I actually don't really get how to do this... I guess i propose a character and you look at it and stuff? Uh but im actually a pretty devoted DM, but can NEVER get a campaign off the ground, so i need to play some d&d! Or i will lose my touch. Further explanation of this process would be greatly appreciated.

I can't resist the idea of Numeria and Power Armor. Not to mention the Summoner idea seems to be reviled for reasons that I haven't looked up for fear that they would spoil the potential for wondrous ideas.

This? It's just Armor.. Right?:
(Human. Engineer. Male. Synthesist)

Part 1:
Tinkering with things was always something that he had done, ever since he was a kid. There was something about moving parts, and the way they were all part of a whole that had captivated him since he could remember. Then, he had grown up in Brevoy, apprentice to an artificer. The uncertainty of the country meant that often, they were working on instruments of harm, but it was the method that it was employed in that made it harmful, not the machinery itself. Those moving parts held such an interest to him that he gave little thought to what the things he was working on were, just that it was a joy to make them function.

A common expression from his Master was, "The only good artificer is a Gnome, m'boy! Everyone else is just aspiring to greatness!"

He could remember frowning, looking over to his Master, head tilted in thought. She was short (but then, so was any Gnome), a belt of well-used tools around her waist, and her multicolored hair hidden under her working cap. "..but Master Dainarv, does that mean I'm just aspiring as well?"

The wide smile that his master returned came without any hesitation, bright and cheerful, as was the answer. "Indeed apprentice!" Those words would have hurt, if they were not softened by her emphasis on his role under her and what she then said. "That doesn't mean that some just aspire and reach far higher than many expect."

The knowing wink that followed on the heels of her words as she turned away made it obvious to him that she was expecting great things from him. He could not let her down.

- - - -

He came into his magic during the middle of his Apprenticeship, and while he and his Master were surprised, she hid it better than he did and did not make a big deal about it. They were discussing the merits of various types of armor, and were in a heated debate over various parts when he had difficulty describing what he was seeing in his head. Hit by a spark of inspiration, he somehow just called the armor to him, smiling at his Master as he said, "This. The armor is supposed to look like this."

It was a curious set, with most of the weight focused towards the upper body, one arm augmented more than the other, what visible machinery he could see under the armor plates just barely comprehensible to him. He learned that he was able to deliver impressive attacks with that arm, if it was necessary. It was a wonder, most certainly.

Any surprise he would have felt was dashed by the mildly disdainful sniff from his Master. "Unique design, but ultimately impractical." From there on out, Magical Theory became part of his education, and his Master proved how she earned her title, as he had more work than ever, in ways he had not expected.

I think a few of your numbers are off Marconis I make your stats 16, 13, 12, 15, 18, 13 in rolled order.

I'm looking at going for a human Paladin of Grundinnar, a burly young orphan who was adopted by Letka Stonebarrow. I'll probably have him as a part time deputy and militia man and I'm thinking butcher, or baker for a primary job.

stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 6) = 16
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 5) = 16

stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 1) = 12
stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 2) = 13

I'm keeping that. I won't even reroll. Hmmm... What to play what to play...

I'll post character soon.

Ive changed my mind a bit. Going to make a shadow bloodline with tattooed sorcerer archetype. Making my dex a 17 and my wis 10

Looking at my stats rolled above, I offering a martial artist, weapon adept monk focusing on staff fighting. A deputy of the town guard, and offering training in unarmed and staff to any who want it, a slow to anger type who is known for even handed justice. And a strong right hook.

Hmmm. Well. Then I am town outcast due to race and spell like abilities. More than the average magic user. And bloodline makes me a sneaky sneak. So probably had a few run ins with law. I dont do illegal things like crime etc. But she can cause a disturbance. Darkness. Faerie fire. Etc. Not to mention her cantrips. So a bit of a trouble maker excluding crime stuff.

