Here is the Bundle of Holding for Frog God Game's Razor Coast. Mainly I am hoping to incite some one to run it. I am debating if I am willing to run it myself if necessary.

Interest!

Huge, copious amounts of interest if this Dark Sun game doesn't get off the ground. :D

For those that do not feel like following the link, Razor Coast is a pirate setting/campaign for Pathfinder. The main thing that sets it apart in my mind is that it is based on the mythology of Hawaii.

While I would still love for someone else to run this, I am going to start acting as though I am. So first question, since the default campaign does not start till level five should we start there or have some adventures in the Razor first? Oh yes, I am thinking 20 point buy for stats.

That's fascinating. Might have to buy myself an Axemas present. I'm interested. :)

What you say about the Hawaiian gods peaks my interest. I admit, without purchasing the pdf, I would be interested in running such a game. Would you be interested in playing a character from the Razor Coast in the same world? Different quest?

Currently, my group and I are running a Kobold Press Module en route to Endhome.
Endhome is a port from Frog God Games' same setting. From there we plan to embark on the Lost City of Barakus adventure by Frog God Games.
Our original DM is looking to get back in the action with the Wizard's Amulet run. Together we may try and link up the two campaigns. "Two Parties, Same World."

Would you care to join us? Currently we have a cleric bot, which we would like to replace. However, you could really play just about any class.

Campaign Info Page

Endhome from our wiki.

Here is where our character creation stats are.

I wish I could just jump in and say YES, I WILL RUN THIS. However, I am close to launching a Jade Regent campaign as well as a budding World of Darkness chronicle. Time becomes a premium at this point, please understand.

I am not interested in running as GM -- I'd like to complete a play by post as a player before I dive into those waters.

I love pirates and would love to play in a pirate-themed campaign. A pirate themed campaign set in Hawaii? Sold.

If you were to GM (Nohwear or Trux or whomever else leaps in) what would your vision be? Would this be a multiple posts per day campaign? Would this all happen in play by post? What classes, races and books would be allowed?

I guess I need to know more.

Hmm

Sovereign Court

Not sure anyone is on that level, Hmm.

Give the store page a look, though. Also recommend you check out reviews of Razor Coast where possible.

Paizo has similar offering Skulls & Shackles, of course. Razor likely be more rough, more tough, more fun.

Yes, I realize that we can't know those things until someone commits to GMing! I suppose this was just a statement of general interest. Because pirates are awesome and fun. The store page did look interesting.
I've never played Skulls and Shackles either, though it interests me too.

I hope that you find the replacement player for your game, Trux.

Hmm

Hey trux! So Grimmy has popped his head back into the pbp world, eh? I'm interested to see what Nohwear responds with. Either way I am interested. You know I want to play Rata again :)

trux, Thank you. I will likely take you up on your offer.

Everyone, I am going to precede with the assumption that I will be the one to run it. I would still appreciate if some one else would take over, but my commitment to the Razor is too strong. Pretty much all of Paizo's stuff is fair game. The high tech stuff does not fit. The only races allowed are the Core races and the new ones in the Freebooter's Guide. The materiel from the players section of the bundle is automatically fair game. Other 3pp stuff is to be decided on a case by case bases. The Freebooters Guide to the Razor Coast is a must. It contains everything a player will need. If there are any other questions please ask.

Just to clarify Nowhear, you'll be joining trux in his game as well as GMing this one?

Also, what is your verdict on starting level? I, for one, prefer to start at 1st, but I know I am usually in the minority on these boards.

Sixteenbiticon wrote:

In all likelihood yes.

Sixteenbiticon wrote:

That is up for discussion. The official campaign does not start till five. So we either have some adventures in the Razor first, or you start at level five.

Do we read different boards? All the APs start at 1, and most non-AP campaigns do so too. Higher starting level also allows to write a backstory other than "I just graduated from military/magic/rogue/cleric academy and I'm eager to whack some rats or goblins".

Not all APs are Paizo ... (what would be the word?) toonjaunts.

Not that there is anything wrong with a fun toonjaunt, of course.

Some can be a bit more dangerous. Other publishers sometime start their stories at higher levels. Tell a different kind of story.

Hey Nohwear, glad to hear you're interested in both playing and running. I wish I knew more about the Razor Coast, so that I could be more helpful. So I guess in that regard, Hmm & I are on the same page.

Sixteen, I was under the impression you were full on commitments. You took responsibility for that other game you mentioned, right? Feel free to drop back by the discussion page. Party is out in the woods, but you could snoop around the ville if you like.

Maybe we can find a few more interested parties and find you a pirate crew, Nowhear.

To copy and paste the description given by BoH:

Under the heat of the salted sun, along a pirate-riddled coast bloated fat with forgotten riches and forbidden secrets, the subjugation of the native tribes awakens long banished horrors. Horrors whose deadly plans threaten not only Port Shaw—the corrupt fingerhold of a distant and decadent civilization—but existence, itself.

