OGGM's Sins of the Saviors (Inactive)

Game Master Old Guy GM

The threat to Varisia, in the form of an army of giants led by a stone giant wizard named Mokmurian, is over. Our heroes slew the evil giant in his lair in the fortress of Jorgenfist. But a greater threat now looms...

The save DC was 17, so check my math, but I believe I got it all right. Thordak, you only missed one save even with the extra bonus. Aurora should -10 from each fireball, reducing her damage taken by 60! I suspect a very angry flying gnomish boomstick coming...

Finishing ROUND ONE: Lym is down, Rexil is down. Tomaru/Aurora/Thordak wounded. Praxim with self-inflicted wounds. Only need Aurora to go to finish the round. Praxim has started ROUND TWO. Once Aurora goes, round one ends, round two picks up with the bad guys action. I will repost the Init order once Aurora goes.

As the fire explodes and burns throughout the party, Aurora watches the flesh of her friends blacken, their cries of pain anguish to her. Her burning blood sang with the energy of the flames, protecting her from the worst of it as her leathery wings unfurled, smouldering as they cracked the air and sent her skywards.

Hovering over her companions protectively, her hair flickers with heat, eyes burning as heat haze pulses from her. She fixes the smiling wizards with a glare...

Not today...

and then the fire is blazing from her to them in a line of flickering death, twin balls of flame dancing as they cross the gap and detonate amongst the enemy casters...

As a massive explosion goes off on the other side of the wall, Thordak moves around it to see what happened. His fury instantly subsiding, "HAHAHAHA! That's what ya get! How do ya like them firey apples! No one messes with me girl! There's a taste of yer own freakin' medicine!" he yells, caught up in the excitement of victory. He then quickly moves over to the nearest ash pile and starts stomping on it. He then bends down and gets real close to the ashes, cutting his eyes left and right to make sure none of the others are around. "That's what ya get for tickin' off me girl, ye freakin' jerks. Ya really shouldn't make her angry because ya won't like her if she's angry. Oh wait, guess it's too late ta warn ya about that," he chuckles quietly to himself.

He then spits on the ashes and rises, nodding in victory. Thinking a moment, he bends back down and constantly glances around to make sure the others aren't near as he whispers, "By the way, um, don't tell her I said she was me girl. Things might get real awkward and stuff and, um, I wouldn't want, ya know, her to be all uncomfortable and all that. She's not real comfortable about all that kind of talk but I'm totally comfortable with it, I am. I'm just thinkin' of her, ya know," he tells the ashes unconvincingly. He then rises and kicks at the ashes one more time for good measure before heading back to the others for healing.

"Yep, they're all dead. Nice one, Aurora. Real nice. And good wall there, lad. Couldn't have built a better one meself. Well, I probably could with the right tools and time," he nods, thinking about what he might do to improve upon the wall.

The air still shimmers as fire dances across Aurora's hair and clothing, heat continues to roll from her.

As she surveys the results of her magic, slowly the flames burning in her eyes subside and she drifts down to the floor slowly even as Tomaru's healing energy washes over her, the burns on her skin wavering and disappearing as if they were never there.

I am glad everyone is ok she says quietly, before moving to one side and wrapping her arms around herself.

After a moment she looks up again and seems to have regained her composure, the twinkle in her eyes is back.

Yes Tomaru, despite my preoccupation with burning our assailants in to ash I do believe I heard Master Thordak admonishing what was left of them.

She lifts a hand and places it gently on Thordak's cheek.

I am glad you are well and approve of my treatment of our foes

she smiles and turns to walk away before halting and casting a thoughtful glance back at Thordak

It's been a long time since anyone called me 'girl'...

Thordak looks blankly at the others for a moment, a small bead of sweat rolling down the side of his face. Finding himself completely baffled as to why Tomaru would say such a thing and going rather red at Aurora's response, " I've no idea what you lot are talkin' about," he responds honestly, albeit, a bit nervously. There's no WAY he heard me conversation with the ashes! Blast! I bet it was that blasted elf! Or maybe it was just because the lad can do magic. Is there nothin' magic folk can't do! Can they hear me mind talk too?! Cringing at THAT thought, he looks over at the peacock, "Hey! The peacock! What's the peacock for? Do we burn it?" he asks, cutting his eyes toward Praxim. Ya know, it had ta be the blasted elf. Just look at the smug look on his face - like he's always winnin' or somethin'. Just keep smilin', Mr. Smug. One of these days..., the dwarf narrows his eyes at him a moment before relaxing and looking back to the peacock. "It's got ta serve some purpose, right? There's no way it's here for its looks."

Bookcases full of tomes and scrolls line this cozy chamber’s walls and a reading table with several matching chairs sits atop a thick rug in its center. A peacock made of gold sits upon the table, holding a single stick of incense cleverly positioned in its tail feathers. A heavy wooden door exits the room through the wall to the northwest. A figure lies slumped in the chair in the far corner—the body of a man wearing rich robes and a cloak made of peacock feathers. An elegant mirror is clutched in his hand, and a book and quill sit on the table before him.

There are no evil auras about the study, nor are there invisible creatures. The man is quite clearly dead, almost as if he died just yesterday. Curiously though, the ink in the well he was using is dried and cracked like it has been sitting open for years.

If there's enough time left on the spell, Tomaru will have him open each door while we stay ready in the ruined library.

Narrowing his eyes, "Well lookee here. This book seems to have managed to survive amongst all this destruction." He carefully removes the book and shows it to the others.

North door:

This room is empty—save for a grisly heap of identical-looking dead bodies stacked in a well-organized heap. Just over 200 dead bodies are here, all perfectly preserved by the Runeforge.

South door:
This long room contains only three plain items of furniture—a large bed strewn with silk ropes, a writing desk, and a freestanding armoire.

There is nothing more of note in either room.

"So much for clones," Lym says, shaking her head at the pile of corpses. "If the original is too flawed, copies are simply not viable, it seems."

Praxim takes one glance at the bed with ropes, then turns back with a grin, saying, "Clearly, I should not be leaving pairs of you in this room alone."

Praxim scans the armoire for evil, then tries to open it with the tip of an arrow.

The armoire contains nothing of value.

"So, do you think the original is at the desk or at the bottom of this pile?"

"We can move the bodies into this room and use this place as a staging area for a while. I don't think we want to use it long term, though."
