DAY 6

Male Fetchling Rogue 2 | HP (09/09) | AC 14/<T14>/<F10> | Saves <F+0>/<R+6>/<W+0> | Init +3 | Percep +5 | SMotive +0 Acrobatics +8 (2), Bluff +7 (2), Disable Device +7 (1), Disguise +6 (1), Escape Artist +7 (1), Perform |Dance| +6 (1), Perception +5 (2), Sleight of Hand +8 (2), Stealth +10 (2), Use Magic Device +7 (2)

That silver dagger may do Ushio well. It will keep him from using up his current dagger, which can go to someone else (or duel-wielding :D ), and keeping in mind beasties and such that would require silver to get through DR he could sneak attack them with no problem as well as have awesome concealment bonuses with none or dim light... as long as those mentioned beasties also cannot see in the dark.

I'm back. Any progress?

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

I think people are stuck on what to buy, with everybody going "Well how about this, but I don't want to just make the decision for the group".

So, I'm going to kick down the door on this one. However, first I need to know what the actual mechanical function of an estus flask is. Assuming it's even half as needed as it is in the game, I propose the following shopping list.

  • Light Crossbow (4s)
  • Bolts (20) (1s)
  • Silver Dagger (3s)
  • Alchemist's Fire (2s)
  • Estus Flask, Lesser (5s)
  • Estus Flask (15s)

That would cost 30 souls, putting us down to 2. However, we could arm somebody for ranged dps in addition to arming another melee person (with a weapon that can overcome certain DR and have other uses), while picking up some fire damage (always handy) and buying as much healing as possible (never a bad choice).

I propose this shopping list. If you think it's good, let everybody know. If you think I'm an idiot, let everybody know. Let's keep it moving!

The list of purchasable items purposely lacks item descriptions. So far there is no indication on what's the function of estus flasks nor what's the difference between lesser estus flask and estus flask. It's a feature, not a bug! You could ask IC but there's no guarantee they'll answer, or answer truthfully. (This time Felisse would answer something like "It's an alchemical product that magically heals wounds of its consumer")

You did find one lesser estus flask earlier, maybe checking its item description might give some clue.

I agree, let's keep this moving. Shopping list seems fine for me (though personally from a player's POV I would save some souls), and if no player has any objections the purchase is finalized in, say, 12 hrs.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

You guys go ahead and equip yourselves as you need, i dont require anything we can get here, I'm sure we'll have more souls by the time we get to another merchant.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

I just had surgery. Nothing life threatening, but I'm going to be in a lot of pain and on a lot of drugs the next week. Please DMPC as necessary.

Oh my! Get well soon!

28/28 HP

Have we asked about how estus flasks work? She may be able to shed some light; if they're just CLW potions or something more.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Check out the item description in the IC thread; it's a recharging CLW. After an hour you can use it again. Lesser ones act as regular potions.

28/28 HP

Oh, thanks!

Bingo. (Estus flasks are theoretically unlimited healing, but in practise the 1-hour cooldown limits it quite a lot. Now, if only there were some means of overcoming that fault... *wink*)

BTW, made a typo earlier:

Felisse wrote:

Felisse's lab is on B14F. She meant to say B15F, which is the floor below her lab.

I'm still here but my work has blocked Paizo forums now. I will post but not as much as before.

How do we want to distribute our purchases? And have Moritat or Rillian poked in at all recently?

I'm going to be busy this weekend, so don't expect very frequent posts from me. If you get bored you could consider the following and talk about how you feel about it.

Boss battles

All enemies in the Labyrinth are deadly, but none more so than the dreaded bosses.

Bosses are always found behind a wall of fog, so that no one can accidentally challenge them. The color of the fog indicates how strong the boss behind it will be: white is strong, light grey stronger, dark grey even stronger.

Whenever you wish to enter through a wall of fog and challenge the boss on the other side, you must specify the number of party members who enter through. Naturally all eight can enter and participate in the fight, but if fewer than eight enter the prizes for defeating the boss are greatly increased.

