Davlamin Glimmergaunt |
"Quick, lift the cage, or bend the bars, or something!"
The sorcerer knew he couldn't lift the cage or bend the bars. He knew he could at least attack the skeleton...he hoped without hitting Voyla in the process!
Joza Fersig |
Oh, I kinda assumed that we had to wait until the skeleton acts before we can do anything (including trying to lift the cage or bend the bars).
Zinli Steelworker |
Me too... Zinli will gladly blow the skeleton's head off, but she isn't strong enough to lift the cage.
Warren, you're our only hope!
Warren Connery |
I was assuming it was just a cage match for the first round too.
Warren runs to the cage and tries to lift it, "Good work, we'll get you out of there. Come give me a hand with this."
STR lift cage: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Voyla Sloboda |
"Thank you Warren."
Voyla tries to help.

Dav rubbed his hands together.
"Well I might not be strong but let me see if I can help some as well."

Warren does most of the work, but with Davlamin and Voyla's help, the cage is no longer an obstacle.

Voyla Sloboda |
Voyla gives a quick kiss in the cheek to Warren, and can't avoid smile a little at the hand gesture, before getting a disgust face.
"That is grim. What about those bodies?"
She gets her bow back out, and keeps her distance.
Zinli Steelworker |
"Ew."
Zinli stepped a little closer to have a better view of the arm, and tried shooting it... Just in case.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Warren Connery |
Warren gasps at the gesture from Voyla and rubs his cheek. He then smiles at Voyla, though most people would consider it a smile from a nightmare, his mouth being full of sharp teeth.
When he notices the hand he says, "How rude! Someone shout teach it some manners." He then walks over and once Zinli is done shooting it, chops it with his scimitar.
Joza Fersig |
"Good job everyone," Joza smiles briefly as Voyla is swiftly extracted from the cage without harm. "Now we can..." she stops, a puzzled expression on her face as Warren and Zinli start hacking and shooting at the body parts laying on the nearby table.
"Um...what are you doing?"
Davlamin Glimmergaunt |
Dav quickly explained to Joza what was happening: "Well apparently one of the severed limbs decided to display a very rude and offensive gesture at you, and both Warren and Zinli took offense at that and decided to teach the undead...hand a lesson in manners through the use of their weapons. In other words, a undead hand did an offensive gesture at you and Zinli and Warren weren't too happy about it."
The half-elf smirked a bit before adding, "I was actually looking for a vial of acid to pour on it. But hacking the undead abomination works just as effectively and efficiently."

Round 1
Perhaps it's due to being underground or the shock of being told that living body parts are apparently very cheeky and rude but Joza is too slow to react, only able to look on in shock as the skeleton reanimates and tears into Rahiv.
Finally coming to her senses, she drops her bow and draws mace and trident as she moves to aid Rahiv and Voyla.
Attack (Trident, Main Hand): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Move action to draw both weapons and close to melee range, standard action to attack with her main hand. Kinda hard to tell with the map, but add a +2 to the attack if flanking applies and assuming Voyla didn't already kill it...again!
Warren Connery |
"These things are more and more of a pain. I apologize for not reacting quick enough, Rahiv. Do you need me to heal some of your wounds?"
What is going on in here? Will that skeleton come back again?
Kn: Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 To figure out what is going on with the animated parts and the skeleton.
Voyla Sloboda |
Voyla, carefully avoiding any remaining acid, breaks and kicks away the bones to prevent the bones to reform into a skeleton again.
"How are you Rahiv?"
Joza Fersig |
"Strange..." Joza mutters, looking a little unnerved. "My weapons didn't even make a scratch...and why did it get up again?"
Rahiv |
Rahiv waved a hand off at Warren "I shall be fine for now, it I become too worried I have my own wells of healing. Best leave your abilities for the thick of things." he said as he pulled out a small rag and wiped at his mouth.
"Your guess is as good as mine, it did however scare me a bit coming up behind me like that. Lucky I have a defense mechanism..." he said before he began to look around the room once more.
Davlamin Glimmergaunt |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Dav began to study the room some, trying to see if he could get a mage's perspective on the situation while also casting a detect magic spell as well, just in case.
Warren Connery |
Warren nods to Rahiv and says to Joza, "I've studied these creatures some and have not idea why it reanimated and never heard of undead doing that. It could be something to do with the Spire or some arcane necromantic spell. Is there anything else to see in this room?"
Joza Fersig |
Joza shivers. The ground level hadn't been terrible, but this lower level...it felt wrong and Warren's words only served to solidify this belief.
"Necromancy...unnatural," she responds quietly as she stows her weapons and retrieves her bow from where she dropped it. "We should be extremely careful here. Whoever did this may be close."
She quickly joins the others in looking around the room for anything unusual.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Zinli Steelworker |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Zinli looked sadly at Rahiv's wound.
"Sorry, I missed it..." she hung her head in shame. "Shouldn't have to. It wasn't that far..."
She helped her friends looking for things, while pointing the skeleton defensively once in a while.
"YOU better stay dead!!!!!"
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
DM Lil" Eschie |
You find a few interesting things on the table, amidst the gorish remains: two potions, and a scroll tube with two scrolls in it.
there is another scroll, with a sigil on it.
@Dav: remember you already failed one Spellcraft check
Davlamin Glimmergaunt |
Ah okay. I was using the Spellcraft to determine how strong the necromancer/s who created the undead were, but I guess we can go with that too.
Dav studied the scroll, trying to see what he could find out about it. While doing so he pointed out the scroll with the Azlanti symbol on it to be group.
"That scroll has the Azlanti sigil for the number 4 on it."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14. Studying the first scroll.
He'll study the two potions next
After struggling with the scroll and sighing he examined the two potions.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
The sorcerer sighed again, deciding it might be best to wait and try again later.
Missed it by one!
Joza Fersig |
As Dav pores over the potions and scrolls, Joza's attention seems to be drawn to something over near the glowing green stone of the Spire itself. She carefully approaches and kneels down to have a better look.

"There's another symbol over here, but it looks different than that other one. Can anyone read it?"
Voyla Sloboda |
I can't.
Zinli Steelworker |
"Um... Unless it's some kind of signature left by a craftman... And I doubt that it is... No, I'm afraid not."
Since she couldn't really do anything else, Zinli loaded her gun, and kept her eyes wide open.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Warren Connery |
Warren carefully moves the bucket aside and picks up the key. "Hey guys! Look what I found. I wonder what it goes to. Anyone see a keyhole in here?" He holds the key high as he looks at it and then looks around.
Voyla Sloboda |
"Well done Warren!"
Joza Fersig |
"Maybe it opens the cage?" Joza asks in a deadpan tone. Then she smiles. "Or maybe not. Good to have it either way."
She glances back at the strange symbol she'd found. "So no ideas on what this is or what it might mean?"
Davlamin Glimmergaunt |
Dav studies the symbol some, trying to make sense of it.
