Oooh, interested! I've got a paladin/sorcerer concept that I think would be great to try out if you're still open for new players. Human or possibly Aasimar if allowed. I plan to play him as a paladin who sees his role as one of setting an example for others rather than militantly enforcing his notion of "how to be good" on the world. Having received martial training in his home village of Styrion, close to Sandy point, he has now ventured in to the "Big City" to study at the temple...

let me know your thoughts and I'll flesh him out more

Abrar, recruiting is open until the 5th, so feel free to expand on your concept.

For your consideration:

Eugeni Serius.

Background is fleshed out, if this seems like a good candidate I will complete the crunch numbers etc.

OK - back as promised with my rogue/assassin character for your consideration:

Corvus Raaf:
From an early age, Corvus was destined for life as a priest. Pious as a child, she was fortunate enough to be noticed by an abbot that was on his way to take charge of a monastery. The abbot convinced Corvus' parents to release her to his keeping - as she was no doubt destined to join the Order of the Keeping.

Alas, the abbot was not virtuous and groomed the young Corvus - as he did with many pretty young girls he had convinced families to hand over to the church.

Corvus knew the teachings of the church were not congruous with how she was being treated - and when a new young girl was brought to the monastery and was abused by the abbot, Corvus saw this as a test of her faith.

She considered her beliefs and decided that the acts occurring at the monastery were not appropriate and she confronted the abbot. He laughed at her; then beat her and promised to rape her. She picked up a nearby candlestick and calmly bludgeoned him to death.

Corvus knew her version of events would not be believed but she also refused to turn her back on her deity. Once more, she faced a moral dilemma. Deciding to act in a selfless way and believing it was her duty to protect others, she took up the role of a virtuous avenger.

Running from the monastery, she looked for wrongs to right when others would turn a blind eye. This led to a life as a vigilante assassin. When those who transgressed were above the law, she saw that justice was done.

Many people would pigeon-hole Corvus as a rogue, but she sees herself more as a stealthy assassin, and has tried to develop her skills that way. She takes on contracts that require someone to be eliminated - but she never seeks payment. Her lack of strength means she always plans to get close to her victim and will use stealth or her charisma to achieve that 'kill.'

As young women go, Corvus is tall and thin. With her tendency to dress in shades of grey and with her pale skin, long, straight dark hair and pale grey eyes; she looks gaunt and at times almost ill.

She may not be strong, but she is agile and uses this to compensate when others underestimate her abilities. She's smart and also charming when it suits her. She'll never lose that desire to right wrongs, but experience has taught her that she can help no-one from the inside of a jail cell.

22 so far, you all are not going to make this easy, lots of cool ideas!
I appreciate the interest.

I submit to you 3 barebones concepts to gauge your interest.

Katarina:

Katarina is a rogue/ninja who, after a brush with shadow magic, seeks the path of shadowdancer.

Karthus:

Karthus is an undead lord cleric that's lawful neutral. His ultimate goal is to become a lich. He is a naturally good person with some evil abilities, hence neutral. Also, his end goal is more to transcend death and the burden of flesh than anything.

Venser:

Venser is a staff master magus, as I love quarterstaves. 'Nuff said I think.

It's definitely a tough choice for choosing parties for the APs. They tend to be popular games.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 4

Ok, Khrondak's profile is 100% complete.

If you like this character, I can de-level him back to 1st for your game as the game he was in has been discontinued.

Bob Evil here, ready to submit. Click on the character name for Miera Kespin's full sheet, background, and appearance.

Picked up the Anniversary edition at the FLGS. Looks like it was worth it over the original modules.

Good evening Valkur!

My submission for your Rise of the Runelords pbp is Akrem Stormcaller. Akrem is a Sylph Magus who was raised among the Tamiir-Quah. The sourcebooks say that the Tamiir-Quah are known as the "Wind Tribe" and that their totems are the Storm Roc, Griffin, Wind and Cloud. I thought that a Sylph born among them while unusual might not be unheard of. And the Magus fits their more martial bearing rather than a pure wizard. I honestly cannot tell you how hard this character concept was. I considered several other ideas including a dropout Korvasa Acadame student with a unhealthy obsession with primal magic "unwords/words of power" (Bard; Sound-Striker Archetype). A Cheliaxian born noble, turned Preacher of Asmodius (Inquisitor; Preacher archetype), and a Varisian nomad charlatan, who's fake divinations are starting to become real (Sorcerer; Tattooed Sorcerer). In the end I settled with Akrem and I really like the concept. I though roleplay wise, the character had a very rich and multi-dimensional background, while not causing potential conflicts with other group members. I hope you like him!

SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------

Favored Class (Magus): +1 hit points
Racial Spell-Like Ability: Sylph's can case Feather Fall 1/day (caster level equals the sylph's total level).
Racial Trait, Breeze-Kissed (Su): A sylph surrounds himself with swirling winds, gaining a +2 racial bonus to AC against nonmagical ranged attacks. The sylph can calm or renew these winds as a swift action. Once per day, the sylph can channel this wind into a single gust, making a bull rush or trip combat maneuver attempt against one creature within 30 feet. Whether or not the attempt succeeds, the winds are exhausted and no longer provide a bonus to the sylph’s AC for 24 hours. This is a supernatural ability. This racial trait replaces air affinity.
Outlander (Lore Seeker): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (arcana) checks, and Knowledge (arcana) is a class skill for you. Shocking Grasp, Color Spray and Grease function at +1 caster level, and their save DCs gain a +1 bonus.
Magical Lineage (Shocking Grasp): Pick one spell when you choose this trait. When you apply metamagic feats to this spell, treat its actual level as 1 lower for determining the spell’s final adjusted level.
Cantrips: Can cast any prepared cantrips at will.
Spellbooks: A magus must study his spellbook each day to prepare his spells.
Arcane Pool (Su): A magus can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a swift action to grant any weapon he is holding a +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute. 4/day
Spell Combat (Ex): A magus learns to cast spells and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon in the other hand. As a full-round action, he can make all of his attacks with his melee weapon at a –2 penalty and can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting time of 1 standard action (any attack roll made as part of this spell also takes this penalty). If he casts this spell defensively, he can decide to take an additional penalty on his attack rolls, up to his Intelligence bonus, and add the same amount as a circumstance bonus on his concentration check. If the check fails, the spell is wasted, but the attacks still take the penalty. A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon attacks first, but if he has more than one attack, he cannot cast the spell between weapon attacks.

Favored Son:

I am Akrem Stormcaller. Favored son of the Tamiir-Quah and servant of Gozreh the Lord of Lightning. I come from the Tamiir-Quah, and my blood is from a heroic people who were shaped by strife and are bound together by honor and heroism. I was born twenty two years along the slopes of the Stony Mountains during a fierce winter storm. My tribes elder said that my birth cries seemed to echo in beat with the pounding of the lightning and the roaring of the thunder Magical Lineage. I was named Akrem after my father and Stormcaller after the day of my auspicious birth. I was raised as all children of the Shoanti are raised, with hard discipline and the expectation that the very stones would fail before I was allowed to. Determination was not a choice. On the Storval Plateau you either survived or you did not, there is no other option.

I was six years old when the changes began. At first my hair began to slowly turn white, and then wind seemed to rise around me where ever I went. Breeze-Kissed As I grew older the changes became even more pronounced; my touch would produce a small unexpected shock and my eyes turned a vibrant blue. Darkvision 60' I was different than the rest of my clan, but thankfully I was accepted, not shunned. The Tamiir-Quah is known as the Wind Clan, and though it had been many years, the legend of "wind children" was known among my people and I was considered blessed. Sylph Our totems are the cloud, storm roc and griffin. Rather than just being trained as a warrior for my tribe, I was challenged by my elders to learn to call upon my powers and embrace the blessings of the lightning lord. Magus 1

And so for the next ten years traveled from Quah to Quah, learning the secrets from the Quah Wind Masters. I climbed the tallest peaks that scrapped the very heavens and descended into the deepest gullies to feel the roaring wind. And each time, I felt the wind pushing me south. I do not know what I am seeking, but I listen to the wind, and trust. May the Lord of Lightning guide my feet. Outlander (Lore Seeker)

ok... I'd like to submit Alaric Morgain, bard archaeologist for this campaign... everything is in his profile.

Valkur, do you mind if I ask a few questions about the upcoming game?

1. I see you are new here, but have you run a PbP before elsewhere?

2. How will you be handling mapping?

3. How do you handle initiative order, by group (those that rolled higher than enemy, enemy, those that rolled lower) or by individual?