Here's the preliminary crunch and background for Alfons Zitter. I built him very Rogue as the background had indicated. I'm still undecided on one trait as well as one of the first level feats. Arcane Strike while mechanically strong seems a bit unfitting. I've left equipment a bit vague. I hope you get the idea but if I wanted to figure it all out it would likely take me hours so I'll get it finalized once accepted.
I tried a bit to make stats and skills to work for his actual background as a former scoundrel turned academic and now family man and business owner. His wife Gabriele I envision as a level 1 Rogue or Rogue 1/Expert 1 with high Charisma and strong social skills. Also the unnamed Gardner is a level 1 Half Orc Ranger and responsible for the families security as Alfons is somewhat paranoid.
I picture Alfons as a reluctant hero as actually he wants to be a normal family man. However he has quite a bit of Mister Hyde (self experimentation with drugs in his younger years :)) in him and a considerable criminal track record that would make quite a few River Kingdom gangster bosses blush.

"Me investigate ze crash site? But I am merely a physician..."

Alfons think of the possibilities, the knowledge and treasures possibly hidden there...

"Yes you aare right, I will take rezponsibility for ze community!

Background:

Dr. Alfons Zitter came to Grundy from Ustalav where he had held a position at Leipstedt University. The reasons for as to why Zitter left his academic career behind for the trading enclave in the river kingdoms however are unclear and cause to considerable speculation among the population.
In fact Alfons had gotten into trouble with the local authorities due to his involvement with organized crime in Ustalav. Fearing for himself but mostly for his young family he sought the protection of a geographical distance and a powerful patron in Tommy Two Tongues for whom he had been working in crafting poisons and drugs. Both lucrative side branches of Tommy’s wide spanning business network.
Zitter came to town 4 years ago with his wife and newborn child and set up shop ad practice where the doctor functions as a surgeon and apothecary. While there is talk in town about his past and rumor of illicit dealings with Tommy Two Fingers Alfons and particularly his wife Gabriele have established themselves well in the community and Gabrielle has even been voted into the town council. Alfons has recently begun teaching the towns children basics of biology and mathematics a fact that has gone quite a way to improve his reputation in town.

Personality:

In his heart Alfons is still a man of science. Even if he may have forsaken the prestigious Leipstedt University for a podunk in the middle of nowhere the Dr. is still conducting research on human anatomy and recently began with his first volume on human organs. Much of his research has been conducted in secret self-experimentation a product of which is an odd familiar, a fleshmade little critter he calls Luzifer.
Alfons comes from a lowly uprising having been born in the gutter of Caliphas. The quick and witty youth began to run on the streets and was raised a scoundrel. However his eagerness to learn and make a name of himself brought him all the way to a position at the University of Leipstedt. Much of his financial baking was earned through the support of friends in high places of the Caliphas who however expected a return on their investment. And while Alfons always sought to live the life of an honest man his tie inns with crime have followed him all the way to Grundy.
Today Alfons, now a family man, wants to leave these fears behind but the situation with Tommy whom he owes many favors, including his nice new home have left him little choice. But not only his shady business partner but also the constant conflict with the law have lead Alfons to become somewhat paranoid. Particularly the relationship to Sheriff Letka Stonebarrow, whom he and Gabriele have befriended, is a delicate one that causes good natured Alfons much chagrin.

Family and home:

Gabriele Zitter is a beautiful (and noticeably younger) woman from Leipstedt. Her charm and ingenuity are responsible for establishing Apotheke Zitter, which carries herbs, tinxtures and other remedies. It is set up in a modest but tidy venue in the village center and frequently visited by travelers, crusaders and Grundy locals alike for its premium quality and excellent service. Besides their small shop the family maintains a respectable home a bit out of town near the woods where they employ two servants. Behind the façade of the friendly young mother and businesswoman Gabriele is quite the sleuth. As early as her teens she has was a successful con artist before she met and fell in love with Albert. Now she knows just how to cover up her husband’s illicit dealings and curry favors around town. She and Alfons have a daughter by the name of Maria who is 5 years old and quite the charmer. The girl spends most of her time with her parents at the shop or at home with Gertrun the maid of the house.

Quite right, I was very tired when I done this, it has since been corrected.

Lady Ladily- Calli McDaniel looks great. Love the town drunk/lawwoman angle, I'll let you know!

XaycAnflY- The basic idea is that there are far more people wanting to play then there are wanting to run a game. So DM's have recruitment, players pitch their character ideas and DM's select the ones they like. So you do indeed propose a character, with a sheet, and a background. This Friday I'll choose the party that will play in my game, and that may include your character. Character creation rules are in the spoiler of my first post.