Razor Coast is the Caribe-Polynesian flavored, Age of Sail swashbuckling RPG campaign envisioned and designed by Nicolas Logue. With its ambitious design and epic flavor, Razor Coast isn't just an adventure. It's part setting, part adventure path, and part toolkit to build your own unique campaign. It's non-linear and will never play the same way twice.

Says Agresta, "We filled it with corrupt municipal Dragoons, dastardly smuggling rings, weresharks—lots of weresharks—desperate naval battles, oppressed tribes craving heroes, witches, cursed islands, legendary treasure troves, an impending apocalypse or two, demon pirates, retired assassins, undead worms, gator men, failed heroes waiting to be redeemed, dark conspiracies brewing in the oceans depths, vengeful ghost...oh—and mutating cannibal pygmies. Who doesn't like those?"

Thank you for deciding to GM! I appreciate your willingness to commit. The campaign sounds like a lot of fun. How many characters would you be looking for, initially? I don't mind starting at fifth -- it makes some builds easier -- but first level is okay with me too.

Do we need to purchase the Freebooters Guide to apply as a character for this? I see it's only seven dollars, but that's a big commitment if characters haven't been selected yet.

Hmm

Well here is where I am torn. The Freebooter's Guide has everything a player needs to know about the setting. While I hate to make people buy something if they do not want to, I am not sure how else to give the wealth of information it contains. I, and anyone else who cares to, can look for some sort of wiki, but I am not sure of what else to do.

Oh, it's not that I don't like pirates or Pathfinder... And I don't mind buying something that I will use. Oh well, it's Christmas. I could probably pick up the PDF just for my reading pleasure.

Hmm

Well, you could build out a obsidian portal page, but it means a good deal of extraneous effort. I might purchase the freebooter guide if you can assemble another two players or so. Party of four kind of helps me justify the personal buy-in.

I think Trux has a good idea here on waiting to see if we get two more players who want to go with this before committing to the PDF purchase. At the moment, it appears that we have three who are interested: Trux, Sixteen and myself.

Hmm

I would love to play in a Razor's Coast game. I have the book. It s a great setting!

This is the character I would be interested in playing although I would rebuild him as a slayer and keep with the 2-handed theme as opposed to going the TWF route as I had originally intended.

I like the open-endedness of the bounty hunter aspect, searching out clues and tracking down those who wronged him.

If my math is right, it looks like we have five plus a DM. It might be a good idea to put forth desired characters/roles like 16 did with Rata.

I'm happy to fill in any role, depending on what everyone else wants to play. In the player's guide there are two very interesting archetypes/classes, and I'd like to play either one, if possible. The first is the Scrimshaw wizard, that hurts himself to power his spells. Also the Disciple of Dajobas is similar to an inquisitor with a bit of barbarian thrown in. I'd prefer one of those two roles, but I'm easy...I'll fill in wherever the party needs.

I would be most interested in playing a caster-type: a bard, a sorcerer or an evangelist cleric. However, now that we have enough people, I will go off and purchase the players guide and see what else is there for options!

Hmm

PS Given a choice, I would prefer to start at fifth level, but am open to either.

D'aww. Rata, I thought you wanted to pop back up? We have a red haired woman and a large man with a crossbow to kill, as I remember.

I want to run some kind of rogue/skill-focused champ. I am thinking he'll be hedged in fluff as an acrobatic & daring Good-aligned sailor.

I'll pick up the setting today.

Dug out my book to give it a quick once over today, and found that the Disciple of Dajobas is an evil only class. Does the DM and group want to be neutral/ good aligned, or is there room for some lawful evil in the group? I'm fine either way.

Sovereign Court

That looks like a cool class. I'm not digging any trenches as far as alignment goes.

If level one start, what say we have just returned to port shaw after our first 'adventure'?
What kind of adventure was it?

Alright, just to recap, as of now we're looking at 20 point buy using all Paizo material, core races plus those listed in the freebooter's guide, plus any fluff/material in the freebooters guide. We still have to decide on a starting level, but that discussion is on-going.

I am interested in playing Rata Fenn here, whom I will retool as a slayer, although the details of which are still somewhat in limbo. I haven't decided between 2H and TWF (any preference from you other potential players?). I also still have to edit his background to fit with exactly where we're starting out in Razor Coast. As far as alignment is concerned, considering Rata's goal of hunting down and bringing to justice all of the crew members of the Wailing Gypsy, I could see him toying with CN and below, although I wasn't particularly planning on it.

Gerald has expressed interest in the Scrimshaw Wizard or the Disciple of Dajobas, although the latter would require a LE alignment, otherwise he is happy to fill in whichever role the party needs.

Hmm is interested in playing a caster-type: a bard, a sorcerer or an evangelist cleric.

Trux wants to run some kind of rogue/skill-focused champ. I am thinking he'll be hedged in fluff as an acrobatic & daring Good-aligned sailor. This idea could also work well with Rata's background. Maybe your character could be another survivor from the Concord?

