Jan watches as this all goes on and keeps his eyes peeled.
"The gem looks interesting..." Jan says as he cannot think of anything more interesting at this point. He walks over to the gem to have a closer look at it.

DM Kludde |

The gem is a cut alexandrite, a very valuable gemstone by itself, and enhanced with a magical light. Also on the desk are stacks and stacks of paper written in a strange, encrypted writing. There is no doubt that these papers are a fundamental find, but also one that might take years to decipher.

![]() |

Gustav rifles through some of the pages, trying to find anything useful before beginning to pack it up.
If we act quickly, perhaps we'll set out for the Lodge before Sir Reinhart dies or deifies.

"Pretty gem. It dances with light!"
The gnome handles the gem with care and delight attempting to discern its magical properties.

"Sounds good to me," Nikolai says, beginning to grab the papers and stuff them in his bag. Who knows, maybe there's something useful on these for Guaril. I should keep my eyes open; if it's valuable enough, maybe he'll let bygones be bygones, and I can stop dancing to his tune. As a result, Nikolai keeps an eye open for anything that appears to be financial in nature in the encoded sheets.

DM Kludde |

Line quickly realises that the gem is just a mundane item with a continual light spell cast upon it. Nikolai tries to make sense of the papers, but the script is so heavily encoded that he cannot make heads nor tails of it. From outside, the faint sound of footsteps and talking can be heard.

![]() |

Nikolai's head snaps up as he hears people approaching. "Crap, parishioners," he says, tossing the stack of papers back onto the desk. "Keep gathering stuff, I'm going to make sure they don't lock us in here or anything." He hustles down the corridor towards the noises.

DM Kludde |

Gustav starts packing up, as Nikolai heads for the exit. In the shrine, three armed folk have entered: a dwarf, an elf and a halfling. Upon seeing Nikolai, the dwarf says Drats, we're not alone. Kill that one, make sure we have no witnesses!
For convenience, I put you all close to Nikolai. If you feel that you should be further inside the cave, move your token.

Abaal: if you intend to demoralise, tell me who you address.
Abaal threatens the new arrivals as Droogami sneaks his way up. Gustav summons the help of his minion. From out of nowhere, soft-paw moves in and sinks his sharp teeth into the halfling, which proves to be more than the intruder can handle. Nikolai moves in as well.

Though the dwarf is protected by an illusory double, both Samuel and Droogami see through the veil: Samuel's shot finds its ways into the dwarf's vital organs, weakening him enough for the animal companion to overpower the short-statured cleric, throw him on the ground, and finish him off.
Abaal has his sight set of the weapon of the elf, and almost manages to break it. Jan's bullet whizzes by the pointy ears of the elf, and Nikolai swipes at the gaunt archer, but misses.

Minion finally reaches the elf, and creates a large gash across the chest of the pointy-eared male. The elf is reeling, but defiant which only last until Soft-Paw comes in to finish the job, leaving the elf bleeding on the floor, the sylvan blood gushing out with each passing second.
Combat over
Outside, Sir Reinhart has not fared much better. His heroic jump across the chasm has ended in disaster and a plunge into oblivion, as well induction into the shrine.
The crowd gathered around the starstone cathedral starts to disperse, disappointed. The pathfinder manage to make their way to the Grand Lodge with ease, where they find an excited Drengle Drang. Such an important find! Selmius Foster! Great job, a great job you did in recovering. Expect many more assignments in the future!
Not long after, the first result from the cypher-breakers start to come in (See handout), written by none other than Ambrus Valsin himself.
Congratulations! You've made it to the end of the Wounded Wisp. Chronicle sheets are ready and can be downloaded here (link). Let me know if everything is ok, and thanks a lot for playing!

...or at least that's what Nikolai would have done if Soft-Paw had not dropped the crazed cultist. Instead, he simply sends the cultist to meet his god with a well-placed kick to the temple with his iron-tipped boot. He kneels down and starts going through the cultist's things, taking his coinpurse and anything else that looks valuable.
As the crowds mill away with disinterest, Nikolai shakes his head. "What the Hell did they think was going to happen?" he wonders aloud. "The Starstone's been here for a long time. Only three people have succeeded at the trial in that time, and we don't even know who one of them used to be. Why would this fop with a branchless family tree succeed? And what was he going to be the god of, exactly, hubris?"
A few days later, he finds the missive from Valsin, and allows himself a small smile. That quickly fades as he notices a second note, laying beneath the first. It's written in Varisian, and that alone makes his heart sink. "Cousin," it says, as he begins to read it. "I've heard of your recent success in recovering an actual lead on the Sky Key, right under our noses. The Vancaskerkin name is known to me, as your family has a remarkable ability to be exactly where they need to be as momentous events occur. I think you have wallowed away in the depths of the Grand Lodge long enough, and the find you made in the Wisp only confirms this. I have need of your skills, Niko. Someone who knows how to fight. Who knows how to extract information. Someone who knows how to disappear. And, most importantly, someone who would do anything to make sure my contacts in Kaer Maga don't learn what ever became of 'poor Niko'. I see a long future for the two of us, Niko. Don't fail me."
There is no signature to the letter, but there doesn't need to be. Nikolai sits back on his bed as he feels the strings of the Sczarni tying around him again. He knows he has no choice in the matter - he will dance to Uncle Guaril's tune, or he will end up back in Kaer Maga, given over to his enemies. "How does this always happen to my family?", he asks to no one, burying his head in his hands.

Thank you, Kludde. I had a great time! Chronicle received and good to go.

![]() |

Hey Kludde, thanks for another great game. The chronicle sheet for Samuel needs to be changed. He is actually level 2. I realized this just after we started and updated his sheet on here.

![]() |

I don't believe I have the chronicle...forgot which email I've given you for it.

DM Kludde |

I've put them all online here (link).

Of sorry. I missed that :p Good game btw. Last time I did this the group wasn't too good as we had almost NO social skills.