8 PCs: reward x1
7 PCs: reward x1.15
6 PCs: reward x1.5
5 PCs: reward x2
4 PCs: reward x3 + one special item
3 PCs: reward x4 + one special item
2 PCs: reward x5 + two special items
1 PC: reward x10 + two special items + Labyrinth Soul

Once you have specified which party members enter, the fog wall thickens and no one else may enter or leave through the fog wall. In other words, once the battle begins it will not end until the boss is slain or the challengers are. (There may or may not exist items that allow challengers escaping from the battle.)

Shades

Great ordeals attract roamers of all kinds.

In front of the fog walls you may find strange runes carved on the floor. These runes are used to summon roamers from all corners of the Labyrinth to assist challengers in the upcoming boss battles. These helpers are called shades.

All shades have their own agendas. Though some may help out challengers of honest goodwill, most shades do not offer their help for free. In such cases the party must be prepared to offer a certain percentage of the reward they would get for slaying the boss: most shades ask for 10% to 30% of the reward. If the party agrees to the shade's contract but the boss battle is lost despite the shade's help, the shade earns nothing.

Shades do not count as party members for the purpose of determining bonus rewards (eg. four party members and a shade would earn as much as four party members without a shade). Only one shade may participate in any boss battle. Once the boss battle ends, the shade returns to whence it came from.

Shades can talk, and may offer some hints and tips for defeating the boss.

Whether you play it safe or seek greater challenges, I hope you enjoy the boss battles!

Wow, very cool. Definitely will have us making some hard decisions that will reveal how greedy we are...

Sorry everybody! I had gotten preoccupied recently with some work to do, but i should be back for a good solid time and continue posting! Sorry about the non-posting for a bit....

I would want to be clear on who has taken what loot. There are still lots of unclaimed stuff; come grab some!

  • Dagger: Pahleg
  • Rapier: Kekkle
  • Leather Armor: Ulrich, unused
  • Broken pickaxe: ???
  • Longsword: ???
  • Buckler: Ulrich
  • Longspear: Pahleg
  • Shortbow and 7 arrows: ???
  • Dagger: Ushio
  • Leather armor: Goramar
  • Hollow Mercenary Armor (2): Ulrich, ???
  • Antitoxin: Ulrich
  • Light crossbow and 20 bolts: ???
  • Silver dagger: Ushio?
  • Alchemist's fire: ???
  • Lesser Estus Flask: ???
  • Estus Flask: ???

Also please update your profile pages once you take something.

  • Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

I don't have the leather anymore, since the mercenary armor has replaced it. I would foist it onto Moritat or leave it unclaimed. I believe that Pahleg has the other suit of scale. I'll hold onto the broken pick axe and the estus flask if no one else will take them.

    28/28 HP

I'll take the Alchemist Fire. Did we still want to give me the crossbow as well?

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

I would say so- either Ushio or Goramar can take the shortbow and it doesn't seem like our summoner is posting so Kekkle makes the most sense as a recipient.

I'm going to keep the scythe around for coup de graces I think. althogh that too would be a lot better for someone with a positive STR mod.

in unrelated matters, should we assume that Moritat and Rilian have gone hollow?

That sweet sound when you crash and break and shatter stuff. It's not rewarding, it's not encouraged, it's not needed for anything... so why does it feel so good?

    Elyna wrote:

I contacted both players on Monday via PM, asking if they are still playing. Neither have responded.

Earlier mourge40k (Moritat) said he had some long and stressful studies, which I can relate to, so I am more merciful with him. Volkner (Rilian) on the other hand last posted almost a month ago and hasn't explained his absence.

I'm giving both players till next Monday to respond, then I start taking actions.

    Is Goramar still here BTW?

    28/28 HP

    What're we all selling?

Gotta get dat cash money, folks. Gotta get dat Ring of Greed.

Whatever you decide to buy or sell, please make it quickly.

I remember you still have some things you could part with: a trinket (1s), sparkly what (2s), maybe some weapons as well. Don't forget the large soul of fallen roamer you found just a moment ago.

