Welcome to town!

Here you can learn more about Grundy and the surrounding area, as well as carve your own piece of the town for yourself.

The Setting

Grundy:

A large near-independent trading town bordering the River Kingdoms and Numeria on the West Sellen River. Grundy began as a tenuous little training post right on the border between the Echo Wood and Numeria, with Ustalav just over the river. Despite it's questionable borders, it was held tightly under the thumb of the Black Marquis. But when Albert Grundy, an unusual grizzled half-elf, became mayor of the town it quickly changed for the better.
No one was quite sure how he managed to accomplish it, and he certainly isn't saying how, but Albert somehow rid the town of the Black Marquis, or anyone elses influence, and the town no longer was forced to pay tithe to the despot or any other. With such an unusually free town in so prime a location, it's population quickly skyrocketed and the town soon grew larger and larger. Grundy is quickly becoming a new stop for pilgrims headed to the crusades on their way to Castle Urion, and trade from both Numeria, Ustalav, and the River Kingdoms is constantly flowing. No one is quite sure how long the Black Marquis, let alone the Black Sovereign, is willing to let this unusual town remain free of their influence, but in the 30 years Albert Grundy has been in charge things have remained peaceful so people are willing to not ask questions.
So the town was renamed in honor of it's unusual new mayor, and in the few decades since then it has drawn a host of wildly varying residents. Treasure hunters venturing into the unusual lands of Numeria, pilgrims and holy warriors, Pathfinders and priests, Grundy has all these and more. And while it may be an unusual precarious town, many still manage to call it home.

Grundy is home to around 1,300 permanent residents. It manages to move a remarkably varied number of goods, everything from unusual relics and metals from Numeria, to various plants and regents useful to the poisoner's schools in Daggermark. The town is far from friendly neighbors save for Caste Urion to the north, with whom it conducts rigorous trade, and Grundy has learned to be very self sufficient, boasting a startling number of craftsmen and artisans. Grundy's unusual independence has drawn a large number of people from across the River Kingdoms and beyond, people with a need for privacy or asylum. It also does healthy business as one of the few "friendly" towns on the road north to the Worldwound, and many pilgrims and clerics visit the towns many inns and taverns.

There are many occupations and places for people to occupy, and Grundy is growing all the time.

Echo Wood:

Echo Wood is a forest located in north-western River Kingdoms.Known to be home to crumbling Azlanti ruins, the woodland is also home to monstrous spiders who are said to be building their nests within the ruins. Technically, the woods lie in the territory of the Protectorate of the Black Marquis, but the forest is mostly ignored by the ruler.
Kellid raiders are a constant menace, sometimes passing through the woodland in order to raid the River Kingdoms and cause problems for Grundy, but their proximity to Castle Urion usually keeps the town safe.

The Crash Site:

The area the meteor landed is in a hilly section of land between Echo Wood and Grundy in southwest Numeria. The crater created by the meteor has revealed a massive underground complex similar in structure and make to the Silver Mount in central Numeria. Damage caused by the falling meteor has caused massive damage to the structure, but rather than blowing outward, the structure has fallen in upon itself, creating a labyrinthine maze of twisted metal and dead-ends. Navigating the alien structure will be difficult enough, and it's anyone's guess as to whether or not the wreckage will even lead to the fallen star.

Town NPCs

Albert Grundy:

Albert Grundy is an old half-elf who seems to have a permanent scowl etched into his face. His eyes are light grey and usually set into a look that exudes dissatisfaction of the world around him, and his plain, drab wool clothing only adds to his general aura of unpleasantness. Albert is infamous for being the worst conversationalist in the history of Golarion, and for smoking in his ugly pipe the foulest smelling plants ever grown. Despite all of this he is the most respected man in the village, his rare few words carry great weight, and his acumen and skill at the difficult task of managing a village are unquestioned.

Brie Palbea:

Brie Palbea is the owner of the most popular tavern in Grundy, The Hungry Hobgoblin. Brie came to Grundy years ago, and it was quickly clear this small gnome did not belong in so backwater a town. Brie holds the bearing of a noble woman, it's clear to any that meet her she was once a servant to Kings or Queens, and though she refuses to speak of her past she continues to live to that standard, forging a surprisingly refined and courtly establishment. Brie has proven, much to the enjoyment of the locals, that she belongs anywhere she damn well pleases, and as long her customers don't make a mess they are welcome to enjoy her incredible culinary skill.

Pyotr Drev:

Pyotr Drev owns one of two forges that operates inside the city. Drev, as he prefers to be called, is a spindly and surprisingly bookish half-orc from Ustalav. He arrived in Numeria, drawn by rumors of the Silver Mount and the unusual metals and alien technologies, but was met with nothing but hostility and death threats. Settling into Grundy, Drev is content tinkering with the occasional piece he manages to find. An engineer of no small skill, Drev is constantly trying to reinvent the wheel, and while he has yet to make any major breakthroughs the citizens of Grundy benefit from his enthusiasm and skill, even if they have to pay a high price for it.

Tommy Two-Tongue:

Tommy Two-Tongue is the preeminent merchant in Grundy, and his sizable family operates his extensive river network, moving goods throughout the River Kingdoms to Numeria and beyond. Tommy has a surprisingly dangerous reputation for a halfling, and he and his large extended family are rumored to have numerous criminal ties. Though reports of extortion and blackmail come up from time to time in Grundy, nothing has yet to be proven. Tommy himself is an affable young man, who by all accounts seems to be generous and friendly person. Until someone wants to do business that is.

Tabitha Almick:

Tabitha is an older human with long streaks of grey piercing her honey-brown hair. Though she originally found a home in Grundy, she proved to be a skilled healer and soon found herself selling her services to the sick and injured. It wasn't long though until many began to accuse her of darker practices, of evil magics and foul rituals preformed in the dead of night. Tabitha did indeed have much knowledge of the occult, and her skill with magic was unquestioned. She soon found herself the victim of an angry mob, determined to throw her out of town. It was only through the intervention of Albert himself that quelled them. Since then Tabitha has shown a much darker side to her personality, and she has been shunned by the more superstitious members of Grundy's community. She still sells her services to those few brave enough to cross her threshold, though rumors of Albert being a constant visitor to her home still circulate wildly.

Letka Stonebarrow:

Letka Stonebarrow
Letka Stonebarrow is the sheriff of Grundy and she manages her various deputies to bring law and order to Grundy. Letka was on her way to assist in the crusades when she found herself waylaid in Grundy. It was then that she claims she received a message from Torag himself upon the stone she was sitting, that she was needed to keep Grundy safe. Many claim she was merely scared, that she hides here in Grundy to avoid facing the horror of the Worldwound, and yet any who meet this stalwart, blindingly intelligent dwarf instantly know better. Letka is a driven, organized, and dutiful public servant and is well loved within the town, even if she can be a bit overbearing at times.

The Velsiykes and The Hubbets:

The Velsiykes and the Hubbets are the owners of the two largest farms that supply most of Grundy with it's food. The Velsiykes own a large section of farmland to the north and somehow manage to scrape a large crop from the harsh plains of Numeria. The Hubbets own a section to the north-east that borders the Echo Wood controlled by the Black Marquis and though their harvest is smaller they frequently hunt the woods and sell both the skins and meat. Both families control sizable holding and many honest farm hands come north from the River Kingdoms to help during the growing season. The two families are infamous for their ongoing and constant feuding and are constantly causing trouble in Grundy, barely held in check by the authority of Albert.