Me'mori- Summoners are a very powerful class that can often times overshadow other characters and raise the challenge rating of encounters to levels unreasonable for the other players. Many DM's outright ban them, but I am comfortable in my ability to balance Summoners with the rest of the group (I've done it several times already). That said your concept looks great, I'm looking forward to see how you tie him to Grundy and what your crunch looks like.

Broken Prince- Your concept sounds fun, and Letka having a child would be some great roleplay! I look forward to seeing it fleshed out!

Chillblame- Can never have enough monks (regardless of what the interwebs say). Good concept to get started with!

GrimDM- I'm excited to see Marconis's background, looking forward to it.

Also, please only roll a second set of stats if you aren't going to take your first set. And no re-rolling hit dice, just stats. I like high stats, I feel PC's should be exemplary, far above the norm.

Marconis D'monius grew up on the road, never having any memory of a childhood home. His name kept his family shunned in the lands of his birth, his family finally settled in Grundy when he was about 17, where his families lineage was either unknown, or nobody cared. His family opened a small shop there, selling home goods and traveling supplies, which he took over after his fathers passing when he was 23. With Grundy being the first and only real home he ever really knew, he has grown attached, and very defensive.

Not happy with the first set. :(

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 2) = 11 - Reroll 1d6 ⇒ 2

HP: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6,1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Background:
What is your name?
I am Zephir Franzace, but my friends call me Zeph.

How old are you?
By whose calendar? If you're going by the standard, I'm 18. If you gauge by street experience, then I am much older.

Do you have any personal goals? What are they?
At the end of a long journey, having a weapon at your side, a horse between your knees and a woman that loves you seems to be the best thing to live for. In the end though, just belonging somewhere is important. If you don't have a home, then anything else doesn't really matter. Although, finding my sister is a high priority.

Where are you from and why are you here?
I grew up on the streets of Grundy, so even though I left a few years ago, the crash brought me back. I've picked up a few things about working with metals and a touch of alchemy as well, so I figured this might lead to there being a need for what I know. If not, then I figure I can make a good living as a smith in this town with all sorts of people coming and going and needing work done. My shop may be small, but I've got help and I deal in quality.

Who is your best friend?
I would have to say that Vanderon, the woman that taught me how to use a gun and treat people with respect. She's not much older than I am, but she knows how to handle a gun and has my respect. So yes, she would be my best friend.

Who is your most potent ally?
I'm not sure I've found a true ally yet. I know I have a couple of aqaintences, but if I had to say then Vanderon would also be my more potent ally.

Who is your greatest enemy?
Grishnar, a half-orc thug who tried to press me into the service of his gang. Because I managed to escape, he took it out on my sister and her family. Her family's dead and I haven't seen her since. I want him just as dead.

Have you ever killed anyone? Who?
A couple of Grishnar's thugs, and some monstrous creatures in my journey from Alkenstar back here to Grundy.

What is your most prized possession?
I'd have to say it's a signet ring given me by my mother last time I saw her. She said it was my father's, but I haven't found anything out about it yet.

What is your most closely guarded secret?
According to my mother, my father was a nobleman, and had no heirs when he and my mother were together. I guess that would make me some kind of noble, but I definitely don't feel it.

Do you owe any debts? What are they?
Nope, I've been lucky enough to just buy what I can afford. Although, I do feel a debt of honor to Vanderon.

Do you have any old grudges? What are they?
I've been trying to forget the past and look to a new future. However, I'm sure there are a few that I ticked off here in town that aren't as lenient as I am. If Irun into them, I'll deal with it then.

What is your single greatest regret?
Leaving my home and not being there when that thug attacked my family.

Of what accomplishment are you most proud?
Having the courage to return home.

Background is now in profile.