4. For posts, do you prefer text heavy or text light?

Normally I look at the posting history of other games they run to get an idea, but since this is your first game here I figured I would just ask. I hope this doesn't go over poorly, my curiosity gets the better of me.

Excellent questions Thaddeus! I noticed the low post count as well, but I'm still new enough to not think of these questions. Thanks!

Hi GM, I present Lorasaadi the half orc monk who is an honorable friend. Do co sidereal the background story etc to see it fits. will make adjustment.

Not a problem Thaddeus!

1. Not really, I did one a long time ago on the Wizards boards, I was a PC and it fell apart rather quickly. So I've just kind of stayed away from PbP games since. I have been playing D&D and all of its various editions (except 4th) since 1984, mostly as a DM. The last 20 years with the same group, but we only get together now twice a month due to family commitments. Which got me to thinking, I've got a bit of time here and there through out the day, why not run a pbb game? I know there are lots of challenges and what not, the biggest the game just dies for what ever reason. But I wanted to try DMing one and see what happens.

2. I've been brushing up on mapping! I'm quickly learning to use rp map tools to create the encounter maps. Not quite there yet, but I almost have the first map done. I was just going to post the maps to a photobucket account during the game. Seems like a lot of games on here do that as well. I'm open to suggestions.

3. Initiative, I was going to have all of the PC roll individually. For the opponents, I am going to roll all like monsters together. Enemy leaders will roll separately as well.

4. Not sure on this yet, but I am thinking whatever makes sense at the time. I don't want to bog the game down, but at the same time I do want some interaction. Also if the game needs to move along, I will move it along. I don't like to do that, but I don't want to see the game die either. Hope that makes sense!

Hope that answers some questions :)

Hey this is a pretty nice Mapping set up I don't know if you have heard of it but its called app.roll20.net
It may take a little getting used to but feel free to mess with it its free and it has a lot of useful things for it. Watch the video they provide for sure. Just a suggestion I know there are quite a few different ways of doing this.

I'd just like to submit Scoria the Stalwart, Monk of the Sacred Mountain. I made her for another RotRL game that fell through when our DM dropped off the face of the earth. Will adjust her stats to your standards if she's put through. You can read her background in her profile as well, that probably won't change at all.

A couple suggestions based on the answers to my earlier questions.

1. When things start getting hectic, sometimes it's better to post less and keep the game going than to burn out and feel you are unable to maintain expectations. Narrowing down to a post a week during a rough patch is better than trying to maintain 1 a day and then the game dying.

2. For mapping, check with the players you choose if there are any tools they can't access. I have seen some where players can't get to certain sites (like when posting from work) to see the maps. Also, there is a few neat tools out there, despite sometimes having hiccups. Dabbleboard.com is neat as it allows the players to move their own icons so you the GM don't have to update them every turn and end up getting the "I had moved to here" replies.

3. Rolling init for the players can save a lot of time. I know most players like to have control of their own rolls, but the same post you introduce combat in can be the one you roll init for everyone and put it in order. Otherwise there comes a time where you end up waiting a day for someone to post, just for init. The key is make a pre-post init for yourself, maybe in a text doc or the campaign tab, so you can just paste it in whenever init needs to be rolled.

Overall, I'm glad to see anyone willing to take up the mantle and run a PbP, as there are a lot of people looking for a game on here, and a lot of games that struggle to make it past the first encounter. I hope all goes well with running your first one.

I may be running a game of this myself before too long if I can figure out an easy way to get the excellent maps provided into maptools.

Notick has been altered for your rules and for the RotRL AP!

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about his background - a lot of it is implied through his story, but I could understand of a 'tangent' story for some information is needed!

I present Terran Goldpeak, as I proposed earlier.

Been looking over the campaign traits and I think I've settled on one for Bel'Tanis here. If he's selected, I think I'll have him take the trait Favored Son (Ameiko).

spoilered for length:

His backstory will still be the same, but instead of bumping into a priest from the new temple he'd have bumped into Ameiko instead, who for some inscrutable reason took a liking to him. Maybe it was because she recognized the lost and freightened look in the newcomer's eye, or maybe it was something in the sound of his voice. Perhaps Bel'Tanis simply happened to bump into her when she was feeling especially benevolent.

