HISTORY
Losing to a master is nothing to be ashamed of, unless you learn nothing from the experience.
Master Suana.

Akodo Suana's father was a great admirer of Master Suana, the Brotherhood of Shinsei's famous tactician monk. Thus, he gifted his own son with the Master's name, in the hopes that he would inherit his brilliant tactical ability and become a great Lion commander. But, even though young Suana had borne his name with pride, the day he had to enter a school he didn't choose the Akodo War College to be a tactician - he chose to be a Kensai.

To his father's chagrin, Suana dedicated himself to study the sword at full effort, having in mind not his father's heroes, like Master Suana or Akodo Toturi, but instead his own ones, like Matsu Ketsui or Akodo Tokoyama. He was held in high regard by the sensei at his dojo, and rumours went that he was to attend the Heart of the Katana dojo after his gempukku, an honour bestowed only upon the finest swordsmen and most honourable samurai of the Lion clan. He only felt sorry that his father, slain in a skirmish against some bandits, wouldn't be able to see Suana's light shine fully.

But then something happened that changed everything.
Suana and some other fellow students were granted a trip to Crab lands to study their customs. They went to a dojo where the senior students were two twin sisters, Reiko and Shiori. They were bold, skilled and honourable, so Suana liked them, and it seems they liked him as well.
One day, Suana and Shiori were engaged in arm wrestles to see who was stronger. Of course, Shiori won mostly all of them, but then Suana's pride kicked in and he tried to pull from Shiori's arm wrong, thus injuring her. For both of them it was just part of the competition, but the teachers at the dojo didn't think the same. Suana was sent home, ending his trip, and he was never treated with the same respect again. Of course, word about attending the Heart of the Katana dojo was never to be heard again.
Then Suana's father came back from the realm of spirits. He came to scold Suana for not choosing the path he had planned for him, for screwing his future in an arm wrestle, and for everything that Suana was to do wrong from there after. At first only every couple of months, but then more often every time, to the point of becoming a real distraction at the worst moments. Suana's father has been in charge of making sure his son never recovers from the blow, even though Suana's sense of duty has only grown stronger and served him as his only help.

They are many, but they lack the Lion's discipline. Even greater numbers can be overcome by judicious use of skill.
Akodo Masao.

RECENT EVENTS
Recently, a new chance for Suana seems to have come out of the blue.
A Topaz Championship is to be held, and Suana has being assigned as an assistant to the Lion contender, Matsu Sachiko, and her sensei. Needless to say, Suana has immersed himself in the task - even if he's not fully sure what this task is. He believes if he succeeds on his assignment at the championship he might be given a chance to attend the Kensai dojo, though his father seems to be quite set on thwarting Suana's efforts. But that won't stop Suana, of course...

Always remember that the aim of swordsmanship is to split your opponent in two.
