So did my acid splash hit any of the baddies?
Reja, Beloved of the Elements |
Eek, sorry to hear that you've been sick since you got home! I hope you get to feeling better quickly (and that you had a nice trip at least).
Also Reja isn't married to idea of leaving without killing the pugwampi so if consensus is to just kill it real quick before we head back out to rest up then she'll not kick up a fuss :)
DM Default |
Sorry for the lack of updates, my schedule has me out of the house (and away from my source books) largely from 8:30am - 11:30pm. Goes on for another couple weeks, but should be able to sneak in an update here or there in the meantime.
Reja, Beloved of the Elements |
Hey guys, I'm going to be pulling 12s at work for the next three days so you may not see much in the way of posts from me during that time. I'll try to check in/keep up as much as I can but it may not be until Friday night or Saturday before I'll get caught up. As always, feel free to bot me for combat/skill checks as needed!
Reja, Beloved of the Elements |
Hey folks, this isn't 100% related to the most recent happenings in my life (which have included catching the flu and losing my grandmother) but it *has* given me time to think on things a bit and I've come to the decision that I need to lighten my PbP load by a few games. It's been a slow process but I think I've taken on more than I can really handle right now and the stress of trying to keep up with them all is starting to have a negative impact on my mood and capability to write. Rather than have all of my games suffer for it, I'd rather let a few go so I can better focus on the ones that remain (and have a little more free time for other hobbies again, too).
It wasn't an easy decision to make (like picking among my non-existent children) but I believe this is one that I'm going to bow out of. It's been a fun game and my decision to leave is in no way a reflection on our GM or any of the other players. Since we were planning to head back out and rest anyway, I'm happy to stick around long enough to help finish this battle before departing for good. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause but hopefully you'll be able to recruit another player quickly and it won't slow the game down too much. Feel free to have Reja head back to Katapesh or become an NPC guarding the caravan or kill her off as it suits the story.
It's been a pleasure playing with everyone and I hope our paths will cross again in the future, hopefully under better circumstances for me :)
DM Default |
Sad to see you go Reja, but understandable.
And thanks for giving notice, I've had a lot of ghosters and frankly your explanation is very appreciated.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Sorry to see you Reja. But I understand and I wish you good luck in your future games! I've enjoyed adventuring with you!
Mahk the Scythe |
How do we handle hit points for level up?
HP: ?
Combat Style: Archery
Combat Style Feat: Rapid Shot
Background Skills(2): Max: Handle Animal, Knowledge (Geography)
Regular Skills(7): Max: Disable Device, Heal, Knowledge (Dungeoneering, Nature), Perception, Stealth, Survival
Regular Skills(1): Profession (soldier) 1; Dance - 1 (another at next level); Acrobatics (max-3)
Saves: Fort & Ref +1
Alias, tag line, macros updated.
Edit:
It looks like we are at three characters.
Magus
Sorceress
Ranger (me, and I can handle traps)
We really need a healer (cleric, druid, oracle, etc.).
Are you going to advertise for another character, or two?
DM Default |
Yeah, planning on reaching out for a recruitment real quick.
Also, Hp is calculated (half hd +con) I believe.
DM Default |
Given the circumstance, I feel that should be alright. Please post your proposed changes.
Adroushan |
Well, we currently have a Sorcerer and Ranger [trapper], so I am thinking we need another frontliner and a healer-type.
I am willing to go any route, but I wouldn't mind knowing how your recruitment goes.
How many more are you recruiting and may we have the link to assist you in appraising?
Any thoughts, Mahk and Josria?
Ok, I just reread the creation guideline (been awhile).
I may just stay with Magus, but I will make adjustments to him.
He is just such an a$$ that I find myself rooting for the monsters against him....lol.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Im not sure. I think that you could stay as a magus and just change how he acts and behaves. I was a bit puzzled by his background history since his campaign trait was supposedly linking him to gnolls but his background suggests that his family were destroyed by the undead so I was confused by that.
Also I'll try and post my level up Monday afternoon as I've been busy with work and I have to help my mom tomorrow in her yard. I'll still post though it'll just be Monday that I'll have time to update my stats. I'm having to be very careful not to go over my data link.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Hey y'all! Just double checking my level up stats, but I need to know which cantrip to take?
The strategy guide says to take read magic, but I would like to know which spell y'all think will work for our party?
Read magic, ray of frost, or dancing lights?
DM Default |
Doing a recruitment thread. Please private message me thoughts on submissions as anyone can reference this thread.
DM Default |
Feel free to make adjustments Adroushan, and if you need an in-game reason to kick your pants in the right direction, let me know.
DM Default |
Yay! More orientation shifts at work for me! (sarcasm) But in all seriousness, you will see some slowdown on my part in updates, but please but assured I will not go dark on you or abandon any games. I'll update when I can but between schoolwork, internship work, and work work, I'm gonna be a bit swamped. Should hopefully have more consistent breathing room sometime between one and two weeks.
Josria al-Zarqa |
I like Arian and Faffnyr. The two both have unique characters and I like how they are written. Plus, they've worked together before so that's a plus too.
What do the rest of you think?
Mahk the Scythe |
I know a little about Legacy of Fire, but not a lot, so some of these thoughts may not be reasonable, so take them with a grain of salt.
