Bending down to pick up the wayang, Aelwynd explains his reasoning, "Don't enter that yet. I think we need to decipher each bar and then set the dial accordingly next to it, if I am getting this right."

"The first bar reads 'A broken sword is reborn in knight-saving blood so that Absalom might withstand evil' so that is somehow the combination to the first bar. We decipher each bar in order and it looks like that would open the door. Of course how we break up each line into her acts, that looks to be the tough part. Just focus on the first bar."

A broken sword reborn=6, in knight saving blood=9(Sounds like 9), so that Absalom might withstand evil=? then blank? I'm going out with the wife for the day, but I will check back in later.

So, I am thinking

6-9-7-*
*-*-4-8 or *-4-8-* or 4-8-*-*
1-3-1-1
5-2-1-0

* = blank space on the dial

I had some time at work, so I spent an hour or so on this. I usually take too much time to solve these at a table, so I feel like I am helping out this time around. Of course, its right at the time I feel pretty confident that someone points out a huge flaw in my logic. Fingers crossed.

Prism DC 20 Craft Alchemy, Knowledge Planes or Religion, Spellcraft:
This device acts as battery of pure good energy. PC can use a sacred prism to augment spells he casts with the good descriptor, expending 2 charges to increase the spell’s caster level by 1, 4 charges to increase the caster level by 2, or 8 charges to increase the caster level by 3. A PC can also throw a prism as a splash weapon that destroys the prism and replicates a holy smite spell (Will DC 16) with a caster level equal to the number of remaining charges.

A PC can recharge a prism in several ways. The prism absorbs spells with the good descriptor cast directly at it, regaining a number of charges equal to the spell’s level. When affected by a channel energy effect augmented by the Alignment Channel feat to harm evil outsiders or heal good outsiders, a prism regains a number of charges equal to the number of dice the PC would roll for the effect. Finally, a good-aligned creature can grasp a prism and concentrate as a full-round action to restore 1d4 charges, though doing so also gives the PC 1 temporary negative level for 24 hours. Prisms cannot hold more than 8 charges. You believe this one has about 6

You do not perceive any traps on the door, and does not seem that you can disable the door.

...then his eyes light up and he seems to be rather happy at the thought of something...

"Is there a trap I just didn't see? From all the brilliant figurings going on we are bound to figure this out eventually, but they wouldn't have designed a door like this to just be fiddled with endlessly without some sort of consequences for a failed attempt... oh the possibilities! I LOVE it!"

"So from some figuring of my own, coupled with the logic Ariana and Caduceus have brought so far, and not to be discounting Ghukar's first thoughts, I'd like to hear from everyone else before I set the dials, and toss the lever. Or I could just set them now and toss the lever, hoping my luck holds out! Feel free to open the spoiler as Aelwynd explains it to everyone.

Ok, I had some more time to look it over and I agree with Caduceus. I believe the second bar is definitely 4,8,*,* because I don't think they would have started with any blanks, since they are Iomedae's Acts and too important. The clue on the bar immediately leads to 4 and then directly to 8. And that completes the acts! It was pretty plain once you put them in order. Nice job.

"Before you leave good guardians, I would ask one favor if you would be so kind. Would you bless us with your magic and cast aid upon our group so that we might better serve the gods and finish our task here in this tower?" Aelwynd says as humbly as he can.

The hound archon looks down at Alewynd and gives what can only be guessed as a smirk. We could, but will not. If this to be a task by Iomedae herself. She would want you to accomplish this on your own.

With that, they disappear into thin air.

Going back through the tower, the group heads down a narrow corridor and into another room.

Two long countertops and a workbench occupy this workshop. The work surfaces are covered with religious symbols, quills, broken glass, and small metal components as well as with dusty alchemical supplies that have not seen use in years. A niche in the southeast wall holds a gold capped prism that glows with blue-white light. Doors lead to the north, south, and east, and a heavier iron door stands in the room’s northwest corner.

Several items lie scattered about this room under a thick coat of dust.

These include two funnels, 3 potions, and a flask. The sacred prism here holds four charges.

Ghukar reach into his belt pouch and drank a small vial. Looking at the funnels, the wayang reached into his pack and a similar funnel was pulled out. "This funnel is handy if you want to mix in two alchemical items, like fire and acid. And this, I believe Lin Kai and I are the only ones here that can use it. It helps to keep extracts that fresh and safe."

When Ariana suggests north, Aelwynd readily agrees. He checks for traps on the door, and then he seems to pause in thought for a moment...

We just found creatures in the last room, trapped by the barrier. Perhaps there are more things besides traps or wards to be aware of. I best make sure.

Five cots line the west wall of this barracks. A dusty table, counters, and a hearth share the east side of the room.

The tower’s occupants used this room as their living quarters, and except for a layer of dust, the space remains clean and organized. The hearth’s chimney vents into a pipe that runs along the ceiling and through the south wall. While searching the room, a PC uncovers a small diary hidden under one of the cot mattresses.

The next hand out has been uncovered.

Moving to the room to the south.

A large forge flanked by large bellows dominates the east wall, though they and the nearby anvil are caked in soot. Half-full weapon racks hold an assortment of daggers, spears, and swords, and low piles of arrowheads, coal, and metal ingots line the southwest wall.

In the armory you find a set of bolts and some stone. You also find a set of stell pauldrons with the image of charging bulls.

I picked up and moved everyone into the room with me on the map since the icons were still all in the hall near the entrance. Feel free to arrange yourselves how you see fit, but I just figured we were most likely all back together. Moving on...

"Should we try charging these prisms up? We may need them charged to use or figure out the weapon... The archon did say they powered it after all." he says questioningly.

"He also said they powered the defenses, so as we are taking them the defenses are shutting down. That is just what Ghukar surmised earlier before I took the first one."

When they find the diary... Aelwynd asks Kai, "You mind reading this and seeing if there is anything in it about the weapon and how to work it?"

Aelwynd then proceeds to check the next door for traps, and after his surprise meeting of the hound archons, thinks better and also listens to the door for creatures on the other side...

Kargen examines the items they pull out of the weapon and armor racks. "Not sure about the bolts and sling stones, but these attach to armor and help you bullrush an opponent." He points to the bull iconography. "With the force of a charging bull, evidently."

The archer reads the journal over Kai's shoulder. "This seems like it was written by Ghalcor himself. And he speaks of charging up the prisms, Aelwynd, so perhaps your instinct is correct. There could be defenses that we need to overcome with them."

"I can cast a few spells' power into them to help, but not a lot."

He then wanders over to Aelwynd, just as he is handed the book. He studies it carefully, while Kargen reads over his shoulder. "He did not seem to be making much sense by this time, but the prisms clearly are key." He continues to flip through the book, looking for other clues, especially on the weapon.

While Kai is having a field day with the wand to see what it is that they found he moves together with the rest to the next location. It was an interesting place for sure, and one still so well preserved in the worldwound made it for the paladin a fine event to see. While Kai is examining the bolts and stones, Kargen takes one of the prisms. "So, each prism can hold 8 charges? And we have one with 6, and two with 4 each." He lifts one up and shrugs. "Well, let's see if it works."

He calls on Erastil's faith and casts a spell into the prism.

Casting Protection from Evil into one of the prisms with 4 charges.
