The threat to Varisia, in the form of an army of giants led by a stone giant wizard named Mokmurian, is over. Our heroes slew the evil giant in his lair in the fortress of Jorgenfist. But a greater threat now looms...

Aurora seems quiet as the group makes its way through the corridor, her skin itching at the touch of the illusion magic. As much as her heritage favored enchantment, her blood sang with magic at the other end of the scale.

Gritting her teeth she keeps herself mindful of her surroundings.

Following Lym's direction, Thordak steps out into the hall of the "T" section and turns to his left. The first thing he sees is his own reflection, repeated an infinite number of times times in front of him. Then one of those reflections at each end of the hall separates itself from the infinite number of Thordaks, steps out of the mirror and attacks!

Thordak is caught by surprise at the multiple Thordaks. "Well now I gotta say, if we had all these fellas on our team this Karzoug fellow would be taken down in no time," he says with a grin and a wink to himself. Unfortunately for Thordak, he is caught by surprise by the dual Thordaks and never sees the attacks coming.

Thordak just manages to avoid getting completely eviscerated, yet, most of his blood still covers the floor where he stands. "I cannot believe ya just attacked me!!!" he yells in rage at the Thordaks. "Yer gonna pay for that!!! Messing with Thordak was fun, but the situation was anything but. He continued on with the group ready for trouble.

OMG. Hilarious!

The corridor opens into an immense cathedral of polished ivory flagstones. Mirrored walls rise to a height of nearly a hundred feet, where the vaulted ceiling arches majestically. Four immense chandeliers hang from golden chains and brightly illuminate the entire room. At the center of the cathedral, a three-step dais of polished wood supports a peacock the size of a wyvern, its feathers spread regally behind it. The creature’s eyes seem to hold a great depth of wisdom and ntelligence.

Evenly arranged about the dias are six identical figures: an immaculately dressed human man with shoulder-length blond hair. They are waiting for you as you turn the corner into the cathedral. With one sonorous voice, they speak:

Thassilonian:
"The master is in study - he is not be disturbed. Please keep your screaming to a minimum while your are punished for daring to venture this close to his magnificence."

GM Screen:
Praxim: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Lym: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Tomaru: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Aurora: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Thordak: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
simulacra: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Bear with me on this first-round order.

The figures begin casting spells. Being prepared for something like this, you act!

ROUND ONE: Praxim and Thordak go, then the Six, then Aurora, Lym, and Tomaru. Technically you don't know what they are doing and depending on Lym's translation, not even sure they have hostile intent. Play accordingly. Map is up.

Praxim has been scanning with detect evil. Do they register?

Praxim casts divine favour on himself then moves off, 30 feet southeast.

Seeing the massive mirrors, Thordak whines. "Not more blasted mirrors!" He then hears the look-alikes all start speaking at once, "Hey! What are they doin'?! What are they sayin'?!" Thordak draws his axe and prepares to charge one, "Should I kill 'em or not?! Anybody?!" Thordak's anger rises at the mere thought of them getting blasted by combined magic that could kill them all.

"Door guards, here to stop us from disrupting their 'master'," Lym translates. Next, she speaks in the same language as the identical strangers.

Thassilonian:
"You are mistaken. We are here on important business regarding the Runewell, and must meet with your master. Stand down."

If that does not work, however, Lym starts chanting under her breath.

Bluff 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17. Failing that, start casting Summon monster IV.

Hearing Lym speak in an odd tongue, Thordak cuts his eyes toward the look-alikes and reluctantly waits to see what happens while at the same time prepares to attack if necessary.

Delay.

Tomaru casts Prayer.

ROUND ONE cont'd: Praxim moves up and in. What is Rexil doing? They do scan as evil. MAKE SURE YOUR CURRENT HP IS UP TO DATE!

They ignore Lym as one entity. They begin chanting as one. And, as one, six fireballs shoot out from six outstretched arms toward all those still in the hallway.

Thordak Ref sv: 6d20 + 12 ⇒ (1, 10, 10, 14, 13, 19) + 12 = 79
Rexil Ref sv: 6d20 + 9 ⇒ (11, 12, 16, 9, 4, 17) + 9 = 78
Lym Ref sv: 6d20 + 7 ⇒ (6, 20, 13, 5, 19, 18) + 7 = 88
Tomaru Ref sv: 6d20 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1, 15, 20, 10, 7) + 9 = 68
Aurora Ref sv: 6d20 + 9 ⇒ (16, 20, 3, 6, 7, 11) + 9 = 72

fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 6, 5, 2, 5, 3) = 30
fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1, 5, 4, 6, 5) = 27
fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 5, 3, 2, 5, 5) = 31
fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 1, 5, 6, 4, 5) = 35
fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 3, 4, 4, 2, 6) = 27
fireball: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 6, 1, 3, 5, 6) = 33

Damage (I didn't take anything out for any fire resistance that you might have):
Thordak -104
Rexil -103
Lym -122
Tomaru -118
Aurora -118

:( Your turn. Thordak and Tomaru are still active, I believe. Praxim is unscathed. Thordak and Tomaru (and anyone that may have fire resistance that I missed and that saved them) may go to finish up ROUND ONE. Then ROUND TWO begins with Praxim and Rexil if he is still up.

F/R/W: +25/+23/+22 AC/T/FF: 33/19/26; CMD: 36; Perc: +22; Init: +9; Max HP: 179; Current HP: 168; Temp 0;

As the fireballs fly across and explode, Praxim instinctively reaches out, casting paladin’s sacrifice. Though the first fireball explodes in Lym’s face, it’s heat mystically vanishes from her body and burns Praxim instead.

Lym takes 30 points less, putting her at -3 instead of dead.

Sorry Aurora, can only do 1. Perhaps Tomaru can tug the strands to allow some retools.

I meant to say to split up when he moved and forgot that Rexil goes on his turn. Up to you if Rexil moved away or not, whatever is fair. If he is hit, he’s in the negs but not dead yet.

Thanks, Praxim. 0_0;

What the?!
Aurora has Resist Fire 10, so should still be active.

Not knowing what to expect next and needing time to heal everyone, Tomaru puts up a Wall of Stone (10'h x 35'l x 3" t) to provide the group with some cover.

Not keen on being alone with six hostile wizards, Praxim books it to get back behind the wall.

Unfortunately, it takes more than a single move, so he can’t heal anybody (or himself, since he spent his swift action saving Lym).
