearing people talk about things, recognizing that it's custom content and then hearing them mention "spoilers". Let me assure you that if you talk about the elven keep you won't be spoiling anything that's actually in the Kingmaker adventure path. : )

He doesn't have the Kingmaker books?

More than likely he's not reading the adventure as they play it, no, and he probably didn't read it before he played it so his gateway into the game is... his DM.
This happens a lot on the forums. "My favorite NPC was this and this" or "This and this was an awesome event" where this-and-this isn't in the source material at all. It's just awesome to hear about how almost every DM diverts from the books at some points and most of them do it so convincingly that their players think it's part of the module-as-written. I think it's amazing. I wish I could compile a wikipedia of each GM's personal changes to each Paizo module, because it'd be a huge wiki full of a lot of amazing stuff.

Heh...I didn't mean a keep full of elves--to get specific I meant the keep that was of elven construction, that

That would be freakin awesome.
Hmm...

Hah, this might be true for my campaign as well. Even though I've actually followed most of Serpent's Skull books fairly closely, I had to come up with some things to make book 3 more interesting because the thing is fairly thin on content...
Because of all this, I had fighting the Red Mantis be a big focus of book three. In the end the Red Mantis faction leader got a hold of an artifact sword called 'The Mantis Blade' and went after the party with it. They had to use hero points to avoid dieing, lol.
Yea, having two-weapon fighting, 6d6 sneak attack, and a sword that can cast Deeper Darkness, Improved Invisibility, and Dimension Door using its own actions is nasty... they're just lucky that the Red Mantis in Serpent's Skull might as well be called the Red Mantis' rejects.
It was fun pulling together a minor plot point or two and combining them to make something bigger that wasn't even in the books, lol.

Nah, it's fine so far. However, I run on the basis that there is a visual manifestation that you are using the power, so beware of using it too often on random people. Unless they pass some kind of check (probably Spellcraft, maybe Sense Motive for those without Spellcraft ranks) they won't know what you're doing...but they'll be aware that you're doing something, and that might be enough to tick some people off.

Is the visual manifestation glowing eyes? I totally need to use that as a part of my intimidation at some point ;)
Septimus Smythe |
I'll file a "Septimus in the basement" post soon. Can't wait to have a reason to get Septimus in front of Grimburrow, the old jerk.
In the meantime, just wanted to point out that the girls singing a song about mass murderers while jumping rope is such a great detail. Speaking as we are of modifications, not sure if you came up with that or it was in the AP, but nicely placed regardless.
cynarion |
That one's straight out of the AP, but the girls sing in Varisian rather than Taldane. One of my pet peeves is having words from another language suddenly rhyme in English, so I ditched the Varisian bit but kept the rhyme. It's pretty neat. : )
###
As for Grimburrow, I have a history of turning what were originally quite likeable characters into jerks when I run precreated adventures. My players loathed the two main NPCs from the Mutants & Masterminds campaign I ran a few years ago, almost to the point where the whole scenario imploded. : s

In other news, I won't be posting again until late Sunday Aussie time at the earliest. Off to the rugby this evening, Oz Comic Con on Saturday, and birthday lunch with the mother-in-law on Sunday. Have fun without me! ; )

As for the weather, it's plenty cool here in Melbourne. Feel free to come over if you need some relief. ; )
Are you paying our plane tickets?
Heck no. I can barely fund my Pathfinder addiction as it is. : þ

I suppose the tools could have belonged to someone else, now that you mention it...Lem Longbarrow wrote:Iona's eyes narrow. What makes you think she was a craftswoman?Lem thinks for a moment, recalling the vision he saw in the prison.
She was young, Varisian, perhaps a woodworker. She wasn't necessarily a prisoner, perhaps a victim? She had long brown hair and wore a choker with a large red stone around her neck. Does any of this sound familiar? I confess, I don't know where to begin searching.
Iona taps a finger to her chin thoughtfully. Tell me what you know about the fire, then, she says.
Presuming you relate what you did in this post, Iona straightens up in her chair.
This Quentyn had the right of it, she says when Lem is finished, although I'm not sure he had the cause of the fire right; the way I understand it, the fire started when some of the guards left upstairs panicked and set a fire in the lift shaft, which the prisoners were trying to climb up.
And what do you know of ghosts, then?
(In other words, make a Knowledge (religion) check.)

Ohh, I didn't realize Theron was right here. And here I thought that this was Walter going crazy and talking to imaginary people ;)
*thinks* Refresh my memory... has Walter mentioned Vesmera to anyone else? Just trying to determine if Theron would have even known about her before now.

Thank you. Thank you. I'm here all week folks. Try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitress.
;p
FWIW, that line started out as "And I wouldn't know the difference between alchemy and prophecy if I bedded them both" but with Kendra there, I figured ol' Rath would be more circumspect in his comments.

I know Walter mentioned Vesmera's name to Dragomir the night the bloody V appeared on the monument. You may all have seen him talking to Vesmera that night.
Whether anyone else knows her name? Not sure.
Does anyone else know of the potential romance? Don't think so.

Going to post soon, just pondering Theron's reaction to that 'song' from earlier. As a player I have an idea of what his happening here, but the question is how much would Theron figure out with just his inquisitor super-sense-motive?
*ponders* At the very least he's going to be raising an eyebrow at the mention of stirges.

Just giving you a heads-up that at the end of this month (July 31), I'll be leaving town for two weeks for work. I don't know the status of an available internet connection while I'll be gone, or how much free time I'll have, but I'll post as able.
After that, I'll only be back for a day before heading to Gencon afterwards, getting back home late the 19th. So between those two dates I'll be sporadic at best, possibly unavailable. Sorry for any inconveniences this may impose.
