He loosed the arrow at the orc on his far right the high pitched shrill of the feathering and vane letting the orcs know that there was an archer nearby... a very accurate one too.
Anchard Wulfphear |
"Hold the line here, we don't know what dangers are deeper in the keep!." Anchard moves up along side his dwarven associate as he casts bless on all his allies.
Shortnose. |
"Outta'f ta way!" Shortnose says when the dwarf and other human form a defensible line to stop the orcs. With no time to think of the consequences, he just use his body-mass to push the man out of his way.
CMB: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 12 And since the cleric surprisingly have CMD 10, I can push him! Mwuahahah! Also, guess you can AoO, if you find my actions dubious. Shortnose AC after the charge is 20.
Immediately after pushing the man, coming to a complete stop, the warrior turn in his reels, holding the shield in a defensible position, completing the same line of defense the cleric tried to do before.
Charge + Bullrush, to push Anchard back and take his place in the defensible line.

Nothing but trouble I tell ya. These bumpkin mercenaries Alistair shakes his head in disapproval and sighs as he produces his rapier and begins to do his pantented fancy footwork.

The orcs charge at the makeshift shield wall just not being able to reach the party to attack during this turn, while one of the bigger orcs peels off towards the left...
@Cerian- two of the orcs have positioned themselves behind the statues at the front gate and have cover.

Can we know the result of the Grease before posting the action? If they fall, I would move forward and attack, but if they are left standing, I think it's best to wait for the enemies to come to us. That way, the ones behind are forced to go around or enter the grease area to attack us.
GM Qwerty |
Alistair dances around and casts a spell on the front orcs before moving to the other damaged wall...

oh wow, guess it is better for them to get 20s here than on an attack
Even though there are standing in grease the orcs manage to stay upright...
While the orcs are trying to stay upright to attack Cerian sends another arrow into the purple orc bloodying him again but not putting him down...

"Let me know if you'd like me to set you aflame stranger, it would be no problem." Anchard says annoyed at being pushed. "Oh and do take a step back if you wish to not be set on fire. Just as easily the purifying flames of Jerome my spare you the inconvenience of burning flesh."
Anchard is delaying action

I just noticed I didn't answer Anchard flaming threat. Let me just add one more line here.
Shortnose Raises an eyebrow at the blatant threat and is not impressed, but he steps out of the way, with a smile.
His smile clearly says: Have it your way.
Taking one step to the side, which should still make me able to attack, and should allow Anchard to get in melee distance with the orcs as well.

Still delaying

The brown colored orc (not in the grease) moves to cover behind the broken tower wall concealing him from Cerians viewpoint up on the wall. The two orcs in the grease move forward to attack
Purple REF: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Yellow REF: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
and the purple one falls down trying to leave the grease area however the yellow one succeeds in staying afoot only to be cut down by the newcomer as he tries to balance...
The Blue one is larger than the others and is trying to sneak in over the rubble on the flank...
The Red orc makes a dash to the broken tower outside of the teams view...
he is an orog much like the red one still out of combat. Orogs are tougher and stronger than regular orcs, often times called elite orcs

Sir Pricklepants, these ugly ones aren't actually works all, theyre orogs, nastier sons of b*!#~es, we ought to prioritize taking them down
Is there anything else to know about Orogs?
Anchard Wulfphear |
Anchard moves closer to Alistair but keeps his attention divided between approaches, readying his crossbow at the first standing orc to present itself to an unobstructed shot.
Alistair Maxwell |
Alistair casts grease once more, this time on the rocks the Orogs would have to cross to get back here.
He then places his mace back in his hand and waits.

GM Qwerty |
@Shortnose- yes the portion in my post a few above about the newcomer striking down the orc was you cutting him down. you have no orc to your front right now so you just struck at the already dead orc. the other orc in the grease fell down trying to move but is out of reach.

He fired again quickly cursing at the terrible angle on the orc still in the grease. The others orc was probably just about across to the rubble so he moved to the edge of the wall and leapt across the gap moving to the far wall to get an angle on the flanking orc.
GM Qwerty |
The pink orc dodges the arrow from Cerian and then crawls out of the grease spot towards safety illiciting an AoO but no one is within reach of him... the orog on the right flank motions for the brown orc to charge through the gap first...

The brown orc steps over the rubble at the urging of one of the orogs and as he negotiates the slippery footing of the rubble he gets cut down by the combined blows of the newcomer and the dancing bard.
"હું તમને જીવંત ત્વચા પર લશ્કર સાથે પાછા આવે છે ત્યારે!"
"I shall return with a Warband to skin you all alive!"
Is heard by two fleeing foes...
combat over, just the bard, the archer, the cleric, and inquisitor and the newcomer...
Shortnose. |
”Ain’t that great?” the newcomer smiles after the battle was on, fortunately with no damage to their side.
”Shortnose. Sell sword, currently unemployed and you just met part of the band that made me lose my job. Not that the job was great, mind you, but well, shame some of the other folks passed away.” he says extending a hand, to whoever is near him.
Anchard Wulfphear |
"You're fortunate that we were in the area then. What was it your job had you out here for in the first place?" Anchard meets Shortnose's hand with his own. "Anchard."
Alistair Maxwell |
Alistair sniffs at shortnose.
And apparently they don't have soap where you come from. I don't know Anchard can we really trust some dude who just walked out of the woods and brought orcs with him?
Shortnose. |
"Hey, wasn't I that brought them over, they brought themselves!" he says stating the truth.
”Meself was just runnin’, and runnin and you happen to be on me path. Told ya ta run too, but when you decided to stand and fight, I wasn’t going to let you fight alone, bein’ myself that brought the orcs and all.”
”Job? Caravan guard.” he says with a shrug and then adds ”If you looking for some profit, we may try to savage goods from them orcs, but that means fighting the rest of the band.”
Cerian Screamingtrees |
Our business lies within this rubble we believe so that may be the case regardless friend. It seems we may now have time constraints shall we get to business then?
He said simply slipping down from the wall to see if any of his arrows were recoverable.

”Right! Right! What ‘bout a trade?” he says to the elf and then continues ”Mind you, not saying they aren’t fit fer battle.” he says pointing to the others ”but they seems ill fitted ta face monster tooth-per-tooth. Me? I can fill that place! Nothing, well, almost nothing get past this beauty here.” he says petting his shield "at least till we get to some civilized place. Dinnae want ta run into more orcs alone.”
Shortnose. |
Taking the silence of his newfound allies by agreement, Shortnose fiddles with his shield and then walk to the ruins.
”Explore those?” he says scratching his chin and then moves to the door.
Raising his shield in front of him, he uses the sword to open the door, ready to jump of harm’s way if there’s some sort of trap in wait.
Open the door and see what’s inside the ruins.
Alistair Maxwell |
Alistair follows behind a step or two. Now that theres a bundle of muscle in the party, no need for the opera singer to get his sword wet.

Shortnose takes the lead trying to prove himself to the group. Beyond the double doors is a small dark hall. Littered with mounds of debris and a year’s worth of dead leaves, it is clear that a narrow path winds inside. Past the entry Shortnose can see what seems to be a room with pews.