Bel'Tanis isn't sure why she was so kind (Ameiko may not be entirely sure herself either), but she took him under her wing and offered him a place to stay at the Rusty Dragon. Her influence also helped pull the strings for Bel'Tanis to get the commune spell cast on his behalf.

It could also mean that he would have been in Sandpoint for many weeks before the inevitable inciting incident rather than fresh off the wagon. And I like the idea of him having being in town for 8 or 9 weeks and just getting to the point where he's starting to settle into routines and getting to know the townsfolk.

Me too, I hope this goes well.

As for posting, I don't expect people to post a novel every post (or even the majority of posts). Just try to post something everyday (and once on the weekend). The post doesn't have to be long, it just lets me know you are still with us.

For initiative, is it possible in the profile to have a per-rolled init? That way I can start the encounter with out waiting for an init roll, that way you the players get to control the roll. And the game keeps rolling. Also if you do not post within 24 hours during an encounter and I need your action, I will just act for you. That way it keeps things moving.

I'm guessing it will take a good six months to get through Burnt Offerings. Has anybody actually finished an AP module pbp? How long did it take?

This PbP which I've been following (and anyone who isn't already should start, the group's got a great thing going here!) has been running through Shackled City and they started back in June of last year. They're nearing the 7500 post mark and are in Chapter 4 of that particular AP.

Personally, I've not finished any APs yet. My experience is that more often than not the GM burns out early on. Thaddeus' first suggestion was inspired, in my opinion, in light of this. Slow, steady and enduring is far more preferable than a sprint to a quick burn-out.

All those words aside, I think 6 months to finish Burnt Offerings is a fairly reasonable target.

I'll have to take a look at that PbP. That is impressive that they are in chapter 4 in one year.

Finishing an AP pbp would be epic.

The pre-rolls in the profile could get a little tough to track, either they'd need to keep rolling them or have a list of pre-rolled ones that you can pull from. Actually, I think you'll find that a lot of PbP players are more lenient on things when they are used to speed up PbP play. It was a lot rougher when I started out, trying to play it like at the table. I find it has gotten a little easier when you do things like spoiler perception checks or saves. Initiative is one of those, you post once with the rolls and the order, and they can act sooner. Otherwise you ask for a roll, all but one rolls, after 24 hours you roll for him. The enemy goes first, then the late roller, 24 hours after his turn is announced you take it for him. It doesn't seem like much but it adds up.

Some tough choices there. As usual, they are all potentially interesting characters.

As a DM, I've found for initiative that the easiest way to do it, and most people seem to like it, is for the DM to roll it in one post, and than post the order. It keeps things moving along, but still keeps the benefit of trying for a high initiative modifier that some other simplified systems remove.

He has inquisitive dark eyes that are like two pebbles on the snowing plain. He is small and has an athletic build. His fur is pure white. He has small quick hands and a long white furry tail. He has well groomed whiskers. He wears a tight fitted leather armor with a flowing purple cloak. he carries a ornamented scimitar.

Personality:

--------------------
Personality
--------------------
Thordan like all ratfolks love shiny objects. He loves gold silver and anything that reflect lights. He polished his scimitar every day so that it catches the sunlight with his every stroke. Thordan has a very outgoing personality and loves to meet new people. Usually he goes into a complete chitter chatting frenzy and starts telling complete strangers his dreams and where he came from. When he is excited he twitches his whiskers and his tail moves around. He always love a good adventure and cannot help but literally poke his nose into matters that intrigue him, like why is the baker missing 2 loaves of bread 2 nights ago or why is there strange noises coming from the sewers at night? More than all these, Thordan loves to sing though to the untrained ear it may just sound like 2 rats squeaking in harmony at certain high notes of the song. His favorite phase? I will Never Fail!.

