Rena laughs at that easily, not moving overmuch from her coiled relaxation. She smiles after the fact, showing a bit of teeth. "Maybe you ought to get a cane. You certainly play the part well. We should look for a cane for you while we're in town. How's that sound?" she teases him, her mouth still with that toothy smile, and flicking the little end of her tail that wasn't part of the coil in his direction.

"How long do humans spend as infants? I believe I... skipped whatever infant or larval stage I had.. or at least I do not remember anything like that anyway. My first memory is of being in the river next to someone, and I poked my head out and there was Vare." she says pensively after a moment. "I even knew how to speak and all."

"I think the important thing here is ... if there is some measure, beyond your physical age, to gauge your schooling level, that's what is needed to test against. Perhaps Vare can help there too-- seeing as you and he are fairly tight, you know?"

Glancing over at her he chuckles and then says with a smile, "Get my cane on, huh? Lovely. That might require a full outfit upgrade or something. You know what I really need? Someone savvy in the ways of this world, who's got an abundance of free time-- or if, yeah, that might work." There's a sparkle in his eyes and a grin, looking off as something else potential comes up.

"You'd think someone who can teleport would be faster... maybe the sword's stuck in a rock. Think she can just teleport back to us once we move? Maybe we can play tag or something." Another grin.

Almost as if in answer to the grief being given in her name, Vai reappears with that charactaristic burst of light, an elegantly crafted rapier now hanging at her side. The hilt is silver and gold inlaid with what looks like opal, and the guard is quite elaborate. The sheath is a simple hard leather sheath. The sheath hangs from a the belt which are now holding up Vai's black trousers - apparently she decided to switch out from the green skirt she had been wearing previously.

"Sorry that took so long, my brother must have switched the enchantment on my wardrobe to make a mess of things. I had to dig through it to get to the sword. I've never actually used it, since we use practice swords at fencing club." she says apologeticaly. "So, are we walking?" she asks curiously, not seeming to care either way.

"Let's just take the skimmer. It's a hovercar," she explained. "In case we end up bringing the child back with us, that will be much more convenient."

"Quite. I do not believe I've ever ridden on a hovercar before. Haven't even seen one up close." Vare says with a nod, waiting for Ephebe to lead the way.

So.. fairly certain that this NPC of Tybs' is just an NPC. We can skip that part if you want.

Yeah, he said he'd rather handwave that conversation with the npc. So if you want we can play out more of the conversation between Vare and Ephebe on the way there, or we can just skip it altogether.

I'm here and bored so feel free to play out. ^_^

Privately to High Seer Denulia, ::I know what it's like to make big mistakes with a lot on the line. I've been given more second chances than I probably deserved. "Right now we don't know her real name. She went by Kara, but that's most likely a lie. We don't know if she's possessed by a demon, being forced to work for a demon, trafficking with demons of her own free will, or a demon herself. If it's the last one, I respectfully request permission to rip her throat out. Just because I'm trying not to let my instincts rule over me doesn't mean they're always wrong, and if she's a demon I'm pretty sure that's an appropriate response. There's a good chance she can change her shape and maybe even her scent and we have no idea where she went or what she is or who she'll attack next. We could really use some advice. Right now we don't even know how to look for her."

I was hoping you know the keyboards Ace. And i am goin to need help with those ogres. I need to teach them drums to match our style. I feel bad turning them away so i thought we could work with them. Also give them a chance to perform solo their own unique way.

Mel's excitement about music has returned. She looks to Ginni and Ace, i have been working on school radio system and our first gig is to record an album.

"I don't know, Mel. The harp kinda fills that keyboard niche pretty well for us, and we might struggle without a bass. But it's definitely up to you. The good thing about working with Zren and Rikken is that they're friends with Vai. But if it doesnt work out, I don't think they'll take it personal. They're pretty even tempered overall."

Kezzin smiles broadly, displaying a mouth full of wickedly sharp teeth, and nods enthusiastically, "Of course! Though I have no ability with magic of any kind, I have noticed that music has a magic all its own. I spent some time listening to some, and settled on the violin as my first conquest." As he is speaking, Kezzin wipes his hands carefully on a napkin then hands the case to Fieri. "I found this stuffed in a dusty corner of the library's music archives. It was covered in a deep layer of dust and was tucked in behind one of the stacks. I felt sorry for it, so I looked up how to have it made playable after a long storage."

The violin inside the case is indeed old. It is of very good quality, definitely a masterpiece, though not of the very best. On the back, under the varnish, is a dedication:

"Renard, perhaps this can fill the lonely hours. All my love. Goodbye, S.K."

"You shouldn't apologize for being excited. Maybe Vai can take bass sometimes on the harp...I bet it could be played that way. Maybe we change it up depending on the song? I mean, can you imagine how good those weird instruments the twins play would sound on a ballad? It's good to be excited. And I think all of us probably have different ideas about how things sound...I think the main thing we need to do first is all get together and just figure out how things really sound when we all put them together....which scares me, but I really want to try to play with everyone...especially since you're all people I like and trust."

Having been granted permission, Fieri gently touched the bow to the strings beginning with a simple warm up scale to gauge the responsiveness of the instrument before beginning to play a mournful tune, a complicated yet delicate requiem designed to bring tears to the eyes of any listeners.

As Fieri continues to play the tune, Ardiente fully turns away, his body and all, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. So much for his pride and manliness. Vai seems to relax as they walk along though, and eventually the foot-in-the-mouth moment is forgotten, she has an easy gait, though she seems to alternate staring at the ground and looking out ahead. With the rapier hanging loosely at her side and the white shirt, she's the spitting image of any number of female swashbucklers - though her loose hair would probably be impractical in a fight.