Both Camris and Axolotl have expressed interest in the game, but have no expounded upon that interest up to this point.

Like I said, if an evil character is too dark for what everyone else is considering, that's no biggie, the Scrimshaw Fetishist wizard, or another class would be fine by me.

I think a Wizard that hurts himself would mesh well with a brooding bounty hunter and a heroic sailor type that we can cast dirty looks at the entire game. :)

I am going to stick with the TWF route with Rata and focus on dual wielding kukris and going down the intimidate/demoralize feat chain. Can't wait to get him all statted up for the game.

Sovereign Court

Well Sixteen, thanks for the summary.

Back in Barakus we have room & are set to squeeze you back in whenever you are ready.

Reading today for catch-up on the setting, for my part.

I'll start putting ideas for the wizard together, then. Does anyone know the DM? Maybe we need him to pop back in to confirm character creation rules and starting level...

Sovereign Court

Since we are still in "Write your own campaign, write your own character territory, I am curious & eager to flesh out our gang's relationships first. Then we can set the setting, level, and crunchy bits in.

-Update-
Looks like it's going to be menehune for trux. Probably some kid pulling a rumspringah. "Taming the fire"

The summery is correct. The official campaign starts at level five. I am willing to have you adventure a bit first if you want. Although, I am hesitant to start below three. I work Mon, Tues and either Thurs or Fri. I am unable to post while I am at work. Just to be clear, we would not start until at least Jan 6 because of the holidays.

Okay, so I've read through the players guide now. I love the world, and some of the races and ethnicities are really cool.

What interests me most right now are either a "Voice of Three Bard" (lots of skill points, a luck-based variant of inspire courage, etc) or an Evangelist Cleric. I am leaning towards the Evangelist since I'm not seeing a lot of divine in our line up, but I don't want to drown due to lack of skill points!

Both are really interesting to me. Any preferences?

Hmm

Both of those would be great additions to the group. Play whichever you'd prefer, IMHO. U

Sovereign Court

SO are we talking themes such as:
The shark god's great secret, ministrations of the kraken cults, deep dark dungeon delves?

or High Seas Bounties, Traitorous Merchants, Syndicate of evil, Imperialism is just unfair?

or maybe The City lives on, Scrabbling by, People of hardship, pirates and plantations?

Eyes inside S10/D16/Co12/ I10/W13/Ch16
Probably plain jane Rogue, with potential to unlock some fire sorcery if we need it later. Aikane "Rimson" Redvane could be the most-trap-dodginist gnome and a goodly, cheerful face.

Grand Lodge

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Although the luck bonuses and skill points are fun, I think I'll build the evangelist cleric -- I've never done one -- and go with a hangover cleric build.

Incidentally if someone else decides to go with the "Voice of Three" bard, there would be zero overlap in the bonuses, since luck would stack with my competence and morale bonuses.

I'm going to build for level 5, because most of this build comes online then.
Hmm

Webstore Gninja Minion

Removed a couple of posts. Play nice, please.

My initial idea is a Kamu Tulita Scrimshaw Fetishist. I think I will lean toward flashy bang bang evocation spells, since that's sort of what I think of when I think of Pirate type adventures. The more subtle Enchantment spells are for other adventures...not pirates.

With all the native tattoos of this particular brand of Tulita, I could either work at Native's Delight or be a frequent customer, of this tattoo parlor in the Silk District.

I would be slightly less antiColonist than most of the Tulita are, being more materialistic, and more accepting of living in the Port.

Sovereign Court

^Sounds like a plan, G.
I'm probably going to spec into linguistics and carry around a heavy case of traveling wonderment. Plan is I'll spec into linguistics for Tulita and be more used to traveling on board tribal skiffs than big, great, many-masted sailboats.

This is Hmm's evangelist cleric. I am likely going to have to shift around skills and such. I still haven't put her background together. That's a work in progress, too! I have a question about the availability of cure light wands to the GM. Will this be like PFS, where everyone can get those wands fairly easily?

Hangover clerics need to be able to channel negative energy, and I'm fairly feat starved. Do I need to make room in my build for versatile channeling so the group has some positive channeling available?

Hmm

This will be the chassis for Gerald's wizard. Ignore the appearance, backstory and equipment sections for now as they are copied from another character. I will get them filled in over the next couple days.

Aikane aqui.

Don't know why, but I am getting a Conan vibe for a character - I know he is a Barbarian, but I've been itching to play a fighter (yep, a fighter :D), so I may throw a bit of both, and end up with a man looking for his place in the world ;)

And for those wondering if Conan fits on board of a ship, just ask Belit ;)

Alright, unless I missed something, there seems to have been no new interest for two weekdays. I am going to call it here. Since we have no more than six players at this point, selection is easy.

Welcome to the Razor! RECRUITMENT IS CLOSED

If you have show interest, but not built a char, let me know. I will open a discussion thread shortly.