Hey this is Chillblame. This is my character, Angelena Chillfist

Background for Angelena Chillfist
Angelina has lived in Grundy her entire life, and has long wondered about the greater world. As travelers has moved through her town, she avidly listens to tales of far away places. Then Master liang arrived. This emigrant from tien, a place very far distant enthralled her, and the master saw a kindred spirit in her. In his last years he settled in grundy, and apprenticed her. She learned the way of staff fighting, and the search for truth. When the master died, she applied to join the watch as a deputy. This took some doing, as she had been a bit of a rapscallion in her youth. But Sheriff Stonebarrow had seen that the master, who she at first had mistrusted, had molded her into something better. She, for once took a chance on Angelina. It paid off. She, with Stone barrow faced done the mob that tried to lynch mistress Almick, and is one of the few people who gets on with the reclusive wise women. She is known for a calm, purposeful approach to policing, never judging as that is not her job. Just gathers the evidence and keeps the peace. She is also known for a solid punch and blazing skill with her quarter staff, In her off hours she trains other deputies in hand to hand and staff fighting.

But she still wonders about those far off places.

I know! I'm going to have an impossible time choosing a party...

Marius Bergan- Everything looks solid, I'll let you know!

Chillblame- Angelena's background is great, but you'll be starting this adventure at level 3, not level 1.

Arknight- Those questions are great, they let me know a lot about Zeph! When you're done with his crunch, could you post a short synopsis of his background? The questions are good but I'm a little confused about the timeline of events.

GrimDM- I would like to see Marconis's background fleshed out a bit more. Why was his family name reviled? How did he develop his abilities? I would love to see a statblock sheet (Marius Bergan has an excellent example of what I'm looking for). Thanks!

My entry then!

Background:

Born and raised in Mendev, Baridan was raised among crusaders and low templars alike. However, as he grew older and saw more and more friends and family die, he began to become disillusioned about the crusade. What once seemed a grand adventure in his youth was quickly becoming a wound to his psyche.

He still felt beholden to the crusade though, but his approach to how he would help changed in time. He began assisting the local inquisitors and bounty hunters in their raids, picking up tricks that made him a great man-catcher. Though, sadly, most of the time he would only be able to cash in his bounty with a head.

After a recent bad run with a group of cultists, he has left the crusade behind, seeking a new life abroad. He worked his way south and soon wound up in the town of Grundy. There he met a kind young lass who took his fancy. Young Emrilia soothed his worried heart, and slowly over the course of months, the two fell in love.

And then that happened. Being one of the first at the site, Baridan did not see much, but as time passed more and more began to be seen through the haze and dust. Rushing back, he heralded the crash.

He assisted Emrilia in acting as a guide for greenhorn adventurers on their way to the crash and she would outfit them with ropes, rations and minor sundries. The job was easy and it paid well. For a while at least.

After one trip to the site with a small group, he sought her out but couldn't find her. Try as he might, not so much as a hair was to be found in all of Grundy. As news began to circle of similar disappearances and strange acts, Baridan donned his armor, sharpened his blade and readied his bow once more. The crash was the only logical location in his mind that she could have gone, so there is where he will go.

I'm just quietly zeroing in on what to make berry. I originally intended her as a swashbuckler but with the stats she has to her i can literllay make her anything.

That and swashbuckler is not available. :(

Thanks!

oops (blush) sorry used to starting up level 1 characters. Updating now

Ok hp for level 2 and 3
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
plus level bonus means 10 + 8 + 10=28
Awesome

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 5) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 6) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 3) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 4) = 14

Rerolls:
1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 3
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 5

So... 16, 11, 14, 9, 15, 12

Hm... Not too shabby.

You may reroll 1s

Oh, right.

1d6 ⇒ 1

Whaaaa...

1d6 ⇒ 4

16, 11, 14, 10, 15, 12

Better, now nothing's below 10.

Those scores work for pretty much anything. I'll see what I can come up with.

Backstory:
Letka Stonebarrow scowled up at the armoured woman before her, "Judd? Why do you want to know about Judd? As if I can't guess. Yes he is a paladin, but he's not the same as you heroines of Iomedae, all smite and no sight! He's a good boy, clumsy as a new foal, got the common sense of an addled badger, but he's sharper than he let's on and kind. I should know I raised him since he was ten."

The dwarven constable scowls again at the woman's words, "No, no, I don't think he's human, at least not quite. Something a bit otherworldly about the boy. He was found by a trapper in the Echo Wood as a babe, given over to that b#++& Hesha at the Hen's Tooth Inn... What? Yes, that's the one, that run down place over the southside. Woman's lazy, slothful even, used poor Judd as a virtual slave till he was ten, then she came at him with a poker over dropping some vase - a red hot poker mind - and he near killed her with a chair. B&~!! tried to have him hung, course I was not going to stand for that nonsense."

"Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, right, so he's kicked out homeless and he forms this silly little gang The Hammer Boys, they've stolen a few hammers and they are going to train and go off to become heroes of the Crusades. Boys, I ask you. Anyway, they end up causing a bit of trouble, smash up Markus Tillman's stall - turns out he never paid them for a job, though I never knew that at the time - so I go down to knock some heads together. Judd's so earnest he tells his boys to run while he holds me off with his bleeding mallet. So I knocked him out and dragged him home and I've not been able to be rid of him since..."

"Taught him a bit of stonecraft, and before I know it he's buying old Marl the Mason's shop and hired those idiot friends of his - you human's grow too fast I blink and he's gone from my height to twice that. But I also talked to him a little about the gods, religion is okay in small doses, and he seemed to latch onto Grundinnar - no bad thing to my mind. He might well be the first ever human blessed with Grundinnar's gifts."

"Hmmm, who is Grundinnar? One of the sons of Torag, he's the dwarven god of friendship and loyalty. All about community and working together. That's probably why Judd's so active around town, you mark my words he'll be a leader one day. And you haven't asked but no he's not got a girl, because he can take oblivious to new extremes - I swear Manda Rierson was waiting in his bed in the nude the other day and he fetched a cleric to see about her confusion. I've never seen a girl go so red, while he's explaining to this passing cleric of Abadar how she's mistaken his bed for her own and she's looking terribly flushed, and of course everyone except Judd knows exactly what's happened. So no he won't be joining you on the Crusades, and if you are hoping for a bit of romance you had better be prepared to settle down because you'll have to deal with shy, and clueless. But if we ever face real danger hear I know Judd will step up, and I've seen what he can do with that great ahmmer of his. He's almost enough to make an old dwarf proud."

16, 15, 15, 13, 13, 11

Spoiler:

1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 2) = 13 11
2: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 4) = 16 reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 4 15
3: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 6) = 20 16
4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 1) = 14 reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 1 reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 4 15
5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 4) = 14 reroll 1: 1d6 ⇒ 3 13
6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 3) = 16 13

First: Wow, it looks very competitive to get into this game.

Second: I love this idea for a game but i am new to PbP but lots of experience with PF. I can post every day.

Third: If I were to make a magus would you allow dervish dance?

Edit: just realize that putting 1 dice expression into the middle causes other to rerolll. I am sorry. I will just have to accept what ever the second set comes out with. Here goes.

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 5) = 13 Stat 1 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 5) = 11
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 1) = 11 Stat 2 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 1) = 16
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 5) = 16 Stat 3 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1) = 15
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 5) = 16 Stat 4 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 4) = 10
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 6) = 20 Stat 5 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 6) = 13
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 6) = 17 Stat 6 1st 4 rerolls: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) = 18

Looks like 11, 16 (6,3,6,4), 16 (4,5,6,5), 14, 17, 15

Okay so now I feel spoiled with 3 +3s, 2 +2s and no weakness. This so MAD a monk would do just fine and paladin could have a good Str, con, wis and cha. The int or dex would be icing on the cake. Still want to play magus with dervish dance if you will allow it. Otherwise I like to play a paladin.

Interested.

Rolling:
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 4) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 2) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 2) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 5) = 13

I really don't like this set, let me re-roll:

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 1) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 2) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 3) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 6) = 15

I can work with this.

Re-rolling ones:
1d6 ⇒ 3, 1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 2
1d6 ⇒ 4
1d6 ⇒ 4

Looks like a stat line of: 11, 12, 15, 14, 13, 13

Huh. I am starting to worry whatever character I build will be out classed by those with actual scores of 16 or 18.

Don't worry about maybe being outclassed you have a good stat line there and racial bonuses can help out a lot. Also I get the feeling that dm spacefighters cares more about flavor of characters rather than pure stats.

I can write a bit more on the D'monius family name, but I am not sure how to do the stat block style sheet you are looking for. If someone could PM me a how to, I would be glad to set that up.