Feats
--------------------
Dervish Dance (PFCaS: ISWG 286)-When wielding a scimitar with one hand, you can use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on melee attack and damage rolls. You treat the scimitar as a one-handed piercing weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist’s precise strike ability). The scimitar must be for a creature of your size. You cannot use this feat if you are carrying a weapon or shield in your off hand.
Weapon Finesse (PFCR 136)- With a light weapon, elven curve blade, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls. If you carry a shield, its armor check penalty applies to your attack rolls.
--------------------
Traits
--------------------
Anatomist- You know where to aim your blows to strike vital organs and you gain a +1 trait bonus on all rolls made to confirm critical hits.
Freedom Fighter(Andoran)- You gain +1 trait bonus on Stealth checks and a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls made during the surprise round.
--------------------
Racial Traits
--------------------
Tinker- Ratfolk gain a +2 racial bonus on Craft (alchemy), Perception, and Use Magic Device checks.
Rodent Empathy- Ratfolk gain a +4 racial bonus on Handle Animal checks made to influence rodents.
City Raised- Proficient with whips and Longswords, and recieve a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge(Local) checks
Cornered Fury- Ratfolk can fight viciously when cut off from friends and allies. Whenever a ratfolk with this racial trait is reduced to half or fewer of his hit points, and has no conscious ally within 30 feet, he gains a +2 racial bonus on melee attack rolls and to Armor Class. This racial trait replaces swarming.
--------------------
Special Abilities
--------------------
Favored Class (Bard)- +1 hitpoint
Bardic Knowledge- A bard adds half his class level (minimum 1) to all Knowledge skill checks and may make all Knowledge skill checks untrained.
Battle dance - A Dawnflower dervish is trained in the use of the Perform skill, especially dance, to create magical effects on himself. This works like bardic performance, except that the Dawnflower dervish’s performances grant double their normal bonuses, but these bonuses only affect him. He does not need to be able to see or hear his own performance. Battle dancing is treated as bardic performance for the purposes of feats, abilities, and effects that affect bardic performance, except that battle dancing does not benefit from the Lingering Performance feat or any other ability that allows a bardic performance to grant bonuses after it has ended. The benefits of battle dancing apply only when the bard is wearing light or no armor. Like bardic performance, battle dancing cannot be maintained at the same time as other performance abilities.
Starting a battle dance is a move action, but it can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a battle dance from one effect to another requires the Dawnflower dervish to stop the previous performance and start the new one as a move action. Like a bard, a Dawnflower dervish’s performance ends immediately if he is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action each round. A Dawnflower dervish cannot perform more than one battle dance at a time. At 10th level, a Dawnflower dervish can start a battle dance as a swift action instead of a move action.
When the Dawnflower dervish uses the inspire courage, inspire greatness, or inspire heroics bardic performance types as battle dances, these performance types only provide benefit to the Dawnflower dervish himself. All other types of bardic performance work normally (affecting the bard and his allies, or the bard’s enemies, as appropriate).
Enhanced Healing- A number of times per day equal to his Charisma modifier, a songhealer can cause any healing effect from a spell completion or spell trigger item to function at a caster level equal to his class level.

--------------------
Bard Spells
--------------------
Bard Level 0
Dancing Lights- Creates torches or other lights.
Detect Magic- Detects spells and magic items within 60 ft.
Daze- Humanoid creature of 4 HD or less loses next action.
Message- Whisper conversation at distance.

Bard Level 1
Cure Light Wounds- Cures 1d8 damage + 1/level (max +5).
Vanish - As invisibility for 1 round/level (5 max).

background:
In the beginning...there was MICE!!
Somewhere far far away in the Verduran Forest lies is a warren of ratfolks living together harmoniously. The nearest human settlement was the sleepy town of Falcon Hollow which lumberjacks mostly lived in. It is in one of the many barrows in the warren, Thordan Silentail was born. He was born as a stillborn in a litter of 5 rats. His mother Mrs Silentail was sad that one of them is a stillborn

well at least i have 4 of them... she thought.

Just when Mrs Silentil was about to ask the nursing mother to dispose of him, Thordan Silentail started wailing..thus the runt of the of household Silentail was born.

Growing up, Thordan accompanys his father Mr Silentail in tending their carrot fields while his older brothers and sisters learnt and studied in schools about crafts and merchantship. While Thordan loves carrot, he definitely do not love them so much that he will spend everyday with them!!

Why can't I attend school like my brothers and sisters Dad?
Well that's because you are so small Thordan, it's better you stay beside me... replied Mr Silentail.

You see, his siblings all grew tall and strong like normal Ratfolk children and they always bully Thordan due to his smaller size.

Someday i will grow to be the biggest Rat in this village...no in this world!! Wait till you see!! I will never fail!! Thordan shrieks after the other children in the village as they laughed and pounced away leaving him sitting in the mud.

One day, while Thordan was carrying carrots to the warren market to sell for the he came across a merchant stall selling books. Like all good old curious ratfolk, he cant helped but be drawn towards the shiny object located in the piles of trinkets. He dug into the pile and pulled out a needle like object.

