Hailing originally from the cosmopolitan city of Kintargo, Miera Kespin's life took a dramatic turn at a young age when a scout from the local conservatory heard the then-tavern maid singing to herself as she worked. Convinced that she had a rare talent on her hands, Miera was tutored by the finest vocal coaches Cheliax had to offer, including some more arcane-focused teachers when it was discovered that her golden voice was a catalyst for a sorcerous bloodline.
While she at first made a splash performing in traditional Chelish opera, drawing in crowds from among both the lower and upper classes, Miera soon desired to stretch her legs in a different artistic direction. With the assistance of a wealthy patron from Pezzack who provided her with newly written material, she began performing across the nation as a solo artist, and her popularity reached its zenith.
Unfortunately, Miera was as enamored by her status as a celebrity as she was unconcerned about the political climate. The Chelaxian authorities took notice of the increased rebel activity that occurred in the cities she performed in, and a closer examination of the contents of her lyrics revealed them to have a dangerously anti-authoritarian streak. She faced censorship by the government, and loyalist factions called for her prosecution as a rebel instigator.
The final nail in the coffin occurred when her patron was arrested when his ties to Pezzack's underground rebellion was revealed. It had turned out he had actually had been using Miera's songs as recruitment tools to motivate the citizens of Cheliax to oust their oppressive government. He was sentenced to be executed as a traitor, and Miera would likely have soon followed after him if she hadn't been smuggled out of the country by sympathetic rebels.
Now without her celebrity, her wealth, or even a permanent home, Miera is desperate to somehow revive her career and gain back the fame and fortune that fate had cost her. Having heard that there was a theater in Sandpoint rivaling those in the larger cities of Korvosa and Magnimar (which she is trying to avoid until such time as she can afford adequate protection from Chelaxian nationalists), she sent a letter to Cyrdak Drokkus requesting an audition. Not having gotten a response in quite some time, Miera is determined to travel to Sandpoint, confident she can win him over with an in-person performance.
