Hi everybody, quick question to the ST. When combat does show up, how will initiative be rolled? Will the ST roll it in a spoiler and let us know the order, or will we all be rolling our own?
Also this is my first time playing L5R, I'm hoping to have some fun.
Forgot to mention, but I'm also new to L5R and English is not my first language, so please forgive any mistake!

Lately I've been working late into the night so I'm trying to make more regular posts, although my posting schedule will flip flop over the next couple of days.

I'm sorry for slow posting, but I have the last week of masters and starting to move houses starting sunday.
I have worked all day on little sleep and have to get up at dawn tomorrow for another full day on the job; frankly, my brain is mush. I need some shut-eye. The next Sadane post from Heizo will be up tomorrow morning around 6:30 am CST.

GM, what are your thoughts about how to conduct Raises in PBP? Since we are able to see the results before we post, when I call for a raise and I succeed, it will look like I just decided to call for a raise when I saw the results...

Actually they might be praised within the Lion Clan, but those are samurais that must swallow their pride to do something regardless of their loss of honor. Low Skills are cause of loss of honor unless the school or GM say otherwise.

is considered a dishonorable act, but the Lion Scouts are
willing to swallow their pride and accomplish what must
be done. The Akodo and the Ikoma both train scouts to be
adept at avoiding the enemy and surveying the terrain,
working to garner even the slightest advantage against

I'd also like to draw your attention to the description of the Stealth skill in the main skills chapter.
You lose no Honor for using Stealth (Sneaking), although other Emphases do usually result in Honor loss as normal
So we can agree it is still looked on disfavorably by samurai in general, but there is no honor loss, no matter which clan is doing or watching the sneaking!

You weren't doing terrible, and belonging to the Crab Clan gives you some leverage as to be a tad blunt and most believe you will break etiquette a lot of the time (stereotype), just ask about the things you don't know. I can give you a quick run down of L5R culture and basic nuances from the Crab Clan stance if you want.
