I wanted to take a quick timeout to link back to a couple important posts that have info in them that you are still working on.

First are the three large posts that describe the vast majority of the Horn

Next is Cardinal Thorn’s post where he described the mission, which is essentially to get the Tears of Achlys from Vetra-Kali.

This sandbox-style seems a bit challenging format for pbp... Could we set a spreadsheet with the days and activities based on the rumors? Everyone could plan their "activity" for couple of days ahead, and we can RP each day in turn.

On my own behalf, there are things Mordecai would do, but he doesn't want to go alone. And I feel the (lack of) decision-making is stalling the game. (But I could be wrong, too)


So I'll say that I actually have made a spreadsheet on my end, tracking what events will happen on what days, etc. I can't share that.

Can I suggest maybe adding a sheet to the Loot tracker, and you guys can plan stuff in there?

I added another sheet in the loot tracker as suggested, going through the various post and pulling what I thought was important information and my ideas of that would be needed to make the attack more successful.

I think Day three is to agreed we head to ambush (27 on the spreadsheet). That leaves Day 2 for most folks. Let me know if that is not the plan.

Thanks for adding the info Taeral. Counting numbers (31) is on Gertart's day 2, though we got a little info already. Rumor says one hundred regular troops, but maybe another hundred in clerics, officers, engineers, knights, ravens and crazy old hoots.

EDIT: anyone else find it strange that a fountain exists on level 2, but level one shows only a hall below it? :)


So that we've both got the same counting system going...

I've recorded day 1 as the day you arrived and gathered rumors.

Day 2 is the day Gertrart helped Slate and the day the Rangers were due to go out on patrol.

Don't call Fireaxe before day 15!

Great work, thanks! I added a simple chart for who will be doing what on days 1-15, with the idea that for each day you put the task number what your character is pursuing. Don't know if that would work, but I'd like to use anything that helps us moving onwards :)

The Rangers left on day two, so the ambush would be on day four, right? I think for that we'll need all of us, since it's going to be a big fight.


Correct Mordecai on the ranger timing. As Rangers they've probably all got favored enemy (forsaken of Mitra) too!

Mondays are my bad day for internet access. Gertrart is continueing his study of the fort. After hours he shall map out locations of the city's banks, jewelers & magic shop.

Is there a stew day between now & ambush day?


"ambush day" as you call it, would appear to be on day 4, the next stew day is day 7.

We should do the Ambush on day 4 and the posioning of the stew on the 14th day. It was stated that the poison may not kill everyone, and those that is did not kill would be at a penalty for about 3 days.

So we would want to do the poisoning to occur about the same time as the bugbear attack, earliest would be day 14.

We could coordinate around stew day 7, so that we know the process of getting into the keep, helping with the stew and seeing how easy it will be to apply the poison.

Sounds like a plan! If we allow a day for the poison to take full effect, that means we signal the bugbears on day 15. With a bit of luck, they won't have realised the patrol is missing by then.

even if they realize the patrol is missing, they may send out a search patrol, resulting in a lower number of troops and another possible ambush for us.


To ensure the group doesn't necessarily get target fixated, I remind you of this:

@Mordecai - it's not hard, with some directed questioning and drink buying with some off duty Rangers, to determine that Captain Varning takes his patrols out roughly once a week for 4-5 days per patrol. While he varies his patrol route, you are able to determine that like clockwork, he and his patrol, tend to camp at a place called Freeman's Rock on their third day out. It has good ground, the hunting, and a great view of Lake Tarik.

One caveat. Malleck is our heavy hitter. Should we wait until his PC issues are resolved or do we rely on Shade to take on a party of trained rangers?

On the table, there are four numbers next to my name for the current day. Are those the task numbers from earlier in the table? That is what I treated it as when I added "3" (ambush) to next day.

I am not trying to play anyone else's character,* I am only trying to avoid the PbP meets door conundrum. If this is not what you want to do, please just say what you would rather do.

Mordecai, you listed 4 (exploit love triangle). The imp found the Lady Mott alone, what would you like to follow up on? If I may suggest, find Captains Edderly's boots and plant them under her bed. Or steal a favor of hers to plant on Edderly.

Vosil & Xeram, are you securing the arsenic? When done, will you have time to follow up on Tacitus, Havelyn or Mad Martin.

Solomon, I have KN engineering and will look for the same information from the inside (With the map and any luck, the dwarves will say what part of the foundation need shoring. :)

If I may bot Malleck, can he find a good place to observe the walls and learn the pattern of guards. We know pairs, but maybe we can get some more details. How long does a circuit take, how often does a change happen, any blind spots or the like? (*OK Malleck's character I am trying to play :)

While we wait, does anyone know the way to roll for magic items in a town that is not London/Absalom/Waterdeep/Greyhawk?

For example does one roll 3d4 minor items for a small town, and then the 75% for a given item. Or do you have to hit 75% to even roll the 3d4. Or do you roll the 75%(3d4) times? It is probably strait forward but thinking about has clouded my brain on the issue.

& my other PbP just finished so I find myself with too much time... :)

I wonder if we made the decision to not attack the rangers on day four... Means Mordecai will have to find something else to do. Killing the rooks would be high in priority IMHO, so they can't slip out messages once people start disappearing/dying gruesomely.

I don't remember that, I thought we were all in on the ambush. If not, I'll have to find something else to do as well

For the rooks (ravens?), I think an invisible imp dropping poison bird seed is the way to go: can't be traced to us, Mad what's his name might be blamed, or it might be mistaken for an illness - who's going to autopsy a bunch of dead birds?

We set aside the ambush for a week, so yeah, we can make several day's actions. :)

Mad Martigan is always there, but can the imp about the rookery?

Taeral made a list of tasks. Pick one. Maybe we can ambush one or two guards off duty.

I am up for using Poison Bird Seeds. If the Imp can get a bag of seeds currently being feed to the ravens, Taeral can apply the poison and let the Imp take the bag back. This way the husks of the seeds will not be any different form the husks currently remaining in the rookery.

Ravens are omnivores, the 'husk' of their 'birdseed' will look like any other squirrel-skin. ;)
