That silver dagger may do Ushio well. It will keep him from using up his current dagger, which can go to someone else (or duel-wielding :D ), and keeping in mind beasties and such that would require silver to get through DR he could sneak attack them with no problem as well as have awesome concealment bonuses with none or dim light... as long as those mentioned beasties also cannot see in the dark.

I think people are stuck on what to buy, with everybody going "Well how about this, but I don't want to just make the decision for the group".
So, I'm going to kick down the door on this one. However, first I need to know what the actual mechanical function of an estus flask is. Assuming it's even half as needed as it is in the game, I propose the following shopping list.
- Light Crossbow (4s)
- Bolts (20) (1s)
- Silver Dagger (3s)
- Alchemist's Fire (2s)
- Estus Flask, Lesser (5s)
- Estus Flask (15s)
That would cost 30 souls, putting us down to 2. However, we could arm somebody for ranged dps in addition to arming another melee person (with a weapon that can overcome certain DR and have other uses), while picking up some fire damage (always handy) and buying as much healing as possible (never a bad choice).
I propose this shopping list. If you think it's good, let everybody know. If you think I'm an idiot, let everybody know. Let's keep it moving!

GM MG |

The list of purchasable items purposely lacks item descriptions. So far there is no indication on what's the function of estus flasks nor what's the difference between lesser estus flask and estus flask. It's a feature, not a bug! You could ask IC but there's no guarantee they'll answer, or answer truthfully. (This time Felisse would answer something like "It's an alchemical product that magically heals wounds of its consumer")
You did find one lesser estus flask earlier, maybe checking its item description might give some clue.
I agree, let's keep this moving. Shopping list seems fine for me (though personally from a player's POV I would save some souls), and if no player has any objections the purchase is finalized in, say, 12 hrs.

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

Check out the item description in the IC thread; it's a recharging CLW. After an hour you can use it again. Lesser ones act as regular potions.

GM MG |

Bingo. (Estus flasks are theoretically unlimited healing, but in practise the 1-hour cooldown limits it quite a lot. Now, if only there were some means of overcoming that fault... *wink*)
BTW, made a typo earlier:
(...) so the travel there will be a lengthy one. First, head back down to B14F. Turn left and go straight forward in the long tunnel (...)
Felisse's lab is on B14F. She meant to say B15F, which is the floor below her lab.

How do we want to distribute our purchases? And have Moritat or Rillian poked in at all recently?

GM MG |

I'm going to be busy this weekend, so don't expect very frequent posts from me. If you get bored you could consider the following and talk about how you feel about it.
Boss battles
All enemies in the Labyrinth are deadly, but none more so than the dreaded bosses.
Bosses are always found behind a wall of fog, so that no one can accidentally challenge them. The color of the fog indicates how strong the boss behind it will be: white is strong, light grey stronger, dark grey even stronger.
Whenever you wish to enter through a wall of fog and challenge the boss on the other side, you must specify the number of party members who enter through. Naturally all eight can enter and participate in the fight, but if fewer than eight enter the prizes for defeating the boss are greatly increased.
8 PCs: reward x1
7 PCs: reward x1.15
6 PCs: reward x1.5
5 PCs: reward x2
4 PCs: reward x3 + one special item
3 PCs: reward x4 + one special item
2 PCs: reward x5 + two special items
1 PC: reward x10 + two special items + Labyrinth Soul
Once you have specified which party members enter, the fog wall thickens and no one else may enter or leave through the fog wall. In other words, once the battle begins it will not end until the boss is slain or the challengers are. (There may or may not exist items that allow challengers escaping from the battle.)
Shades
Great ordeals attract roamers of all kinds.
In front of the fog walls you may find strange runes carved on the floor. These runes are used to summon roamers from all corners of the Labyrinth to assist challengers in the upcoming boss battles. These helpers are called shades.
All shades have their own agendas. Though some may help out challengers of honest goodwill, most shades do not offer their help for free. In such cases the party must be prepared to offer a certain percentage of the reward they would get for slaying the boss: most shades ask for 10% to 30% of the reward. If the party agrees to the shade's contract but the boss battle is lost despite the shade's help, the shade earns nothing.
Shades do not count as party members for the purpose of determining bonus rewards (eg. four party members and a shade would earn as much as four party members without a shade). Only one shade may participate in any boss battle. Once the boss battle ends, the shade returns to whence it came from.
Shades can talk, and may offer some hints and tips for defeating the boss.
Whether you play it safe or seek greater challenges, I hope you enjoy the boss battles!

Ushio Takei |

Sorry everybody! I had gotten preoccupied recently with some work to do, but i should be back for a good solid time and continue posting! Sorry about the non-posting for a bit....

GM MG |

I would want to be clear on who has taken what loot. There are still lots of unclaimed stuff; come grab some!
Also please update your profile pages once you take something.

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

I don't have the leather anymore, since the mercenary armor has replaced it. I would foist it onto Moritat or leave it unclaimed. I believe that Pahleg has the other suit of scale. I'll hold onto the broken pick axe and the estus flask if no one else will take them.

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

I would say so- either Ushio or Goramar can take the shortbow and it doesn't seem like our summoner is posting so Kekkle makes the most sense as a recipient.

Elyna |

I'm going to keep the scythe around for coup de graces I think. althogh that too would be a lot better for someone with a positive STR mod.
in unrelated matters, should we assume that Moritat and Rilian have gone hollow?

Elyna |

Before you is a chamber, equal in size to the ones you've been in before. Unlike the previous chambers, however, this one is filled with crates, barrels, containers, boxes, urns and the like. One might think of this place as a warehouse of sorts. A single skeleton rests lifelessly against some barrels.
I can't take this...

That sweet sound when you crash and break and shatter stuff. It's not rewarding, it's not encouraged, it's not needed for anything... so why does it feel so good?

I contacted both players on Monday via PM, asking if they are still playing. Neither have responded.
Earlier mourge40k (Moritat) said he had some long and stressful studies, which I can relate to, so I am more merciful with him. Volkner (Rilian) on the other hand last posted almost a month ago and hasn't explained his absence.
I'm giving both players till next Monday to respond, then I start taking actions.
Is Goramar still here BTW?

GM MG |

Whatever you decide to buy or sell, please make it quickly.
I remember you still have some things you could part with: a trinket (1s), sparkly what (2s), maybe some weapons as well. Don't forget the large soul of fallen roamer you found just a moment ago.
You could squeeze out something like 20 souls by selling stuff and using the soul item. Is that enough to buy what you want? If yes, good. If not, maybe it's best to carry on.

Elyna |

My copy of occult adventures finally arrived today. I'm just checking over the changes made to the kineticist class.
Can I apply the changes right away or should I wait until I level up?

GM MG |

So here's a question for you guys:
Like I said, I prodded mourge40k (Moritat) and Volkner (Rilian) this Monday and neither have responded yet. I'm still hopeful they'd respond and start getting more active, but in the case that's not the case... what would you like to do?
Would you like me to (a) recruit two new players to replace them, bringing the number of players back to eight; or would you like to (b) just keep playing with the current six players?
I have no preference one way or another. Let your voice be heard!

Ulrich of Ravensmount |

Let's find out what the ring does from the skeleton first, maybe? We also have three levels worth of souls in the bank...
