Sir Percival's holy aura mixed with the essence of Summer fills the room. "you want me to make a deal with that Lord Marshal; a demon succubus of the demonic abyssal realms? Surely thus any deal reached would be twisted and broken by such a creature."

The Lord Marshal raises and eyebrow; Sir Percival salutes and turns to Iunius and they begin speaking quietly and unheard.

After some time they break apart and speak thus together

"we have named Raven the accepted nuetral observer and enforcer of the writ of challenge, let Raven and his agent be notified and agreement of this Accord be accepted or refused"

Oh, sorry, you must have picked up my dice. I'll be these are yours. Here you go!

Fox will shift her position, but 20' on difficult terrain will take her the entire round, I think.

And next round, she will pick herself up off the floor, avoiding eye contact with anyone, and try that second move action again...

I dont think the dice roller paizo chose is very good; I and a few other people have ran out the statistics and, well, it sucks as a random number generator, there certainly are better scripts. You are certainly welcome to keep using it or another dice roller.

ok;you catch yourself falling into a lazy slumber; suddenly in a bit of a panic as your realize this is not your idea; but one being magically forced on you; you rally your thoughs not knowing how much time may have past in this reverie; you retake stock in the situation and notice that the scene has changed; two heavily armored and armed knights stand guard over the great hand of ice and seem to be in conversation with Llvenoc and Iunius.

Sorry! I was out of town!

Kemnebi reaches into his belt pouch to grab a spell component, one portion of his busy brain wondering exactly who Llivenoc was talking too. Then the scene changed before he could start chanting his spell, and the words died on his lips as he did a fast mental replay of the previous few seconds.

'Sir Percival, really?!? I remember that name, from a story I read in teh library,...' The feline mage mutters as he watches the proceedings with sudden, intense interest. He idly reaches over to tap Caerwyn on the shoulder as he watches June and the other knight engage in a brief but emphatic discussion, then return to announce their decision.

Whatever question he may have been about to ask the warrior is apparently forgotten as he observes and commits to memory every detail of the proceedings unfolding before him. His mind juggles the impact of the mythological names of the knights, their apparent working for the Summer court, trying to learn the game that Llivenoc suggested as they begin to play, and worrying for June.

Somewhere, one portion of his mind registers that someone in the mindlink is saying something about an attack by snakemen,...

Fox stumbles and falls among the rubble; you may make a reroll on your balance as Durr is helpling you; assist bonus +3; though he is not as nimble as the catfolk; this is his natural environment so is quite steady <which leads you to think he might need a balance roll to charge on flat open ground lol>

Reminder from round 1; all characters may add the Bless from Nebibit's cast from round 1.

the parties two warriors and the two massive snakemen go at it toe to toe; neither giving an inch.

The abomninations pop their rage and strike.
Astinos; the first claw skitters along your sheild with a pierceing wail in a close miss; the second attack cuts through for 18 damage.

Kosan; the second one's attacks get through your defense; 20 pts; ack ;the second attack is a miss so close it shaves your eyebrows.

The snakemage gestures and shards of ice fall in a hail storm in the area of the tunnels from the hall to Kosan and Astinos. This increases the difficulty of movement thorugh the rough terrain; and all players not in the darkness area take affects as per Ice Storm and effects , -4 to listen checks; movement is halved; 3d6 bludgeon; 12 damage + 2d6 cold damage 9 damage; total 21 if you have no SR or damage resistance or cold resist.

Kalona is suddenly taken over by Raven who channels his power to create and Avatar; and Kalona becomes Huge; she flaps her wings and gails of air are stirred as her wingspan is some 60 ft and she is over 20ft high.

with a sparkle in her eye; the very terrain and dimension change; the darkness is swept away and all those in this are find themselves in a green, gently sloping mountain glade; a gentle yet crisp wind in the air; downhill from the glade is a babbling brook where fish jump and play; butterflies fly about; and back a bit from the glade is the dark deep wood where rumbles and thunder of far off storm scent the air and danger and the Wylde lurk, vast things beyond mortal ken or knowlege; sometimes the giant trees get up and move; constantly fighting for better sunlight.