You could squeeze out something like 20 souls by selling stuff and using the soul item. Is that enough to buy what you want? If yes, good. If not, maybe it's best to carry on.

    female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

My copy of occult adventures finally arrived today. I'm just checking over the changes made to the kineticist class.

  • 4 + int skill points now, instad of 2
  • Gather power has been extracted from burn as a separate ability, but still works much in the same way in preventing me from accepting burn, except that it can alternatively be used as a full-round or a fullround+move action to prevent 2 or 3 burn respectively.
  • I now get basic pyrokinesis as a starting wild talent, which gives me the cantrips light, flare and spark (light actually produces heat though, because it's a flame used to spread light)
  • Feel the Burn has been renamed to Elemental Overflow and grants +2 damage per point of burn instead of +1. (this doesn'T become relevant until level 3 anyway)
  • Kinetic blade doesn't gain the attack and damage bonuses from Elemental Overflow, making it less useful to me unfortunately. Now it's just a contingency if I get caught in melee.
  • And a couple other things that don't become relevant until higher levels.

Can I apply the changes right away or should I wait until I level up?

  • You can apply the changes now if you want.

So here's a question for you guys:

Like I said, I prodded mourge40k (Moritat) and Volkner (Rilian) this Monday and neither have responded yet. I'm still hopeful they'd respond and start getting more active, but in the case that's not the case... what would you like to do?

Would you like me to (a) recruit two new players to replace them, bringing the number of players back to eight; or would you like to (b) just keep playing with the current six players?

I have no preference one way or another. Let your voice be heard!

    Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

    Thanks president diplomacy.

I think 6 players is plenty for PBP.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

I think we're fine as we are.

    female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

Party composition is fine and 6 players are plenty.

    28/28 HP

I'm fine with six as well.

Due to their extended absences, mourge40k (Moritat) and Volkner (Rilian) are no longer players in this game.

Let their modkills act as a fun little tutorial for invasions!

    female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

    Rest in Peace

Would it be alright if I replaced my Kinetic Blade infusion with Burning Infusion? It doesn't do anymore what it could do during the playtest.

    Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Everybody please, please keep your HP bars updated. It's very important for monitoring the health of the party.

    28/28 HP

Botted twice in one day...sorry guys.

I don't think I've been hit yet, so my health should be at full.

    Elyna wrote:

Sounds reasonable, go ahead. What changed in the official release version?

    female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

It cannot benefit from Feel the Burn/Elemental Overflow anymore, putting it behind my regular blast while still costing burn.

    28/28 HP

We should head back to that skeleton and pick up the ring of greed.

Also Kekkle, I would appreciate you having your hp somewhere in your statline.

Let's find out what the ring does from the skeleton first, maybe? We also have three levels worth of souls in the bank...

To save effort I can say OOC that the skeleton merchant has no clue what any of his rings do (or at least that's what he claims...)

So, feeling greedy? Or does three level-ups sound more promising?

    Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Would the skeleton allow some detect magics and Spellcraft checks?

My vote is probably going to go for levels.

The skeleton would most definitely allow his/her/its customers to detect magic and spellcraft (good for business, I guess). As far as I know only Kekkle can do both and he hasn't prepared detect magic for this day, so you'd need to rest and sleep before pulling that off.

    So how will it be?

    28/28 HP

Jolly cooperation between I and Pahleg? I wouldn't mind leveling up either, which would give me another cantrip slot I believe :3

    Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

You don't have detect magic prepared?! Bro, rookie mistake.

    28/28 HP

You already had it and with my whopping two cantrips I figured it wouldn't be wise to overlap. I stand by my decision.

    female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

It would be more useful though if Kekkle were the one to prepare detect because he has the higher spellcraft.

Not just higher Spellcraft: Kekkle is the only one with Spellcraft ranks at all. Pahleg is a bit short on skills, being a non-human cleric with 8 Int.

    28/28 HP

Be that as it may it'd still be nice to pick up a level for the extra cantrip and 1st level spell. If I've paid any attention at all then Pahleg and I are the only casters left and I've got 3/4ths casting with diminished spellcasting thrown on.
