DM Kludde |
Please check the maps and handouts (linked above). After you've uploaded your token and entered your initiative, check the two handouts: for this adventure, your character receives some mythic power. If you have played Destiny II, you should use the powers on your chronicle, otherwise, please use the powers in your handout. In any case, I need you to choose two mythic abilities and list them here.
If you own the Mythic Adventures book, you can grant your character the mythic tiers described on the chronicle instead.
Alek Stormcrow |
Dotting! Would you like me to list my companion's Initiative bonus separately? Or do you just use the PC's init bonus?
Piroth |
Dotting. Cant edit the sheet from my phone. But my init would be 1d20+4. And Im picking Absorb Blow and Legendary Magic powers from the parts 2 chronicle.
Alek Stormcrow |
Ulfen...Male...Competent...Married? Oh my..
LOL! Oh boy... Also, for Alek I chose Heroic Warrior and Heroic Speed. I will update my stat bar to reflect the changes from the Mythic Tiers!
DM Kludde |
We've had one drop, and the final player didn't reply so far. I'm fine with rolling with four, so I'll start as soon as you are all mythic.
Darvik Willowbrook |
Oh, mythic? I'll have to figure that out later tonight. I'll still trying to get organized after vacation.
DM Kludde |
Depends on whether you have the Destiny II chronicle for this character. There's basically three possibilities:
(1) If you don't have the DII chronicles: it's relatively simple: just use the description found on the handout (linked above).
(2) If your character has the DII chronicles, you have two choices: use the description on the chronicle sheets (which is very similar to the one on the handout), or
(3) IF you possess a copy of mythic adventures AND you have the DII chronicles, you can give yourself three mythic tiers.
Cases 1 and 2 are pretty simple, 3 is more involved.
Darvik Willowbrook |
I do have the chronicle so I'm good. I just need to update my header to account for the extra HP, etc. and choose my two powers I guess.
DM Kludde |
The growing light of predawn filters in through a window of the two-story building that Amenopheus has rented in Eto, and the aging Garundi man takes a seat on one of the cushions set out for this meeting. He produces a sealed letter from his robe, placing it in the middle of the floor before speaking.
“Good morning, Pathfinders. As you know, we have had our share of setbacks recently. Not only have the emerald and topaz gems sacred to my order slipped through our fingers, but we also faced the frustration of finding nothing but fragments of the once great ruby. Thankfully, its power is not lost entirely, and through the Ruby Sage’s blessing, it lives on in you. I am thankful that you have agreed to act on her behalf and see this through to the end.
“As we speak, the scoundrels who seized the two gems cross the Pillars of the Sun to meet their employer, the cryptic Diamond Sage.” He sighs heavily. “What she intends to do with the gems is a mystery, but the sage jewels are too important for me to take risks with. If the power that you wield is representative of a shattered jewel’s potential, imagine what one might accomplish with three undamaged stones! Until we know what her plans are, it is paramount that we get to the jewels first.
“Kafar and Nefti have a rudimentary map of the Pillars of the Sun, and last night I found a bartender who spotted them poring over it between drinks. She recalled little of the map, and she could not make sense of the marks or annotations; however, the right spells have allowed me to probe her mind and determine Kafar and Nefti’s entry point into the mountains. We will follow them from there.” With a somewhat chagrined smile, Amenopheus adds, “It may be that they will lead us to the Sanctum of the Sages, a hidden complex I have long suspected might be in this area.”
He stands and announces, “Prepare yourselves quickly. We shall leave momentarily.”
Ask your questions or roll knowledge checks. You've also received a letter from Norden Balentiir, the VC of Sothis - See the handouts.
Olga the Unmarried |
Right! Questions!
Olga says, as she excitedly bounces on her feet... A small, slightly obese woman with long, curly red hair and a round face. Her backpack is bulging with all kinds of cooking supplies and her clothes are more fitting for an expedition in the harsh lands of the north than the deserts of Osirion. Nonetheless she seems in good spirits and shyly glances at Alek everyonce in a while.
Let's start off with the important part, you think? So, where are we goin'!?
DM Kludde |
“The Pillars of the Sun are a mountain range south of Eto inhabited by many terrible creatures. It is a dangerous area of harsh desert and barren, rocky terrain, full of cliffs
and chasms.”
Eto is in Osirion, if you hadn't guessed :)
DM Kludde |
The desert is rife with creatures that survive in arid climates, and since we're chasing Kafar and Nefti, we can expect them to be an obstacle at some points as well.
Piroth |
The little tiefling casually looks up from the nails he was carefully studying.
Desert, you say? How long do we expect to be travelling through this desert and do we have a bit of time to prepare? The heat doesn't bother me too much, but the Ulfen's over there might not be too used to it.
If we have time, I would like to buy a couple of scrolls of endure elements or a hot-weather outfit if there is less time. Will happily cast on anyone else who feels the need for it.
Olga the Unmarried |
And the presence of all these hot men is not helping at all! Oh my!
Heat, you say? Yes, you are probably right you see. I will reimburse whatever magic you deem necessary, friend half-demon! I have learned to trust magicks, you see! I used to be scared of magicks, you see! And then I discovered I could use wands, you see! I even have this 'happy healing stick' a nice wizard sold me!
*proceeds to show off wand of infernal healing*
DM Kludde |
Eto is a large enough city, you can buy supplies. Amenopheus gets a bit nervous, though, and doesn't want to tarry too long.
You can buy whatever you want
One the party is ready, Amenopheus signals for everybody to hold on, and he teleports the group to the pillars of the sun.
The Pillars of the Sun are a desert mountain range south of Eto. Its terrain is rocky and arid, cut by profound chasms and colossal precipices. The sun is just peeking over the horizon of the rocky and arid terrain that is the pillars of the sun. The first traces of Kafar and Nefti's trail are found easily.
You are especially efficient at following the tracks. (This will have effects later)
Temperatures continue to rise all through the morning, and after four hours of travel, the group reaches a place where the winding path through the spires splits.
It looks like Kafar and Nefti split up here Amenopheus says. I suggest we split up here: you take the western route, while I investigate the eastern path. Good luck to you!
The adventurers path leads them to a series of switchbacks that ascend the steep side of a gorge, and approximately one hour after Amenopheus’s departure, they reach an immense cliff where the tracks simply end.
Please each make two fortitude saves against the heat
There is a crevice in the rock face that leads to a trap door that descends deep underground.
Darvik Willowbrook |
Darvik will purchase a wand of Endure Elements for use in the desert. He'll share with everyone as needed. Seems I'm always being sent to the edges of the earth, I might as well have it all the time.
Save your money/scrolls. We'll use the wand when needed.