If Adroushan stays a Magus, then:
Josria - full arcane caster
Adroushan - a gish (in the good sense of the word), a fighter / mage
Mahk - ranger, tracker, secondary fighter (archer & melee) with just a little bit of traps thrown in.
So we have two "half" fighters, and one and a half arcane casters.
What we need, in my opinion is a full healer. To my simple mind a cleric is still the best. We also need a front liner (fighter, paladin, barbarian), and perhaps a full skill character (do we need a full rogue?, or is Mahk trap finding enough for the skill character requirement?).
I've seen a slayer played, and am DMing a PbP with one, and they are on par with ranger, ie. a secondary fighter. I do not know how much a "tank" is needed for this AP.
Anyway, those are my thoughts.
-- david aka Mahk
Adroushan |
I am going to stick with Magus.
I haven't played one before, so it just feels off a bit.
I will look at the recruitment thread in a bit.
I agree. A "healer" and another melee would be helpful.
And Mahk: don't sell yourself short, sir. I have played a Ranger [Trapper]. They are good at melee, ranged, and trapping, as long as you keep putting a rank and get masterwork tools.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Well, as a fire-blooded sorcerer, Josria can summon elementals to help us out. These elementals and summoned monsters can serve as 'tanks' depending on who they are. Angels, earth elementals, giants can serve as useful backup for our party.
Also here is my updated stats (I find it easier to post everything in case of I made a mistake somewhere):

SPECIAL ABILITIES
=================================================
Background Skill (Knowledge (History), Knowledge (History), Linguistics, Perform (Dance))
Bloodline Arcana Whenever you cast a spell that deals energy damage, you can change the type of damage to fire. This also changes the spell's type to Fire.
Cantrips You learn a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells. These spells are cast like any other spells, but they do not consume any slots and may be used again.
Cat's Luck Once per day when a catfolk makes a Reflex saving throw, he can roll the saving throw twice and take the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the saving throw is attempted.
Courageous Your childhood was brutal, yet you persevered primarily through force of will and the hope that no matter how hard things might get, as long as you kept a level head you'd make it through. You gain a +2 trait bonus on saving throws against fear effects.
Desert Child (desert) You were born and raised in rocky deserts. You are accustomed to high temperatures, and gain a +4 trait bonus on any saving throws made to resist the effects of being in hot conditions and a +1 trait bonus on all saving throws against fire effects.
Elemental Bloodline (Fire) The power of the elements resides in you, and at times you can hardly control its fury. This influence comes from an elemental outsider in your family history or a time when you or your relatives were exposed to a powerful elemental force.
Elemental Ray (Sp) You can unleash an elemental ray as a standard action, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. This ray deals 1d6+1 points of fire damage You can use this ability 6 times per day.
Eschew Materials
Finding Haleen You never knew your parents--perhaps they died when you were a child, or maybe you were taken from them and raised elsewhere as a slave. You owe your sanity and your life to a woman named Haleen.
Low-Light Vision In dim light, catfolk can see twice as far as humans.
Natural Hunter (Ex) Catfolk receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks.
Sprinter Catfolk gain a 10-foot racial bonus to their speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions.
Trustworthy People find it easy to put their faith in you. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff checks made to fool someone. You also gain a +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks, and Diplomacy is always a class skill for you.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Also by recruiting Faffnyr we will finally be able to beat the blasted religion knowledge checks to learn more about the monastery!
And I need to fix my skills, noticed that something off.
Drat! I picked Intimdate instead of adding another point in Knowledge (Religion)!
So my religion knowledge checks should be one point higher than they are. Doh!!!!!
DM Default |
Taking into account your above discussion (though I did request you message me as anyone can view this thread, including those selected) I've made my decision. Will post to the recruitment thread and wait for our new player's to arrive.
Arian al-Okeno |
Good day to you all and warm greetings! Have you had your kahve for the morning? It seems we are joined on this journey and shall be fellow travelers.
Josria al-Zarqa |
Hi you two and welcome to the group!
I'm Josria, the fiery catfolk sorceress of the group!
Arian al-Okeno |
Welcome Arian and Faffnyr.
Adroushan is a dour, self-absorbed, fancy-pants.
Can he be cheered up with music? :D
Arian al-Okeno |
I'm fine with doing tag-team trapwork. My Wisdom is only average so my Perception score is not great, and I don't have the Trap Spotter trait yet (just Trapfinding).

Updates tomorrow, if I don't collapse. (joke, but seriously glad I have tomorrow off-ish)
Mahk the Scythe |
After the snowstorm (2 feet here) a week ago Tuesday and the dig out Wednesday, I came down with the flu. Finally got a nights sleep without chills / sweats so I should be on the mend. My wife just told me that if I am well enough to sit at the computer, then I am well enough to take her our for our weekly lunch date (which we missed last week), so I will do that, then come home and nap.
I'll have an update tomorrow (Thursday).
What is up with the missing new post numbers?
DM Default |
Just to keep you all in the loop, during the no-new-notification incident (where forum games weren't alerting folks to updates), I had a member of my family pass on.
As such, I feel it fair to inform you that I updates might take longer than usual (which I know, is plenty long of a wait already) and if you feel the need to drop out of a game I'm DMing or drop me from a game I'm participating in, I understand.
That said, I do hope to update within a couple days as I could use the distraction as the usual business of these events tend to warrant. Thank you for your understanding.
Life moves on eventually. I just need some time.