A flight of raven some 1000 strong sit in the trees and watch all with beady eyes far to intelligent for just meare animals. In the distance various animals can be seen as well as various humanoid figures.

On the west bank it is darker and cooler with the storm off in the distance to the west.

On the east bank across the brook; the meadow becomes wilder and grass, brush and trees in vast abundance an herds of unseen things can be heard moving as great swaths of man high grass is trampled flat yet no creature of the herd can be seen and a warm wet summer storm is far off into the distance.

there is a Bridge, captial B Bridge, as the Bridge seems old; old like old as stars old and more real than anything around it. The bridge is red; a rusty, pinkish color; of heavy timber painted; is has a low arch over the brook and is some 80ft long and 20 ft wide; there are tiles on the sides and the walk of the bridge as well as pools holding up a small arched roof made of the same heavy square beams of reddish, pink color, the roof only covers 1/3 of each end of the bridge; so the center is open in the center of the brook; the tiles are mostly bone white; but have painting and figures on them; but they cannot be made out at the distance the party is at.

Over the bridge high in the sky is the Sun; seemingly hanging in the balance exactly over the brook and unmoving.

Across the brige can be seen the other party; the Lord Marshal and the Summer Knight as well as a two other sidhe spectators.

here on your side is the party; Kenembi, Llvenoc; Iunius and a bit distant Caerwyn. <did I leave out anyone?>

Kalona/Raven lands atop the roof of the bridge; and looks down at the center of the bridge; even at this distance sounds of the bridge creaking and growning as the giant bird settles startles the senses. A vast impression is had by all; the the Bridge undures; as it has forever shifting to the whatever burden is placed upon it.

Kalona/Raven speaks:

"let the Two Seconds come forward and all others remain behind". the bird chuckles to itself on its cleverness.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

The two Summer Knight and Iunius go forward; the Summer Knight awaits Iunius to step upon the Bridge first; seemingly a gentlemanly act; as they nod to each other as she steps upon it.

They walk to the middle; Iunius making no sound with her soft leather boots; yet the step and clank of the Summer Knights armored feet can be heard with a slight echo.

A giant board appears; a full Ruckles set of vast, vast age; seemingly more a metaphor than a game set. Thus an small understanding and insight of the game comes to everyone; Ruckles; translated to any language; means: the Great Contest.

The Ruckles board has three upper teirs; their shapes rounded and spectral and full of blues and whites and yellows; with hundreds of modeled pieces; how can you even see them at this range; must be magic.

The Ruckles board has three middle teirs; their shapes solid and firm while still fluid and wet. The colors here are full of browns and greens and silver.

The Ruckles board has three lower teirs; there shapes jagged and harshly etheral and full of reds and blacks and gold.

upon each board are set positions and players; surrounding each feild of play, yet not in play are thousands of playing pieces that can be brought into play depending upon sequence and arrangment of fielded peices.

what each person should take from this game is that it is the most complex game known anywhere; humans have games that are built from single scenarios of the game in isolated postitions; probably because they dont live long enough to learn the entire set of rules of the game much less learn how to play it.

Even to long lived races, such as Drow and Elves; the game takes centuries to learn well enough to be rated a Master; Masters are Ruckles are the greatly feared/respected individuals while rare Grandmasters fame/notoriety are without peer.

The Lord Marshal is a Great Master, ranked somewhere between Master and Grandmaster. Prince Llvenoc is an Adept; meaning nearing masterhood at one level of play. This can be noted as when playing a formal game; each player wears a stole showing thier rank.

Both players note there are two figures unknown to them on this Ruckles board: above the high teir is a shining white sword; coming out of the lowerst teir comes a long multicolored tenticle.

The discussion between Iunius and the Summer Knight is interesting.

Iunius obviously knows far more about the game than the Percival, who is of course a human, as of course is using her charms to gain the stonger postion for Llvenoc; while the Summer Knight, seems fairly immune to feminine wiles, is bargaining from a place of strength and directness as he knows his is the stronger player.

Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Assuming range of 30', which also gives her Point Blank Shot bonuses. I don't believe Bless benefits damage rolls, so didn't include it there.

She then attempts to move out of line of sight from the spellcasters, toward the wall that they excavation has partially collapsed.

Balance check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

"ok, you will play three games; one on each middle teir. Each game will consist of 100 moves. At the end of 100 moves; Kalona/Raven will judge the strength of each players postition and declare a winner. The game must be played from whatever position the board is currently set to and gains and losses will be judged from there regardless of if you start with a winning or losing position; it is the strength of improvement of your sides situation that is in question.

ok, for the actual game; we will do three rolls for each game for each section; beginning, middle, and end.

As the game will be played on the central, center game field; the two opponents will be fairly evenly matched in actual game skill; but playing the game is more than just a series of moves; it involved the players; to represent the dynamics of player vs player; we will use Bluff and Sense Motive. Player may gain or loose advantage in the game this way that will/may adjust their ruckles score as one can be psyched out so to speak.

<in actual game mechanics; he is not going to be that much greater than you in actual game skill; as you can only have 10 ranks so +10 so there he has a +1 on you; and he is a bit smarter than you; so he gets a bit of bonus there; so sense motive and bluff might make the big difference either way though in those two he has a pretty big advantage; but still, aught to be interesting.

so for each game:
one Ruckles roll; one sense motive; and one bluff
repeat twice more for series of three rolls.

Kemnebi grows unusually silent, contemplating the swift opening moves,...

In the meantime, she will work to time her next attack to hit the snakeman mage and disrupt his casting.

I will take a bit of a stroll in the surrounding areas mainly looking for a way back to the rest of the party. While I realize it is mostly hopeless since there seems to be magic involved, I could get lucky. I will try to Hide amongst trees and shadows just in case not everyone is friendly around here.

you head toward the trees and the hair on your neck starts to stand up; its like the hole forest is watching you; like your the rabbit and the hunt is after you; a strong feeling. As you get toward the trees you notice how old they are; old; ancient and they dont look nice; you see things moving deep in the forest and hear a very low timbre of a slow drum. In several places brush russles and low twigs move; were those twigs or antlers...

As you enter the forest <if you still do> there are several paths; but none look more used than others; the forest is cool; almost cold; the trees bark hard and the bark has thorns. Everything seems to lean closer toward you; sweat begins to trickle down you spine; you just can't help it; this place is alien and unfriendly to mortals; you can feel the hate of these trees; the grass seems to grip at your feet, their little blades trying to cut you.

about 30 ft from you, up the path; you see footprings appear as if something unseen stepped out of the brush. The prints are large and heavy; about twice the size of your feet and they sink into the earth a good two or three inches.

you can hear and see the footsteps slowly getting closer to you; it is the source of that drumming; boom; boom; boom; boom

what do you do?

I don't think I've ever felt like this before, at least not since the gnolls came and killed everyone I ever cared about...I will quietly make my way back to the bridge and try to find safety in numbers.

When (and if) I make it back, I tell Kemnebi: "Forget about the exploration I mentioned earlier, this place gives me the creeps."

The Avatar Crow, judge of the game; cocks his head to the side and says in a very loud voice in the mindlink and in each persons ears and head

"Kalona, as you knew her does not exist right now, but shall be returned to you after her role in this event takes place; there is however, my dwarven slayer, other here who may assist you.

Caerwyne; seek yea to join yon companions at melee with the Ancient Foe? Assume they guise of hidden striker, and say thus "take me to my foes" and thus you shall be expelled from this realm to that by my word, and I shall set the to strike at the heal of the foe wildst they dwarven kneecapper the yon group to tarry in combat."

to those in the realm of the game.

draw lots for advantage:
advantage Llvenoc. Doest though choose movement or position to begin?

movement means you get to choose to move first give the first move; position means you get to choose which side you play in the scenario; the weaker or the stronger starting position. Whichever you choose; your opponent get to choose the other.