DM Kludde |
Olga, Piroth, can you tell me which abilities from the mythic template you choose?
Endure elements takes care of the heat
Alek Stormcrow |
Hey all, sorry for the delay! My home PC took a dump yesterday, so using my work computer for now.
Survival DC 21: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29+1 if for following Tracks.
Alek thanks Darvik for his offer to purchase the Endure Elements wands, especially so once they venture out into the heat of the desert. "What a terrible land. Why would anyone choose such a place to live?" He squints across the wasteland as they split ways from their deputized venture captain...
Once at the cliff, Alek begins to look around for any point of access... "There is no way he could have simply vanished..." He absently scratches behind Cinder's ears as the wolf sniffs the air. "Cinder, sniff him out boy!" The wolf begins to sniff around the area while Alek looks about as well, taking his time to check for anything obvious.
Cinder Survival Aid Another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Take 20 on Survival if allowed, if not then Take 10 w/ a +2 bonus from Cinder. Total bonus for Take 20 is 32. Total bonus for Take 10 is 22.
Piroth |
I'm picking Absorb Blow and Legendary Magic from the Part 2 Chronicle
Piroth follows the rest of the group as they seem to have a better handle than him when it comes to following tracks.
"Some people and races thrive better in warmth than in cold. I'm sure they'd say the same about where you come from." He smiles at the Ulfen man.
"Looks like you've found our "friends" path. Any volunteers to try and open the door? Might want to check it for any nasty surprises first."
Alek Stormcrow |
Alek grins at Piroth's comment. "This is probably true, though, I am not native to the lands of my ancestors. I was raised in the Darkmoon Vale in northern Andoran, but I do see your point." He examines the doorway with concern. "That is a good idea. Are any of you skilled at such things? I am not..."
Just realized, we don't have a skill monkey in our group.
DM Kludde |
The hidden door leads to a roughly hewn tunnel, which descend into a long underground gallery.
Enigmatic hieroglyphs cover just about every surface of this chamber excavated into the mountain. Bas-relief engravings stretch along the walls all the way from the lofty, tapered ceiling down to floor level, their eerie pictography suggesting an unnerving story. Toppled columns, crumbling shreds of cloth, and potsherds scattered throughout the chamber attest to the place’s abandonment and antiquity. Small holes in the vaulted ceiling let in thin beams of sunlight but do little to illuminate the chamber.
Alek Stormcrow |
Alek examines the walls, trying to decipher the strange story they depict. "What a strange place... I wonder how old it might be?" He picks up a small piece of debris and casts a simple light spell upon the object to allow them to see better. He then unsheathes his falchion and keeps the weapon in hand.

Alex turns on the light, and suddenly the cave is teeming with undead, as well as two strange blue beasts lurking behind two of the pillars.

Olga the Unmarried |
Olga sniffs the air, as if pumping herself up for something. She then shouts loudly:
Noone be comin' between me an' me Alek! He's a good lad, you see!? Nowhere to be going but by his side, you see!? An'if anyone but touch him I'll show you all who is boss, you see!!
While pulling out a large rolling pin-like weapon from under her beltand tapping it into her open palm.
Grab bodyguard as a move action using marital flexibility, use other move action to grab Dan Bong (oddly shaped like a rolling pin with a leather straps attached). Then enter Grabbing Style as a swift.
then she uses one mythic power for amazing initiative, giving her an extra standard action this round that she uses to ready a grapple combat maneuver on the first target in reach, including a 5ft-step if necessary. [EDIT:]MP10/11
Olga looks madly around to the first target that could harm 'her' Alek, rolling pin menacingly twisting circles in the air.
Alek Stormcrow |
Added Cinderpaw's icon to the handout and map.
Alek looks at Olga for a moment, then shakes his head with a bemused smile as he moves forward to engage the nearest undead. "Cinder, come!" As the duo moves forward, Alek's muscles suddenly begin to fill out and his face takes on a slight bull-like appearance. Once in range, both Alek and Cinderpaw lash out at the foul undead.

Forgot to mention. Piroth will use saving shield to give +2 shield bonus to AC on the first attack on Olga or Darvik if they are adjacent to me when it happens.
DM Kludde |
Piroth casts a defensive spell. Alex engages the skeleton with Cinderpaw, and in the fury of their blows, the skeleton is smashes to pieces. Darvik charges the blue beast, injuring it badly with a raging blow.
The blue creatures move up, and suddenly Darvik finds himself surrounded by Skeletons and otherworldly beasts, while Olga sees a skeleton appear behind her, which she promptly grapples

We'll let the rest clear out the cave, you see! That's a man's job, you see!
Alek Stormcrow |
Alek nods to Cinderpaw as they quickly take down the skeleton; however, he turns to see Darvik surrounded. "Come on, boy, let's get 'em!" He points at strange blue creature and moves towards it with his blade at the ready, Cinderpaw following right alongside!