Ahhh...I see you found something intresting. Got it off a training fighting school instructor for children in the city of Almas. He mentioned that he wanted to be a baker instead that's why he is selling away all his gear the white furred ratfolk merchant chattered.

Thordan pull out the blade from the brown scabbard and it is a plain dull steel rapier designed for a young human child. He touched the pointed end of the rapier and it was sharp

I can sell trade you for it...those huge carrots of yours look mighty fine...so what say you my furry lad?

Thordan hesitated but he can feel the furs on his back tingling with excitement.

I tell you what, since we are fated together on this fine day. I shall throw in a book that teaches you how to fence. No use trying to use that ting without proper training aye?

Thordan left the stall a happy Ratboy carrying the blade and a book titiled "In Out, In Out, the basic steps for the aspiring rapier-ist.". Of course he was canned by Mr Silenthil that evening for losing the carrots but Thordan took it all with a smile knowing his trusty sword which of no surprise he named it "Needle" was safely hidden under one the the loose floorboards in the barn...

Seasons passed, and Thordan has grown considerably much from the last time we met him. By now he has memorized and mastered every move in the book, thanks to his late night trainings alone in the barn. One day, Thordan had a crazy idea to start an adventure of his own. Packing his gear and trusty Needle, he venture out into the woods..

On his journey, he heard a loud scream in the woods. Curious, he dashed towards the scream. In the foliage he saw a young human girl cornered by a snarling timber wolf. Instinctively, Thordan screamed and dashed out of the bush towards the wolf.

The girl screamed when she saw a screaming ratfolk burst out of a bush.

Oh furry paws, I do not know if this was a good idea.. thought Thordan before turning his focus back on the wolf.

The wolf turned around and pounced towards the charging ratboy. Upon closer inspection, Thordan realized that the timber wolf is at least 2 times his size. His training took over and he thrust his rapier towards the wolf, the wolf landed unto Thordan with a yelp burying him under a mass of bones and fur. His rapier has found it's mark and it has pierced the heart of the wolf. Thordan rolled over the wolf over his body as he faced the young human girl. He never noticed before but she seems well dressed with a nice silk dress with golden braided hair set in a complicated intertwining pattern.

Must be a lady thought Thordan as he bowed before the girl and said Thordan Silentail at your service My Lady"

Just at that moment a steed burst out from the green foliage.

Back off fiend!! spoke the rider on the steed. He was dressed in a suit of dark leather armor as he readied his sword.

Ricardo stop it! He just saved my life! shouted the girl.

But My Lady...he is a monster. replied the knight. Thordan frowned at that remark.

It is a command! Ricardo snorted in disbelief before sheathing his sword.

The girl then introduced herself as Fiona Evenheart the daughter of a local rich merchant. She introduced Ricardo as her father's captain and they are out today for a hunting trip. She then invited Thordan to accompany her at her castle despite Ricardo's protest.

Sir Mouse Guard?
Fiona was thrilled with Thordan's tail as she keeps touching it and asking him to do tricks with it. When they arrived at the castle courtyard, her father Merchant Lord Tharkin stepped out to greet her. He was amused at her daughter's furry companion. Fiona then moved on to explain how Thordan rushed to her rescue when the wolf threatened her. Lord Tharkin thanked Thordan and asked him what can he do in return? Before Thordan could reply, Fiona stepped in and requested Thordan to be her personal bodyguard. Lord Tharkin was flabbergasted but he gave in to her daughter whom he loves very much.

Sir Thordan Silentail will you take the honor and oath to serve my house to protect at all cost the life of Fiona Evenheart all the days of your life?

i will never fail, My Lord. replied Thordan.

So it was at this place Thordan Silentail received his training for the next 6 years under the tutelage of renowned Dervish Bard Prancelin Parques in the ways of the scimitar and dance. Whenever he is not training under Prancelin Parques he would be accompanying Fiona to hunting trips, town visits, dancing balls in his customized armor and scimitar.

However all good things eventually comes to an end as Fiona fell very sick. Thordan stood beside her bedside for weeks never leaving even for food. When Fiona passed away, Lord Tharkin released him from his oath and state that he is free to go. So picking up his gear, Thordan Silentail sniffed the air and it smells of adventure as he walked out of the castle gates.

