No worries Alayi; congrats on the new job!
Re: languages - I have my own list (under a spoiler on my main profile) that I use if there hasn't already been one set by someone else in the game but I'm happy to go with whatever works for everyone :)
Same here! Congratulations on the new job Alayi!
And Reja, ah neat! I tend to use an Elven and Dwarven translator for those two languages, but I like the choices you picked! I was surprised that you use Klingon for Orc though. Interesting choice!
Portuguese could work for Ignan though. And yeah Swahili works for Polyglot, so I need to figure out what to use for Catfolk...
Everyone okay if I use French for Catfolk? Makes sense I guess, but I'm open to suggestions!
And wow! Reja, I never would have thought of using Chinese for Draconic or Armenian for Celestial. And Persian! That's a good idea for Kelish! Never thought of that either. Arabic works for great for both Osiriani and Ancient Osiriani.
I would have thought German would work for Terran but Welsh actually makes more sense!
Excellent ideas Reja!

Hey, no problem! To be honest, I swiped most of that list from a player in another game that I'm in and I think I've filled other bits out here and there based on whatever 'looks' appropriate or whatever seems like a good real-world analogue to something (like Romanian for Varisian, for example).
Josria al-Zarqa
That's good. I do know I'm in a game where you're playing a Catfolk. And I think you said you use Swahili for her. That sound work in this game and sounds appropriate right?
Now that I think about it, either French or Portuguese work well as Ignan. I'm leaning towards French but still opened to suggestions. What have you used for Ignan?
Reja, Beloved of the Elements
Yeah, I know I've used Swahili in the other game for Joza but at some point I decided that it made more sense (to me) for Polyglot. For Ignan...to be honest, that one hasn't come up yet though I imagine it will in this game one way or another! I'll have to look around and see what seems cool :)
Josria al-Zarqa
Hm...now that you've mentioned it, Swahili does sound more suitable for Polyglot. And cool. All I can think of are Spanish and Portuguese for Ignan, but I'll see what you come up with first.
And what do you think of using French for Catfolk? Sounds reasonable but I might be wrong. I mean I got the Inner Sea Races book and Catfolk are said to originate from southern Garund. But I'm probably thinking of how Frenchlike some feline characters can be. ;P
As for Aquan, that could have a more...Italian ring to it I guess.
Alayi Ah'Mheed
Well, let me jump in with the languages Alayi knows.
With Kelish, I agree with Persian. I think it fits. But with Ignan and Halfling, I'm not sure of. Haven't seen anyone use those two languages yet in pbp.

Basically what I do is pop stuff into Google Translate and pick whatever language I want to use. It works for the game, though I'm sure that whatever it spits out likely looks odd to any native speakers of the language. One of my other games has a native French speaker and he joked that the Google Translate French was killing his eyes, hehe.
Of course copy + paste is a little harder to do on mobile devices in my experience so I usually just write whatever I want to write in English and tag it under a spoiler that says <Auran> or whatnot.
Josria al-Zarqa
Yeah Google translate does make things look weird if you look at it in whatever language you're translating to. Translated something in French and out of curiosity looked at the page in French...I don't recommend doing that!
Anyhow I looked at French and it seems it could work for Catfolk. I actually translated something in Spanish and then something in Portuguese and tried to see if either of the two sounds fiery or something along those lines. Spanish actually sounded more fiery than Portuguese did but I could be wrong. I just translated 'Hello. I'm a genie.'
I looked at French and translated 'Hello. I am a sorceress.' Sounds sorta like catfolk would be I guess. But again I could be wrong.
Josria al-Zarqa
I forgot to ask what experience table are we using? Fast, Medium, or Slow?
Josria al-Zarqa
Sorry for triple posting here but just curious here but what is everyone's time zone?
I live in South Carolina so right now it's 5:38 pm EST.
Josria al-Zarqa
Cool!
So just to make sure everyone is okay with it:
Catfolk: French
Ignan: Spanish
Josria al-Zarqa
I just realized that Haran never did answer Josria's question about the Pathfinders. So after we finish talking to the priest would be a good time for me to bring it back up IC.
Josria al-Zarqa
Um..where did everyone go? Must be another con going on.
Josria al-Zarqa
Probably just weekend slowdown again ;)
Must be. Also there's the heat too. I was trying to vacuum today but it's just too hot for that as well!
DM Default
I try to post consistently over the week, but usually take a day or both weekend days to myself to recharge and get in the creative mood again. Will probably post updates tonight.
Josria al-Zarqa
It's cool. I keep assuming that weekends are when people post the most.
But yeah I can understand gm. I know how it is when you need to take a break and recharge the creative batteries.
One reason why I'm on vacation (or actually stay-at-homecation) but this gives me a lot more time to post.

It is honestly understandable. Can post online from nearly anywhere. So you can always post and keep up with this.
While in person games tend to only happen when a group has free time dedicated to such things. And mostly requires days off, which happens mostly on the weekend.
Week Days, Online. ^_^
Weekends, In person. ^_^
And everyone needs at least some time to decompress from the stress and riggers of work and everyday life.
But anyway, it is nice to find out about the good days this pbp will be active!
And going back to locations of us in real life, I'm out west in Sacramento, California. Most of you are three hours ahead of me! @_@
Josria al-Zarqa
Cool.
I'm watching Disney's African Cats and I just saw the part with the hyenas. And I swear those hyenas look like the chills we're about to take on! Not sure if that's eerie or creepy!
They got two of the cheetah mother's five cubs. Very sad. :(
Josria al-Zarqa
Has anyone heard from Haran?
Also I was at the doctor's earlier and then I went with my mom to find a birthday gift for my grandmother. So I'm sorry if I just posted.
DM Default
I was beginning to wonder where Haran and Alayi were. Would you guys prefer I keep things moving, or wait for everyone to post?
Josria al-Zarqa
I'm not sure. We could keep things moving but I hate to leave those two out of this.
What do the rest of you think? I guess we could keep things moving.
I think Alayi got a new job so that might be eating up a lot of her time.

I'd say keep moving for now. I do remember Alayi had mentioned starting a new job but I'm not sure on Haran's player. Looks like it's been nearly a week since his last post across several of his games so I dunno...I hope he's okay.
I'd give it maybe another week or so before thinking about replacing anyone, but that's just my own opinion.

I'm with Reja on this as well.

I'm still around. Working for Uber is something.
Is it a rough job?
Going to try and give Josria a bit of an accent/dialect. So y'all how does this sound to you:
"Hello. My name is Josrrrria al-Zarrrqa. Nice to meet you. How arrrre you doing today? Nice weatherrr we'rrrre having rrrright?"
Just having her roll her R's a bit. I know I have an old Dragon magazine somewhere that had a story or article about a race of catfolk in it. They were called something else. Know it was about the catfolk of Mystara, one of TSR's first D&D worlds.
Alayi Ah'Mheed
Not really. Just trying to find my own... I guess sweet spot of working. And so far it's been driving people to and from bars.
But I'm getting used to working late nights.
And about dialect, I still think Alayi has a voice, and dialect similar to Pharah of Overwatch. Just sounds appropriate for her.
Josria al-Zarqa
Accent sounds good to me Josria :)
Hang in there on the driving thing Alayi!
Thank you Reja.
And hang in there Alayi!
Josria al-Zarqa
I like that game too! It's a very interesting game.
Btw, I saw that Haran's player was the gm for another group and apparently he got really sick. So I hope he's doing alright.
DM Default
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Really? Hmm... I don't feel it'd be right to kick him if he's physically ill. He's a great character and player to boot from what we've seen. Still...notice would have been preferred, then again how much notice does illness give you....
Alright...Here's what we're doing. I have another player who expressed interest in being a reserve player in case someone dropped. How do you guys feel about adding a 6th member to the party in the hopes that Haran returns. If he does, I can manage 6 people. If not, then we still got 5.
Any objections?
Josria al-Zarqa
I don't have any objections to that. And actually I like 6 character parties. I'm a big Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale gamer so I'm used to them.
And I do hope Haran comes back. And trust me on the illness thing: getting sick doesn't give you a lot of notice. :(
Josria al-Zarqa
So I'm looking forward to this mystery player of yours GM.
Or do you prefer DM? Probably my D&D memories are coming back to me.
Too bad we can't send a get well e-card to Haran's player.

Who says we can't? I'm gonna send him an update on what's going on and a get well message as well.

Sweet! That's good to hear!
I've also found out that they're coming out with a sourcebook on the elemental planes! Plus info on the good elemental lords. I'm just hoping they talk about how to free the good elemental lords since I've read in the lore that they were imprisoned by the evil ones. :(
Sorry I'm used to D&D's Great Wheel cosmology. i played the Temple of Elemental Evil a few times so Legacy of Fire seems to bring that old D&D nostalgic feeling back to me.

Hi all,
I just got a PM from DM Default inviting me to the game with instructions to post here and introduce myself, so here I am.
The player is david (Papa.DRB). This will be the only game that I am playing in (one is enough to scratch the play itch) but I run four PbP here at Paizo under the alias "DM Papa.DRB".
This alias is updated with all of Mahk information. He is a Ranger(trapper) and really hates gnolls. He carries a scythe and longbow, and wears a chain shirt.
He will be introduced soon as a late arrival to the campsite. He was recruited by Garavel, like everyone else.
"Ho the camp. Mr. Garavel, you here?" says the tall, lanky boy standing at the edge of the camp, waiting for a response before entering.

I plan on you entering the game after the group finishes interviewing Dashki. Will signal your entrance with a post, so be on the lookout.

I really don't like to start off in a new campaign with an "on holiday" message, but here is what I just posted in all the PbP that I run.
Tomorrow, Thursday 2016/08/25, my wife and I are heading back to town to pick up our four year old grand daughter and bring her to the campground. She is with us till Sunday afternoon, when we drop her off back at her home. The kids, our daughter and son-in-law, are having an "adult" weekend away.
I should be able to keep up with posting, but just letting you know that this little bundle of energy has a knack of wearing out us two old farts, so if I miss a day or two, that is why.

edit: For Blazing Sun only. I'll make the most effort to post here as soon as introduced.

Welcome aboard! I'm not too familiar with that archetype but I really like your character's concept and design!
Looking forward to adventuring with you! And take your time posting. No need to rush.
And sweet! We have a rogue...well roguish ranger with us!