If anybody is interested in the classes and races submitted.

Classes
2.5 Bard
2.5 Cleric

Just curious how you get 1/2 a bard and 1/2 a cleric...

The Exchange

I'm assuming either a bard/cleric multiclass, or just two characters with no depth.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 4

Actually, I think it's because this submission could be either a cleric or a bard.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

1.5 Cleric and Bard comes from Sunshadow's character who said Ensu could be either a Bard or Cleric depending on the needs of the campaign.

Nothing scientific, I was just organizing the characters and trying to get of an idea of what was available.

As for an initiative, I am going to roll init for everybody, then post the order. That way encounters don't have to stall out waiting for an init roll.

ah... well cool... was just curious - 1/2 a character sounded unusual lol

Sczarni

You ought to organize the characters submitted as "Roles" such as if you have looked at how 4.0 classifies.. classes.
ex. Stereotypical Ranger. Direct damage
Stereotypical Cleric. Support/Control
etc etc.
just an idea? maybe it will help narrowing down selection a bit for you.

Scarab Sages

Last minute entry for your consideration. Sun Wu Kong, Half-Orc Monk who strives to do good in this world, fighting injustice while at the same time keeping at bay the rage characteristic of his ancestors.

I'm very new to both Pathfinder and PbP (played D&D tabletop), but am motivated to learn. Even if I don't get in on this campaign, I would like to lurk on the board to follow it's progress and learn more about how this works. Thanks. : )

I am officially closing the window for submissions.

I have a lot of really great concepts and backgrounds to choose from, so I will be selecting 6 PCs.

I will post the selections sometime tomorrow (6th) afternoon central time.

Thanks again everybody.

Sounds good, looking forward to hearing the results.

Hey all,

I have the characters selected. Also to those who did not get selected please don't get discouraged, I could have easily made 2 or 3 more parties out of the submitted characters. So keep trying other games, I'm sure you get in a game sooner than later.

Here goes:

Bel'Tanis - Aasimar Fighter
Krondak Iron Forge - Human (Shoanti) Cleric of Gorum (Separatist)
Thaddeus Pruitt - Human Magus (Bladebound)
Notick Mostriare - Half-Elf Magus
Scoria the Stalwart - Oread Monk of the Sacred Mountain
Midori Masaki Human (Tian-Min) Bard (Songhealer)

Again thanks to all that submitted characters.

I will start up the game discussion thread.

Hi All,

Looking for a replacement character for Rise of the Rune Lords. Looking for a level 3, Full Arcane or Ranged Type of Fighter for the replacement.

We are currently just about to finish Burnt Offerings with the BBEG.

I will accept submissions until 01/26/14.

Guidelines:
Expectations:
1. Minimum of 1-2 posts during M-F, 1 post per weekend.
2. Creative and interesting backgrounds are a plus.
3. Play nice with others.
4. Character optimization is okay, but try not to go overboard.

Crunch:

1. 3rd Level
2. Race: Core, APG, UC, UM, ARG (Non core races are okay, but I will probably only pick one)
3. Class: Core, APG, UC, UM, UE (Non core clases are okay, but I will probably only pick one)
4. Archetypes: Core, APG, UC, UM, ARG, UE
5. Abilities: 20-pt Buy
6. Alignment: Any good or neutral. (No evil)
7. Wealth: Average Starting
8. Character Traits: Two traits, One must be a Campaign Trait from the AP.

Very interested. I'd like to submit a Alchemist with the Preservationist Archetype. He does ranged combat and casts so I hope that would semi fullfill you're criteria.

A few quick question:

1)What is the current party composition?
2)Wealth: Average starting Wealth would be like 115 gold? Wealth by level for 3rd level is more like 3000 gold. Which shall it be?

You can certainly submit an Alchemist.

The party consists of all at 3rd level:
Monk 3
Fighter 3
Cleric 3
Bard 3
Magus 3

You can start with 3,000gp but with the restriction you can only have 1 permanent magical item worth no more than 1,500gp.

I am interested in submitting a character as a replacement. It'd actually fit both roles, as a ranged focused Eldritch Knight. Would that be ok with you?

Going to get to work on the fluff, crunch, but just as a quick question, do you follow the ruling on spell-like abilities counting as pre-req's for prestige classes? I'm fine with either ruling, just would affect the build slightly.
